Value Mapping Question

Based on the source filename I need to determine Customer and distribution channel value using value mapping:
Source FileName:
FileName1
FileName2
Target CustomerValue:
300
300
Target Distribution Channel:
ABC
XYZ
I am unable to achieve the above using value mapping

Hi Vicky,
It is possible to do it. See below the File- Customer, File- Distribution maps with mapping and testing.
Hope it helps your requirement.

  • Value Mapping values..question

i have been through the value Mapping documentation, and we are trying to analyze a message Map where there are value maps, However we are not able to find the value maps maintained in ID when i select the tools --> value mapping and specify the context, agency and schema for the source values and agency and schema for target values...
Where is this table maintained, where can we view the values in it...?
Do we need any additional permissions to view this table.
When we test it the values dont show up in message mapping tests, however they do show up at runtime as they should..we need to edit and add some values to this table but are unable to find it...

In ID under tools --> value mapping you need to create the value mapping groups and there specify the values.
    >
    > Do we need any additional permissions to view this table.
    No.
    > When we test it the values dont show up in message mapping tests, however they do show up at runtime as they should..we need to edit and add some values to this table but are unable to find it...
You can see the value only at RunTime and not while testing in test tab in message mapping. Go to ID open your value mapping group and there you can edit or add new entrie.

  • Value Mapping Table - XI MDM Design Question

    Hi All,
    I have a scenario as :
When XI receives data from a sender system, before sending data to receiver system (in this case MDM),XI is supposed to check some fields in MDM and depending on the result XI should decide whether to send the records or not.
Now,in this case I have two options:
1.After recieving data from sender system ,from XI mapping call a webservice(webservice is supposed to go to MDM and check the fields and give the result),then depending on the result XI will decide whether to send or not.
2.After receving data from sender system, from XI mapping access a value look table in XI from a UDF and then check the result, then depending on the result XI will decide whether to send or not.
I have pointed out some glitches for every option:
1.First considering volume of XI source message( approx. 800 records per message),then MDM database records (approx 40000 or 50000).Hence once XI receives message XI will have to go to MDM for every record and every time it will search among 40000 MDM records using webservice.
This will effect performance as for every record webservice will be called and again it might face connection problems.
2.In this option XI will have to store all the 40000 records from MDM in the value lookup table.Again, how to synch up this value lookup table with MDM database?
This table has to be a copy of MDM database which changes everyday.
Is it ok to store around 40000 records in XI's value lookup table?
Considering above points can you please help me to find out optimum solution?
    Thanks,
    Shweta.

    >>Is it ok to store around 40000 records in XI's value lookup table?
its advised to use value mapping for static values, not for dynamic values, since you will have changes everyday you should not use Value mapping here.
now coming to your first approach, why not copy this table from MDM to XI(i know XI is not the owner of data, but if its an internal MDM server, you should be able to do it),once the table is copied in XI itself, you can simply use ABAP mapping to create the receiver structure.
the above approach looks good to me as long as the MDM guys don't have any problem with XI storing the data as well and you sync up the table between XI and MDM periodically
    Thanx

  • Value Mapping in PI 7.1

    Hi All,
Please tell me about value mapping.I have never worked on value mapping earlier. Please give me the steps to do value mapping.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Shweta
    Please see me answers below,
1.Can we do the value mapping in Graphical Mapping? Is there any standard function available for that?If so what is it?
Your question is not clear but I will answer both ways.
If you are talking about create Value Mapping from the Integration Directory. Answer is yes. You can create value mapping groups there.
If you are talking about using Value Mapping in the graphical tool. Answer is yes. You will only see results in runtime (up to PI 7.0). In PI 7.1 you can see results during development time, after some configurations.
2.Do we need to maintain any value mapping table in ID?If so then where and how to create it?Where actually do we need to mention it?
You can do it either in ID or you can upload your values into Cache via Value Mapping Replication. (Let's say in a massive way).
In ID just create a new Value Mapping Group. That will create the values in Cache.
In IR, in your mapping, use a ValueMapping object (found under Convertion Functions) and fill it in with the values used to create the object in the ID.
I also have a document step by step for Value Mapping Replication if you want to.
    Good Luck.
    Luismier.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Difference of FixValues and Value Mapping in Message Mapping

    Hi
I would like to know the exact difference between the "FixValues" and Value Mapping. And the Scenarios of usage.
If i use Value Mappings, value mappings more for fixed values or can they be used for business data that will change ?
If the flow is from "Non SAP to SAP System" then if i maintain the "Value Mapping Tables" in Message Mapping, Do i need to maintain the same Value Mapping tables on SAP System. If this is the case, it will be over head of maintaining on both sides.
More thankful if you clarify my doudt.
    Regards
    Shailaja

    Hi,
your question is best explained in the following link(PDF).
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/9202d890-0201-0010-1588-adb5e89a6638
Its given in the 75th page.
    >>If the flow is from "Non SAP to SAP System" then if i maintain the "Value Mapping Tables" in Message Mapping, Do i need to maintain the same Value Mapping tables on SAP System.
I think this is not needed.its not needed to maintain value mapping tables in SAP system.
    hope this helps.

  • ** Not able to create Value Mapping Table in Integration Directory

    Hi friends,
I am not able to create value mapping entries like below in ID.
    Agency :    Computer1                Agency : Computer2
    Scheme:    Country                     Scheme: CountryCode
Value for Computer1                   Value for Computer2
    Australia                                     AU
    India                                           IN
    Austria                                       AU
Note that I have assigned the same country code 'AU' for the Countries 'Australia' & 'Austria'. But, when we assign 'AU' to 'Austria', the system asks question as below:
    Value mapping already exists
              Australia | AU
              Austria | AU
Do you want to delete it from the existing group and assign it to the current group instead?
                       Continue       Cancel
Though choose any of the option, I am not able to assign 'AU' to 'Austria'.
Friends, this is my requirement. How do we solve this ?
    Kindly help me.
    Kind Regards,
    Jeg P.

    Hi Koen,
I tried this. Its working fine now. Thanks for giving guidance to me. Then, I have another doubt. Suppose if we create 2 sets of VM table, (First Receiver will act as 2nd one how do we achieve this). For Ex:
    Set 1:
Source Agency: SYS1              Target Agency: SYS2
Source Scheme: CODE             Scheme : DEPT
             A                                            HR
             B                                            Accts
             C                                            Finance
    Set 2:
Source Agency: SYS2              Target Agency: SYS3
Source Scheme: DEPT             Scheme : GRADE
             HR                                             Second
             Accts                                          First
             Finance                                       First
In this case, I followed the same logic which you said, but I am not able to create. I think the main point is GUID here. If you have any idea, kindly tell me.
    Kind Regards,

  • Value mapping with BPM

    Hi Experts
How to do value mapping with BPM.
I tried searching for blogs in SDN but i didnt get any solution
    Regards
    Sowmya

    Hi,
Your question is not very clear. Let me know how you want to use Value mapping?
You can implement value mapping in two ways..
    1. Value Mapping Replecation Method, in which we create ABAP program (outbound proxy) in R3 which selects data from R3 tables and sends into XI, and which get stored in XI JAVA Cache untill you run the ABAP program next time which is very rare. This kind of method is best when you have large amount of R3 data.
    2. If you have some data which is used just to varify the conditions at run time then in that case we go for Value Mapping creation in Integration Directiory. Below mentiond blog will give an idea how to use Value mapping in ID.
    /people/community.user/blog/2007/01/08/valuemapping-using-the-graphical-mapping-tool
Value Mapping is used in Graphical Mapping which gives the value at run time only, so you cannot test it in TEST Tab of message mapping.
So as per you question, BPM can come into picture later on after you maintain the value mapping in ID and do the corresponding mapping in IR.

  • Mass data update in Value mapping table

    Hi ,
I have used Value mapping replication to update the mass data from external source to Value mapping table . Its updatating in Runtime Cache but i want the data to be visible in GUI Value mapping table as well. Is it possible ? Because i doubt that the data in Runtime Cache may get  removed if the system restarts . Can any one help ?
    Thanks
    Laks

    Hi NALLAM GUNA RANJAN,
Thanks for your prompt reply but i didn't get what you are trying to convey . My issue here is
Instead of manually entering key-value pair in Value mapping table , I used Value mapping replication ( http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2a/9d2891cc976549a9ad9f81e9b8db25/frameset.htm )
Its updating the data in Runtime Cache ( you can see this using Cache Monitoring )  but not able to view the data in Actual Value mapping Table (GUI in Directory of SAPXI) I want the data updated using Replication to be visible in GUI table is it possible ?
Hope you got the question much better now
    Thanks

  • Value Mapping Replication for Mass Data

    Hi SDN,
I have to design an interface in XI 3.0 (SP14 on AIX) for replicating mass data from file databse etc to the XI runtime cache.
I went thru the follwing weblog which proved to be helpful:<b>/people/sreekanth.babu2/blog/2005/02/23/value-mapping-replication
<b>ValueMappingReplicationOut</b> being my Asynchronous outbound interface and <b>ValueMappingReplication</b> being Asynchronous Inbound Interface of in the software component SAP BASIS, software component version SAP BASIS 6.40 in the namespace http//sap.com/xi/XI/System.
Am aware that for this scenario the receiver is predefined (it must be on the Integration Server).
My question here is how do i use the outbound interface to send data to XI. <b>I mean in my case i have a file and SQL server as the sender.</b>
Can somebody detail the steps involved. Suppose i dont want to use ABAP proxy or JAVA proxy HTTP adapter sending the message,
Do i have other options to send data to XI value mapping interface?
    Regards,
    Vineet

When you want to send data from a file, just map the structure from the arriving XML to ValueMappingReplication. There is no need for using the interface ValueMappingReplicationOut or use an ABAP proxy.

  • Value Mapping Replication - XIVMService.execute() search using wildcards

Hi, i'm replicating value mappings to IS' cache.
Replication works fine. Using RWB i'm can list all the data in the Value Mapping Groups cache. I can also perform a loose search entering something like "12*" in the 'Value' field and the result contains all the mappings having 'Value' staring with "12".
The problem arises when i try to do the same search with
    XIVMService.executeMapping
because it just tries to do an exact search insluding the wildcard as the source value. Has anyone tried this? I need help urgently, otherwise i'm afraid i'll have to change my solution radically.
    Thanks in advance
    Nicolá

    >I can also perform a loose search entering something like "12*" in the 'Value' >field and the result contains all the mappings having 'Value' staring with "12".
Are you doing this to manually search for the value in the RWB or is it in the Runtime.
    > The problem arises when i try to do the same search

    XIVMService.executeMapping
    because

Where are you trying this search? What i mean to ask is in the runtime ? Are you using some UDF/ Java code to read the data from the value mapping table?
If my answer/ question is completely off track , I would really like to know what you are trying here

  • Value Mapping Clarification

    Hi All,
I have a question on value mapping. We have created a Value Mapping and maintained a GroupName for it.
Now we want to change the Source and Target Value and delete old values. So,do we need to create a new GroupName after changing Source and Target Value or will this work with Old GroupName also.
    Regards,
    Sahana

    Hi Sahana,
Not sure what you meant by
Now we want to change the Source and Target Value and delete old values. So,do we need to create a new GroupName after changing Source and Target Value or will this work with Old GroupName also.
Adding or removing values in a value mapping group should be straight forward and you can use the same group name.

  • Siebel EAI Value Maps

    HI,
I need to understand how we use the EAI value Maps for mapping values for external System. I am using Siebel 8.0 and need to map values for 2 fields before sending the SOAP message using Outbound Web Service. I can send it and receive the response but the values currently are same in both the systems. Hence I need to understand how I can use Data Maps/EAI values maps for solving the mapping problem.

EAI value maps are conceptually similar to LOVs, except that they are purpose built for use in mapping values between systems. I would suggest going through the Siebel bookshelf in order to gain an in-depth understanding. Here's a link to get you started:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B40099_02/books/EAI4/EAI4_DataMapUSScripts28.html#wp134444
Once you have read the basics, you will come to realize that depending on how you've configured your application you can use the mentioned functions in both WFPs and scripts by directly calling them or using Data Maps.
To specifically answer your question, here's the process:
    a) Define the mappings (Eg. IN for external system = +91 for Siebel)
    b) Define direction - Incoming/ Outgoing (optional but useful)
    c) Create the mappings within Siebel EAI Value Maps Screen making sure you have, like in LOVs, a specific type defined for the mapping (E.g. Back Office Phone Numbers)
    d) Use one of the available Value Map functions (See link above for the description of each of them) either in data maps or scripts to obtain the mapping value keying off the type field defined above
    e) The rest is pretty much the routine stuff (convert to XML and post/ call adapter or whatever)
Hope this makes sense and helps..

  • Value Mapping - Mass replication and Integration Directory interface

    Hello all,
The following question is often approched in this forum but answer is never cleary provided. Thus I'm sorry to ask it again.
We are using Value Mapping mass data replication using special interface provided by XI. We can easily see results in cache using Cache Monitoring tool in RWB.
    My question is :
Is it possible to see and then to maintain such data (mass replicated) using Integration directory (Tools > Value Mapping menu)
In this menu, we don't see our loaded data.
    How to do this ?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Jean-Charles !
We also use VMR, and we find no way to access the cache data from  Integration Directory. I think that by design this is not possible.
Value Mapping Replication for Mass Data
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/2a/9d2891cc976549a9ad9f81e9b8db25/frameset.htm
You cannot display the replicated value mapping data in the Integration Directory user interface (see Displaying/Editing the Value Mapping Table) since the original runtime data is stored in the application from which the data is copied. The value mappings created in this way using the user interface of the Integration Directory are just one of many possible sources of data.

    Matias.
