Bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 (NL.) start to install. Everything goes smoothly until I try to open Editor. System asks me to vadidate my serialnumber. press button to validate, but, no reaction at all. No access. Have 6 days left to get this right. Who's helping out?

Save for web - animated gif problem PSE (Mac)

No fix, alas. This has been a problem in the mac version since PSE 6. If your gif is small, you can duplicate layers so that they appear to stay onscreen longer, but the best advice is to not use PSE/mac for this, unfortunately.

GIF/Save for Web problem (PSE 7)

I've tried searching for an answer to this problem but nothing seems to address quite what's happening.
I recently had to replace my laptop, and switched from Windows XP to Windows 7. I transferred PSE 7 from the old system to the new system, and have had no trouble with it- until now. I have a 52-layer Photoshop-format image that I would like to save as an animated .gif, with each layer as a different frame. File >> Save As has the option to save Layers as Frames, but if I check it, then click "Save", nothing happens. Nothing at all. On my old system, I'd get a new dialogue with options like quality, duration per frame, loop, etc, but that's not happening anymore, and nothing saves (if I go to find the new .gif file, it's just not there). If I DON'T choose "Layers as Frames", the .gif dialogue comes up just fine, and it has no trouble saving as a static .gif. But it seems that it's just refusing to save it in animated format.
I'm having the same issue with "Save For Web". Neither the file menu option or the keystroke command will bring up the dialogue to let me save it that way. It thinks for maybe a second, but then doesn't do anything else, and doesn't save the image.
I've already tried resetting the layout, just in case the dialogue box was shifted somewhere I just wasn't seeing, and I tried resetting the Save For Web preferences, but neither of those things worked. Any explanation as to why an animated "Layers as Frames" .gif is the only format that isn't saving properly?
I've also tried opening old animated .gifs that I created with XP, and they will not re-save as animated .gifs either. I get the "Do you want to save the changes made" dialogue, but clicking "Yes" doesn't do anything and doesn't save the updates. I'm at a complete loss for why this function no longer works.

It takes some getting use to the differences between xp and windows 7
in regards to permissions and all that stuff. Even when you install
programs on an administrative account, problems still persist sometimes.
What i do is always install programs by right clicking on the installer and
choosing Run as Administrator even when installing on an account with administrative
permissions. I seem to have less problems doing it that way. Anyway, just something to
keep in mind for the future.

Oval brush problem PSE 9

I am running photoshop elements 9 under Windows 7 x64 Home Premium.
I started PSE 9 today, imported an image, and tried to use a brush.   Instead of the usual round shape, I have an oval.   The lines it draws are thicker vertically than a horizontal line.   As such, it makes PSE completely useless to me.
Nothing I can find to adjust will remove this oval shape brush. I have tried resetting brushes, looking for every possible adjustment, in every likely menu, searching help files, and checking on Google for some help - somewhere. Zilch.
Other people have had this problem judging by a Google search - but no-one appears to have an answer to it. Its looking like a serious bug in PSE 9, but before I complain to Adobe, I though I would ask you folks to check there isn't some simple solution lurking in the menus somewhere.

I guess maybe the scanner is either trying to compensate for a document that doesn't quite fit in the scanning area or something to do with
the method of compression the scanner is saving the files with. Does your scanner offer different compression settings for tif files?
Saving images using Save for Web strips most of the exif type imformation in files so the files are as small as possible for web use. It was just a way of eliminating any information in the file to see if maybe the pixel aspect ratio had some bearing on the problem. (i'd forgotten that elements won't save bitmap files with save for web)
If you have a bunch of files that exhibit the same brush cursor problem, the script below will be placed on Automation Tools menu, so you don't have to open the script for every file, just acess the script from the Automation Tools menu. Also if you hit the cancel button in the dialog, elements won't show an error like it would in the previous script.
As before copy the script and then paste into notepad and save as:
SetPixelAspectRatioSquare.jsx
Then right click on the saved script and choose copy, then navigate to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9.0\Presets\Scripts
and in the scripts folder right click and choose paste, then start or restart pse9 and
the script should be listed under File>Automation Tools>Set Pixel Aspect Ratio Square.

Added: You have to make one small change in the script because of the lack of formatting
           options in the forum software. After you paste the script into notepad, on the second to last line change T he to The and then save the script.

How diagnose getSignatureValue().validate() problem?

Hi,
I've been working on an application to try to validate signatures in signed SOAP messages. My app seems to work all right, and so I've been running tests with several different test messages.
I have one particular message where core validation failed, so I've been trying to analyze this.
The reference validation (there is only one reference) succeeded, but I am getting a failure on the getSignatureValue().validate().
I am pretty sure that the key is ok, because other signed messages pass the core validation (both the reference and the signature), so I've been reviewing and re-reviewing Sean Mullans' article, at:

but I am having difficulty understanding the circumstances where the reference validation would succeed, and yet the validation of the signature itself would fail.
I was wondering if anyone could explain exactly what getSignatureValue().validate() is doing?
Given that I only have one reference, is this validate() method:
- Decrypting the <SignatureValue>, then
- Comparing the <DigestValue> in the decrypted <SignatureValue> against the <DigestValue>?
According to the article I mentioned above, re. the "Canonicalized SignedInfo" in the debug output
"This message displays the canonicalized SignedInfo element before it is signed. This is useful for
debugging canonicalization and signature verification failures."

per the linked article, I then set an InputStream:

Does anyone know about problems with Dutch power plug not fitting Belgium sockets?

I have bought my Mac Air in a Dutch online Apple Store to get a querty key board (i.s.o. azerty)
The power plug that came with it does not fit in my Belgium socket. The earth pin is to fat.
Is this a known problem or do I have an incompatible socket (ticino)?

In the Netherlands the CEE-7/4-Schuko-System is used for sockets
In Belgium the CEE 7/7 compatible "french" system is used for sockets
For that you only need to change the small removable plug on the magsafe.
As you can see, the plug is removabe from the magsave to plug in a different one or a extention cable.
So just went to the nearest belgian Apple Store or Apple Retail shop like SWITCH and by a new plug for your magsafe.

Resizing Problem PSE 11

Mac OSX 10.8.5
I have been resizing some of my scanned images on my hard drive to reduce their size and free up hard disc space.
The resizing process seems to be working normally - save.replace existing file etc. but strangely on RANDOM occasions
PSE11 does not overwrite the existing file,but simply creates an additional slimmed down duplicate of the file on my
hard drive. Names are absolutely identical.
I can achieve my objective by dragging the surplus oversized file to trash,but can anyone suggest why this is occurring ?

Certainly not possible in Windows, and I wouldn't think Mac any different. I suspect that maybe they are being saved as a different file type e.g. the original perhaps a jpg file and the new a tif. This would allow the first part of the file name to be the same. In Windows the default is to hide the last part of a filename (the file type), might this be the same in Mac? Can you display full filenames in Mac?

Language problem with streets in Brussels

I have a problem with the Maps application on my Nokia 3710.
Street names in Brussels (Belgium) are only available in Dutch. The equivalent name in French is between brackets, but it is impossible to search the street using the French version. This is very frustrating, because you don't always know the Dutch equivalent name of a street everyone - including the expats - calls by its French version (Brussels is 90% French-speaking.)
How can I fix this?

Map in iMovie not available in dutch

When I change Mac language in English, I have maps in iMovie.
Language Dutch: no maps.
In version before latest, no problem in Dutch.

Bug is well-known, and I really don't understand, why that wasn't fixed in the last update...

• set iMovie to English (here: German), a very handy tool doing that is
Language Switcher
it allows to set individual apps to a different language than the System
• apply your maps, quit iM
• relaunch in Dutch ...
as you can see: Project in German => maps, relaunched in Dutch: no maps in Browser, but in Project fully functional ..

Itunes problems since i deleted some files?

Does anyone know how i can solve my problem ( since 3 months already ). I'm translating my problem from dutch so there can be differences. If i start Itunes it says : " the file Itunes can not be found or made but is nessecarry. Standard the file is located in the file My music" i have those maps and reinstallation does not help.
Does anyone know?

die Lösung des Problems: PSE 10 hat eine "Macke" die offensichtlich gerade repariert wird und durch ein update (wann auch immer) korrigiert werden kann. Uff - also, wir haben nichts übersehen, alles richtig gemacht, aber nicht Adobe. Ich habe mit dem Kundenservice telefoniert und diese Antwort erhalten. Warten wir es ab.

Was allerdings nicht geht, ist, aus LR4 heraus ein Bild in PSE 10 zu öffnen. Ich habe PSE 10 in den Voreinstellungen konfiguriert (dies wurde in diesem Thread ja weiter oben auch schon beschrieben). Dazu habe ich zwei Varianten probiert: Die Auswahl des Alias "Photoshop Elements 10", welche unter /Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements/ zu finden ist. Das hat nicht funktioniert. Danach habe ich in den Alias hineingesehen, und bin dem dort angegebenen Pfad gefolgt. Dieser führt zu der Datei "Photoshop Elements Editor", die in einem Unterverzeichnis von obigem Ordner unter ./Support Files/ liegt. Damit hat es leider auch nicht funktioniert.
Haben wir möglicherweise in der Konfiguration nicht die richtige Datei zum Start von PSE 10 ausgewählt? Oder übersehen wir noch etwas anderes?

Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 won't load

Hi,
I just received PSE-8 DVD. I found that the DVD player reads something but never get the program to install loaded.
1-WIN XP-PRO SP3.
2-Norton INternet Security 2010
3-3GHZ processor.
4-Gigabyte DVD player
5-I have no other installation problems(PSE-4 installed OK, still installed).
6-I have disabled NIS 2010 Antivirus/Firewall/Tampering & used MSCONFIG to not load startup items as well as non-Microsoft services, no luck.
7-If I rightclick on DVD drive-e, My Computer hangs, and if I view Taskmanager the result is "Not Responding"

Can I accept the Adobe DVD must be faulty ? It states XP/Vista/WIN7.

Try using Windows Explorer to copy the contents of the DVD to a folder on your desktop. If that doesn't work, then there's an incompatibility between the DVD and your drive. If you have access to another computer, try copying the DVD contents there to a flash drive or external drive. If Windows Explorer on two different computers can't copy the DVD, then you know it's the disk that's the problem, and you should ask the seller for a replacement. If the other computer can copy the DVD, then it's likely that the fault is with your DVD drive.
If you can successfully copy the contents of the DVD to a folder on your desktop or a drive, then you can double-click setup.exe in the copy to install it.
