V7.7 Bios is a Problem

Just flash my ILSR to latest v7.7 bios via msi windows flash menu.
Now when i first cold boot my pc in the morning, i get this irritating "ti to ti to ti to" siren and no boot. I have turn off my power supply and try again till it finally boot!   After which every thing runs fine for the day.
I guess the siren means ram not working or something and the new bios supposed to modify ddr400 timings(mine is ddr400)... is wrong here?
Everything is the same config before flashing, no problem with v7.6 bios. Should i flash back to previous bios?

i set at 1.625 for a barton cpu overclock to 3000+.
the bios read 1.65+/- and mbm5 reads 1.66/7 average.
i suspect this board over volts, since it actually overclocks stable at 1.625 instead of auto.
at auto volt, the bios and mbm5 readings are lower than at 1.625.
but the thing is this problem comes randomly, always at cold boot in the morning and it was fine before bios update.

  • New in gx740 bios? (+ current problems)

So since the sticky topic is non-replyable, im wondering if someone knows what will be changed?
    Here are current problems:
Closing lid and reopening will make the screen to stay black. Cant turn on anymore- need to hold power button for 5 secs - not found a fix yet.
Advanced overclock menu is not available in bios menu...please enable - not found fix.
Hybernation wont work and sometimes wont wake out of sleep if ati powerplay is enabled.
Sound is sleeping for 3 seconds with realtek drivers-must be disabled in the realtek menu battery icon.
Utorrent and this notebook dont like each other - getting random bsods over time when utorrent is started - no fix found, but guess a other torrent client will work.

Please have a look at the questions I asked:
    Quote
What is your current BIOS Version?
Which operating system are you using?
Have you considered a reinstallation of your operating system?
Have you tried an EC Reset at any point?
And not have a look at your answer:
    Quote
No, that wont fix it. I had this when i got the notebook.
I have no idea to which of the above questions your answer is referring to.  Whatever the answer to that is, three more questions remain unanswered.

Why do companys ALWAYS give the easy answers, like reinstall...
First of all, I did not give you a "company answer".  This is a user-to-user forum. I don't work for MSI, I am just a user like yourself.  Secondly, an OS reinstallation is a very effective step when it comes to troubleshooting (consider it a control case).

Does someone has knowledge of the next bios version?
No.  I don't even know what you mean when you say "next" as you did not say anything about your current version.

  • CPU overheat? Thermal Temperature in BIOS? Serious problem..

    My computer:
    Athlon 64 3000+ 754 BOXED
MSI K8T Neo FIS2R with latest BIOS
PowerColor Radeon 9600 256MB (passive cooling from retail)
    Corsair 512MB PC3200 ValueSelect
    Maxtor 160GB SATA (old drive)
    Seagate 200GB SATA (new drive)
    DVD-burner
    CD-ROM
    Floppy
    TV-card
350W PSU from my In Win case, 15A @ 12V
    NEVER OVERCLOCKED
I have found this under Power Settings in BIOS. It's set to 65 degrees but I can't seem to change the temperature. I want to change it because I think that it causes a problem to my computer, here's what happens:
When browsing the net or not running any heavy applications my computer is just fine. But as soon as I start playing for 15-20 minutes, a bluescreen appears and I have to turn the PSU off and on to be able to turn on the computer again. Sometimes the bluescreen is all blank, sometimes IRQL_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS, sometimes PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGE_AREA but mostly I get a bluescreen about win32k.sys. I read the manual and changed a power setting in BIOS to On (it will reboot, I had it on Off before) if any power faults are detected. So now when I changed that, I don't get any bluescreens, instead my computer freezes and I have to turn the PSU off, so I guess it's all about some sort of power problem. A more indepth description of what happens: After the bluescreen/freeze, the computer is still on and all fans are spinning. If I try to reboot using the restart button, the screen goes black but nothing happens. No beep from the motherboard, and the monitor light just flashing, but the fans are still on. So I turn off the PSU power on the back of the PSU and then turn it on again. If I try to start the computer too fast after turning the PSU off, the computer will most likely freeze when NO BIOS FOUND appears or the Windows XP Welcome screen appears. And if I then try to reboot the computer keeps freezing before Windows is loaded, and sometimes it will not even start (no beep, monitor all black). So I have to wait 5-10 minutes before I turn the computer on, and I have no idea why. It's always running fine if I wait. And the problem doesn't just occur when playing, but when having Prime95 on as well. 5-10 minutes on torture test then bluescreen.
My problem appeared when I installed a new harddrive. My computer has been running fine for over 1 year now, but after installing the new harddrive and Windows XP on it (removing Windows on the old hd as well), it's all weird.
Now this is what I have done so far (it's a lot):
-Installed a lot of different drivers and updates for the motherboard and the graphicscard.
-Installed another version of Windows XP.
-Formatted the new harddrive and reinstalled Windows XP ~5 times.
-After installing XP, the first thing I did was to run the game, without ANY drivers at all. This made me think it has to be a hardware problem, since I still got a bluescreen.
-Updated BIOS to the latest, because I read some temperature problems were fixed. Actually the update lowered my CPU temperature by ~15 degrees but still bluescreen.
-Ran the computer with an open case for better airflow, unplugged the old harddrive + DVD + CD + floppy, running with only CPU + RAM + graphicscard + hd, to see if there was any power problem with my PSU. But as the bluescreen still appeared, I bet it wasn't any power problem (plus the fact that my computer has been running fine for 1+ years...)
-Changed my memory to 2x Kingston HyperX and disabled External BIOS Cache + Shadowing in BIOS, with no effect. So I suppose no memory problem..
-Read about the NONPAGE bluescreen that it can occur if the harddrive is trying to read something that does not excist, or something like that. Not really sure what it meant, but I started to think that the new hd was the cause of the problem.
    -Ran Scandisc on all drives.
-Moved the game to my old drive and ran it, still same problem.
-The last thing I tried to do was to install Windows on my old harddrive, exactly like it was before, but I got a bluescreen under the installation and was to tired to try another time.
So... my conclusion is (but it might not be right though):
    Either
    -Harddrive problem (bad sectors?)
-CPU overheat problem (rebooting/bluescreen because of too high temperature?)
    -Graphicscard problem (overheat? no idea...)
Alright, this is as much as I can do. I've been to various forums but I haven't got much help. I hope you might know or give me some ideas of what is wrong! :/

I set them to the correct values. Underclocked. Doesn't help. Tried 3 different DDR modules, didn't help. Tried to switch memory slots, didn't help.
On the memtest86 website I read that it could be either memory, CPU or motherboard problem if the test fails. So I guess either CPU or motherboard. I still think the CPU is overheating, because when I looked in BIOS the idle temperature rose to 70+ degrees. Could be bad sensors, but I got the latest BIOS. Everytime I try to install Windows XP I get a bluescreen, and my computer even froze in DOS-mode. I might think it's hotter where the temp sensors are than the actual CPU temperature, so they give false values. Or maybe my CPU is just too hot, I don't know. And that's maybe the cause to why I get millions of errors in memtest after a while, because the CPU gets too hot.
    What do you think?

  • BIOS and sensors problems on MSI MS-7031 (RS350M)

    Hi,
I got problem with BIOS, I cant set CPU Warning temperature because buzzer is making a lost of noise.
I`m setting warning temp to 70C my CPU in BIOS is at 45C (I check temperature with digital multimeter too and it`s about 40-45C)
    Fan1 are running 3000rpm, fan2 1200rpm (big fan 160mm)
Smart Fun Control is working correct! I set target temp to 45C and fans are slowing wen CPU is idle and speed up wen I use whole CPU.
I put my sensors from digital multimeter between heat-sink and CPU, and real temp of CPU is 40C idle to 55C stress. Smart Fun is starting to speed up at 45-46C and slowing down at 44-45C.
I cant use Live Update because I don`t have Windows, I cant find standalone update for my board. (ISO image or just a image)
I can connect optical driver and run BIOS update or I cant use BIOS upgrade linux utils.

  • Z87-GD65 USB headset and BIOS 1.7 problems

OK...as i've stated on these forums before there is a problem with attaching USB headsets with this motherboard. There is already many posts about the problem so it "is a problem". F.R.E.Q 5 headphone will not work with the mobo, other people on these forums have also complained about razor headsets not working, as I agree with that it is a well known razor has compatibility issues I still think this is a mobo issue that MSI need to address. Logitech G35 work fines...but every other usb headset i've tried doesnt...this is on both 1.3 bios and 1.6. I've also tried other workarounds to no avail.
Any MSI guys readin this...these are the headphone i'm talking about
    http://www.cyborggaming.com/prod/freq5.htm
NOW..the BIOS issue...the new 1.7 that has been released...DONT FLASH IT....it just bricked my mate mobos...lucky the GD65 has dual bios. I tried it to see if it happened to get his freq 5 working...but the PC wouldn't post.
Any comments or development on this situations on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

    Personally I don't think it's a problem with a BIOS.
Have you tried updating all the drivers? Especially Audio..
Like I said, i've tried every workaround from bios to drivers. Been on these forums, other forums, other sources and no solution seems to work. There is nothing wrong with the headphones as they work on every other PC i've tried and those have had different mobos. Those headphones even work on my Z87 MPower MAX no problem..it is just this Z87 GD65 board. Could be just a bad apple out of the bunch...but I doubt we'll get a RMA for it just cause one sort of headphones wont work on it. Now my mate got a pair of $170 headphones sitting there he cant use.
And as the to 1.7 bios...just by going off the few posts on here i'd be pulling it asap, obviously not alot of testing has been done on it. Just lucky the board has the dual bios option.

  • Updating my BIOS, have stability problem

    Hi
I have been told on a PC tech forum that my new motherboard may be compatible with this CPU I bought ages ago.

But they said I had to update my bios to 1.2 in order for it to work.
    BIOS Updates
    http://www.msi.coOSindex.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1470
I am new at this and I don't want to damage my PC.
I've been reading about and I think my PC may be unstable and I hear that I shouldn't update because of that.
I occationally have hardware failure crashes (blue screen) and I was hoping that this new processor could change all of that (I have narrowed down the source of the crashes to my hard drive, RAM(maybe) or processor).
It might be the case that my BIOS is already 1.2 and I can skip all of this but I don't know how to check my current version.

    Hi Henry, thanks for responding.
I have changed my sig, hope its alright.
I will give some info on my stability problem. I'm a novice when it comes to pc hardware so sorry if I come off a bit dense.
For a while now I have had the same anoying problem with my PC. HD videos and video games run really slow, it's not that I am unable to play them it's just that my PC struggles and they stutter, even though I have been told that my PC should be able to handle them no problem. And my PC keeps crashing sometimes with and sometimes without a blue screen hardware failure.
Over the last couple years I have been upgrading my PC, I added 3gig of ram, then I got an nVidia 8500, then PSU, motherboard, added another internal hdd but the same problem pursists. The only components I haven't upgraded are my CPU and my original hard drive. Everytime I upgrade, my PC runs a little bit faster, but still not as it should be.
I recently got Win7 from my university and I tried to install it on a partition but everytime I try I get a blue screen (hardware failure)
The weird thing is half the time when my PC crashes, it will crash again but if I'm lucky, if I can restart my PC after I get a bue screen, then my PC will run perfectly fine, HD vidoes work perfectly and so do my games. Usually to get my PC into this state, I need to keep restarting my PC just waiting for it to crash so my PC works properly.
I'm guessing that it's either, my CPU, hard drive or ram(maybe) causing the problem. I have tested each stick of ram individually but it didn't make a difference in my performance so I assume they are both fine (or it's both of them).
right now I'm trying to upgrade my CPU to the
    intel Core 2 Quad
    Freq. 2.50GHz
    FSB 1333MHz
    L2 Cache 4MB
    Core 45nm
    Socket LGA 775
    PCG 05A
    Q8300
But I need to update my BIOS to 1.2 (currently I am 1.1), which I am reluctant to do because I'm worried that my PC will crash.
    Thanks
    Russ

  • SPA10 battery and BIOS time lost problems

We have 7 SPA10 laptops in our University department.
They are all showing the same problem when they haven't been used for a week or so.
    The error message is:
RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent.
Press F1 key to set Date/Time
They didn't use to do this so is there an RTC battery we can change or anyone know another solution?
Our SPA60s don't show this problem.
    Cheers
    Paul

    Hi
I'd like to give you some more info regarding this question.
Most Toshiba notebooks are equipped with a rechargable RTC battery. If they are left alone for some time, the RTC battery will discharge and You will get this error message when booting up the first time.
This is not the end of the world since the only actual problem is that time and date is lost.
The rest of the BIOS settings are set to factory default which in almost 100% are absolutely perfect.
If not, they are easily changed from within Windows via HWSETUP found in the Control Panel (icon looks like a wrench-tool).
It is as easy to recharge the RTC battery! Plug the computer in the the DC and start it up. After it has been running (turned on) for about 24 hours, the RTC battery should be 100% recharged.
    Good luck
    Tom

  • A50-512 bios 1.30 problem

    Hi,
After update bios to version 1.30 (via windows updater version, from official toshiba support site) I get lost bios menu/pages. Bios inform me that pages is 1/2 but I couldn't switch using PgDn PgUp to other pages. Most of very important function get lost, just a date/time and password is displayed, that's all.
    Could someone help me? Thanks.
    brgds,
    radek

    Hello Kedar
Please download the BIOS again and do a new BIOS update. You should also check in the OS under Control Panel / HW Setup to see if the BIOS setting are present there. If the access to the second BIOS page still does not work you should bring the unit to an ASP. Just ASP is able to check what the problem can be or even downgrade the BIOS to previous version.
On Toshiba page you can find a Authorized service partner in your country. Visit http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com and go to Support & Downloads. There you can find a option called Find an authorized service partner.
    Good luck!

  • Creative Xfi soundcard and NForce4 chipset, which BIOS solves the problem?

    Hello,
I have the MSI K8N-Neo4 Platinum mobo. Is it possible to get the Xfi-card working without problems and which BIOS version do I need then?
A clear statement from MSI on this matter would be nice.

I just got my X-Fi today.  I was running BIOS 1.3 on my non-SLI board.  I knew what to expect and sure enough I wasn't disappointed - multiple unknown devices detected on the PCI bus.  I've always been happy with BIOS 1.3 and had no reason to flash until today.  I went ahead and flashed to 1.9, and my multiple devices magically turned into one
However (there just has to be a however), my pc now hangs on shutdown.  I'm not too bothered by this - I'm confident I'll find the cause and solution, if not on this forum then somewhere out there in the techno-geek community

I flashed with the beta bios and now the official 1.3 bios. I still have major problems with trying to do a backup of my hard drive. I am using Powerquest Drive Image 4 which worked perfectly until I flashed my bios from 1.1 to 1.2.
Now when I try to do a copy of one disk to another I get a crc error. The first time I tried to copy after flashing my bios to 1.3 it did work, but the image it copied was a different size to the original?
Now it just crashes each time.
I am starting to think that the 1.2 bios had some sort of virus, is it possible to have a virus in the bios? I have checked my machine with various virus checkers and run the fdisk/mbr command and still have this problem.
My machine has be playing up ever since I loaded this bios and even if I go back to my previous bios the problems still exist.
I have re-flashed back to version 1.1 and 1.2 still no help. I have tried to do the backup with other software (Drive image 4 and Maxtor disk utility) when it does copy, the image size is different to the original. This did not used to be the case !!
    Someone must have an idea!!!
    Moderators please help.

    Bas,
If you check the post in the other link you will see that I am simply following instructions from the other moderator Maesus.
He/She suggested that I start a new thread since the other one was quite long.
I have no problems with my PSU all lines are well within 5%. Memtest has been run overnight and found no problems. My CPU never goes over 50c under load for hours, so the CPU cooler cannot be the problem either.
I have the correct cables, the IDE drives are all connected properly so this cannot be the cause of this problem.
As I said earlier everything worked fine until I went from 1.1 bios to 1.2. I have throughly tested each componet and still believe that there is some kind of bug/virus in the 1.2 bios. If I use the maxtor disk utility to do a backup it reads the disk clusters to be a different size even when backing up to a partition on the same hard drive. This cannot be right and must be picked up from the Bios. Hence a bios problem!!
Please dont knock me for asking the same question over again but I am simply trying to find an answer!!!

Yes, and run it at 9-9-9-24 1.5v.
Disconnect that Seagate hard drive and see if you have any problems still. Looks like that drive could be failing though. A failing hard drive can certainly cause problems on start-up.

  • BIOS v3.7 problem

I have upgrade my BIOS to v3.7. Then my problem is the computer can't restart automatically, meaning that when I press the restart button in the window, the window shutdown as usual, after the screen go blank, then the computer can't restart normally, and I have to press the restart button manually to perform this restart process. Anyone know how to solve this problem?

First off. Can everyone with this problem please report it to MSI at http://support.msi.com.tw/index.php
If enough people report it, MSI will do something about it. This issue with the freeze/hang on restart and shutdown has been kicking around the forums since at least bios rev 3.4 and seems to affect all using RAID.
Someone kindly posted a beta bios 3.5B3, sent to them by MSI, which solves the issue. At least it did for me.
The old link has stopped working. You can now find it here BIOS 3.5B3 As usual the zip/bios is supplied 'as is' and no responsibility taken.
Again, I urge all of you to report the problem HERE.Thankyou.

  • MSI GE60-2OE upgrade to windows 8.1 bios/power button problem

Just upgraded my GE60-2OE to windows 8.1, during start up pressing del key doesn't do anything (normally it will enter system bios), and that's not the only problem, my power button light which is originally suppose to be blue in colour has become orange even when my laptop is idle, i know orange means it is running on nvidia graphics but thats the problem here, how do i  make the light back into blue and how do i enter system bios at startup? my EC and bios is updated to latest version,i have latest geforce experience installed and also latest intel hd driver.

  • After BIOS flash still problems

I had bios v3.1 and it gave me no signal at cold boot start but eventually it worked with a single rail PSU on the Tagan 580W 2x 12V rails psu it didn’t. I went to the shop where i bought everything last day and they flashed the bios to 3.8 now. It works with the Tagan PSU but at cold boot it still gives me the "no signal" thing the d-bracket hangs at memory test and the PCI-e slot doesn’t get any power at all. After i leave it for 3 to 5 minutes on and turn it off and on again it boots up fine and after that even if i turn it off and power it up again its ok. My morning temp in the room is around 18-19°C (winter) i got a Thermaltake tower and it has that temperature diode and when it came around 22°C it booted at cold boot.
So are there any solutions for the cold boot problem. Also there’s no "seek floppy" option in the v3.8 bios and it always checks my floppy drive at boot screen its kind of annoying can it be turned off?

I tried my GFX card in the 2nd pci-e slot with the SLI switch turned on to SLI mode and i got one long beep and 2 or 3 short ones don’t know for sure. I know that’s the GFX card error but should my card run on the 2nd PCi-e slot at all? After the beeps the system went into windows and of course there was no signal to the monitor. On first PCi-e slot its a totally random thing sometimes the system POSTs sometimes not.
I’d kind of appreciate it if I get a reply from somebody kind of frustrating to post 2 times by my self in my thread lol and nobody replying
