Validating XML

Question

I am trying to write a piece of code that validates an XML document against a Schema. Here is the code I have written:

        try{
            DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
            DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
            Document schema = builder.parse("c:/xmlexamples/validation/Solutions/files/DeadOrAliveSchema.xsd");
            factory.setNamespaceAware(true);
            factory.setValidating(true);
            factory.setAttribute(JAXP_SCHEMA_LANGUAGE, W3C_XML_SCHEMA);
            factory.setAttribute(JAXP_SCHEMA_SOURCE, schema);

}Do I need to do anything in the XML document for validation? If I was validating in NetBeans I would added the xmlns schemalocation to the root element. When I run the code nothing happens. Even if I make the XML document invalid for the schema. Some assistance would be greatly appreciated.
