Validation Windows 7 not genuine
We have a site license for Windows 7. For the vast majority of the PCs we have installed, everything is working fine. They are installed on our normal Corporate Network with access to the intrnet. We have a smaller group of PCs that were installed the same
way, cloned, but is cutoff from our normal Corporate network. For Windows Update, there has been an exception made so that these machines can get to the corporate Windows Update Site. But now, one by one, they are coming up with the Windows 7 not genuine message.
As I said, these copies are legal as we have the necessary site license. How do I get Windows to recognize these PCs as valid? Do we need to punch another hole in our firewall to get to a particular Windows site?
Tim
Hi,
Do you use KMS to activate your clients?
You can try this command to reinstall all licenses files:
Slmgr /rilc
On the other hand,
the CMID should be a unique value per KMS client, how do you cloned your computer?
The KMS current count does not increase when you add new Windows Vista or Windows 7-based client computers to
the network

Windows Not Genuine after cloning HDD to SSD
After cloning an HP OEM installation (that originally had the HP OEM activation) from the original HDD to a new SSD, Windows started popping up with the Windows not genuine message.
Windows DOES claim that it's activated.
What I've done is:
http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows/help/genuine/product-key#T1=tab01
and changed the product key to use the key from the COA sticker on the system. This didn't work.
As an Run As Administrator CMD prompt,
slmgr.vbs -upk
reboot
slmgr.vbs -ipk {<var>ProductKey from COA sticker</var>}
Still no joy, still comes up showing activated and not genuine.
C:\Windows\system32>cscript c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs -dli

I actually have this issue, exactly the same procedure cloning on 12 identical machines with the same factory image, but the problem is occurring only on 4 machines.
What next?Here's the diagnostic report.

HDD died, recovered drive and imaged to new drive. Now get Windows is not genuine popups. Contacted Microsoft, activation seems to be intact, they said to contact HP to see why product key is locked. Tried submitting a ticket to HP, but didn't let me because product is out of service period. How can I get this popup to go away, I don't want to reinstall windows. Windows not genuine, after a while.
Hi,
We are a local pc repair service, and after we reinstall Windows 7 (or Vista, not XP) Windows Activates just fine (trough OEM License, that did come with that PC or notebook)
But after a month or so, Windows will start up and says: This copy of Windows is not genuine.
So we have to reactivate.
Anyway to prevent this from happening?
Regards
Wanna know what will be a good pc to buy? Create your own ;)Hi have had this computer with windows seven for 4 years now and it just now is telling me that I may not have a genuine system. I suspected the problem since I could not download an update from about 3 months ago. Then about 4 weeks ago my system said
it could not find the serial number. Is this a virus? I have seen the price for windows genuine and I want to be sure before I spend money on something that I may not need.

Windows not genuine error (0x8007000D)
I keep getting a message telling me that windows is not genuine and my background has disappeared. I tried doing a system restore and this worked but the next time I turned on my laptop it was again saying that my copy of windows is not genuine. I am on
an hp laptop that I bought nearly 3 years ago and it has been working fine until now.
A while ago my microsoft office programs stopped working and while trying to sort that problem, I think I may have caused this one. I'm not sure if this is related but while trying to solve the first program, one suggestion I read involved the device manager,
but when I checked this it was empty?! I'm sure it shouldn't be. Please can someone help me with both problems.
ThanksHi Andy,
This is the report I got.

Windows not genuine after factory reset
Hey guys,
So i have a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6005 that i have owned all 4 years of college. On sunday i restored my computer back to how it was when i bought it by pressing the 0 key on start up. I followed the on screen instructions and wiped everything to start fresh. Everything went smoothly and i was able to do all 200+ windows updates and my computer was working perfectly. Then on tuesday a window pops up saying that my windows is not genuine. I checked my system properties in the control panel and there its says under windows activation at the bottom "Status not available" and "Product ID: Not Available". So i go to the start menu and try to run "Activate Windows" and i recieve an error code 0xC0020012.
I attached a screen shot of the error message as well as my system properties to show the status is not available and no product ID available.
Please can someone help me with this issue.
Thank you,
Michael

Recovery disks claim windows not genuine
I have a toshiba satelite L505d-S5965
We recently had a virus i could not get rid of. All imp. data is backed up, so i decided to use the recovery disks from toshiba to start "out of the box" again
Once loaded, the system shows my windows is not genuine and asks for a product key. or for me to buy one.
I could not get in to set up to be on line even if i wanted to buy something I already paid for
When I enter my product key, which i have read some posts that say it won't ask, it claims the key i entered is not right. (it is) and goes to adm sigh in screen
it keeps going in a loop of configuring the system and then asking for product keys. if i say i will enter later it goes to adm. screen and starts the loop of the same thing over
i have reinstalled the disk 3 times with the same results
What is the next step??
ThanksSatellite L505D-S5965

That's a bug, of course. Your Windows is pre-activated. This should fix it.
You may be prompted to activate Windows Vista on a computer on which Windows Vista was already activ...

My brand new VM on a ESXi 5.5 server won't mount the CD/DVD drive that has a .ISO mounted on it from a datastore. Everything looksjust like it supposed to look. Details:There is no DVD drive on the server. The VMWare Integration Plug-in isn't doing it's job no more than giving me a console--it doesn't allow me to access the drives/network volumes on the PC I'm running the vSphere client on. The VM has the option to install it along side the "mount local CD/DVD drive" and "Mount an ISO from a datastore." The only option that I can get the farthest down the road on is "Mount an ISO from a datastore", but again, the drive never seems to be active.I can't get the drive to become available. I have a tried two KNOWN good .ISO files for Windows Server 2012R2 and I have the drive connecting when the VM powers up and it SAYS it's connected to...
Just today, I have 3 Spiceworks Community Notifications that will not go away. 1 Inbox message, which I read, and 2 spiced up notifications.
Normally, just clicking the notification button and displaying the drop down will get rid of them without issues.Today, that's not the case. Closing the browser, clearing cache, running CCleaner to clear out a chunk of the system and all browsers doesn't help.My main browser is Firefox. It is current at v39.0. I do have Adblock Plus and Ghostery installed, but Spiceworks Community is whitelisted. I have Flashblock installed, but disabled on Spiceworks Community.I also checked IE (bleh, I don't like it and never use it, but it's good for troubleshooting purposes), and same thing is happening there.I also checked it by remoting into another computer at a different location and going to Community with... -
New hard drive installed, now windows not genuine?
1st posting, here goes.
I have had my Laptop for some time, and I love it!
I purchased the laptop with Win7 Ultimate pre installed.
Hard drive failed under warranty on 26 April 2013
New hard drive replaced by HP under warranty.
Hard drive failed again in this week.
New hard drive replaced by computer shop.
All working, but now I get the popup from MS saying my copy of MS is illegal.
Have spoken to India a few times and they refer me back to HP to get a product key or code.
What do I do?
Any help will be appreciated.JS.
What OS do you have installed now???
What COA do you have on the bottom of the laptop???

ordered and received system recover DVD. Backed up hard drive. Now getting message, "windows has detected a hard disk problem." System recover will not start, just receive the hard disk problem message. and continue to receive the windows not genuine message. Computer very slow to boot but seems to be working properly? Is hard drive defective? Why won'tsystem recovery work?
A slow booting operating system tells me that the hard drive may be starting to fail. I would run a hard drive diagnostic using the built in self test. Here is a link on how to run the self test on the drive: http://goo.gl/pVHxW
If it fails your going to need to get a replacement drive. If it passes I would guess that something is corrupt, but post back with more details after the test and we will go from there.
Thanks,
Sean

After HP replaced the motherboard, and few days later I got a black desktop and windows not genuine afterwards. Any suggestion what I should do. I tried to use Microsoft support website on the server, and it will not let me proceed to any of their site.
The browser display security certification invalid. Any help would be appreciated.
Kind RegardsHave you tried re-activating your copy of Windows? Eg, either using the prompt that appears or going into My Computer properties and checking the activation status at the bottom of the page?
From memory, when you activate a copy of Windows it makes a note of the currently installed hardware (spec, serial numbers etc) so you can't just copy all the files onto another machine and use it there. My guess is that the setup has changed enough for
it to no longer recognise it as the same machine (though I thought it normally takes a few elements changing to trigger that reaction), and so thinks it's no longer genuine. Getting Windows to activate again may work, otherwise you'll probably need to phone
Microsoft to get them to sort it out and allow it to activate again. -

Windows 7 Product Key Blocked - Not Genuine notice
My T420 is 3 years old and suddenly yesterday I got the notices and black screen saying "This copy of Windows is not genuine." And nag screens about it roughly every half hour (and annoyingly at boot-up).
I tried several fixes online, including re-entering the Product Key. When I do that I get error code 0XC004F063. There's no place to contact Microsoft for a replacement key, it says to contact Lenovo.
I talked to Lenovo support this morning and was told I may need to reinstall Windows and they were mailing me Restore discs. He checked and said with that error code I needed to call Microsoft.
I called MS and they checked the Product Key...it's blocked. I gave him my Product ID and that's blocked too. He said get back to Lenovo.
Lenovo knows nothing about this. Or what to do about it. The woman told me she had someone call this morning with something similar, though it was with Windows 8. She checked and several other support people had had similar calls this morning. She also said I'd probably have to reinstall Windows. I asked if she'd ever had this before and she said no. I asked if she knew of others having these calls before and she said not that she knew of. I asked if it seemed suspicious that suddenly a few people were having this problem. Sounds like Lenovo blocked a series of Product Keys. She hedged about whether it was truly escalated and said the Floor Manager was aware of it and they'd look into it. When I asked if they'd contact me if they found out anything, she said it doesn't work that way. They're mailing me the Restore discs and I'm to call back Friday to see if anyone knows anything.
In the meantime, here's my MS Genuine log. It looks okay to my untrained eye....anyone have any insights or know of other instances of this, especially in the past 24 hours?

Solved!
Go to Solution.Mark this as SOLVED. I got it sorted out. No one (including me) realized that the Product Key Belarc gives is a generic Lenovo one and that the lack of a sticker is because it's under the battery. I didn't realize this...and neither did Two Lenovo support people!

Windows 7 - Build 7601 this copy of Windows is not genuine
Hello everyone.
Im a newbie here so i hope i get this right.
I have a question about this message on my desktop reading "Windows 7 Build 7601 this copy of Windows is not genuine." ????
I bought this Satellite c660 at Qatif, Saudi Arabia and now it is here in the Philippines.
My laptop is Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. It is asking for a product key and i cannot find one. There is no product key sticker in the bottom and i dont know where to get that.
I've run a diagnostic and i hope this helps.

PLEASE anyone help? I am not a techie person and i dont know how to fix this problem. Thank you and regards. Now, this is pretty complicated for me to understand but one thing is just clear, this is counterfeit. I have asked help from other Windows7 forums and all they tell me is to report this to Microsoft.
MANY people have counterfeit installs - very few of them actually know it! And im one of them.
A large proprtion of counterfeiting is done b vendors who can make a quick buck by buying/building OS-free machines, and installing 'Ultimate' to unsuspecting purchasers.
Another thing is that I cannot see any COA sticker anywhere my unit.
I used a keyfinder softwareto find my product key but it's not valid for activation since the key used in here is a Default Key. is is getting worst.
I am not very good with this technology stuff and im getting really frustrated.
Is it possible that if i upgrade my system to Windows 8, and use a legal purchase, will i be able to get rid of this "Windows 7 Build 7601 this copy of Windows is not genuine." thing???????
Please help. Thank you. -
I've bought Lenovo B520 computer with preinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium. Windows was activated and Product Id was
indicated. After several weeks I'm receiving messages that Windows "is not genuine" and I am a victim of fraud.
I did:
1. Cleaned Register with two different programs.
2. Uninstalled Antivirus.
3. Uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Activation Update KB971033.
4. Run Microsoft Validation tool. Diagnostic report says that Windows is genuine. But Product Key in the report (part of it is
shown) different that one in COA.
5. Reactivation impossible, error code 0x80070424.
6. Tried repair by Microsoft troubleshooting but they say it's Lenovo responsibility because Windows was preinstalled - OEM.
Product Key from COA: *****************
Product Id: 00359-OEM-8992687-00249.
Is somebody knows the solution?
Moderator note: COA key removedYou may need to activate it via telephone, rather than rely on the on-line activation.
