Hi
I am in South Africa (Vodacom) and using Nokia N95 8GB (latest nokia firmware)
I have tried installing Flash Lite 3.1 developer edition (but all I get when installing is version 3.0.1(0) on installation. Also not showing in my application folder.
So I download Adobe Distributable Player 1.1 (from: http://www.flashmobileblog.com/2009/06/18/distributable-player-exansion-29-countries/ and http://www.flashmobileblog.com/2009/06/11/adobe-mobile-packager-1-1/)
Finally get it installed (SDK and perl 100%)
So load the "unsigned" SIS file on my phone via Nokia PC Suite
Run Application
Needs to connect to Internet (Internet.GRPS access point) to check version
FAIL.
At this stage I am not happy with Adobe. I follow all the steps, know that my country is listed, have all the right software installed and NOTHING.
Please explain to me what else I can do to get a working applicaiton on my N95 8Gb on Vodacom network in South Africa?

Ok here are the messages I get
1) Open Application: fanbase needs Adobe Flash Lite to run. Continue?
2) Adobe Version Checker - Internet.GRPS (default Vodacom APN)
3) Sorry Adobe Flash Lite is not Available for this device
I have a Nokia N95 8GB

I also downloaded the application from here http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/distributableplayer/distributableplayer_flashlite_ s60_en.sis and installed via Nokia PC Suite
It shows version 3.0.1(0) when installing, BUT I can't find where it installed to (not under applications)
So I can't manually load any new SWF files.
Please give me more advice please?

Flash isn't supported (nor Java or Silverlight). There are browsers such as Skyfire which can 'play' some flash content, but they don't appear to work for all sites/content judging by the reviews - and flash games (which, for example, most if not all of the games on Facebook are) can't be played at all. There is a gradual, but quite slow, switch away from flash to other technologies which do work on the iPad, so over (a long) time you should find that more content on websites is accessible via the iPad
Also a number of websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store so you might be able to get some of the content via them.

        We are currently in a process of evaluating flash for in-car HMI development. Our confidence level has increased after using the evaluation version of Adobe flash CS4 and we would like to know more about the Adobe Flash Lite License process for manufacturers. I have submitted a license request form here: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?event=mmform&name=flashlite couple of days back but didn't get any response so far. If anybody has already undergone through this license process please answer to the following queries.
1) What are the benefits of owning a Adobe Flash Lite License for the device manufacturers?
2) If I buy an Adobe Flash Lite License, will I get Adobe flash lite source code OR a binary Adobe Flash Lite run time?
3) Do you have a list of 3rd party developers who provide custom flash lite run time environment for specific hardware platform? I could find only QNX, but they dont provide flash lite runtime for other companies.
4) Where can I find information such as the production license fee per produced unit for a full functionality Adobe Flash Lite runtime?
5) Is linux version of Adobe Flash Lite (x86) available for download from Adobe?

Then it is integrated into Internet Explorer and lets you watch videos in FLV format; youtube, metacafe, ect. So once you install it all you need to do is go to youtube.

Have you checked if there are any firmware updates available for your phone (via Nokia Suite or on the phone itself)? If there are any, backup your personal data on the phone and update to the suggested version. After this, visit http://m.youtube.com in the in-built web browser, OR if that isn't working, then try it in Opera Mini or Opera Mobile (both available from the Nokia Store or by visiting m.opera.com in your web browser on the phone to download them).
As Adobe has ceased development of Flash player on both desktop and mobile platforms, there will be no more updates. I recall that on Series 60 Feature Pack 2 phones back in 2006/2007/2008, Adobe Flash Lite player updates were able to be downloaded and installed on the phone themselves, but since then the only updates to the Flash Player were provided in standalone firmware updates. Regardless, that is the situation.

Mhm. With a Nokia Series 40 phone like yours, Adobe Flash Lite is either integrated within the firmware or not available! You cannot add Flash yourself, as on other platforms. Which file type (file-name extension) or which Internet service do you want to use? Perhaps, we find a workaround together.

HellKing, could you double-check with FlashTester.org, please? You have to put that URL into an SMS, save that as draft, and then click on it (this open the native Internet browser). Then, you can check the version.

I had already seen that post, and the answers were not applicable to me. But thankfully I have found the solution now!
I Googled the error message: "org.apache.xerces.dom.DeferredElementImpl.getTextContent()Ljava/lang/ String", and came across the following bug report:

As suggested in the link above, I deleted the xerces.jar located in user.home/Library/Java/Extensions/. I then cleaned my project, and FB4 for Mac finally exported the release build!
That bug has been annoying me for MONTHS. I'm so happy it's fixed now!

What a Shame. Flash could have been left in. Many older sites use it and will not be updated anytime soon if ever. Now we have to hack around to get it working ourselves.

Adobe Flash Player Installer not doing anything?

This seems different from the problems other people have had on these forums with flash. My current flash works, but when I try to install the latest version and open Adobe Flash Player Installer, all I see is a grey rectangle, just a blank window with no buttons or text. When I close out of this window, I'm taken to a page on Adobe's website with the following message:

I followed both links, which had some basic info asking if I'd quit all my browsers before the install (I had), or if I'd allowed plugins in Safari preferences (also yes). I go back and try to install again and the same thing happens, endlessly. It is the same on all of my browsers (Safari, Chrome, and Firefox), and I have rebooted several times to no avail.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.

Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."
