Vaja cases - with or without click wheel protector?

For those who already own one for your video ipod, what are your opinions of the click wheel protector?
it looks rather obtrusive in the pictures, but perhaps I'm wrong..
any thoughts?

I ordered my Vaja classic case without the screen protector. I wish I would've gotten it now. Too late to change my order. I too thought it took away something from the look of the case, at least on the website, but I've read that it's actually very good. Oh well, I'll just have to use something else. I'm considering clear protectors from Martain Fields.

  • I want a glass case with protection of click wheel -- plesae help? (80 gig)

I purchased the belkin case, which I LOVE, but it's made for the 60gig and it's a pain in the arse to take on and off. I also love it because it has a plastic covering that goes over the click wheel, making NO part of the ipod exposed. Is there a case like this made specifically for the 80 gig? Thank you!

    Check out eBay.
I just bought a Clear Plastic Case fo rmy 80GB iPod.
I paid.99cents for the Case & $7.00 S&H. It fits perfect and protects the entire iPod including the Click Wheel.
There are a lot of Cases on eBay so be sure to ask the seller if it will fit the 80GB.

  • Im looking for a case with a built in screen protector Help

Im looking for a case, thats semi-slim, with a built in screen protector, and possibly waterproof.
    any suggestions

I think if your looking for that kind of protection its pretty much going to add bulk...I've searched through hundreds of cases and those are the smallest with built in screen protectors...im 5' tall 100lbs and the ballistic fits in my pocket comfortably...I've never seen an otterbox on one so I can't truly compare them...I know I found a leather flip front case with a screen protector on Amazon too...very little protection and far from waterproof though...they have baggy kind of things that are waterproof that you can use your phone through...I don't know if it would fit in with any kind of case on it though

  • Anyone used a VAJA case with their iphone yet?

Specifically, I'm wondering which clip system (ultra vs rivet) folks have used, and how/why they like it.
And especially if anyone has yet tried the newer ivolution Top SP Holster... How practical is it? Why do you or don't you like it?
    Thanks!!!

I have the Vaja Top Holster case and love it. And although this particular case I got sans clip, I have had ample experience with both... The ultra clip is heavy-duty (for larger and heavier devices), and moves about on only one axis (spins) - it's very substantial... The rivet clip system is based on a lighter duty "pin" mount, and moves much more freely about it. Also, the rivet clip system has more than one way to be affixed. Although it comes with the standard "Basic Kit" primarily intended for belts, and the like... You can also order the "Additional Kit" that contains a hook, a fabric mount and an adhesive mount... And also "Additional Kit 2" that has a "Kingpin Chain" mount (this one, I've never seen in person, only a picture).
My opinion on Vaja clips is that I generally prefer the ultra. I only use the rivet for much lighter and smaller devices, like the iPod nano. And although the rivet system is much, much more versatile, it flops about a bit too much for my taste. This is the reason I only chose it for nano... Truth be told though, if I had used a clip for iPhone, I would have chosen rivet, since it more closely matches the weight and size of the device.
Detailed info is posted on the Vaja website under "Info > Our Cases".
On the iPhone cases, I can relate two scenarios... I have the Top Holster that provides direct screen protection. In this case, you need to accept the 'dangling' cover when the phone is in-use, but which snaps into place when not being used to protect the glass front. My nieces didn't want the dangling cover, so they use the straight Holster, but keep them in Vaja leather bags when not in use... Whichever you prefer is a personal choice. Both are absolutely beautiful...
To tell the entire story, though, I also use a Vaja leather bag for my Top Holster equipped iPhone. This is to protect the beautiful leather from getting scratched...
    Hope this helps.

  • Problems with 40 GB click wheel ipod

Ok about three days ago my iPod was working like a charm. Like it normally always does. Then all of a sudden it started to slow down, then freeze. I reset it and it seemed fine.
I played some songs, then it started skipping to the next track halfway through one song. It never did this before so I thought it was really strange. I let the next track play through and once again it skipped over to the next track halfway through. And it continued to do this.
When I got home I plugged it into itunes to update my iPod. iTunes told me my ipod was corrupted and it needed to be restored to it's original factory settings. I knew it had been acting strange so I went ahead and restored it. Everything seemed okay until I started to sync my Ipod. Halfway through the syncing proccess it just stopped transfering music to it. It's like my Ipod just all of a sudden rejected the music.
Itunes then froze on me. I waited for it to unfreeze but it didn't. After about an hour and a half I ctrl-alt-deleted and shut the program down. My Ipod still said do not disconnect so I figured I'd re-open Itunes to eject it. Problem was itunes wouldn't open up. Normally Itunes opens up automatically once I click on it. This time it wouldn't though. So I ended up restarting my computer and disconnecting my ipod once it stopped saying 'Do Not Disconnect'.
Once my computer was booted up I opened up itunes and reconnected my ipod. It said it was corrupted once again. Basically the same thing happened again. I've must of tried 6 or 7 times now and each time it's the same results. I tried manually updating my Ipod. everything seemed to work fine but after 300 songs it just locked up in the middle of the transfers like it did all the other times.
Although this time it kept the music on my ipod but it still skips to the next track after about halfway through. I've also noticed an abnormal clicking sound from my ipod. It's not loud but not quiet either. And I haven't noticed it before.
So my question is, what's wrong with my ipod? I assume it's just about six feet under so I'm wondering if it's possible if I can get it repaired? I know it's an old model so I'm wondering. And if I can get it fixed, how? And how much would it cost if there's a fee?

Somebody, anyone, help please? If no one has an answer can someone point me into a direction where someone does? A tech support number or something?

  • Anybody adapt a iPhone case with or without Cover for a Z

I recently bought a Zen. I wanted to try out a case before buying out, but haven't been able to find a case in a store.
Last night I was looking at MicroCenter for a Zen case and I found an iphone case.
I like it, but I wish it had a cover.
    http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/elansleeve
It comes with a plastic sheet to install on the Zen and is very close to the same size.
    Zen Size WxHxD:? 3.26" x 2.6" x 0.44"
    iPhone Size WxHxD:4.50" x 2.40" x 0.48"
So, the iPhone is over an inch longer,? just under a quarter of inch taller, and only 4/00ths thicker.
Since the Zen has a landscape orientation and iPhone has a portrait orientation, you need to switch their definition of height and width. I like it because it comes clip that will work portrait or landscape, but I do wish it had a cover.

You never stated anything earlier about Compass so I was talking about the magnetic case not having an effect on the iPhone itself. If you are attempting to use Compass of course that will have an effect since there is no way for the weak magnetic field of the earth to override the magnetic field of the case. So if you want to use Compass then don't use the magnetic case. If you want to use the magnetic case then don't use Compass. Simple.
You can't have it both ways.
I still stand by my original position the magnetic case will not effect the iPhone.

  • Looking for a clear case that protects screen and click wheel

    Hi,
I've got a new 8GB Nano. I'm looking for a case to protect it from general dings and scratches. What I'm looking for is a clear case with screen and click wheel protection. Anyone know where I can find one? So far, all I've been able to find are clear cases that protect the screen but leave the click wheel unprotected. Or is click wheel protection not that that big of a thing?
    Thanks!

There don't seem to be many cases available yet for the new Nano. I ordered one from iSkins, a company in Canada. You can check their website.

  • HELP-40GB i-pod with scrolling click wheel

ok first of all, i got this new computer. I dowloaded itunes onto it. I want to plug in my i-pod into my new comp but im afraid that all my songs will be deleted. I have all my songs on my other computer, but the other computer isnt working. I also need to plug it into the new comp because a little folder with the ! comes up every once and a while. Also, my i-pod begins to play a song then it stops and it goes to the next song, this is related with the menu icon and the !. Now all of a sudden i press the MENU button and the apple logo pops up then it just turns back off. WHAT DO I DO? i want to keep all my songs, but at the same time im afraid that if i plug it into the new comp all my songs will disappear. Also why is my i-pod just shutting off when i turn it on?
I-pod with the scrolling click wheel   Windows XP

The first thing that anyone is going to suggest to you in respect of the folder and ! error is to reset your iPod and/or restore it. Restoring the iPod will erase anything that's stored on it and return it to factory settings. You may not have any choice but to do this.

  • Scratches on Click Wheel

I got an Ipon Nano 2nd Gen Black 8GB today. I think when I put on the screen protector and put it in the case I scratched the wheel with my nail or something. I'm not sure if it was like that when I got it, I didn't see it. I don't really want to take it back just for this (and I don't think they'll accept it unless it's faulty as they stated this during purchase, depends if they accept that as faulty).
Is there anyway to hide it (click wheel protector maybe?)? I know there are scratch removers but I'm not sute if they work for this. They stand out more that the white wheels so it's quite annoying.
Sorry if this has already been posted. I couldn't find anything.
    Thanks.

scratch removers MAY work. I have no clue if they would work on the click wheel BUT its worth a shot.

you could always email the admins of those sites and ask them if their scratch removal products work on the click wheel. nothing ventured nothing gained.

  • Why Is The New Click Wheel TERRIBLE?

What happened to the flawless design of the click wheel on all previous ipod models.
The new click wheel on the iPod classic is absolutely terrible. It is unresponsive, highly unsensitive, slow and works maybe half the time especially when scrolling counterclockwise.
APPLE, Why the sudden change? I can't even control it through my jeans anymore.
Before you ask any questions, no I am not using any case, my iPod is naked and brand new. Any other iPod I have owned was super responsive and had perfect click wheel sensitivity and worked through my jeans or any case it was in.
I am very unhappy with the new click wheel. Who else is with me?

Well, if it is a defect, which I think it is, it is very common. I'm on my third 120 GB classic. First one had a buku of issues with skipping songs, shutting itself off etc., but the click-wheel was flawless.
Sent that one back to apple, received replacement which had same skipping and restart issues with the added joy of the click-wheel laziness you are describing. Sent that one back, got third unit yesterday, also installed new version of software. Skipping issues and restarts seem to have gone away, but having problems with this click wheel. I'm giving it a couple weeks, and I'll send this one back too. When listening to music, it's not that big of a deal when the wheel goes to sleep and I've got to click it back into action, but while trying to play games it becomes very problematic and unacceptable.
I bought my first ipod second hand and loved it. This is my first new iPod, and it's killing me with aggravation. I have heard before that you should wait until 90 days after any apple release so they can work the bugs out. Seems to hold very true with this experience.

  • IPod Blue Case - anyone having problem with dye rubbing off on click wheel?

I purchased a new iPod 30gb a month ago and for some reason the blue due from the case supplied with the ipod has rubbed off in splotches on the click wheel of my ipod. I can't seem to remove it with anything.
Apple says this is a cosmetic thing they don't cover - I realize that but its a drag after only having it for such a short time.
Anyone else have this problem - suggestions or how to clean it off the click wheel?
    Thanks,

Unfortunately I had the same problem.my advice for all new users wash the cover carefully before using it!!!

  • IPod Nano (4th Generation) switches on when connected to USB power - shows Menu & hangs (unresponsive to click wheel) - deems off after 5-sec - Switches off after disconnecting from USB Power - syncs with iTunes - Tried 5R's - Problem still persists

    1. The iPod Nano (4th Generation - 8GB) switches on, only when connected to USB power by showing apple logo and displays Menu options thereafter..
    2. However, I can not access Menu as it is unresponsive to click wheel. As a result it is inaccessible to any further use,
    3. NOTE: it displays "Battery Fully charged" icon on the screen without any "Lock" icon.
    4. After  5-sec to 10-secs the screen deems off.. i.e. goes to sleep mode.. And thereafter would probably remain like that (sleeeping) for eternity!!!!
    5. It Switches off after WITHOUT DISPLAYING any Apple Logo immediately after disconnecting from USB Power.
    6. In other words, it can be switched on only through USB power in spite of battery being fully charged.
    7. Interestingly, it syncs with iTunes. It is recognised in iTunes (Latest version 11+).. Displays on screen all commands Like.. syncronising, connecting, connected,
    8. Allows to add Music, videos like a normal ipod & displays all status information in iTunes.
    9. Read Trobleshooting & Tried all 5R's. Registered, Resetted, updated & Restored to iOS 1.0.2
    10. It is now displaying to select Language in place of Menu options, with no access through click wheel, centre button whatsoever... Problem still persists
KINDLY GUIDE ME THE SOLUTION. APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE in advance...

"I get the feeling that this is a software issue that could probably be solved quite easily"
Since you have already tried all the normal troubleshooting solutions, take the iPod to your nearest Apple Store for a *proper diagnosis.* The staff there will be able to confirm if your problem is software or hardware _*at no cost to you.*_

  • Can an older IPod (click wheel) be used with a wireless/bluetooth speaker? If so, how?

Can an older IPod (click wheel) be used with a wireless/bluetooth speaker? If so, how?

There is no doubt you can.
When you say photos stored on it.. in what form are these photos?? Is this your iphoto library?
If so using iphoto library on the TC has risks.. not necessarily viewing photos .. that should be fine. But if you have photos you are editing and wireless comms drop out leaving the library with a file open, it is likely to corrupt your library. Please check with the iphoto people on the discussion board if you want to go ahead for the dangers of using iphoto on any network drive.
The TC is not designed as a NAS .. in particular it cannot back itself up, nor can Time Machine backup the TC. So any files on the TC are at risk. If you manage to corrupt the iphoto library without a current backup... does that worry you??

  • New iTunes syncing with older click wheel iPod

I have an older 20 GB 1st gen. click wheel iPod. I'm wondering if I will have syncing problems upgrading to iTunes 10.2.2. Has anyone done this without problem? Please let me know.

Can I use the new versions of iTunes on an old iPod
Yes. I have iTunes 9.0.x working just fine with an iPod that's a generation older than yours.

  • New user   for ipod 4th gen with click wheel

I hope i'm posting this in the right place. My daughter purchased an ipod 4th generation with click wheel offebay, didn't come with software. So I downloaded I tunes off the net. was told the driver for ipod was included in Itunes? I'm computer illeterate, I appologize for this. I'm not sure, but I think I have 2.0 ports on my laptop, it's about l l/2 years old. windows xp I plugged the ipod into my computer after downloading itunes, and the computer doesn't recognize the ipod, a box comes up and says this.
" one of usb drivers attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows doens't recognize it.
I tunes does come up but there is no ipod recognized on itunes it's suppose to come up under devices on the left side of itunes, but nothing comes up. I can import music to my laptop using itunes, cannot put the music onto my ipod.
I'm completely at a loss here, and really don't know what to do.
The serialnumber on my ipod is 2CD44617K8 which I got off the back of the ipod.
I also typed this number in the apple web site and it doesn't recognize the number either.
I have contacted the ebayer this was bought from and he hasn't returned any emails and doesn't act like he wants to help in any kind of way. I'd like to make sure it's opperator error and not something wrong with the ipod.
    thanks in advance
    kathy

This is the wrong forum for your question, this area is for people with the latest iPod nano.
You need to post in the correct forum and you will probably get more help.
Are you sure you have bought a 'real' iPod, could it be a fake?
Does the eBay seller have good positive feedback, it could be that the iPod is actually broken. Does the iPod turn on, can you use the menus, etc. You should be able to operate the iPod without any music.
