VAMT Question

Good evening,
I would like to ask if it is possible to activate less than 25 computers using MAK keys and VAMT in the same way as KMS ? From what I read using Windows 8.1 Enterpise activated via MAK is troublesome, since it would ask for activation every time when the
USB stick is plugged into another computer. Therefore, I would like to know if it is possible to omit the problem using VAMT

Using Multiple Activation Key (MAK) activation is not a supported activation method for Windows To Go as each different PC-host would require separate activation. MAK activation should not be used for activating Windows, Office, or any other application
on a Windows To Go drive.
And for KMS, Your organization must have at least five (5) computers to activate servers running Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, or Windows Server 2012 and at least twenty-five (25) computers to activate client systems running Windows Vista,
Windows 7, or Windows 8.

Office 2013 Volume License Activation question

Hello,
we have software assurance, so MAK and KMS are available for O2013.
I cannot use KMS server (there are reasons for now). So I have to use MAK. I know that it is possible later on to convert MAK to KMS.
I found topic about ADBA. But missing few points from the description after my 2 questions.

Q1) there is a KMShost product key, and there is a KMSclient product key.
The KMShost product key, you install this in your KMShost machine, and the client machines which have the KMSclient product key will contact your KMShost machine for activation.
Volume Licensed products are provided by MSFT with the KMSclient product key already installed. The KMSclient product keys are also publically available in the TechNet library documentation.
VAMT can be used, with or without KMS installed. VAMT is not part of KMS, and, KMS is not part of VAMT.
ADBA is not part of VAMT and VAMT is not part of ADBA.
ADBA can only be used if your AD is at the later version, and, ADBA only works for the latest products like Windows8 and Office2013.
If you have older AD or older products you will still need to have KMS or MAK.
Q2) after 180days, it's the same as KMS - the KMSclient (or ADBA client) will enter "non-genuine" mode if the client has not contacted ADBA object (or KMShost) to renew the activation status.

VAMT 3.0 unknown error 0x80131904 on update license status

I have VAMT 3.0 installed on a windows 2008 R2 server with SQL Express installed also, both from Windows ADK.
When I try to update license status on VAMT 3.0 on a specific windows 7 computer it ends with error: unknown error (0x80131904).
For Windows Servers an Office on windows XP it works fine.

Above is the error in stack. The general meaning of the error is what we are trying to insert a larger length value. For example inserting value 'Balmukund' in varchar(8) column would fail because my name as 9 characters.
Since its raised by VAMT, this has to be reported to them to find where the problem is.

VAMT 3.0 Duplicate Client Machine ID Report showing excessive number of computers

We are running a KMS on a 2008 R2 VM with plenty of CPU, RAM and storage. I recently configured and installed the Volume Activation Management Tool 3.0. Everything seems to be working well except that reviewing the Volume License
Reports, specifically the Duplicate Client Machine ID Report, I noticed an excessive number (about 4 times the number of actual managed computers) are listed in this report node. Even assuming that computer images were not being sysprep'd this
seems really odd. The License Overview shows 1,813 licensed and 1,678 unknown (possibly off or disconnected devices) and our duplicate CMID report shows about 8,300 plus. What are the possible causes why this number is so high and how do I troubleshoot
and remediate inaccuracies?

Duplicate CMID can come if you didnt used /generalize option when sysprep'ing. (http://blogs.technet.com/b/askcore/archive/2009/10/16/kms-host-client-count-not-increasing-due-to-duplicate-cmid-s.aspx)
Please check your KMS's log, to be sure if true or not. If duplicate, it will be logged by your KMS's host.
In virtual, like XenDesktop or View with a golden image it can easilly happen, as the CMID is kept by the server for the virtual's machine (aka the PVS for XenDesktop)

Hi Yagmoth555, thanks for the reply. I know this is not the case for our environment as it's telling me that physical systems that were installed with the ISO have duplicate ID's. Also, the previous version of VAMT that we were running didn't show
1,560 systems as having the same ID. I have already deleted every "product" from the database and rescanned our environment, but I get the same result.

Cannot install KMS key in VAMT for KMS clients

Dear Sir / Madam,
I have some technical problems about setup the KMS host and KMS clients.
OS of the KMS host: Windows Server 2012 Standard
OS of the KMS client: Windows 7 Professional (32bit)
Question 1:
I want to use KMS host server to handle KMS keys and activations for KMS clients. Which type of KMS key need to install in KMS host ?
Would I need to install Windows 7 Professional KMS key or
Windows Server 2012 Standard KMS key in the Volume Activation Management Tool (VAMT) ?
Question 2:
I found that I cannot installed the Windows 7 Professional KMS key in the Volume Activation Management Tool (VAMT), it pop-up an error message said that the KMS key invalid. How can I fix the problem?

You can also follow these steps:
1. Select a computer that you want to be your KMS host:
2. Install Windows Server.
3. At cmd prompt type the following:
Slmgr.vbs /ipk <your KMS KEY from MVLS>
The /ipk installs your MVLS key. Note if you need to change your key. For example change from a KMS_B to KMS_C key you must restart the Software Licensing service.
4. At cmd prompt type the following:
Slmgr.vbs /ato
The /ato activates the KMS host with Microsoft. You must activate the KMS host.
5. Restart the Software Licensing service.
6. Install the KMS client computers by using volume license media. You should not be prompted for cdkey during installation
7. By default these KMS client computers will query DNS and locate your KMS host and activate
KMS Client Setup Keys
To reset computers to be KMS clients type the following at elevated command prompt:
Slmgr.vbs /ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
Where xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx is the generic VL key from the following link.

Need assistance with VAMT/Preserving Windows 7 Activation when Reinstalling Windows (MAK) - Urgent

Hello,
My current HDD (500GB SATA 3 Toshiba HDD) is failing, and displaying a warning. I bought a new WD 750 GB HDD to replace it making sure it is compatible with SATA 3.
Problem: Reinstalling Windows 7 Professional and Office 2010 Professional Plus and activating both of them.
Activation/Products Affected:
They are "Retail" versions (MAK) but Academic so the activation limit is between 2 and 5. (Yes, they are only installed on One Computer, are Genuine and are compliant....).
Background: I am a college student, taking IT related courses and we have to install a lot of resource intensive software. I usually reinstall Windows every 4-6 months to "Start Fresh"
which I notice improved performance and only install necessary software. This is using up the MAK activations as is to be expected.
Goal: I would like to use VAMT 2.0 (or ideally 3.0 -but I have zero knowledge of SQL). I also do not have a server, just 2 or 3 Standard Laptops (Windows 8.1, Windows XP Home, and this Windows
7 PC).

Can I use proxy activation in this case to "preserve the Activations by using VAMT to store the Installation and Confirmation ID's to avoid having frequent activation problems? If so, can someone please help me?
I tried to set the WMI Windows Firewall Rules to Allow for Public, Home and Work on both PC's but was unable to activate in a previous attempt a few months ago.
Any help is more than appreciated. I am backing up all of my files and have to get this completed before college courses resume (in 3 days).

If you do a full image of the current 500GB HDD and then restore it to the 750GB HDD you will preserve the Windows Activation. This will work with any backup that does a full image of the HDD including Windows 7 Backup.
Windows 7 Backup will only restore an exact duplicate of the original 500GB HDD retaining the same partition scheme and sizes which can be expanded later. Most third party backup programs will restore to a larger HDD and expand the current partitions.
Some give you the option to control the size of the expanded individual partitions.

Upgrade VAMT 2.0 to 3.0 OR use VAMT 2.0 to activate Lync 2013

Hi there,
Recently built a Windows Server 2012 server and installed Lync server 2013 standard. This is now running fine and I can install the Lync client on my machine and sign in. *as a side note we also have a Lync 2010 server but the idea is to decommission this
once 2013 is ready.
I've recently discovered that VAMT 2.0, which we have installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 licensing server, does not like to activate Lync (or Office) 2013 via KMS or MAK keys. Our current Office deployment is 2010.
My questions are several
- Can VAMT 2.0 somehow be used to activate Lync 2013 (without Office 2013) either via KMS or MAK?
- If so, is that the easiest option or would it be easier to upgrade VAMT to version 3.0, but still use Server 2008 R2?
- If VAMT 2 cannot activate Lync 2013, can VAMT 2.0 be upgraded to 3.0 without a lot of effort, i.e. bring across all existing activations present on version 2.0 which we use for Windows 7 and Office 2010?
-Alternatively, can VAMT 3.0 be installed side-by-side with 2.0 allowing me to use 3.0 just for Lync? (I doubt it).

I don't use VAMT myself, I only use KMShosts, KMSclients, and a small number of MAK clients.
I seem to recall reading that if you have VAMT2, you need to upgrade to VAMT3.0/3.1 to manage Office2013 products (but I can't find where I read that).
Also note that you should export the data from VAMT2.0 as a .CIL file, since you would need to import that into the SQL database which is part of VAMT3.0/3.1.

How to deactivate an old KMS activated client in VAMT 3.1?

I have been unable to find anything in the application, help or Internet that addresses my question. How do I deactivate a host in VAMT? We're an organization that relies on donated computers so sometimes we churn through them quickly. Do I just simply delete
it from VAMT? Do I just ignore it and the activation will expire when the client doesn't phone in?
I apologize in advance if I missed something obvious on this one.

You can just let it go.
KMS hands out temporary activations to it's clients. There's not much you can to do administer it or manage what is checking in. Honestly, there's real reason to be concerned about it.
KMS is one of those things that you can set and forget. As long as new clients are getting activated and all clients can reactivate within 180 days, you're good.
If you're concerned about presentation, you can definitely remove them from VAMT.

The quickest way to confirm if VAMT2 is suitable for Office2013 is to test it.

KMS Licensing question

Hi -
I'm working on getting us set up on a volume license key using KMS. The question I have is, what happens to machines until you hit the magic 25 needed for KMS to be activated on workstations?
In other words, say I only have 10-15 computers that I am deploying right now - that won't kick in the KMS server, in my understanding, so will those workstations function?

I see - well that's rather annoying that the customer will see that til I get to the magic number 25. It sounds as though in contradiction to an earlier reply though, that the grace period is only 30 days, not 180?
if you mean the @arnavsharma reply, er, yes, it depends on how you read it.
180days is the "maximum" period that a KMSclient can run, without communicating with a KMShost. (changing into non-genuine status)
The "minimum", in practical terms, is immediately, depending on the circumstances.
What some implementers do, is to deploy as MAK to the first batch of machines, choosing machines that are normally in the office and on the network. This is so that they can be remotely re-configured from MAK to KMSclient (e.g. by using slmgr.vbs or
VAMT, or even by hand) - when there are enough machines to get to 25.

I'm fairly new to Oracle Quoting and trying to get familiar with it. I have a few questions and would appreciate if anyone answers them
1) We have a requirement to customize the Print Quote report. I searched these forums and found that this report can be defined either as a XML Publisher report or an Oracle Reports report depending on a profile option. Can you please let me know what the name of the profile option is?
2) When I select the 'Print Quote' option from the Actions drop down in the quoting page and click Submit I get the report printed and see the following URL in my browser.

No, there is no conc program getting called, you can directly call a report in a browser window, Oracle reports server will execute the report and send the HTTP response to the browser.4) If we want to customize the jsp pages can you please let me know the steps involved in making the customizations and testing them.

Satellite P300D-10v - Question about warranty

HI EVERYBODY
I have these overheating problems with my laptop Satellite P300D-10v.
I did everything I could do to fix it without any success..
I get the latest update of the bios from Toshiba. I cleaned my lap with compressed air first and then disassembled it all and cleaned it better.(it was really clean insight though...)
BUT unfortunately the problem still exists...
So i made a research on the internet and I found out that most of Toshiba owners have the same exactly problem with their laptop.
Well i guess this is a Toshiba bug for many years now.
Its a really nice lap, cool sound (the best in laptop ever) BUT......
So I wanted to make a question. As i am still under warranty, can i return this laptop and get my money back or change it with a different one????

Regarding the warranty question;
If there is something wrong with the hardware then the ASP in your country should be able to help you.
The warranty should cover every reparation or replacement.
But I read that you have disasembled the laptop at your own hand... hmmm if you have disasembled the notebook then your warrany is not valid anymore :(
I think this should be clear for you that you can lose the warrany if you disasemble the laptop!
By the way: you have to speak with the notebook dealer where you have purchased this notebook if you want to return the notebook
The Toshiba ASP can repair and fix the notebook but you will not get money from ASP.

Anyone know how to remove Overdrive books from my iphone that have been transferred from my computer? They do not show up on itunes. I see a lot of answers to this question but they all are based on being able to see the books in iTunes.

How do I remove Overdrive books from the library that were downloaded onto my computer then transferred to my iphone? The problem is that they do not show up in iTunes.
I see this question asked a lot when I google, but they always give answers that assumes you can find the books in iTunes either under the books tab, or the audio books tab or in the music. They do not show up anywhere for me. They do not remove from the app like the ones I downloaded directly onto my iphone.the related archived article does not answer it either. there is an app called daisydisk on mac app store which will help you see exactly where the memory is focused and consumed try using that app and see which folders are using more memory
