Validation Before submit data of web service

HI guys,
I need ur help as I am using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.2 in desiging an offline eform that takes data from user and insert it in a DB using a WSDL of web service in the server . I had now the button that execute the web service method whose parameters are binded to some fields ,But I need to validate those field in time of submittion?
So I tried To write the validation script in the preExec event handler but if that right I need to know how to cancel execution event from preExec?
And if it not right Please help me in another way
Thank You.
Osama

To cancel the event (the submit in this case) you woudl use xfa.event.cancelAction = true;
This was added in version 8 I believe so if you are using a Reader/Acrobat earlier than that this will not work.
You could have your real submit button hidden and expose a regular button to the user for submission. This woudl allow you to write code on the regular button to check your validations and if they work out then you woudl hit the submit button programmatically:
buttonName.execEvent("click")
Hope that helps

  • Can we apply custom validation before uploading data in WebADI in 12.1.3

    Hi,
    I have requirement of applying custom validation before uploading data from spreadsheet using webADI. How can we do that.
    Is there any way in desktop Integration Manager Responsibilty in WebADI.
    I have just started exploring webADI
    Please Help Me...
    Thanks,
    Suhani

    Why are you posting this in OAF?
    Anyway you can by creating a custom PL/SQL wrapper that is called by the WebADI.
    Raise an application ERROR in your wrapper and it will show in the WebADI
    If you just want to validated VALUES, you are better of creating an LOV on the Column. Then WebADI will do the validation work for you.

  • Need help in design the scenario sending data to web service

    Hello All,
    I need to send data to web service and get the response back.
    i want to use HTTP to soap Scenario.Please let me know the necessary steps in the scenario.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Chinna

    Hi Chinna,
    > i want to use HTTP to soap Scenario.Please let me know the necessary steps in the scenario.
    Split this into 2 scenarios
    1. HTTP to SOAP (Request) treated as Asynchronous.
    2. SOAP to HTTP (Responce) treated as Asynchronous.
    For HTTP to SOAP synchronous scenario
    Here the receiver side request and responce structures no need to create, the receiver client will provide you the XSD file, on that XSD file having the request and responce message structures, so you have to import that to XI server as External definition.
    For sender HTTP you have to create 2 data types, 2 message types as well as 2 message interfaces, 2 message mappings for request and responce messages and 2 service/Message interfaces (HTTP is outbound and SOAP is inbound).
    Configuration objects are same.
    Regards
    Ramesh

  • Want to find out how much data a Web Service is sending to client (JWSDP)

    Well, the subject line didn't fit what I was intended to say, so if you don't get what I am saying in the subject line, I am sorry.
    My question is... I have a Web Service client that uses stub classes generated by wscompile in JWSDP. I am wondering, it there a way to find out how much data the Web Service is sending back to my client.
    The reason I asked is this, I used WebLogic 7.0 workshop to create a Web Service and also used JWSDP to create the same Web Service which deploys to Tomcat. The generated WSDL files from WebLogic workshop and JWSDP that expose the same functionalities have differences. The WSDL from WebLogic workshop is 1.5 times the size of the WSDL from JWSDP. When I tested both with client programs, calling the Web Service in Tomcat (which uses JWSDP to built) is much quicker than calling the Web Service in WebLogic.
    For this reason, I would liked find out if the Web Service from WebLogic is sending more data than the one created with JWSDP.
    Thanks.

    I've used the TcpTunnelGui utility to see the HTTP flowing up and down the wire, that might help you.

  • How get data from Web Service with token?

    Can I get data from Web Service made with Java?
    This WS has a Token.
    Any ideas o reference?

    We've now added this ability to Web.Contents. You can say something like
    Web.Contents("http://my.web.service/1", [Headers=[#"The-Token"="0a0138ef2d"]])
    and it will pass a header with the key "The-Token" and the value "0a0138ef2d" as part of the HTTP request. For security reasons, this will only work for anonymous web requests.

  • Data entry form to submit to a web Service using webcenter

    Currently using Jdev 11.1.1.3, but have potential to upgrade to 11.1.1.4 or 5
    Most examples I see in the docs is using web services in webcenter is to display data but I need to pass data to a web service to process the data.
    Considering ways to show on a webcenter page a data entry form to send the entered data to a web service. Potential ways:
    1. Use Omniportlet that is based on a web service and define for each of the fields a parameter mapped to a displayed field. Submit the data to the web service to be processed.
    2. Use ADF syntax to create a web service proxy. Create a form with the needed fields, code a managed bean that uses the proxy code to submit the entered data in the form. Place the form on the webCenter page, but the webcenter already have a <af:form>, so a partialSubmit and autoSubmit set to "true" might be needed.
    Haven't used either and would greatly appreciate ideas and suggestions.
    Thanks

    With the omniportlet, you'll also have to test the form and so on :)
    My suggestion is indead an extra step but it is more flexible than just creation a DC from a WSDL. I already have done some implementation in Webcenter for web services and i started by just using the DC from a WSDL but soon i noticed that i needed more flexibility. That's why i suggest to create a proxy and create your own layer in front of it. This way you can easily control what you expose to your DC and do some initializations were needed. It offers a great deal of flexibility. That's why i suggest using the proxy + dc instead of wsdl + dc.
    When you should decide for migrating to Webcenter PS3, you can even expose datacontrols to your resource catalog. This way you can create your DC in JDeveloper and allow the business users to put the data controls on the page. a realy nice feature.

  • How to Retrieve Data From Web Service with Optional Arguments

    This should be a simple one. I have a web service that
    returns a list of books. There are 3 optional arguments that can be
    passed to this (ex. book type, author, id) to filter this list. Do
    I still need to use the <mx:request> tags if I am not going
    to pass any parameters to the web service?
    When I look at the services browser in Flex, it says "unable
    to get meta data for CFC". However, if I remove the arguments from
    the CFC and then call the service again, all my data now appears.
    What's the best way to appoach this?
    Thanks in advance

    I have a similar application. What I have done is create one
    argument in my CFC, with a type of "struct". Then, in the Flex
    Application, I create an Object (Associative Array), and pass this
    to the CFC as that one argument.
    Here is the ActionScript:
    // Create the variable to be passed to the WebService
    [Bindable]
    private var object:Object = new Object();
    Then in another function, you create the Object, based on
    specified values - perhaps from ComboBox selections:
    object.bookType = comboBox1.selectedItem["bookType"];
    object.author = comboBox2.selectedItem["author"];
    object.id = comboBox3.selectedItem["id"];
    Then you pass that one argument in your <mx:request>:
    <mx:WebService id="getBooks" wsdl"
    http://server.com/service.wsdl"
    showBusyCursor="true"
    fault="alert(event.fault.faultstring)">
    <mx:operation name="sBooks">
    <mx:request>
    <args>{object}</args>
    </mx:request>
    </mx:operation>
    </mx:WebService>
    Your CFC might look like this:
    <cfcomponent>
    <cffunction method="sBooks">
    <cfargument name="args" type="struct">
    </cffunction>
    </cfcomponent>
    Then you can worry about validating the values passed to the
    CFC in the CFC function. That way, you could send an empty struct
    if you wanted, and the CFC would not throw an exception.
    Hope that helps.

  • Submit pdf to web service as xml

    I want to do the following:
    a) Create a pdf form that the user can fill out and save using their laptop.
    b) The user goes back to the office, opens the pdf, and clicks a submit button.
    c) The submit button contacts a web service (that I will write) and submits the xml from the pdf so that the information they filled in gets submitted to my web service. From there I will do whatever I need to with the xml, I just need to get it there.
    Here are my questions:
    1) It looks like I can do this using Acrobat Pro by clicking the "Extend Features in Adobe Reader". Is this true or do I need LiveCycle?
    2) Is their a white paper, tutorial, or some sample code that someone can point me to? This sounds very simple but I'm having difficulty finding any documentation that actually describes the process that's not 5 years old.
    TIA,
    Greg

    If you are only going to use the Reader Enablement features available when using Acrobat (and NOT LiveCycle), then you can ONLY post data (XML or otherwise) to a server via standard HTTP POST. SOAP support is ONLY enabled for Reader when using LiveCycle...

  • Connecting and sending data to web service

    Hi,
    I have to implement the functionality in PDF document to connect with the web service and send the form data in xml format on Click event of a button inside the form.
    During the initial development and testing I have found that document can only connect with the Web Service from within LiveCycle Designer or Adobe Pro. It doesn't work with the Reader.
    After surfing the internet I have come to know that Reader extensions are required along with Adobe Reader to communicate with the web services. Am I right?
    Furthermore, what I have to do is to distribute the PDF form to a number of people who will fill the form and submit the form data by clicking the Submit button (which will internally communicate with the web service to send data) on the form. So if extensions are required to communicate with web services from Reader, then what I am assuming is that all those people must have extensions installed on their machines along with Reader.
    On some forum I have also read that you only need to install the Extensions on the Designer machine and they are not compulsory to be on every client machine. i.e. Exntesions enable the web services communication features in the PDF form during design time. Is it true?
    Thanks in anticipation,
    Qarshi

    Be careful, your question should be posted in "LiveCycle Reader Extensions" forum. LiveCycle Data Services doesn't deal with these features.
    Nevertheless, to use webService calls from a PDF opened in the free Adobe Reader, you need to Reader extend your form.
    You can use Acrobat Pro to extend it if the PDF will not be used by more than 500 people.
    If you plan to reach more than 500 people, then you must consider LiveCycle Reader Extensions. This limitation is explained in the Acrobat EULA.
    The final users only need the Adobe Reader, they won't have to install any extension or plug-in.

  • Presence data from web service

    Hello,
    i like to get presence data from the presenceconsumer web service. But everytime a call getUserPresence i get a PolicyException (POL0002): 'Privacy verification failed for address %1, request is refused'.
    I use a web service proxy generated from the wsdl of the presenceconsumer web service. Authentication is made against the appregationproxy by setting username and password. Both users (the one i use for authentication and the one whose presence data i want to get) are registered in the timesten database.
    The user whose presence data should be accessed is logged in the OracleCommunicator and has the other user on the allowed list for presence data.
    All other operations of the presence web services work without any problem, so why not getUserPresence?
    Thanks for help

    Hi,
    I have found the problem and fixed it :)
    If you see my code, I was checking for the pending subscriptions after publish() method. When I tried this check before publish() method, I got the expected results (All the pending subscriptions).
    Also, I got an error (ServiceException) while dynamically retrieving the subscribed attributes for some reason. I have found an alternative solution, by manually allowing only the PresenceAttributeType.Activity (instead of all getSubscribedAttributes()).
    Note: This code was working fine in my local machine because, I have already setup-ed the users (Buddy list) through Oracle communicator in my machine. I was not able to install OC in the VM for some reason though OS is same in both my machine and the VM (OS: Windows 2000 SP4).
    thanks & regards,
    S.Vasanth Kumar.
    My latest code for your reference.

  • Displaying data from Web Service Data Control on a page

    Hi,
    I have a problem with a Web Service Data Control.
    The web service is executed:
    1) When the page (.jspx) is loading. Every time that the page is loaded, the web service is executed!
    2) From a submit button. In this case the web servide is executed two times, in the submit and in the loading of the page.
    I want to avoid the first case because i have to reduce the called to ws. I want to use the second case to call the web service (only one time).
    How can i avoid the execution of the web service when the page (form) is loading?
    Thanks

    Hello Arun,
    I've set refreshCondition property for the iterator to #{!adfFacesContext.initialRender} but doesn't work correctly.
    I'm testing the property with the example in:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/wssamplebase-321929.zip
    I am using Oracle IDE 11.1.1.5.
    Have you got any ideas what might be the problem.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Xcelsius can't use transfer the default date to web service

    Hi all visitors
    i created one web service that use store procedure.
    in my store has 2 parameters( shopcode,MonthYear),so in web method, i also create two parameters too(shopcode,MonthYear).
    for xcelsius, i create one calender( for MonthYear param) and the default month is "April/2011 and the default of shopcode is "s01". when the dashboard load the the first time, it doesn't show any data to my listview. but if i input that parameters to the store procedure, the store will show 20 record. and in dashboard, after load i change the default shopcode "s01' to "s02", it will show the data of shop2 "s02" and i change from shop2 "s02" to shop1"s01",It will show 20 records the same with store.
    The problem is when the dashboard load at the first time even the default shopcode and MonthYear are right, It can't show the data.
    Anybody know about this? This i of WebService or Dashboard?

    Hi Chamnan Heng,
    It seems your connection refreshes before those values (s01, date) are populating in the binded cells.
    For this you can use a alternate method.
    add a connection refresh button.
    Set that button to refresh your web service connection.then,
    (ii)Connection button`s properties>behaviour>Trigger behaviour check the "Refresh after components Are loaded "check box.

  • Complex data to web service

    I have read many posts and alot of documentation and would
    just like to confirm that it is NOT possible to pass what you could
    consider "complex" data to a web service. Data that is in an array,
    ArrayCollection, or even a actionscript class, that I need to pass
    to a .net web service (c# or vb.net) does not come out on the other
    side. I have tried making the .net web service parameter an object,
    array, arraylist, byte array, xml node, etc -- nothing happens.
    Am I wrong? If so, could anyone provide some code (on both
    the Flex 2.0 and .net web service side) that shows how to take the
    complex data sent from Flex to the web service and actually
    properly read the data in the web service. The intent would
    obviously to update a SQL Server database.
    Currently, my Flex web service calls have many many parameter
    tags under the <mx:request> tag - each one corresponding to
    the input parameter of the .net web service. My intent is to
    simplify the input parameters on both sides.
    Again, am I waiting for Flex 3.0 or am I just a little
    slow?

    Thank you for your reply. However, I have no problem getting
    data into Flex from .net (web service). It is getting data from
    Flex back into .net (web service) that I have an issue with. I can
    pass simple strings, numbers, bool, etc but it is when I try to
    pass ArrayCollections, actionscript classes , etc from Flex to .net
    that I can not seem to get it to work. Any help in this area would
    be greatly appreciated.
