Validity Area translation

SAP EHS experts:
I would like to translate Validity Areas, such as USA, Australia, and Europe, to 33 lanugages. However, I only see 20 available in the Validity Area translation screen. However, the table TCG92, stores Validity Area translations, has more than 20 languages. Does anyone know how to add more language into Validity Area translation screen?
Thanks
Tina Wu

Hello all
could you please check other customizing activities? Most of EH&S customizing activities are set up in such a way that you can translate texts in more than one language. The x languages you see should show up systematically in any EH&S customizing activity (e.g. check "rating).
to set up new languages in SAP system you need to do a number of topics. I am not sure if the use of transaction SMLT is sufficient but this is the right area to look at.
I believe this is the process (I am not an expert here): first if you have an Unix system you must prepare locales and languages in Unix, then if you use e.g. oracle as the database you must install there the necessary files and then may be you need to use transaction  SMLT. Furtheremore only after restart of database etc. I belive that the new languages are really available to be used.
I am not sure of the native EH&S language support is really related to the translation of customizing elements. My suggestion would be "no correlation". You could test this using different customizing elements (from MM etc.) which support language dependent descriptions (may be a material type). My suggestion would be that you can use the same x languages here too (e.g. use material type FERT and check if you can set up a description of FERT (finished products)  in language JA etc. in a transport).
One "warning" in any case. To my knowledge there is a relation betwen sap log on language and EH&S. Example: You can install JA as log on langauge but! in the SAP standard in EH&S not all transations are available in JA ( i believe translations of EH&S elements in 11 languages are shipped). Hopefully you should get the english text (example: texts in property tree; property texts etc. like "density").
Hope you will suceed in preparing more translations

  • What are translation ratios?

    Hi,
What are translation ratios and how does it differ from the exchange rates maintained. I understand that exchange rates can be maintained for every two currencies, then why is translation ratios required in SAP? In what scenarios does translation ratios come to use.... My faint understanding is that it is maintained for non-dominant currencies wherein the exchange rates is erratic and hence cannot be maintained. So it can be derived using translation ratios........
    Please throw light on this.
    Regards
    SATYA

    Hi,
Please, read the explanation from SAP (the relevant transaction is OBBS):
In this activity, you enter the translation ratios for currency translation. You enter these ratios for each exchange rate type and currency pair. You also specify whether you want to use an alternative exchange rate type for specific currency pairs.
    Example
As of 01/01/1999 the exchange rate for DEM to FRF will be calculated via EUR. To translate amounts enter:
01/01/1999 in the Valid from field:
The exchange rate type under which the exchange rates of the European national currencies are stored in the Alt. ERT field:

  • Restrictions/ Usage/ Validity Area/ Validity Area Category for DG

    Hi Experts,
    Following situation:
At the moment we have the dangerous goods management in EH&S active.
So we use the substance to build our "UN-Numbers" and we use the Classification "CL***" to build the dangerous goods classification.
For each legal UN-Number we create one Substance with value assignment instance for each regulation. For example for UN1993 we create the substance UN1993 and in the property tree we assign for each regulation one value assignment instance.
Means 3 instances one for ADR, IATA_C and IMDG. For each of these instances we use the standard usage (Validity Area) "DANGEROUSG:REG_WORLD"
Now we create one Classification for the Substance UN1993, for example CL1993. So we do it so, that CL1993 inherits from UN1993. In this classification in the Transport Class. Tab we assign to each DG Regulation the UN1993 and release them.
So, now we assign a material which is related to this UN-Number to the classification and do the filling (DGE5).
    Problem:
Everything is ok, the Dangerous Goods Master is created for 3 Regulations.
But the filling log (DGP7) shows error msg DGA422 "Specification CL1993 value assignment SAP_EHS_1022_024 not saved (same priorities)"
    But everything is ok.
    Question:
If I now change the usage of the Substance UN1993 instances for ADR to "DANGEROUSG: DGADR", for IATA_C to DANGEROUSG: DGIATA_C, for IMDG to DANGEROUSG: DGIMDG the filling will be ok.
But now my questions is. Where I have to use which Usages? because, also in the header of the Substance and classification there must be a Restriction (Validity Area).
We have only the SAP standard values in the EH&S:
VAreaCat  | Val. Area   | Description
REGION | ADNR     | ADNR states
REGION     | ADR       | ADR states
    REGION     | DE     | Germany
DGREGION     | DGADNR     |   ADNR regulation - inland waterway
DGREGION     | DGADR     | ADR regulation - road
DGREGION     | DGCFR     | CFR regulation - all modes of trans. USA
DGREGION     | DGGGVE |       GGVE regulation - rail
DGREGION     | DGGGVS     |   GGVS regulation - road
    DGREGION     | DGIATA_C     | IATA_C regulation - plane / cargo
    DGREGION     | DGIATA_P     | IATA regulation - plane / passenger
DGREGION     | DGIMDG     | IMDG regulation - sea
DGREGION     | DGRID     | RID regulation - rail
    REGION     | ES     |   Spain
    REGION     | FR     |   France
REGION     | GB      |  Great Britain
    REGION     | REG_EU      |  European Union
    REGION     | REG_WORLD      |  World
REGION     | RID      |  RID states
    REGION     | TEXAS     | Texas
    REGION     | US |      USA
So what is the right way to use the restriction/ usage ?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello
I did not catch perfect your question. There is a "restriction tab" on "specification header". This restriction tab has a special purpose. It is not related / linked to the DG master filling (to my knowledge) and it is used "rarely".
Regarding the "restriction tab" refer to this help:
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/a7/286c740a6c11d28a220000e829fbbd/frameset.htm => Specification Management => Specificaiton Editing => Restrictions
Now coming back to your topic: based on the DG customizing you can specifcy which "usage" is that which is used to retrieve the data during filling (you need to define regulatory lists etc.).
This topic is a little bit complex in my opinion. Based on your set up you need to maintain the UN substances "different" so that the filling does work.
May be take a look here:
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/en/de/5174db4c4b11d18a110000e816ae6e/frameset.htm
In one of the customizing acitiviies there is a "flag" with which you specify the priority regarding rating. Normalyl the "prioritty "is selected you have done "first DANGEROUSG and than STANDARD.
I believe in a different customizing acitvity the link between regulatory list (IMDG) an validity area (DGIMDG) is done. Based on this set up the filling is done.
So my proposal is to do a recheck of DG customizing.
    With best regards
    C.B.
PS: On the top you have this validity area type (DGREGION) which you need take care

  • Error message - "Overlapping validity areas were found for country BR"

    Hi Experts,
For a certain output type Y953 (e.g. for the shipment 2002355665 related to the DN 3087912658), an error message "Overlapping validity areas were found for country BR" is coming in as error.
The error message is appearing during the idoc processing of the shipment.
This is an incident of Dangerous Goods.
I would like to know if it is technically / functionally possible to find out as to why exactly this mesage is coming and how can we rectify the problem.
From technical point of view we checked that this message was not being called in the SAP system but was dynamically called.
kindly let me know of any breakthrough as this issue is critical as dangerous goods are being transported without needed documents printed.
    Thanks in advance.

  • GLM: use scenario as validity area in label data view

    Hi experts,
In the view label data of the material master I managed data for the labeling determination of GLM.
I understood that is possible to use scenario as validity area in this view in order to narrow the results of the label determination by scenario and packaging unit.
Could you detail me please how to proceed (custo + data + ...) to use this features?
    Thanks and Regards,
    /Ludo

    Hello MIke,
Thank you for your reply. I followed your instructions then I maintened my scenario as validity area in label data  but the system doesn't found label in GLM.
In activity "Specifiy Validity Area Categories", do I need to specify a table, a field and a validity area check function?
    Here the log of GLM:
-Label category ZLB_REG2 filtered using validity area SCENARIO ("strange because I put "GENERIC" in label data as validity area)
-No gen. variant found for mat. 000000000000090026, packag. unit DR, and label cat. ZLB_REG2
If I delete the validity area "GENERIC" in label data, system found label.

  • Template - issue with validity area - check on multiple usages at once

    Hi all
One customer requirement Iu2019m trying to solve, and I donu2019t find a solution, is the following:
<b>When we have two or more validity areas in the generation variant, we want to check on both at the same time in order to get the data on the SDS.</b>
<b>Is this possible or not and, in case it is possible, can someone explain me how to do this?</b>
    Thanks in advance.
    Two examples.
In the generation variant we have validity areas:
    A.     REGION                SE
                         USE_CAT             IND
    B.     REGION                NO
                         USE_CAT             IND
    C.     REGION                NO
                         USE_CAT             FER
In the specification data of one VAT we have several instances. The usages added to these instances are:
    1.     REGION                SE
                         USE_CAT             IND
    2.     REGION                SE
                          USE_CAT             FER
    3.     REGION                NO
                         USE_CAT             IND
When I use generation variant A, I only want to see instance 1 on the SDS.
When I use generation variant B, I only want to see instance 3 on the SDS.
When I use generation variant C, I donu2019t want to see any instances on the SDS.
I donu2019t find how to solve this.
When I donu2019t use a repeating group type G for validity area, using generation variant A, I get instances 1 and 2. Using generation variant B or C I get instance 3 on the SDS.
When I use a repeating group type G for validity area USE_CAT, using generation variant A or B, I get instances 1 and 3. Using generation variant C I get instance 2 on the SDS.
Similar with the exclude check put.
In the generation variant we have validity areas:
    D.     REGION                SE
                         USE_CAT             IND
    E.     REGION                NO
                           USE_CAT             FER
In the specification data of one VAT we have several instances. The usages added to these instances are:
    4.     REGION                SE
                         USE_CAT             IND        excl
    5.     REGION                REG_EU
                          REGION                SE           excl
                          USE_CAT             FER
    6.     REGION                NO
                          USE_CAT             IND
When I use generation variant D, I donu2019t want to see an instance on the SDS.
When I use generation variant E, I donu2019t want to see an instance on the SDS
I donu2019t find how to solve this.
When I donu2019t use a repeating group G for validity area USE_CAT, using generation variant D, I get instance 4 on the SDS. Using generation variant E I gent instance 6 on the SDS.
When I use a repeating group G for validity area USE_CAT, using generation variant D, I get instance 6 on the SDS. Using generation variant E, I get instance 5 on the SDS.
    Kind regards,
    Luk

    Hello Luk
You wrote: When I understand the documentation of the validity area's correct, options subset, superset, 1:1, ... always reflect to the relation of the entry in the generation variant and the usage that is maintained one on the data.
This is exactly how the link is done between data in EH&S and the data which show up in WWI document (please exclude the topic of G group at the moment; this is special). Therefore the validity area entered in GenVar is the "Leading" validity area.
Regarding you questions some "basic" work is needed. May be this help you to find new options to solve your issue:
SAP EH&S uses the "validity area type" and the "validity area". Common used are the validity types:
    REGION
    DGREGION
    PLANT
It seems that you have created a new validity area type USE_CAT with validity areas wich you have defined by your own.
I will give you only an overview about the "normal" use of REGION. In this case the validity area is normally a 1:1 relation to a country (defintion is done via customizing). A "special" validity area is REG_WORLD (please refer to SAP docu). REG_WOLRD contains automatically (without further doing) all other validity areas of type REGION. Now it is always possible to generate new "fictive" validity areas. E.g. you Could define the validity area "NAFTA" which would have a link to the countries: US, MX etc. These validiyta areas can be used in data maintenance and in the GenVar as well.
As I have no knowlede how you have defined the USE_CAT"  validity areas I can not provide you hints. But I would like to provide further hints in using the "Excl." Flag of usage of the VAT
Example: if you use Rating 1 in combination with REG_WORLD, DE excluded and the GenVar has the leading validity area DE this value is not used in WWI report. But if the genVar would have the leading validity area BE it would be used.
Please check really carefully the topic of "subset, superset, 1:1,.." because this is the "key" issue if or if not a VAT will show up in WWI.
Now back to your next question:
when on the data a validity area is excluded and the same validity area is present in the generation variant, data should not be displayed even when there is a positive match prasent as well. (e.g. positive match on region, negative match on use category).
Now as explained above: if in VAT level a validity area is excluded but the same validity area is used as leading Validity area in WWI report the value will not show up. The same should be true if you have used "G groups" with discrete validity areas
    Next question:
when you defined the data as relevant for region EU and use category industrial, data should only be displayed when the generation variant contains both a region related to EU AND this industrial use.
Here I would need more information. The GenVar contains by default only one leading validity area. Therefore any further "logic" must be applied by using "G Group" in the template and now things get "worse" in some sense.
If I remember correct the following should be true:
If you have used properly the G Group with "Use_CAT" in your WWI document this should work:
You have defined the VAT as : Rating + DE + IND. Now in a special section of your WWI report you have used the G Group. By using this the value should be printed but not a parallel VAT value with Rating + DE + FER.
If you have used this logic in your whole template I really salute because the WWI template is in my opinion very complex to understand and the logic how to retrieve the data from EH&S into the WWI report is complex too and the length of the report should have increased by at least 20 % or something like that
Now you have mentioned a further option you are using:
"Currently we solve this by creating multiple characteristics (use category specific) and selecting only on validity area region based on the generation variant."
If I underdstood your explanation correct you have done the following:
If necessary you have entered a further characteristic in the Class called "use CAT" which must have values. Then using the "if else etc." logic of WWI you select only those VATs into the WWI report which does have the correct "Use Cat".
Once again:hard work which you have done. In my opinion you should go on with this approach. In doing so you have implemented an "and" logic. Only if the Value does have DE and the UseCat (in characteristic) Is e.g. FER the value will be printed.
It is complex yes but the "G Group" is much complexer
Natural solution of demands like this is using further ratings to select the data properly. It seems to be you have excluded this option.
    With best regards
    C.B.

  • Where default validations are being done in ATG?

    Hi All,
I want to know where default validations are being carried out for login name and password and user existing already conditions (in which class). How the error message is being created and populated?
For example, when i try to register with a email (lolgin value) that is already existing, then i'm getting the following error message -
"A user already exists with the login [email protected]". I want to know how this error message is created.
Also, another example-  You must supply a value for the 'login' field of this form.     login.
Here, i'm getting the propertyName also with the error message. If i want to generate the same type exception message, how to create?
And where those error messages are being added to formExceptions list

Please refer to the below link for the handling of the form exceptions in ATG.
Oracle ATG Web Commerce - Form Error Handling
The error messages are added as FormExceptions to the formExceptions Vector in the form handler. The actual text of the error message can be given in the form handler directly or can be given in a resource bundle file and can be referenced from the form handler.
    Hope this helps.

  • WWI Template - validity area question inside of a composition slave group

I am reading composition with exposure limits (SAP_EHS_1012_006) of the real sub then drilling into the list sub Occupation Exposure Limits (SAP_EHS_1023_006).
I want to show a table of the list subs, and then show the Usage Validity Area "US" only regulations for that list sub.
But when I try to put a "G" type repeat group around the list sub for validity area "US" it doesn;t work.
I saw a S:VERW type slave group but I am unable to tell if that is what is needed, because I can't find any samples.
My data is setup that the Usage Validity area records are:
    1 - CA
    2 - US
    3 - MX
Here are some of the things I have tried:
    <11BRG002(M,SAP_EHS_1023_006;)> <15BIF061(OR:01GESTDRVLID (P;) LK "US"029><15EIF061><11ERG002>
even though I try to test the P;*, the condition does not test all phrases.
As I said above I have tried to wrap with a type G repeating group and this didn't work either.
    Thanks

The problem was that I needed to wrap a G type repeating group for US, around the the specification repeating group. And I needed to modify the Gen Variant rating/validity to include a line item for region US.

  • Text elemnets are translated AUTOMATICALLY, right?

    Hi,
I hv a Z function module, this will be called in the process of printing of a smartform.
We r in the upgrade process.
We hv clinet with name client_US, where in making changes are allowed and there by transport creation.
We hv another client with name client_China, where in making changes are NOT allowed and there by NO transport creation.
This Z function module hv some text elemt, say DEBIT MEMO, like below,
All r in ECC 6.00 Unicode enabled
    Cliet-----Log-in languageValue--
    expectation
    client_US--EnglishDebit Memo--Good
    client_US--Chinese%$%^#--
    bad
I re-activated the text elemnts and Z FM.
So, why am getting junk value?
the text elemnts shuld AUTOMATICALLY translated, right?
Shuld I maintain it in chinese my self explicitly in clinet_US by logging in chinese and there by creating a transport?
    Any alternatives to fix this?
    Thank you

you need to handle translation manualy..

  • Publishing MA to ERP: What validations are included with Use ERP Validation

If I select the "Use ERP Validation" checkbox in my integrated document type for Master Agreements, what is the list of validations that will be enforced?  I would like to know this so that I know what additional custom validations I should add that are not included with the standard selected.  The SAP Integration Guide does not give this level of detail.  Thanks.

    Hi,
    Here are some hints:
    @Header:
Some of the validations done here are related to filelds in the integration tab like transaction type, purchasing org, purchasing group, . The fields mandatory check &  replicated flag check on this objects are checked..
in addition at the Contract document level other integrated objects like vendor, payment terms are also checked for replication flags.. The purchase org selected in integration tab should match one of vendor's purchase org.
    @Item:
There is an array of validations again.. here the focus is the master data used in line items are checked for consistency:
    1. If Plant is replicated, check that it is assigned to a company code. 2. All item plants must belong to the same Company Code and this must match the Company Code on the header. If Plant is not set, it is treated as valid. 3. If both Plant and P-org are ECC replicated, check that there exists a relationship.
Guess best way to go forward is to do some tests for your particular scenario and see if it is covered in standard. if not you can implement a custom validation in the prepublish script
    Thanks, baski

  • Validation area code ?

    Hi,
I need to validate a textfield for proper german area code.
First, I thougt the HTMLDB Regular Expression List include this, but it's not possible.
How I can validate area code by another way ?
A "not null item validation" is not the best solution.
    thanks in advance
    Holger

Thats one way - what does a typical german area code look like?
If you have just one field called Phone Number on your form, and the German phone number looks like
    13445.223.2335 (just a guess I have no idea!)You can do 3 things -
    1) Make sure its not null
    2) Make sure the entire phone-number is long enough, or if you separated the area code from the rest, make sure the area code is long enough
    3) Make sure its numerical
Here is a quick example using a PL/SQL returning a boolean
    declare
      v_num number;
    begin
      if :P1_PHONE_NUMBER is null then
        return(false);
      elsif length(:P1_PHONE_NUMBER) < 15 then
        return(false);
      end if;
--Check if its numerical by doing to_number - if it doesnt error out, its ok
      v_num := to_number(:P1_PHONE_NUMBER);
      return(true);
    exception
      when others then
        return(false);
    end;Just an idea...

  • How valid are the signatures on documents created in PDF

I was wondering if they can be used the same as a signature on a document. Would they be just as legal?
Also does this site look differnt to anyone else from version 10 to 12???
[ link removed - spam is not tolerated ]

The lgal admissibility of digital signatures varies by country and by what you're signing, but in general a commercially-issued ID is seen as being as "forge-proof" as an ink signature. Self-signed IDs created in Acrobat or Reader are legally worthless.

  • [10g] entity validation are triggered twice and more?

    hello,
i have a problem with validation method in an entity.
    in the ordre:
1- i have created a methode validation "validationA" on the attribute "A"
in my jspx, i change his value from 1 to 2
3a- if my method (data = 1) return true, no problem.
3b- if my method (data = 1) return false, she is call another time with the old value (data = 2)
in my application where i have more than one view linked with this entity, my validationA method is triggered a lot.
what can do to just check validation once? thanks

Clicking the back button, doesn't clear the second entity and therefore it will still fail the validation.
The user shouldn't click the back button, instead you should supply a "Cancel" button in the second page that will then clear the information that was entered in that screen and will navigate to the first form.
