Valuation string in movement types - Inventory Management

Hi,
what is meant by Valuation String. and i've seen the valuation string assigned to movement types.
for ex: WE01 and WE06 is assigned to Mvt Type 101 in account grouping.
pls list all the valuation string and explain the purpose of valuation string.
Regards,
Bala

Hi
Posting string for values
Indicates the posting rule that always contains the same account assignment characteristics for a certain transaction or event (for example a goods movement or an invoice receipt).
The posting string is needed for the purposes of automatic account determination.
Use
Through the allocation of a posting string to a movement type, the system automatically determines the G/L accounts to be updated in the event of a goods movement.
Definition: posting string
The definition of a posting rule that always has the same account assignment characteristics for a certain business transaction.
The posting string is required for automatic account determination.
These value string WE01,WE06 plays an important role in
Automatic Accoutn determnination. You have maintain in
SM30.
you have maintain in SM 30
Table T156W -Value string
T156M for Quantity string.
Whenever Goods movement (or) invenotry posting takes places we are not giving the G/L account ,The G/L accounts are taken automatically.
In real time we are not modfiying anything. it is Std SAP
If you are copying a New Movement type then you have to define the WE01 & WE06 Value String & Qty string.
you choose a value string and qty string.
The value strings controls the G/L account determination for transactions covered by the movement type

  • Valuation class and movement type

    Hi sirs,
What exactly mean by valuation class and is there any sublink to valuation class and movement type.
    BSR

    Hi BSR,
Regarding the meaning of valuation class and link between valuation class and movement type, you just have to understand this.
    <b>valuation class + movement type = transaction key --> GL account</b>
    explanation :
    <b>Valuation class</b>
It is a field maintained in the accounting view 1 of Material master. This is nothing but the classification of material like Raw material, Finished goods, WP, stores & spares etc. It is indicated as numerical number.
    <b>Movement type</b>
This is a 3 digit numerical code which is used for all material movement in MM module. Say for example movement type 101 is used for Goods receipt from vendor or from production.
    <b>Transaction Key</b>
The combination of valuation class and the movement type translates into a transaction key which indicates the type of transaction.
    remember:
The combination of Valuation Class + the Movement Type helps in determining the GL accounts automatic updates.
hope it helps and don't forget to assign points.
    regards,
    Lily

  • Different material- same valuation class-same movement type - but should hi

    dear all,
Different material- same valuation class-same movement type - but should hit different gl account.
the requirement is the materials are different but having same valuation class. Now during issue certain gl account are hitting because of val grp code, account modifier and account determination in mov type. Now my question is can i use same movement type and hit different gl account for materials having same val class???
    It is possible??

    Hi,
In OBYC, we maintain G/L account for the transaction key (for ex: GBB) for the combination of Val. grouping code, Valuation class & account modifier (ex: VBR - determined via mov.type).
As per your requirement, Materials have the same valuation class and you are using the same mov.type for Goods Issue, so only option is to use different val.grouping code (which is assigned to a valuation area).
So in short, you can trigger different G/L for the different materials with same val class, mov.type only if the Plant - valuation area is different.
If the Plant is same then system will always determine the same G/L even though materials are different.
    Hope it is clear.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Movement types--warehouse management

WM movement type 561 not allowed for warehouse number ......this is the error  i am getting while trying to create material stock.....what is the solution for this error plsss assist
    thanking you
    Maddy

    Hi Maddy,
When you are using a Ware house management then all the movement types to be used has to be configure.
Please configure the Movement type 561 for your warehouse in spro > logistics execution > warehouse management > activities > define movement types.
I hope this will resolve your issue.
Reward points if this information is useful

  • Error while running InfoPackage - Goods Movement from Inventory Management

    Hi,
We first encountered an error <i>No storage space available for extending table IT_ 3, Error 7 when sending an IDoc, Errors in source system</i> upon running the infopackage (inside a process chain). The step was accidentally repeated  and now the error log shows that <i>the delta request is incorrect in the monitor and that a repeat needs to be requested.</i>
What should be our corrective steps for this kind of problem? Would a selective deletion and repair suffice?
    Kindly advice. Thanks.

Yes, I think it's safe. But there is no guarantee that the process will not fail again. You'd better contact basis guys for space increasing.
Also you can try to clean the system by yourself:
    1. Delete PSA that you don't need.
    2. Delete old system logs (SLG2 tcode).
Though, it's not a fact that additional room will appear in that spaces that your PC uses.
    Best regards,
    Eugene

  • Difference between Movement types

What is the difference between Movement type & Movement type - 1 step in schedule line categories.

  • Extend Inventory Management (0IC_C03) with new field MSEG-INSMK

Dear Experts, We are using Business Content InfoCube "Material stocks/movements" (0IC_C03) in Area "Inventory Controlling/Inventory Management" in BW. We are using following Business Content DataSources: Stock Initialization for Inventory Management              2LIS_03_BX Goods Movements From Inventory Management        2LIS_03_BF Revaluations                                                            2LIS_03_UM Everything works fine with delta load till now. Now we have a new requirement so that we have to fill additionally the R/3-Field MSEG-INSMK in existing Inventory Management InfoCube (0IC_C03). The Business Content DataSource (2LIS_03_BX/BF/UM) doesn't provide R/3-Field MSEG-INSMK and I don't find any other Datasource for the R/3-Field MSEG-INSMK ("Document Segment: Material" - Stock Type). How can we extend the InfoCube 0IC_C03 with the R/3-Field MSEG-INSMK? Should I define a new Generic Datasource based on the table MSEG to extract the field INSMK. The table MSEG is very large. What would be Delta-Specific Field for Generic Delta? I would load the data from generic DataSource into a new DSO. And I can read the field MSEG-INSMK per Look-Up from the DSO in the transformation to the InfoCube 0IC_C03. Is this the solution? Many Thanks Moha

2LIS_03_BX cannot be enhanced. There is an SAP note that says enhancing this Datasource is not supported.
2LIS_03_BF can be enhanced though, and the process is just like enhancing any other LO Datasource.
So you can include the new field in the cube, enhance BF and load to the cube. With this, you will be able to report the INSMK field on the goods movements. But as INSMK is not present in BX, you will not be able to report the INSMK field on stock position reports.

  • Movement type 1-step in Schedule line category for STO

    Hello Experts,
What is the difference between single step and two step movement type in Stock Transport Order? What is its significance?
My understanding in case of stock to stock and plant to plant material movements in Inventory management:
If we use single step, once the goods are issued at the issuing plant stocks are updated immediately both at the issuing plant (reduced) and receiving plant (increased).
    In case of two steps,
Stock to stock – material will be in <u>stock in transfer</u> for receiving plant once the goods are issued at issuing plant
Plant to plant – Material will be in <u>stock in transit</u> for receiving plant once the goods are issued at issuing plant.
Is this the same concept in STO?
                          OR
What is the significance of Movement type 1-step in Scheudle line category?

  • GL accounts per Movement type

    Hello all,
I have a doubt. Can you please tell me how to get the list of GL accounts by Logistics movement types for trading goods???
    Please advice.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Umakanth.

    Hi Umakanth
G/L a/c is decided not only by Movement type, but also material master/plant/type of transaction key
In transaction OMWB ,go to the simulation mode, then in menu Simulation --> Go to Report. There, you can give the plants, valuation classes and movement types and execute the report.
you can download it to excel

  • Movement Type in Inventory Management Cube

    Hello Guys,
I am new to the area of Invenotry Management. I have seen the How to Guide and blogs by Surendra for Inventory Management scenarios.
One of initial doubt is that the cube 0IC_C03 does not have Movement Type. As per the blog, we can define transaction keys in BW but how do I pull it in my Cube. Is ehnacing the extract strcuture BF the only option? If yes, what logic do we follow to add movement type to BF?
Also as per SAP Note, we cannot enhance BX to include movement type. So would it create a problem if BX does not have a movement type and BF has?
    Looking forward to solutions
    Thanks n Regards,
    Abhishek

    Dear John
The movement type has important control functions in Inventory Management.
For example, the movement type plays an important role in
      => updating of quantity fields
=> updating of stock and consumption accounts
=> determining which fields are displayed during entry of a document in the system
    thanks

  • New Goods Movement Type for Inventory Manager

    Hi Guys,
I need to change a goods movement code used on Mobile App Inventory Manager 4.0 to a custom (Z) goods movement code, the fileds are the same so I thought changing the constant will work for this as we do a GoodReceipt with no reference to Purchase nor Production order (gmCode = 501) with a custom, copied from standard, Movement type gmCode = 950 (this is a well known practice on ERP). I have changed only the global constant on my copied IM application, for testing purpose and the local GR was created with gmCode = 950 instead of gmCode = 501, but when I was transmiting in order to create goods movement document on SAP, the application throws an error like: "PostReceiptsSteplet - Goods Movement Impossible with good movement type 950 - Server error". So I would like to know first:
If is it possible to include or change the standard gmCode for custom gmCode on mobile app Inventory Manager 4.0?
What would it be the Best Practice to do this? The steps to include a custom movement type, now I know is not only changes on global constants
I have checked the java doc for this method "PostReceiptsSteplet", and it did not say anything about the constructor .... or how is used... what has inside... what is the condition of execution.... nothing ...

If those java source code are so troublesome to request... why should I request them if I won't change the app's base functionality??. Instead of requesting those java source code, the documentation of the java doc should improve, well the documentation in general for this app should improve ... Is only a suggestion ... I'm trying very hard not to ask for those source code, because what Mark Pe  answer me on another post: If I ask for them, a disclamer must be signed because I could change a base functionality... and that's perfectly fine. But if I need to extend a class and add a few field: why do I need to ask for the code instead of checking the documentation and apply the customization needed?
Now I have some trouble extending a SAPOBJECT, because I don't quite understand the design of how you manage MaterialDocument / MaterialDocumentItem on the app. But I will post this question on another thread
