V890 RSC card - different somehow?

I use Aurora Aries cards in my console server. I ran into a problem when I ran serial lines to my new v890's, and I was hoping someone here might have the answers. Here's some data points:
The serial management port on the v240, the serial mgmt port on the RSC card that ships with the v440, and the serial mgmt port on the v890's RSC card all purport to use the same pinout.
I use the same type of cables to connect my console server to v240's and v440's. Yet when I plug one of these cables into the v890 and tip, I don't get a connection. I did all the port and cable swapping you'd expect - cables that don't work on the v890 do work on a v440, and so on.
Using a different cable I can get to the DB25 at the back of the v890 with no problem. Normally this would be okay but I'd like to be able to remotely power on the boxes if I had to.
Using a laptop, Cisco cable and null modem adapter I can hyperterm into all three using the same configuration. This is what blows me away - if the 890's RSC card was truly different, this wouldn't work. But it does!
Does anyone have any ideas...?

Unfortunately a straight through cable won't work, and even rolled cables won't work. I had to figure out and then custom build my own cables. The RIM pinouts are:
1 RTS
2 DTR
3 TXD
4 DCD
5 RXD
6 GND
7 ---
8 CTS
...and the pinouts of the v240, v440 RSC, and (supposedly) the v890 RSC are:
1 RTS
2 DTR
3 TXD
4 GND
5 GND
6 RXD
7 DSR/DCD
8 CTS
So my cables from the RIM to the v240/v440/v890 look like:
1 RTS ----- 8 CTS
2 DTR ----- 7 DSR
3 TXD ----- 6 RXD
4 DCD ----- 2 DTR
5 RXD ----- 3 TXD
6 GND ----- 5 GND
7 --- ----- 4 GND
8 CTS ----- 1 RTS
The nice thing is that one end of this cable is a regular straight through connector, so really only one end has to be custom made. This type of cable is working fine for 25-30 other servers; the RSC cards on the 890 are the only problem I have right now.
Again, I've tried swapping cables - I unplug a working cable from a 440 and plug it into the 890; all of a sudden I can't connect. If I plug the non-working 890 cable into a 240 it will work fine.
I can hyperterm into the v890 RSC port with a rolled cable and a null modem adapter from a laptop. I use this same setup to connect to my 240's and 440's. This is maddening :(

  • Sunfire 280R has performaqnce Issue when working without RSC Card

We have a Sunfire 280 Installed and the RSC card was having some problem the same was removed from the machine.
The RSC Software was also removed from the System.
The has PC's connected as terminals on the ethernet using telnet.
Now the system was found to go into a sleep state once or twice a day and the user had to kill all the running processes and restart the system.
Is there any Way we can make the system work properly till we get the replacement card.

Try reseating the card as perhaps it's not in quite right. What power supply do you exactly have? (Will say on the sticker on the side of the unit)
Update to the latest graphics card drivers too. >>nVidia Drivers<<
About a month or so ago when I was dusting out my PC I checked to make sure it was seated properly, so it was all the way in.  I have already tried downloading drivers for it three times. (First time when the card was first installed, and twice since then when it pissed me off enough to try trouble shooting myself.)  But I'll go ahead and download the latest drivers again, just to make sure.
    The power supply:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182022  That's it. (Is linking to Newegg okay?)  A Rosewill RD450-2-DB.
Also, other people have reported this problem on the newegg page for this specific graphics card.
Lorenzo's comment in the 2 egg reviews specifically is pretty much what happens to me.  (Though we have two different PC's.)

  • Problem with RSC card on sun fire v490

    Hi all,
    I have a little problem.
I got few v490 that were already used.
When I connect to the management port of the RSC card I get the prompt of the RSC password, somthing i don't have.
The OS doesn't get loaded and I can't do anything. ( if I had access to the OS I would have reseted the password)
So now, I got left with the only option i thought of.
    1. Disconnect the RSC card,
    2. This will force the output of the consol to go to the serial port(tty).
    3. Jumpstart the machine (beacuse I don't even have the password for the machine)
    4. connect the RSC card, and reset the password.
There is someone here that encountered this problem??
Maybe there is a jumper that can reset the RSC password. i don't know... every response will be great!
    Thanks!!!

  • RSC Cards responding to SNMP?

I have several V880s with the RSC cards configured for remote access.
Recently, our security group contacted me and asked me to either turn
off SNMP or change the Public value. To which I responded "Huh?!
SNMP is not even running". (It's not)
Apparently, the IP address bound to the RSC card is responding to SNMP
requests. I checked all the variables with "rscadm show" and I dont
even SEE snmp anywhere, so I am at a loss.
    Does anyone know:
    a) Why the Sun RSC cards would respond to SNMP?
    b) How I make them NOT respond to SNMP?

7 views and nobody has any idea?

  • Why is the picture in my contact card different from the picture in my iMessages on my MacBook Air?

I just downloaded the iOS 8.0 on my iPhone 4s and i synced my mac with my phone. The picture in my iCloud account on my phone and on my Mac in my contact card are the same, but when I write a message from the Messages on my Mac, there is a different picture. How do I make all of the pictures the same?

You may have a failing hard drive. But since you're running Lion, you can boot to the Recovery partition (hold down the Command and R keys whilst booting) and, once you get to the Recovery screen, use Disl Utility to verify your hard drive and, if you have errors, try to repair it. If you can't repair the hard drive, you'll know that it's time for a new one. If you can repair the hard drive, then you can try installing a 'fresh' version of Lion from the Recovery options.
Try the Recovery partition first, and vefiry your hard drive and then call back...

  • HT201079 Purchase using two credit cards, different billing addresses.

I made a purchase using two credit cards, one is mine and the other is my mother's. We each have different billing addresses, but it is all under my billing address. Is there going to be a problem with the order?

For any order (free or paid), once it has been submitted and processed successfully, you may not need to worry about this order any more.
If you worry about this, wait for the receipt sent to your email address.
I don't use multiple credit card to make purchase so I cannot duplicate your issue. Sorry.

  • Same credit card, different Apple IDs?

My wife and I have the same credit card associated with our Apple ID accounts and sync from the same computer.
After the upgrade to iOS5, I noticed that I can get all her apps, and she can get all of mine (see this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16868757#16868757
One thing that still doesn't make sense- when I purchased an app, HER account email was notified, not mine.  I have logged into iTunes with my AppleID (several times) and logged out of the store on my iPhone and back in with my AppleID (also several times).  It seems that our accounts are somehow mixed up on the apple server side....
Anyone have any thoughts?  Seems like a bug.

According to the iTunes store terms and conditions, you are only allowed to access the store for the country in which you reside.  So the answer to your question is no.  To use the US store, you would likely need a US address, a credit card that verifies to a US address, and an IP address in the us.

  • USing two different SIM cards (different operators) with Iphone 4

What happens when I first sync my Iphone 4with Itunes?
The reason I ask is that I plan to first use it with a Swisscom card and thereafter with an other operator (other SIM card too) in Asia.
Anything I need to know or do differently? Any problem when I change the SIM card ?
    Thanks.
    English; Français oder Deutsch OK

I am always switching SIM in my unlocked 3GS iPhone, mainly in Switzerland, other European and Asian locations. Never had any problems with email, SMS and calls. Admittedly, I only sync with the Swiss SIM card installed. Most of the carrier settings are loaded on the SIM (or captured automatically) once the SIM is activated in its home country. Good luck!

  • Is a TF card different from a SD card

    for a camcorder

TF stands for TransFlash, which was the oridginal name for SD cards.  It is the same thing.  You just have to make sure if it's a regular or micro SD card.

  • I can use itunes card different stores ?

hi every one i recently travel to greece and i went to apple shop to buy itunes card i surprised the employer there said to me this card available just for greek store !!! is possible ??

Yes. Gift cards are not yet available for all countries so you'll need to use a credit card to pay for an order where a gift card is not yet available.

  • Capturing 24pA off tape and P2 cards: different compressors

We are running a test to find if we can mix our DVCPRO HD 24pA footage that was shot both on P2 and on DVCPRO HD tape into the same timeline successfully.
When we log and transfer the P2 media, its compressor is DVCPRO HD 1080p30. But when we capture the footage off the tape, its compressor is DVCPRO HD 1080i60, despite our Easy Setup being set to have the compressor be DVCPRO HD 1080p30. All other properties are the same, compressor is the only difference (both are 23.98fps, 1280x1080 frame size). Anyone know why the compressors are coming in different? Can I force the tape media to capture with the 1080p30 compressor instead of 1080i60?
    Thank you.

Been looking into this more and it appears FCP defaults to compressor 1080i60 once our deck is hooked up (AJ HD 1400). Otherwise our Easy Setup of DVCPRO HD 108024pA defaults to compressor 1080p30. That must be why P2 comes in with one compressor and tape-digitized media comes in as the other.
Now my question is: how to make the deck allow capture using the 1080p30 codec or if it's not possible, is mixing 1080i60 and 1080p30 compressors on same timeline no big deal? (All other properties are the same: frame rate, dominance, size. The compressor is the only difference).

  • Are Mac AGP 8x Graphics Cards different from PC?

    Hello!
I am looking to upgrade from my 9600 to something faster. I have done some research, and I am seeing three options:
    Radeon 9800 PRO Mac Edition
Radeon 9800 PRO Mac Special Edition
    Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition
While looking at cards online, there appear to be a good number of these cards that do not specifically say they are for macs. Does this mean they will still work, or will they be incompatible? Is there any sort of firmware upgrade to make them compatible with macs, or am I limited solely to cards that explicitly say "Mac Edition"?
    Thanks in advance!

You have to use Mac versions. Some people have flashed PC cards to work in Macs, but there are usually some problems with the result.

  • Credit Card Different country from iPhone/iPad mini

I have an iphone and ipad mini bought in Thailand. I've registered my country as Thailand on both. However, my credit card is for the UK. Neither device will allow for this when I register for the App store (region drop-down menu only gives Thai options). Any ideas? My first thought is that maybe I should just reassign teh region of each device as UK.

You must be within the Country with a Valid Billing Address and Credit Card for that Country to use the iTunes Store of that Country..
