Values Restricting and variable for single Characterstic?

Hi,
An info object has been already restricted with # sign in Rows.(BEX). If I added a varialble to that characterstic how does it work?
and It allows to add the variable for that characterstic.

Yes, it will allow you to add the varibale for the characteristics.
if you have restricted the characteristic with the " #" value, it won't allow that values rest will be displayed as per the selection.

can you elaborate on the use case instead of the implementation you don't get done? I understand you have data displayed in a tree: so lets assume the tree structure is Locations, Departments and Employees according to the Oracle HR sample schema.
1. What is the LOV supposed to do ?
2. Where is the LOV located ?
3. What values does the LOV show ?
4. Is the LOV a select choice component or a real LOV (with search dialog)
5. Where is the bind variable used ?
To me it sounds like you want to filter the tree data based on the select choice value. However, you wont do this by passing the bind parameter to all View Objects involved as they may not have the attribute in their query. So your use case is important to answer the question

Actuall it all depends on the business process.
I will explain the answer to you through a practical example
like Ford, it has sales and services all across globe.
It is not advisable to manage all of its activities under only one sales organization, say Ford Inc.
So what it does is de-centralises the whole process according to the country, region so that the whole process is divided and hence can be managed more effeciently.
Hope this helps you in understanding the basics.
One sales org always provides you with very less data to update and maintain, while many sales org makes the scenario more complex.
One sales org always gives you the flexibility to bring any changes to the current scenario, while in multiple sales org to bring a change its a tiresome job.
These are some of the advantages and disadvantages of one to many sales org.

"RUNSTATS and REORGCHK for single table" in DB13, I found the parameter, "Parallel Jobs".
Why there is this parameter? Can we execute parallel runstats for single table in SAP environment?

Hi Takae,
Although this DB13 job is named '.. for single table' it can process more than 1 table if you use wildcards. And only in this case parallelism makes sense, because the job cannot parallelize the runstats for one table but only parallelizes the runstats execution for different tables. Technically this is done be creating further background jobs in the SAP system.

Question 1 :
The Data for this single IO should be loaded from a CSV-file.
Answer : You cannot just load only one IO without attributes, so I suggest u maintain a counter for records as an attribute of this Single IO and then load it .
Question 2 :
Loading the same into Infocube .
Answer : Its not possible just with your flat file upload data ,
there are two ways of updating this , either you can update it with a routine basing on your requirement,
else you have to prepare a file again with the combination of the other characteristics and then upload the data into your infocube or if you are getting from source map it .
let me tell you that just loading single IO with a file will never help you in any ways to upload again in to Infocube .

Value category and description for maintenance costs

Does anyone know how I can get the value category and description and tie it to our cost data coming from tables COSP & COSS? I tried going to PMCO but there can be several entries say for labor, services and you have no way of knowing which entry belongs to what type of cost.

Hi,
the value categories + texts are in TPIR2 + TPIR2T. Since you are working with PM, you need to set APPL = PM. And you need to set the correct controlling area. To map the cost elements (COSP, COSS are based on cost elements) to value categories you need to analyze table TPIK3.
Besides I think that the costs for PM orders are also saved to table PMCO. So reading this instead of COSP, COSS might be easier.

SMS_STATE_SYSTEM message ID 6104 and 6105 for single devices

My issue with this situation is different from what I have seen in other posts, so I'm not having any real luck correcting it. I get this in a onesy-twosy frequency where it is affects only one machine instead multiple. I go through all the same
processes, look at the statesys.log, etc., see what machine it is, look at the logs, but not getting anything really concrete. The error I get in the statesys.log actually points to a problem with the database.
sql message: spProcessStateReport - error: message processing encountered a sql error 201 at record 1 for topictype 0: "procedure or function 'spProcessRecord' expects parameter @UserType which was not supplied.", line 0 in procedure.
So I looked this up and found out that it means the usertype variable was expecting a default entry and there was none. I went to the database and the default is 0 (not null), so there actually is an entry, but I'm thinking it is seeing it as null.
I am not adept enough at sql to feel confident enough to change the value to 1, and quite frankly, if that was the big issue, then I would likely have this problem with many or most of the clients (we many thousand clients). So does anyone have any suggestions?
I realize it is the onesy-twosy occurance right now, but I would like to know how to correct it, especially if it potentially grows in number. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I assumed these are related?

How to store values in session variables for use later

I am trying to read user input from a form, lookup some values from a database,
store the combined data into session to retrieve later in the subsequent pages
in a pageflow application. Could someone guide me as to how exactly to do this?
The documentation doesn't seem to be of much help.

Krishna,
     If you will be using the data within the course of the same page flow
or nested page flows then you should store the data in the page flow
itself. Simply declaring variables in the .jpf will do this. The page
flow is stored in the session for you and it is deleted when the user
exits the page flow. This is good because it keeps down session size.
     If you have data that you want to use across page flows then you will
need to store in the session or globalApp.
     Here is a link to "Using Data Binding in Page Flows" it has an example
of storing data into the session and it goes into the pros and cons of
using each data binding scope.

What is default user and password for Single Sign On

When I try to run a test.rdf report (that comes for demonstration purpose). A page appears which asks form SSO user and password.<br>
I tried all user IDs and password that I have used so for during installation. But none works. Please give me hint about it.

If you would like to turn off the SSO for Reports, you can edit the Reports server's .conf file. For some reason, Oracle enabled SSO by default for Reports.
You can access this file through OEM, or you can hand-edit it. It is located at ORACLE_HOME\reports\conf\<rep_server_name>.conf. (Make a back-up first just in case).
Scroll down about a third of the file until you locate the <security>. . .</security> section.
Delete this section, save the file (and run dcmctl updateconfig if you hand-edited the file), and restart the OC4J_BI_Forms instance.
You will no longer get the SSO sign-in page when you run a report.

I have a production order , for example, for 12 pieces / serial number . Material is produced in lot , in this case 3 lot of 4 pieces.
Pieces in a lot are linked toghether in a grap.
Production order create an inspection lot where I can store quality data for every pieces / serial number.
I need to store quality data at lot level ( for example the grap weight );
Is it possible ?

Example: I want to apply variable(single and optional) for plant and also restrict not assigned values(#)
I created variable (given single and optional)and also excluded # for plant but at the run time the variable act as a mandatory variable.

in your case that is not possible.here i am providing diagnosis of the SAP in which cases the optional is not possible.so try creating a customer exit variable.
Diagnosis
An optional entry for is not possible in the following cases:
is used in a selection row with Exclude (SIGN = E).
v1& is used in a selection row whose operation is not EQ or BETWEEN.
The selection row is an interval and both the from value and the to value are optional variables.
The selection is a structure element (FEMS >0) and comprises multiple rows for the same characteristic.

If you are able to accept the mandatory entry, you need not do anything. In the third case, you can use an optional interval variable. In the latter case, you define two or more (not visible) selection
elements that you combine with a formula element.
