Re:Valuation control at Storage location
Dear Guru's,
I have below requirement :
I want to control the Valuation of a material in Storage location or at material level. i.e that particular Raw material will be non-valuated or all the materials in 1 particular storage location are non-valuated materials
I know that can be control at Plant/company code level ( Plant as valuated or not valuated )
Also is it possible to mantain same raw material code as Valuated in 1 plant & non-valuated in other company code/Plant ?
Kindly guide
Regards,
IshwarHi Ishwar,
If you had mentinoed your business requirement then it would be easier for us to resolve your issue. However it wont be possible to have valuation control at Storage location.
but you can have some alternative solution.
1. Create New Material Type (say ZXX) which should have only Qty update Ticked ( Do not ticket Value update Checkbox).
2. Create Material Code of Newly Created Material Type (ZXX) . These newly created Part code will not be valuated.
Also is it possible to mantain same raw material code as Valuated in 1 plant & non-valuated in other company code/Plant ?
It is very much possible to have Same part code to be valuated in 1 plant and non-valuated in Other Plant, Provided your valuation occurs at Plant level and not the company code level.

Price control in material master.
Dear all,
How can i change the Price control key(V to S) in material master.
and what are the implication after change the price control.
Please suggest.
Regards,
Vishal GargHello
In the SAP System, there are two types of price control:
Standard price & Moving average price.
These two types of price control differ in how they handle price variances resulting from goods receipts or invoice receipts.
Changing the Type of Price Control
Under certain conditions, you can change the type of price control:
From standard price to moving average price
You can make this change at any time. The moving average price (which until now has been updated for informational purposes only) replaces the standard price and is used for valuation from now on.
From moving average price to standard price
You cannot make this change in the following two cases:
If the material master record is set up as a valuation header record for a material subject to split valuation
If the standard price comes from costing and is not equal to the moving average price
If the change is possible, the moving average price becomes the standard price, which is then used for valuation.
You change the type of price control by overwriting the price control indicator in the material master record with the new indicator.
Changing the type of price control for a material does not change the value of the material stock, since in both cases the current price becomes the new price.
An example is given below:
Standard price to Moving average price
Material A
Price control: S
Moving average Price: 8
Standard Price: 10
Total Stock: 100
Total Stock value: 1000
Now we change the material price control to 'V'. Then
Material A
Price control: M
Moving average price:10
Standard price: 10
Total Stock: 100
Total Stock value: 1000
Moving average to standard price
Material B
Price control: V
Moving average Price: 8
Standard Price: 0
Total Stock: 100
Total Stock value: 800
Now we change the material price control to 'S'. Then
Material B
Price control: S
Moving average price:8
Standard price: 8
Total Stock: 100
Total Stock value: 800
Hope this will clear your doubts. -
Hi All,
I am new to SAP MM,
What is the main difference between standard price and moving average price, And While I am creating the Material (Material Type is Drinks) it will take Moving Average Price(V) Only, We cant able to change this, Why?
Thanks in advance,
Sudheer.HI,
Use
In the SAP System, there are two types of price control:
Standard price
Moving average price
These two types of price control differ in how they handle price variances resulting from goods receipts or invoice receipts.
Integration
You determine the price control that should be used for a material when you create the material and enter the accounting data for it. You enter one of the following indicators in the Price control field to determine how the price is controlled:
S for standard price control
V for moving average price control
Standard Price
All inventory postings are carried out at the standard price
Variances are posted to price difference accounts
Variances are updated
Price changes can be monitored
If a material is assigned a standard price (S), the value of the material is always calculated at this price. If goods movements or invoice receipts contain a price that differs from the standard price, the differences are posted to a price difference account. The variance is not taken into account in valuation.
Moving Average Price
Goods receipts are posted at the goods receipt value.
The price in the material master is adjusted to the delivered price.
Price differences occur only in exceptional circumstances.
Manual price changes are usually unnecessary. However, they are possible.
If a material is assigned a moving average price (MAP), the price is automatically adjusted in the material master record when price variances occur. If goods movements or invoice receipts are posted using a price that differs from the moving average price, the differences are posted to the stock account; as a result, the moving average price and the value of the stock change.
If drinks is your material type then what habe you defined price control in OMS2? from which material type did you copy to create drinks as your material type?
Thanks & Regards,
Kiran -

How to diff two clob? I need to highlight the difference between two clob, something like revision control diff feature. Can this be done in pl/sql or sql?
A CLOB is a large object of characters.
What sort of diff do you want to do?
A typical command line "diff" will compare a text file "line by line", but a CLOB doesn't have lines per se.
You'll probably have to write some sort of parsing loop procedure to extract whatever parts you need to compare e.g. look for line feed characters and extract parts of the clob that way to make a "line" and then compare that to the same from the other CLOB.
The tricky part comes with the diff feature of being able to look ahead (or effectively backwards) to detect inserted and deleted lines etc.
Maybe someone out there has already written something similar with PL/SQL? -
Material Valuation for Finished Product in Production Scenario
Dear SAP Gurus,
Kindly recommend appropriate Material Valuation Control for Finished Product in manufacturing scenario. SAP recommends pricing control 'S' (Standard), but my client's buying nature is not periodic(varies), they buy material on requirement basis (On actual material consumption ) which is very frequent. Pricing for each buy also changes due to the market conditions. You are requested to suggest me appropriate Material Valuation Control (either S / V) for Finished Product along with reasons, advantages & disadvantages for the same.
Thanks,
ShantanuHi Alll
Well one disavantage in material with 2/V for production consumption is in case of incorrect goods receipt, incorrect price for example, all your consumption will be wrong.
For correction you would have to reverse all production posting, correct the goods receipt and repost the production confirmation.
If you were using 3/S configuration, all consumption would be done in standard price and at month end material ledger would calculate the actual price for price revaluation. People from MM would have time to correct the entries during the month.

We are using workshop as our development tool for a new project. Are there any guidelines concerning when to use a Database Control vs an EJB for database updates? How do Database Controls differ from entity EJB's in terms of transaction management?
Henrik--
In general, the Workshop Database Control executes the SQL that you
see in each method's annotations. So, you can do a batch update in the
context of a single transaction if you wrap a database control in a
custom control which calls database control methods many times.
Relative to your JPF, this would look like a batch update.
If you pass RowSet objects to Database Control methods, the RowSet
will generate update / insert / delete SQL statements to push changes
made in the RowSet into the database.
Hope that helps...

Valuation area not define in STO
Hi experts,
When we create STO, It said valuation area not defined.
I checked the spro, the plant has assigned to company code, and in valuation assignment , I have assigned the business area.
but in T001K, it really doesn;'t have valuation content.
So where I shoud assign the valuation area? I just use same valuation area for plant A and pant B.
Hope to get your help.
Thanks
ALiceHi Alice,
You never define the valuation area,
You Define "Valuation Control", Valuation area cld be at the Plant Level or may be at the company code Level.
Generally it is kept at the Plant level only.
Path for this is:-
IMG>Materials Management>Valuation and Account Assignment>Account Determination>Account Determination Without Wizard-->Define Valuation Control.
then you group together the valuation areas (Plant) in a Valuation Grouping Code, Same Path with-->Group Together Valuation Areas
and after this you do all the configurations based on the valuation grouping code.
Valuation grouping code is actually a logical entry.
this you do to avoid the repetitive job of doing valuation for each plant if you have more no. of plants.
In your case may be no valuation grouping code is assigned to your plant.
Please check
Hope it helps.
