Validating the installation sequence of OBIEE

We are planning an OBIEE implementation soon. I wanted to validate a sequence of installation steps... Any feedback on my sequence of steps is welcomed. Thanks
1. Install third party software required on the server (i.e. Java SDK)
2. Install the Oracle client software (version 10g) on all corresponding servers
3. Install the Application Server software
4. Install the OBIEE server software
5. Install the Presentation server software
6. Install OBIEE client tools on the user desktops
7. Install other OBIEE add-on products (Disconnected clients, BI Open Intelligence Interface, BI Office Plug in, Brief Book Reader)
8. Configure BI Server options, configure Presentation Server, configure BI Scheduler, configure BI Publishing Report tool
9. Install/create DW Database server with Spatial and Text options -
10. Install APEX

Hello guys, I am using the installer to install OBIEE 11.1.7.0 on my machine. When I get to step 6, I receive the error messages below:
INST-08010: Error in validating the port range for auto port allocation. At least 2 ports should be free within the range 7000-7500 for the Adminserver and Adminserver SSL.
Ensure that a minimum of 2 ports are free within the range 7000-7500 for auto port allocation to work correctly for the Adminserver and Adminserver SSL.

In setDomainEnv.sh set debugFlag=false or you can just remove it.
NodeManager is a charm after that. it can take any number of ports.

How to check installation type in OBIEE

Hi all,
I need to upgrade OBIEE 11.1.1.5 to OBIEE 11.1.1.7. OBIEE 11.1.1.5 was installed by other person.
In-Place upgrade is not possible in simple install.
I need to check the installation type in OBIEE 11.1.1.5.
Kindly guide me as soon as possible.

In that link as a part of simple install, he is getting the analytics port as 9704 and not as 7001 like you said below

"The task sequence has been suspended" when using a conditional task sequence

I'm getting the dreaded "The task sequence has been suspended. LiteTouch has encountered and Environment Error (Boot into WinPE!)" when using a conditional task sequence.
I've created a "Install Application" task right before the "Restart Computer" in the postinstall phase. The task installs a Dell Bios update. I've added two WMI conditions on the task, to match it with the correct model and to check that the
bios not current. This works very well, except for a strange issue. When the computer reboots into WinPE, I get the error above. The message stays for about 30 second and then disappears. After that the computer reboots into Windows
7, runs the Bios Update and throws up a similar message but with the addition of Use the desktop shortcut to resume. (however there is no shortcut). The message disappears after a while and the process stops there. If I reboot
manually, the installation will continue and finish without any error. It's as if a LTIsuspend.wsf was inserted.
Does anyone have any clue what's happening?

Thanks for the answers, but I finally figured it out. The problem was due to where I had inserted it during the deployment sequence. The bios update task sequence was attempting to run in WinPE. I moved the sequence to the state restore
section and now it's working perfectly. I was trying to run the update earlier during the installation sequence, as was recommened by Dell, but that doesn't appear to be feasible. This will have to do.

Not able to open Admin Tool in OBIEE 10.1.3.1 after the installation

Hi Friends,
After installing OBIEE (10.1.3.4.1 in Windows) i am not able to open Admin tool,when i click on the Administration it doesnt respond and i dont see any error message either.i have installed 10.1.3.1 several times before and i never faced this type of issue.I re-installed 4- 5 times and overwritten the existing s/w but still see the same issue.I am able to start the services and default RPD is working fine but not able to open the RPD and also i am able to launch the Catalog Manager.
I searched online but it didn't help me,please share if anyone has faced the similar issue before and found the resolution.

i tried to launch the Admin tool from OracleBI\server\Bin after the installation but its not responding,seems issue with Admin Tool as i am able to launch other applications.

Try the following:
Uninstall iTunes and Quicktime
Reboot
in the task tray right click the quicktime icon and click exit.
navigate to the folder in program files and remove the quicktime directory and all its files.
Reboot.
Now try install iTunes and quicktime and it should work

Let's check your Windows system.
1. Have you done all the important windows updates and service Packs on your system. If not do it now. START button, type in Windows Update and ENTER. Select 'CHECK FOR UPDATES'
2. Let's check your Windows system files for possible file corruption
SCAN and repair possible Windows system file corruption:
Go to command prompt (START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES right mouse click "command prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator"
type in
sfc /scannow
let Windows fix any system files that need to be repaired.
Restart the computer if it did actually repair any files.
3. Check your system for possible Malware. But you have to do it in WIndows Safe Mode.
Start your computer in "Safe mode with networking", go to this link download a free version of Malwarebyte.

Install and perform update immediately, then do a full SCAN. Remove malware if it indeed finds any. Restart computer to regular windows to let Malwarebyte complete the removal.

When your computer is in safe mode, you'll see the words Safe Mode in the corners of your screen. To exit safe mode, restart your computer and let Windows start normally.

If you are not already doing so, install from an Administrator account.
If you haven't already done so, download the iTunes Installer from:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Then right click on the installer and select "Run as Administrator." (Even though you are using an admin account).
If that doesn't work, try creating a new administrator account and installing from there.

I-tunes won't download onto Windows XP. Error message 'this application package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this a a valid window Installation package'.

How do you download i-tunes onto Windows XP when error message occurs, 'This application pack could not be opened. Verify that hte package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid window installation package'.

I wish I knew because i'm having the same problem. As soon as I find the answer I will post.
