Valet AM10 connector. Want no drive letter showing in Windows Explorer

We've purchased one of these AM10s to try for use in a K-12 school and would consider buying more of them.  It sets up easily and works well but we'd like to not have the flash memory partition displayed in Windows Explorer. We'll be using Windows 7 Pro. I've noted that removing the drive letter through disk manager causes the wireless component to fail to function. We'd like for the device to function without students and limited users from seeing it as a disk drive. Can this be done by some easy method? Thank you

I had the same problem. What i did was mount the drive space to a folder on the C: drive instead of having it be on it's own drive letter (which was D
First create a folder on your C: drive that you want to be able to access the files from (you could even mark this as a hidden folder later if you choose)
I created a folder on the C: drive called cisco, then a folder inside that called wifi
Then hit the start button and right click computer and then click manage.
Go to Disk Management
Look for the drive that is the wifi adapter, should be a 124mb Fat 32 formatted disk. Right click and hit change drive letter and paths. Click remove.
Then right click again and hit change drive letters and paths. Check the option to mount in a folder and browse to the folder you created.
Voila! The files there and the device works 100% but the temptation for regular users to mess with the files wil be gone.

  • How to disable drive letter assignment for Windows 7 64 bit

    Hi everybody,
Currently, I have a problem that need your help for my company
I received a new request from my boss, that is disable USB removeable storage on Windows 7 64 bit
I found out and apply some solutions from internet but it cannot be solved
In some solutions, I pay attention to a good one: Disable drive letter assignment for Windows 7 64 bit
I think it may solve my problem. But how to do it??? I need your help from all of you
    Thanks for your support!!!!

    Hi,
Let's verify your issue. Did you want to disable USB storage device?
    If yes, try this:
    1. If you have not ever already done so, you must connect a USB storage device
to the computer now, and wait until Windows installs it and displays it in the Computer window with an assigned drive letter, then
    disconnect it.
    2. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog, type
    regedit, and press Enter.
    3. If prompted by UAC, then click on Yes.
    4. In Registry Editor, navigate to the location below:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\USBSTOR
    5. In the right pane of USBSTOR, double click on Start to modify it.
    6. Type in 4, click on OK.
    7. Close Registry Editor windows.

You can middle-click or Ctrl left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.
You can look at one of these extensions:

  • New Workaround: Nano's showing in Windows Explorer but not iTunes

Just tried it, since I've tried everything else so I thought I would share with everyone else.
I had a Nano that would not be detected in iTunes 7, but it would show in Windows Explorer as a Removable Drive.
    1. Disconnect iPod, close iTunes 7.
    2. Access Windows Task Manager --> (CTRLALTDEL)
    3. End "iPodService.exe" Process
    4. Reconnect iPod via USB
    5. Restart iTunes.
What I found was that when iTunes opens it restarts the Ipod service and will detect the unit in iTunes.
You may have to do this everytime you want to hook up your iPod until a fix comes.
    But hey it works.

Check to see if the Nano is enable for disk use. If it is, disable it. For whatever reason ITunes gives me problems when I leave both my iPod enable for disk use. Only one of them appears. When I Unchecked the disk use, the problem has gone away.

  • New folder is not visible inside my project but shows in Windows Explorer.

I created a new folder under another folder.  The new folder is not visible inside my project but shows in Windows Explorer.  Also, if I try to add another folder of that same name, it denies the action since the folder (although invisible) already exists.  My co-worker can access the same file (on a share drive) and see the new folder just fine.  This error occurs whether I was the one creating the new folder or she is the one creating the new folder.  I am new to RoboHelp and she has used it for years.  I suspect something is not yet set up right on my side.  Ideas? (I thought I posted this yesterday but I can't find it anywhere)

    Hi there
What version of RoboHelp are you using?
Did you create the folder from inside RoboHelp or did you create it using Windows Explorer?
    Cheers... Rick

  • "Show in Windows Explorer" option for song not working

I have the latest verson of iTunes 11.0.1 but have had this problem for awhile
Whenever I want to delete a song from iTunes, I usually delete the file as well. To do this, I'll right-click on the song & select "Show in Windows Explorer". However, the majority of the time I get the error message saying:
    "Location is not available
    C:\....\....\My Music is not accessible.
    Access is denied."
Every once & awhile it will work fine though & send me to the song in the Music folder. Any idea how to fix this?

A system restore fixed the problem.
I'm guessing the problem was caused by installing and uninstalling replacements (file browers) for Windows Explorer. Even though they were uninstalled and Explorer was running fine, iTunes had this problem.

  • Iphone 5 pictures not showing in Windows Explorer

When I plug my iPhone 5 to my company's laptop it is showing in windows explorer. I can go to the DCIM folder, but it's empty....there are plenty of pictures on it but they are not showing up....how's that?

  • Drive C showing in File Explorer under This PC and as a root namespace

For me Drive C, which I have named C - W10EVM, shows twice in File Explorer's navigation column.  I only have the one volume on this VM (C:).  I start the window with the command (in a desktop shortcut):
    C:\Windows\explorer.exe /expand,C:\
    This is what I see:
Anyone know what can be done to hide one or the other of them?
I guess, assuming other drives will show up as root namespaces, that I'd probably prefer to hide This PC.  Ideally then I'd only have drive letters and Network in the Navigation pane.
    Thanks.

Thanks for trying to help, Tony, but no, things are simple and basic on this system...  Nothing special with regard to cloning/mirroring.
Are you saying that if you open File Explorer you do not see duplication of drive C:?  Please show a screen grab of your Navigation pane, as I have done.

a lot of these USB disks are garbage. Remove the hard disk from the case and connect it to an available desktop which will be able to read the disk.

  • External harddrive won't show in windows explorer Windows 7

I have an interesting problem or so I think it's interesting. I have a n HP Pavilion DV6-7001ax,  Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit just turned a year old.  My problem is I had a 1tb western digital My Book Essential it's alos about a year old.  Two days ago for some reason It stop showing up in windows explorer.  I tried everything I know to get it to come back but no luck.  I thought the drive was dead, however I hook the drive up to my wife's desktop and after it installed the drivers it works just fine, she's using Window 7 Ultimate x64.  I tried it in my daughters laptop, she has a HP Pavilion also model under mine, the drive works just fine she's using windows 8 64bit and I have another laptop wich has Window 7 Home Premium 32bit and the external drive works just fine on it.  So I tried and tried and tried but it won't work.  My wife and daughter both have a 1tb seagate external drive and both work just fine on my laptop.  Note: I've plugged in several different USB devices and they all work except my WD external drive.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Seriously Frustrated

    AntonBC57,
    Turn off the computer.
As you turn it back on tap the F10 key. This will load BIOS setup utility.
    Press F9 to load defaults.
Press F10 to save and exit.
When the computer boots back up, check to see if everything is working.
Open up command prompt and run the following command SFC /scannow.
This will scan the system files and correct any errors that it can.
Here is a link to command prompt.
When you go to open command prompt, right click and run as administrator.
Since it has not been to long since the problem started, you can run a system restore.
This will take the system back to when everything was working correctly without affecting your personal files.
Here is a link on how to do a restore.
Let me know how everything goes
    Have a good day.

  • Boot Camp: Seagate External Drive not Recognized in Windows Explorer -- PLEASE HELP!

I'm running in Boot Camp and using a Seagate Free Agent GoFlex external drive as both a Time Machine backup on the Mac OS, as well as a storage unit to exchange files. However, whenever I plug my external drive into my computer while running Windows, it does not show up in the Computer tab under "Devices With Removable Storage", like it should. It does show up on the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" button in the bottom right hand corner, and it appears as a "Startup Disk" in the Boot Camp Control Panel, so I know that it isn't a cable or USB input issue. Please help me get it to appear as a Device in the Windows Explorer. I need to exchange files from my Mac OS to my Windows OS. Thank you in advance for the help.

I did it but i could not install tool from the dvd. As i said, i can still boot up windows xp i just needs to re-install the service tool.
    The drivers are working properly.

  • Ipod will not show in windows explorer

i only have had this problem since i upgraded the software on my ipod, and now i wished i hadnt.
the ipod displays fine in itunes, but only shows up in windows explorer while it is charging or being updated (for very limited amount of time).
i use my iPod as a usb drive, so can carry my work in one device rather than two. is this a new strategy apple are taking, by preventing people from accessing the drive or is it a bug in the new software. in either case i hope that they sort it out otherwise as i am considering updated my iPod, i may choose a Zen instead!
sorry bout the ranting- but if anyone can help me, please can you reply.
    thanks

  • RIFF Metadata not showing in Windows Explorer

    Hi -
I've been testing CS6 for inputting Metadata into the RIFF and BWF headers, and then opening them up in Audition 3.0.1 to see if the mapping is the same, or, if any fields are missing across products.
One thing I've discovered is that when I add metadata in CS6 and save the file, the file information (from the RIFF fields) does not display in Windows Explorer.
However, if I open the same file in Audition 3.0.1, the metadata is there, and if I re-save the file in Audition with a different name, the metadata does display in Windows Explorer.
Is this a bug, or, am I doing something wrong in CS6?
    Thanks!
    Allison
