Validation after Excel File Upload in Table Maintenance
Hello All,
I've done extensive research on this topic and still have yet to find the answer. I have created a custom button in the TMG to upload an Excel file to the table maintenance using the FM CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>GUI_UPLOAD. I updated the EXTRACT and TOTAL table so it will show up in the TMG interface, but no validations occur. So, I am now trying to do the validations of this file upload. I would like to validate each record and allow the user to modify the error record then continue validating the rest. Essentially I would like to mimic the functionality that occurs when multiple records are copied to the table maintenance and validated one by one. Updating the EXTRACT table through ABAP, does not reach the PAI where the validations occur.
Is this approach possible? If not, what would be the best way to do validations, inform the user of the error record, and allow modification in the table maintenance interface?
Thanks,
Justin
Or just a report program - have the file name on the selection screen.
1) Upload the file
2) Validate the file and produce error messages.
3) Based on the validations, update the table.

Help with uploading an excel file to a table using an application
Hello,
Can anyone please help me out with this issue. I have apex application where in the end users upload an excel file to a table. For this I have followed the solution provided in this link
http://avdeo.com/2008/05/21/uploading-excel-sheet-using-oracle-application-express-apex/
Using the above solution, I was able to upload the excel data to a table "sample_tbl1" successfully with fields Id,acct_no,owner_name,process_dt. But the thing is I want accomdate a particular condition while uploading the file data, to check see if the acct_no already exists in another table say "sample_tbl2" or not. If acct_nos already exists in sample_tbl2 then give out an error displaying the list of account numbers that already exists in the database. Below is the code which I am using to upload file data to a table.

END;
{code}
Can anyone please help me, how do i accomdate the condition within my existing code.
thanks,
OrtonOrton,
From your code it appears that the account No comes in the second column of the file = > v_data_array(1)
So You can put a conditional block around the execute immediate code that inserts the records
For instance
SELECT count(1) INTO ln_account_no_exists from <"sample_tbl2> where account_no = v_data_array(1);
IF ( ln_account_no_exists > 0 ) THEN
--Account No: already exists
<Do what you want to do here >
ELSE
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE ...
END IF:
{code}
Inorder to handle the account no records which exists you can
<li>Raise an exception
<li> Write record to table or insert into collection and then use a report region in the page based on this table/collection to show error records
<li> Append errored account No:s to the Success Message Variable programmatically(this variable is used by PLSQL process success/error message )
{code}
IF ( record exists)
apex_application.g_print_success_message := apex_application.g_print_success_message||','|| v_data_array(1) ; -- Comma separated list of errored account no:s
ELSE ...
{code}
Hope it helps -
Help Required:How Upload Excel file Into Oracle Table Using PLSQL Procedure
Please Help , Urgent Help Needed.
Requirement is to Upload Excel file Into Oracle Table Using PLSQL Procedure/Package.
Case's are :
1. Excel File is On Users/ Client PC.
2. Application is on Remote Server(Oracle Forms D2k).
3. User Is Using Application Using Terminal Server LogIn.
4. So If User Will Use to GET_FILE_NAME() function of D2K to Get Excel File , D2k Will Try to pick File from That Remote Server(Bcs User Logind from Terminal Server Option).
5. Cannot Use Util_File Package Or Oracle Directory to Place That File on Server.
6. we are Using Oracle 8.7
So Need Some PL/SQL Package or Fuction/ Procedure to Upload Excel file on User's Pc to Oracle Table.
Please Guide me wd some Code. or with Some Pl/SQL Package, or With SOme Hint. Or any Link ....
Jus help to Sort This Issue ........
you can also write me on :
[email protected], [email protected]TEXT_IO is a PL/SQL package available only in Forms (you'll want to post in the Forms forum for more information). It is not available in a stored procedure in the database (where the equivalent package is UTL_FILE).
If the Terminal Server machine and the database machine do not have access to the file system on the client machine, no application running on either machine will have access to the file. Barring exceptional setups (like the FTP server on the client machine), your applications are not going to have more access to the client machine than the operating system does.
If you map the client drives from the Terminal Server box, there is the potential for your Forms application to access those files. If you want the files to be accessible to a stored procedure in the database, you'll need to move the files somewhere the database can access them.

Hi,
Any function module is there to upload an excel file into internal table in CRM 7.0 system?
Thanks.Hi Ginger,
If u have access to ECC R/3 make use FM 'TEXT_CONVERT_XLS_TO_SAP' source code which is existing to convert to Excel to Internal table. It will work in CRM also.
As of Now I don't have access to SAP S/m. Mean while u can try as above said.

How to transfer data from excel files into z-tables
Please help me with a code which transfers data from excel file to z-table.
Thanks in advance
ShuvirHi Daniel,
Export Data
Purpose
Use this procedure to export SAP data to a local file such as Microsoft Excel.
Menu Path
Use the following menu path to begin this process:
· SystemèListèSaveèLocal File
Helpful Hints
When reviewing fields, R = Required, O = Optional and C = Conditional.
Procedure
1. Start the transaction using the menu path or transaction code.
Whatever Data You Want to Export
2. Select SystemèListèSaveèLocal File. This works well for any data in SAP. This is the only option for the top-level (first page) of a report.
In a drill-down view within a report the Local File button on the toolbar may be used and has the same options.
Choose File Format
3. Click .
4. Click to continue. If prompted for a format after choosing Spreadsheet, select Excel Table to get an Excel file that can be modified more easily.
Choose File Save Location Step 1
5. Click to the right of the Directory field to choose a different location.
Choose File Save Location Step 2
6. Click or browse your computer to locate the directory where you want to save your file.
7. Complete the following field:
· File name:
You must add the proper file extension to the name of your file (.xls for Excel, .rtf for Rich Text, .html for HTML). The file extension tells your computer what program to open the file with. If you do not have the file extension at the end, you may not be able to open it.
8. Click to continue.
Generate File in Location and Format Selected
9. Click to create the file in the location and format selected. In this example the file was named "example.xls" and saved on the desktop.
Result
You have completed the export process.
thanks

Excel file upload in background
Hi
any one inform me how to Excel file will be Executed as a background job.
The Excel file will be executed as a background job.
This will eliminate issues related to network speed,
time-outs,user logging off,ect;
and the need for the user to remain logged in to the transaction till it finishes
execution. After the background job completes the output report will be sent to the
user via email as an attachment.

function module for email attachment -
function module SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1
function module for background schedule - u2018ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLEu2019
When scheduling a job in the background the appropriate statement to read in your file is OPEN DATASET, and the file must be on the file system that the SAP server can see.
At anytime, a user can switch of the Personal Computers even though the job is still running in the background. Therefore GUI_* and WS_* function modules are not designed to work in that way, as they need to access your personal computer file.
To choose the correct download method to used, you can check the value of SY-BATCH in your code,
if it is 'X' use OPEN DATASET and if it is ' ' use WS_UPLOAD.

Excel file upload possible?
Hello BW Experts,
Is it possible to upload Excel files into BW? not refereing to csv...
i remember in one of the project they did this usingg bdc / lsmw or somethhing. can you please help me get the exact procedure..
Thanks,
BWerYou can load the Excel file to a Table in SAP R/3 using LSMW and BDC but not to an infocube.
The reason is that when you load an infocube or master infoobjects the SID for each dimension is created automatically and you can't have any control over that.
Only way to upload the data is going through formal way of creating infosource and infopack.

[http://avdeo.com/2008/05/21/uploading-excel-sheet-using-oracle-application-express-apex/]
But the problem is they mentioned only for *.CSV* file i want to do that for *.XLS* file
i dont want to change it as .CSV.
Can anyone help me out.
Cheers,
JayaThere are java libraries that you can load into your database to handle the processing of the xls into a format that can be used to insert into your tables, but it would be MUCH easier to just explain to your client the need to have them save the data into a CSV style file..
(Here is an article on how to do this in the database.. [http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/saternos_tables.html])
Thank you,
