Vaio Control Center suddenly informs that my battery condition is critical!. Should I replace it immmediately?

Hi rkreiman,
Welcome to Sony Community!
Yes, if Vaio Control Center already showed that the battery is in critical condition (red light) it means that you need to replace it immediately.

Apple considers the battery a consumable and, boy, have you consumed yours! 1050 cycles? Letting it run down to reserve power? That's abuse! In a short period of time.
Good ahead and bite the bullet and have Apple replace the battery - you might be able to DIY through PowerbookMedic or ifixit, but, were it me, I'd let Apple handle the battery replacement in my 2011 (and will - when and if it needs replacing).
Good luck,
Clinton

  • Keyboard Backlight Settings have no effect vaio Control Center

I have a Sony laptop, model SVE14A35CXH, and my backlit keyboard does work, it's just that the settings in Vaio Control Center, under Keyboard Backlight, the settings for that have no effect on the actual keyboard backlight. I make the setting to never turn on, for both on battery and plugged in, the keyboard still comes on when a key is pressed. I change the setting to turn on in low light, turn off after 60 seconds, it always turns off after 15.  Any time I change the backlight settings, the actual keyboard backlight always turns on in low light conditions, and always turns off after 15 seconds if a key is not pressed. The settings have no effect on what the backlight does. Help would be appreciated.

    Hi Derp-Derpinson,
Are you using a retail version of Windows? You mentioned before that you did a complete fresh install of Windows 8. Please follow the troubleshooting guidelines below:
Power Cycle - remove the battery and all peripherals -> press and hold the power button for 5 seconds. This will drain the electricity of the unit. Check again the backlight.
    Reset BIOS.
Make sure that these drivers are installed or updated: (Sony® Firmware Extension Parser Device Driver, Sony® Shared Library, Hotkey Utilities). You may go to eSupport to download the drivers.
You may also reinstall Vaio Control Center.
    Hope these work.

I am also intended to install windows 10 when available.Best regards.

    Hi cengizdilek,
Thank you for considering Sony Community!
Did you install a retail copy of Windows 8.1? If yes then possibly there are drivers or software that are not compatible with the current Operating System. Or you might downloaded the version of Vaio Control Center that is not compatible with Windows 8.1. If you're using a retail copy then make sure to download the necessary applications and drivers on Sony's website (based on your location or from where you purchased the unit). You may reinstall it as well.
Your Vaio VPCF13Z8E is not a U.S. model and we have limited information about your unit. We do not have the drivers and software compatible with your laptop.
Unfortunately, we are unable to assist customers outside of the US. We kindly recommend visiting our Sony Global Web site for information on contacting the Sony Support Center in your region at http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/Support/.
    Hope these help.
    Thanks.

  • Regarding vaio control center update

After updating vaio control center my laptop is not giving proper base in headphones, what should i do?

    Hi pratik_parate,
    Welcome to Sony Community!
Was it working before? If so, here is what you need to do to isolate the issue
Try that headphones to a different device to make sure that it's working fine. (if its giving a proper base then proceed to the next step, if it doesn't have base replace your headphones)
Try to play music using the internal speaker of the laptop then try the external speaker afterwards (if available)(how's the base of the speaker? If it's normal then proceed to the next step if not then the problem is with the speaker)
Uninstall the updated Vaio Control Center then reinstall the original driver from the website. (Replicate the issue).
Reinstall the Vaio Control Center Update. (Replicate the issue again)
If it persist, you may do a System Restore back to an earlier time when the base on the headphones are properly working.

  • Where can I download VAIO CONTROL CENTER SOFTWARE (not UPDATE) for WIN8?

My model is SVE1513RCXB. Thanks for your help.

    Hi mlbnguyen2610,
Thank you for considering Sony Community!
Based on my end, the original Operating System of your Vaio SVE1513RCXB is Windows 7. Did you install a retail copy of Windows 8 Operating System? Usually the originally shipped version of Vaio Control Center is in the recovery partition. Kindly try this option.
Download and install VAIO Care™ (Desktop) Software, this is under Windows 8 option located on eSupport.sony.com. Open Vaio Care (Desktop) -> Advanced Tools -> Restore and recovery -> Reinstall applications and drivers -> Then look for Vaio Control Center and follow the on-screen instructions. (We have different versions of Vaio Care. Just follow the instructions applicable in your unit).

  • After upgrade to Windows 10, the Vaio Laptop seems to say that the Battery is not compatible or not connected

I updated the Vaio Laptop from WIndows 7 to WIndows 10.  Everything seems to work fine, but it is coming up with a pop-up errror message "Battery is not compatible or not connected, Click OK to hibernate and reinsert the battery".   Obviously this is tied to the upgrade. How do I get this error message to disappear ?

    Hi DebiPGupta,
    Welcome to Sony Community!
Disabling the ISB Utility from the System Configuration is part of the resolution for Widows 8 and 8.1 regarding battery issue. I'm happy that it worked on your Windows 10 machine. Sony will release the drivers and software for Windows 10 soon. Please check this page for further information: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/os10upgrade.pl

  • Battery's dead. Should I replace it?

Laptop’s battery’s dead. This MBP works now as a home server so I don’t really need a battery in it.
I’m not sure about keeping dead battery inside. Is it safe or better to remove/replacet it?
    Thanks
    MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2011)

DO NOT keep a dead battery inside the MBP.  There is a real possibility that it will expand and do damage to the MBP.  Remove it!
    Ciao.

  • I Can't Switch between 'power-saving GPU' and 'High-Performance GPU' in Catalyst Control Center

    Hi,
Whatever if my computer was only on the battery or was only plugged in to the main power supply. In Catalyst Control Center, I noticed that 'High-Performance GPU' was always selected', although the 'automatically select power-saving GPU when on battery' was enabled. Also, When I tried to switch into the 'power-saving GPU', there was no response at all. However, when my laptop was only on the battery, I noticed the the try of switching into 'Power-Saving GPU' results in shutting down my computer suddenly.
Thus, I had to open the Device Manager, then I disabled 'Radeon HD'. After that,  'power-Saving GPU' was selected(Screen shot below), regardless of whether my laptop was on only the battery or was only plugged in to the main power supply. To switch it into 'High-performance GPU' again, I only must enable 'Radeon HD' in the Device Manager since clicking on 'High-performance GPU' in the Catalyst Control Center didn't respond.
As conclusion, 'High-performance GPU is always selected, regardless of whether my computer was only the Battery, or was only plugged in to the main power supply. To let 'power-saving GPU' is selected, then 'Radeon HD' must be disabled in the Device Manager.

  • Control center location source and targets

    Hi,
I'm trying to document an OWB 11.2 repository and I'm trying to find a OWBSYS view that holds the assigned source and target locations for a control center in the design repository (what you see in the control center properties in the Locations tab) . Does anyone know where I can query this information?
    Cheers,
    John

Perhaps the table is repurposed between 10g and 11.2?
When I query that table I see a list of modules (information_system_name) and it's associated location (location_name) but I do not know if the location is a source or a target. A lot of these tables have been around since 9i so I guess in 9i speak I want to see the equivalent of the module type ('data source' or 'warehouse target').
In 11.2 the module no longer has this source or target concept directly via the module properties - it held against the control center properties - not that all_iv_control_centers shows this information - that is just a list of control center names and their associated remote server/workspace/workspace owner properties - which is similar to the old 9i runtime repository connection properties when using the deployment manager and pretty much the same as what you see when querying all_iv_runtime_repositories.
So, still not quite there yet...
    Cheers,
    John

  • Control center

    Hello,
we were migrating application from OWB10gR1 to OWB10R2. Imported the design repository using MDL loader. After that upgraded the Runtime Repository using Control Center upgrade Assistant. Using this moved the runtime audit data from existing Runtime Repository to new control center. After that we need to upgrade all Locations ( locations should be in Valid status) to Control Center.
Most of the Locations were upgraded to Control Center but some locations were failed. I tried through Control Center Upgrade Assistant and OMB PLUS code.
    It was giving error:
    Failed to upgrade location
    exception follows:-
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
Installed components are at version level (null which is different from version of Control Center (10.2.0.1.31)
to fix these error it gave button to Upgrade. I pressed that button. even though it was not upgrading to Control Center.
If anybody faced this situation please advise me.
    Thanks
    Santi

I have already used this assistant to migrate the repository from 9.2 to 10, but I got a lot of errors for the locations. The assistant migrate correctly only a few of them, the others I had to configure or register again in the new version of OWB. After doing it, I didn't get more errors.

  • Name of the OWB control center service?

Is the control center a service that you can manually start/stop in Windows? If so, what is it's name?

    Hi,
in the windows start menu, you find two scripts for starting and stopping the control center service.
    Regards,
    Carsten.

Following a post at the gnome bug by a gnome-control-center developer noting that it was a problem through libcheese in the user accounts panel, I was able to skip this bug by either a) rebuilding the package with  --without-cheese or b) just disabling the fuill user accounts panel with
    chmod 0 /usr/lib/control-center-1/panels/libuser-accounts.so

  • Bluetooth turn off - Control center

    Hi,
I use bluetooth to answer my calls however when I turn off the bluetooth from control center it shows that bluetooth turned off and the small icon at top goes away however if I look at the settings-> bluetooth it shows as ON. when I go inside the bluetooth option the button is in OFF mode. So there may be bug in displaying the correct status of bluetooth or it does not get switched off.
I am posting this at this forum as I can not post it under BugReport.
    Thanks,
    ABJT

  • SCCM Report for Laptop Battery Condition

    Good morning,
We are in a situation where we're needing to monitor conditions of laptop batteries in the school district I manage.   I have added the laptop batteries class(Win32_Battery) and have all required/requested information checked under this class.  This
has been set for a week, so all devices should be inventoried by now.
How do you recommend my getting a report together that shows battery condition/etc?  The fields I would like to see are ones such as:
    Win32_Battery
    battery status
    design capacity
    design voltage
    Expected Life
    Error Description
    Full Charge Capacity
Really anything that will help us in knowing which laptops batteries need replacing.
I am not that knowledgeable about SQL reporting/SCCM reporting, so any help in getting this is greatly appreciated.  Any resources that you can point me in for getting more familiar with creating my own reports would be greatly appreciated.  I
don't even know where to begin.
    Thank you!

Good you have added the class. Please use the following link for the detailed information about Win32_Battery:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa394074(v=vs.85).aspx
Last Full Charge should guide your decision on replacement.
