Vanishing Point filter, export for After Effects (.vpe) is disabled

I am using Photoshop CS6 Extended (ver 13.0). I can apply the Vanishing Point filter to a jpeg still and set/apply the planes but the Export For After Effects (.vpe) command in the drop-down menu within the VP window is greyed out. I understood this filter is a feature of the Extended version. Can anyone help explain why this is disabled? Much appreciate any advice.
OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8
MacBook Pro6,2 15" Intel Core i7

Hi, I'm having the same problem...all I want is to create perspective on this chinese temple I've masked out of a background. There are only two planes. Is the VP effect possible on this? Both planes are blue but the export button is still grayed out.

Thats what i thought, but when i use compressor to export an animation, i get a smaller image with more grain and pixelation. I need a reference movie i think but am not sure what that really means.
You don't use Compressor to create a file using the Animation codec, just export right out of FCP using QT Conversion and select Animation. But then you have to make sure the settings are correct and, frankly, you don't sound like you're up to that.
You don't need Animation unless you need to transfer alpha information. You probably just need a reference movie, as you stated. Easily found in the help system for FCP or in the manuals. A bit tricky till you get the concept. A reference movie isn't a movie, it's just a text file that points to the pieces of movies on your drives that make up the sequence. AE sees the reference move as a real movie. However, if you change something back in the sequence to which the reference is pointing, like you change the spelling on some text, the reference movie will break because the material it used to point at is gone.

  • Ilustrator CS5 Exports for After Effects CS5

    Hi,
I have a layers illustrator document that I've had issues with trying to export correctly into After Effects. I've trawled the web and found various bit ot advice around illustrator preferences ( "File Handling and Clipboard" -> preserve Paths) and saving as pdf (I think at "ai" files should work too) and finally - preparing your illustrator document for exporting. From what I can tell on the last section layers need to be flat (i.e. no sub layers etc.), which can be acomplished by the layer panel fly out menu -> "Release to layers". Anything small items that you don't want exported should be grouped.
OK here's my issue. I don't seem to be able to flatten out all my layers. I have:
    - Layer1
         -Text1
         -Text2
         -Box
and what I think I need is:
    -Text1
    - text2
    -Box
that is, every at the same level - flat. However I can't see how to do it.
I'd appreciate any help or advice.
    Thx

Release to layer sequence then select all then drag all the layers out of layer 1 or the layer they were a part of and now save it and inport that as a composition retain layer size.
the force alphabetical order is optional and you do not have to select Illustrator pdf/eps you can select footage or all files then just seect the ai file.
I recommend bringing it in as an .ai file
I then dragged the folder containing the layers into the time line and had to reorder them they were kind of bckward.

Yopmanfoll please see Configuration error 16 | CC, CS for information on how to resolve the current error.

  • Png blurry/pixelated after i used the vanishing point filter and save as a VSP file?

    Hi,
Why are my png blurry/pixelated  after i used the vanishing point filter and save as a VSP file? And i'm using a high res picture. I'm using PS CC.
    I got some screenshots.
This the result of the png
    Thanx in advance

As I posted before, I would use it more if it had some of the functionality I need. I need to be able to change the opacity of the image I'm pasting so I can see EXACTLY where my overlaid image will register with the bottom image. VP seems to require a ton of processing and I wonder if maybe the software is handing off some of this work to the graphics card for calculating. Maybe this would explain that apparently not many people have run into an error that gets embedded in the file. Although my G5 is Apple stock, not super-modified.

  • Custom keyboard shortcuts for Liquify and Vanishing Point filter interfaces in Photoshop CS4?

Is there a way to set custom keyboard shortcuts for Liquify and Vanishing Point filter interfaces in Photoshop CS4? When I change my keyboard shortcuts preferences for Photoshop, they don't change for these filter interfaces. Is there another way?

    what is the problem ??
I tried to change the shortcut for the Vanishing Point and Liquify from
Edit -> keyboard shortcuts(button) -> keyboard shortcuts (tab) -> filter (tab)
and you will find these filters :
double click on it and make a new shortcut
but it MUST be Ctrl + (any letter) or you can make it Ctrl + Alt + (any letter)
but if you made it just one lettre like S for example
you will can't make a shortcut.
hope I understood what you ment ???

  • Normal Map filter for After Effects? :D

Is there a filter or plug for After Effects that allows you to convert a sequence of heightmaps into a sequence of normal maps?
I tried using the NVidia filter in Photoshop as a batch process but it seems to choose its own settings for the NVidia filter...
    Maybe someone has another suggestion?
    Thanks!

I'm actually talking about something more along the lines of the NVidia Normal map filter... as found here:
    http://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop
I want to create animated normal texture maps for use in 3D software...

  • Why is Vanishing Point filter in the latest Photoshop CC creating PNGs that do not match the planes?

    Hi Everyone,
I've scoured the forums, as well as external sites, but not finding a solution.
Tried tech support, their ideas didn't pan out. Would greatly appreciate some guidance.
Every time I try to use VPE, the resulting mesh is fine (the dxf), but the PNGs
do not match the drawn planes at all.
For example, I'll use a file from wikimedia. (all images re-compressed for the forum)
I draw the right wall, make sure it is blue, then pull the floor.
Pull the floor and the left wall.
Pull the back ground (hard to see in the compressed image, but it is there).
    Pull the ceiling.
The completed planes.  Right wall was drawn, remaining were each
pulled out the of the previous plane.  All blue.  Entire image is covered.
Importing the VPE into After Effects CC.  Note the wonky textures.
Here are the actual textures (original PNGs compressed into JPEG for posting).
This is the background piece, note how the section of the image doesn't align at
all with the plane I drew.
Hope this issue is clear to all.  The mesh looks fine to me, just the PNGs are off.
I've successfully used the Vanishing Point filter extensively in previous versions of Photoshop.
I'm currently using Photoshop CC on OSX 10.8.4 running on a 15" PowerBook Retina.
I've tried the following to no avail:
    differing JPEGs
    drawing the floor first
drawing the first surface counter-clockwise and clockwise : )
    ensured all planes are blue
    disabled graphics acceleration under prefererences
completed uninstalled Photoshop and reinstalled with clean performance/preference settings (did not import any previous settings).removed the "Adobe Photoshop CC Settings" folder as well.
Tried exporting a DXF, again mesh looks great, textures are wrong.
Ideas are appreciated because right now, I'm stuck : )

    GOT IT!!!!
After we eliminated Adobe settings, and the software, I started wondering what's outside that could be affecting VPE.
It's the resolution of the screen!  I have a MBP Retina.
Using SetResX, I cranked the resolution of my screen from the default retina 1440 x 900 to the hardware's native res of 2880 x 1800.
    THIS FIXED IT.
The resulting PNGs from the export perfectly match the planes (DXF Mesh).
So, I'm asserting that there may be a bug in the current release of PS CC where it is not compatible with the default retina resolution on the MacBook Pro.

  • Media Encoder CC not using GPU acceleration for After Effects CC raytrace comp

I created a simple scene in After Effects that's using the raytracer engine... I also have GPU enabled in the raytracer settings for After Effects.
When I render the scene in After Effects using the built-in Render Queue, it only takes 10 minutes to render the scene.
But when I export the scene to Adobe Media Encoder, it indicates it will take 13 hours to render the same scene.
So clearly After Effects is using GPU accelleration but for some reason Media Encoder is not.
I should also point out that my GeForce GTX 660 Ti card isn't officially supported and I had to manually add it into the list of supported cards in:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC\Support Files\raytracer_supported_cards.txt
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CC\cuda_supported_cards.txt
While it's not officially supported, it's weird that After Effects has no problem with it yet Adobe Media Encoder does...
I also updated After Effects to 12.1 and AME to 7.1 as well as set AME settings to use CUDA but it didn't make a difference.
    Any ideas?

    That is normal behavior.
The "headless" version of After Effects that is called to render frames for Adobe Media Encoder (or for Premiere Pro) using Dynamic Link does not use the GPU for acceleration of the ray-traced 3D renderer.
If you are rendering heavy compositions that require GPU processing and/or the Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously multiprocessing, then the recommended workflow is to render and export a losslessly encoded master file from After Effects and have Adobe Media Encoder pick that up from a watch folder to encode into your various delivery formats.

  • Writing plug-in for After Effects

I wish to write a character generator kind of a plug-in for After Effects.
We have written similar plug-in for premiere which used to be created using the Import option in Adobe Premiere Pro.We managed to import our format and that was put on timeline, and then supplied content using our engine, when imImportImage callback was called.
In PremeirPro there was only one entry point.
What I got from reading the After effects SDK help was that there shall one entry point if we wish to write an effect. But we dont wish to write an effect but an importer.
Will it be a AEGP plug-in?
How should we go about it? Can we have a sample plug-in of such type, wherein a custom file format is implemented?
    regards
    Jasleen Kaur

there are two sample projects in the sdk that would be of interest to you.
    1. IO (deals with importing and exporting of custom file types)
    2. FBIO (the same as the above, but deals with frame sequences and not with movies)
there is one thing you should consider when doing this as an import plug-in:
as opposed to premier, that seeks the original file every time to display it, AE caches frames.
so even if you change the source, AE will not necessarily show that, until the "footage" is re loaded or AE starts recycling ram.
you can change the preferences of AE so that it doesn't cache anything, but then you seriously impair AE's performance.

  • How to Optimize a New iMac for After Effects

I bought the most tricked out brand new iMac available, with 32GB ram, an updated graphics card, everything.
But, exporting my project from After Effects takes the same amount of time on my new iMac as it did on my 2011 macbook - about 6 hours.
I know how to manipulate my export settings, so maybe I just need to change my computer's system settings to work better with After Effects.
Mac had no advice and pointed me to Adobe, so here I am.
    Any advice?

  • Vanishing point filter error

Hi, I am using cs3 on a mac. Suddenly the vanishing point filter is not working. I get an error message when I try to select the vanishing point filter that the operation could not be completed. I tried the vanishing point filter on two different PSD files and both times I got the same error message so the error is not specific to any one file.(The filter had previously worked on these two files before the problem started.) I then reset photoshops preferences by holding down the option, command and shift keys when launching photoshop, but am still getting the same error message when I try to open the filter on the same two files.
I then opened a file that I had used the vanishing filter on in cs2. When I chose the vanishing point filter, the filter opened after a message that "saved planes have been updated to the current version of photoshop. Converted planes cannot be opened with previous versions once they have been saved." I clicked ok and was able to make changes to the image that had originally been created in cs2 with the vanishing point filter.
What is causing this problem and what can I do? Thanks.

  • Exporting from After Effects to Final Cut Pro

    Hi
Could anybody tell me the best way to export from After Effects, back in to Final Cut Pro? Do I need to get Automatic Duck for this, if so which one?
    Thanks for any help!
    Matt

You need to add your composition to the render cue and then export to the same format and codec that you're using in FCP. Automatic Duck is a great tool for getting your FCP or Motion timelines into After Effects but most of the time I simply select a clip in FCP, export it as a reference movie, bring it into AE for processing, then render a file to use as a replacement in FCP.
Search for After Effects Final Cut Workflow and you'll find some more tips including this one. It isn't bad for organization but it misses the point of using the same codec. All my FCP projects are ProRez HQ or ProREZ 444 so that's my choice. Also, if you use the entire shot, which is not a bad idea, then you can use the replace footage option in FCP which is more efficient than the demoed technique of dragging your rendered shot into the timeline and then trimming if needed.
    Hope this helps.

  • Vanishing point filter crashing

    I am running Photoshop CS4 V11.01 on Windoows 7 64Bit.
I am having huge problems with the vanishing point filter crashing the whole program! I have heard a lot of people complain about this, is there a fix???
I upgraded to W7 64 so I could avoid these problems and now I find CS4 is more unstable?
NVIDIA graphics card GEForce 8600 GT open GL enabled (I have tried messing with all the setings for the card but it has had no effect)
I have CS4 on my laptop running XP 32Bit and it runs fine on there (with a non open GL graphics card)
Memory is set to max in preferences

Turn off OpenGL in the prefs? Seems logical, if this clearly seems to be the problem.

  • Transform within the Vanishing Point filter

    Hi -
Last night I was trying to copy/paste one image into another, using the Vanishing Point filter. The object being pasted started out much larger than the area I marked out with the VP filter. After it pasted, I clicked the Transform tool (still in the VP filter dialog). I was able to rotate the pasted object, but could not find the handles to resize it. Finally, I managed to redo the original object so that it was small enough to paste into the VP selection, and hit Transform again. That time, the handles were there for me to enlarge it - no problem.
Why would the Transform tool in VP allow me to make my pasted object larger, but not smaller? Or was I just up too late last night? I did search well outside the bounds of the marked VP paste selection, looking for the handles, but couldn't find them. Using CS4 on XP.
    Thanks!

See if the ScriptingListener plugin generates any code for it. If it doesn't,
you are probably out of luck.
