Variable consumption of a resource

Hi,
In PPM when we define modes, there is a field called Variable Duration.
I want to know how this field is calculated if the data is transfered from R/3.
What is the exact definition of this field.
Eg. In master recipe, the machine time is 33 Min, Labor time is 7 Min.
In PPM , the variable duration is 0.117 Hrs. (How??????)
Base Qty : 1000 Kgs
Thanks

Dear asheesh,
In R/3 work center, there is a processing fomula on scheduling tab page.
For example, Procrssing Fomula(Processing Time) = Production time * Operation quantity / Base quantity / Operation splits with base quantity. And also, in routing, there are activities for each opearion and one of them is used as production time.
In your case, variable duration 0.117 means that you defined the processing fimula with labor time. So if base quantity, operation quantity, operation split are 1000, 1000, 1 repectively then processing time based on processing fomula is 7 min.(7 * 1000 / 1000/ 1)
In APO, the processing time is used as variable duration which is lot size dependent and converted to hr.
Hope tobe helpful.

  • PPM: Variable Consumption(core interface

    Hi Experts
Facing a problem in Variable bucket Consumption of  PPDS-PPM. I am transferring all  PPMs from ECC only. After CIFED, there is non uniformity across bucket consumption values in PPDS-PPM. The values are populated in variable/fixed continious consumption, but we need that the same is to be populated in variable/fixed bucket consumption so as to generate the SNP PPM.
Plese give ur valuable inputs, it will be highly appreciated.

    Hi Guru,
Check out the Master data maintained in ECC for both work center and BoM & Routing.  Also check the type of resource maintained in ECC which was used in the PPM.   Once the required corrections are made, re-do the entire ciffing activity and check the values in PPM.

  • Define a sort of static variable in a FlatFile Resource

This is the problem, i have a FlatFile Resource that calls a Process Rule (a Workflow). Every user that FlatFile Resource find with the Workflow it retrieves a list, so every time it wastes time because the list is always the same, i have to retrieve this list only the first time the FlatFile start. I wonder if there is a way to define a variable that is setted only the first time FlatFile start and every user can access to it. Who comes from the world of Java like me, i mean to define a sort of a static variable.

  • Datastore Resource Name Variable

    Hello Experts,
In the past, we have successfully implemented the use of a variable name inside the resource name of a Datastore to dynamically change the name of the table. This technique has been always useful to loop through a set of files assigning the name of the file to a variable and then using this value within the resource name of a Datastore.
When trying to implement the same technique in ODI 11g, it looks like the value of the variable is not being use by ODI when executing the package. When I look at the execution code the FROM clause is using the name of the variable instead of the value assigned to that variable IE:
    select *
    from #NameOfVariable
Is this a known issue in 11g? or is there a new way to implement variables for Datastore resource names?.
The variable that i'm using has been set to Alphanumeric type and I'm assigning a static value inside my ODI package.
    Thanks for your help.
    Pablo C.

better you can store all the resource names into one db table after that with helping of the refresh variable u can get file name one by one ,better declare a loop for this dynamic variable.
if you have any doubts please revert back this.

  • Does hiding controls/indicators on the front panel significantly effect computer resource consumption?

I remember reading something about transparent controls and indicators leading to overhead processing... does hiding controls/indicators have similar or ANY negative effects?

There's a difference between "effecting resource consumption" and "affecting resource consumption" - I assume you mean "affect".
There's a difference between a transparent control and a hidden control - Hidden means the VISIBLE property is set to FALSE, and certain optimizations can be done - it doesn't have to draw anything. If a control is set to transparent, it will still go through the motions of converting that integer to text (or whatever), and then draw nothing (the decision is made later, so more time is taken).
A transparent control can still react to mouse clicks. A hidden one cannot.
It shouldn't affect any memory consumption, except for a video frame buffer.
It's not clear from the question whether you mean the ACT of hiding t
hem (the turning OFF of the visible property), or the fact that they may be hidden.

  • Multi activi resource

    Dear Friends,
We are using multi activity resource with number of individual capacity as 10. when planning is done, it is giving the same start date for 10 different order as it has 10 individual capacity. But my requirement is,
1 day = 7 hrs. total available capacity is 70 hrs per day.
i want the system to consume 10 capacities  at a time for one order. but 10 capacitoes are consumed by 10 different planned orders. Is there any setting to handle this.
Pls get back to me with your valuable inputs.
    Regards
    Vinay

    Hi ,
This is based on the consumption you defined in PPM or PDS for example :
8 Hours to produce 1 Product  , and you have maintain 10 individual capacity
This means SAP will consume 1 individual capacity only
Variable consumption are available in PPM

  • Capacity Consumption in SNP planning book

    Hello,
Can anyone explain what drives the calculation of capacity consumption KF in the planning book.
    Here is the example.
    1) I have a Resource whose SNP bucket capacity of 90,000/Hr = 450000/Wk
    2) I created a PP/DS PPM for one product from ECC and then converted it to a SNP PPM
    3) There was no resource assignment in the SNP PPM. I then manaully assigned the resource (in step 1) to the PPM.
    4) The material consumption on the SNP PPM is 37 per HR
    5) The variable bucket consumption on the resource within the SNP PPM is 1 per hr.
Now I created a planned order of 4440 for the finished product in the SNP planning book manually (behind the scenes the heuristic run was carried out obviously).
On my capacity view, the values i see are:
    Available capacity  = 450000/Week (which is clear since its 90,000 * 5 days/week)
    Capacity Conusmption = 6845
    Resource capacity level in % = 1.521 (which is 6845/450000 * 100).
The only question is how is the Capacity Conusmption value populated by a value of 6845?
Please provide me your input gurus.
    Thx,
    Vishy
The idea is to create oneresource and assign it to multiple SNP PPMs so that the capacity situation on this resource for various products could be analysed.)

  • Problems with Var. Bucket Consumpt. field in PPMs

    Hi experts,
I'm trying to manually create a PPM (Production Process Model) into APO (to use it with SNP), however, the value entered in the
Bucket Consumption (Variable) field disappears when I active the PPM. Someone could tell me what I am doing wrong?
First, I created a Resource ( using fields of tab 1 Bucket ) with the following data:
    Resource
    Resource: R
    Category (Cat): P - Production
    Location: L
    Time Zone: BRAZIL
    Bucket Dimensn: Mass
    Factory Calendar: BR
    Bucket Capacity: 96000
    Unit: KT - Kilotonne
    Number of Periods: 365
    Period Type: Day
    Days -: 1095
    Days +: 1095
ie, a resource with a capacity of 96000 Kilotonne per year.
The PPM I'm trying to create is the following:
    PPM's General Data
Use of a Plan: S - PPM for Supply Network Planning (SNP)
    Variable (Single Level Costs): 980,00
    PPM's Operations and Activities
    Operation: 0010:Produce
    Activity: 10:Produce
    Components of Activity

ie, a PPM to produce 1000 KT of A in 4 days that consumes 1000 KT of R resource capacity.
The value of 1000 KT in the field Var. Bucket Consumpt. is not allowed. I could only register values between 0 and 9.

    Hi,
Its a good practice that when you make PPM manually keep fixed duration as '1 Day' (in your mode of activity).
One thing i noticed that you made your resource as bucket resource, which is correct,
but the number you mentioned there (Bucket Capacity: 96000) is not right. What is the unit? It  should be in hours (should be 8 or 9 or ).
That means in One day the resource is capable of producing goods for 8/9/ Hours. So, make the change there.
Now in your Mode of activity make fix  duration  1 Day.
    Components of Activity
Product          I/O Indicator     Consump. Type     From Date     To Date          Unit     Var. Consumptn
    A          O          E          01.01.1970     31.12.9999     KT     1000
    B          I          S          01.01.1970     31.12.9999     KT     560
    C          I          S          01.01.1970     31.12.9999     KT     180
    D          I          S          01.01.1970     31.12.9999     KT     260
    Mode of Activity
Mode     Primary Resrce          Location     Unit     Fix. dur.
    10     R               L          D     1
Now in resource: put following value
    Resource Mode
Resource     Location     Unit     Var. Bucket Consumpt.
    R     L     H          1
You will get an output as 8000 or 9000 (depending on your resource capacity per day, ie 8hr or 9 hr  )
and if you put Variable consumption as 8/9 hrs the you will get 1000 KT per day, in that case you put variable material/product consumtion as 250 KT,
so you can get 1000 KT per four day. Variable resource consumption responsible for variable output (variable consumption of FG).
Pls revert if still there is any issue.
    Thanks,

  • Deployment Issues with Custom TS variables set for client

    Good Day folks!
I have come across an interesting issue that I have not been able to find a quick fix as such I am looking for some ideas where to trouble shoot my issue moving forwards.
    So the Issue:
I have a TS that deploys a Windows 8.1 SOE image, this is done first by using a PXE boot PE image for an “unknown” systems to load a Custom HTA. This HTA allows me manually add the system to SCCM and add it to a required deployments collection that has the
    8.1 SOE deployed to it.
The HTA also sets a few custom variables for the system resource things like system location, Machine Domain etc.
Once the HTA has run the system then has a delay to allow for the resource to show up tin the 8.1 deployment collection and then closes.
Now all this appears to work fine, the system is added to the collection, reboots and the deployment runs from start to finish without error.
I can also check the system resource and the variables are present.
The problem I have found is that the custom variables for this resource are not being used by the TS after reboot.. upon further investigation I found that these variables are not even being retrieved ( ran a VB script to save all the variables from the
TS to a txt file to check this )  Because of this the TS is bypassing some needed TS Tasks.
A few interesting things to note:
System appears to be added again when AD discovery is run…. So it causes a Duplicate.
Client Dose connect to SCCM server after deployment but is not receiving deployments ( is getting some policy )
Worked with SCCM 2012 but not 2012 R2
So it appears that when the system reboots from the HTA PE step it has identified itself as an unknown system again…. Even though it has been manually added…
I am interested to know if first of all if others would agree with this and second how SCCM while running a TS matches itself up to a system to retrieve the custom set variables before client install etc... Or a good place to start looking
to dig up more information!  Or anything else!
    Thanks
    Stuart.

Have you taken a look at this hotfix?

We had to apply it in order for our variables to be seen.

  • CPU consumption 100%: How do I see which SQL is consuming?

    Hi,
I need help badly with this because I cannot get my head around the problem. I have a Windows server 2003 Enterprise 64-bit running Oracle 10.2.0.3 and last night it started consuming 100% CPU. The Windows performance monitor shows 100% CPU in any case, and it was difficult to even login via remote desktop.
It is Oracle.exe that is consuming, and there is only one database on this server. It is an Opteron 875 2.2Ghz with 8GB ram.
I want to see which SQL statement is responsible for the CPU consumption. I know exactly which user/programapplication is using it... it is useless to kick the session because the application connects immediately again from the app. server and runs the same thing. Restarting the database also has the same effect: session reconnects and CPU goes through the roof. Customer says that they are running the same stuff as always, and app. has not been updated recently. 100 % CPU to them, means something is wrong.
Incidently, I tried to CPU patch this database a couple of days beforehand, but there was not enough space on disk (needed 1.6GB) so opatch complained and would not continue. I simply restarted the database without having run opatch. I cannot imagine that this is the cause of this problem.
    Anyhoo...
I have a script from Kyle Haileys web site to get the CPU for each sql_id using ash tables:
    -- (c) Kyle Hailey 2007
    col type for a10
    select * from (
    select
    ash.SQL_ID , ash.SQL_PLAN_HASH_VALUE Plan_hash, aud.name type,
    sum(decode(ash.session_state,'ON CPU',1,0)) "CPU",
    sum(decode(ash.session_state,'WAITING',1,0)) -
    sum(decode(ash.session_state,'WAITING', decode(wait_class, 'User I/O',1,0),0)) "WAIT" ,
    sum(decode(ash.session_state,'WAITING', decode(wait_class, 'User I/O',1,0),0)) "IO" ,
    sum(decode(ash.session_state,'ON CPU',1,1)) "TOTAL"
    from v$active_session_history ash,
    audit_actions aud
    where SQL_ID is not NULL
    and ash.sql_opcode=aud.action
    and ash.sample_time > sysdate - &minutes /( 60*24)
    group by sql_id, SQL_PLAN_HASH_VALUE , aud.name
    order by sum(decode(session_state,'ON CPU',1,1)) desc
    ) where rownum < 10
    This give following output:
SQL_ID PLAN_HASH TYPE CPU WAIT IO TOTAL
    cxk376gut06wn 3831248992 SELECT 12 145 5855 6012
    4ffvdt72n46yt 4094592372 SELECT 0 3 1131 1134

    abz05715h08ct 1967470119 SELECT 0 7 175 182
    4gd6b1r53yt88 0 UNKNOWN 0 92 4 96
    9phhuzxpqwsgc 2662599208 SELECT 0 67 0 67
    275bbj5czbrwp 629013258 SELECT 0 2 64 66
    1dvrrg3aah2mu 75914095 SELECT 0 6 57 63
My assumption is that this gives the average CPU usage over the last x minutes and the total cpu usage for this sql_id. There are no sql running that show a very high average CPU, but the total is up in 6000 for the longest running sql, so I get the statement for the top sql_id that has highest total, and it is this:
    SQL_ID cxk376gut06wn, child number 2
    SELECT NVL(MIN(ID),0) FROM TABLE_OBFUSCATED WHERE TASK = :B1 AND
    STATUS='JobQueue' AND MESSAGE_ID IS NULL
    Plan hash value: 3831248992
    | Id | Operation | Name | Rows | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time |
    | 0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | | | 3231 (100)| |
    | 1 | SORT AGGREGATE | | 1 | 42 | | |
    |* 2 | TABLE ACCESS FULL| TABLE_OBFUSCATED | 3 | 126 | 3231 (1)| 00:00:39 |
Predicate Information (identified by operation id):
    2 - filter(("TASK"=:B1 AND "STATUS"='JobQueue' AND "MESSAGE_ID" IS NULL))
It doesn't seem to fit! It's such a simple statement, but according to ash this is the sql using the most total cpu over the last 30 minutes?? So I create a temp index on the filter and check the plan for the statement again, and it uses the index, but I need to kill the session or bounce the database for the new plan to be used because the currently running session is still using the old plan. Customer was desperate to get it down so I even tried flushing the shared pool but new plan does not get used. I did not want to restart the database. Do I have to kill all sessions using that plan for the new one to take effect?
Now im stuck. I don't really know how else to get an accurate picture of which sql is currently consuming CPU. I need to know this to try to fix the SQL because stopping the application is not an option, even if it is throwing too much at the database. The only other option I can think of is setting up profile limits for cpu consumption in oracle, but then the job will likely take an unacceptable amount of time for the customer.
    So my questions are:
    1. How else can I check which SQL is using CPU accurately?
    2. Does the SQL I show above accuratlely display current average CPU over x minutes with ASH? Why is it so low for the top consumer but my CPU is still at 100% on the OS?
    Thankyou for your help.

Yeah, OK, I can see an arbitary number for CPU used since session startup (what does that refer to by the way? It can't be percent), and I can see that one user has consumed massive amounts of CPU compared to all other sessions, but he is currently not running anything, so how can I see which SQL he ran in the past day that cuased all that CPU consumption? Can I do this without AWR?
By the way, do you need a Diagnostic Pack license for simply viewing the Performance tab of dbconsole? I Can go into dbconsole and see history for 2 days back and see the massive espike that caused CPU consumption, but when dbconsole displays the list of top SQL and top sessions under the graph, is it the top listed SQL that consumed the most cpu or do you need to correlate the colours, i.e. find the SQL listed in top SQL that has the same colour as CPU usage on the graph (green) even if it is not listed as the top "consumer" (which I assume means top AAS consumer: overall consumption of all resources)?

  • Capacity Consumption of Process Orders Query

    Hi Forum,
The client has process orders passing from ECC to APO and the busienss user looks at the SNP Capacity planning book view to see the resource capacity load.
This was all working fine when the ECC scheduling type on the process order was either: 5: Forwards in Time, or 6 Backwards in time.
Yesterday there was a change in ECC where they starting using the scheduling type: 3 Only Capacity Requirements.
SInce thsi chnage APO has stopped recognising the capaicty consumption on the resources. The Process order still appears in APO SNP planning books, but not in the capacity book.
Is '3 Only Capacity Requirements' compatible with APO SNP?
When a process order was changed back to '5 Forwards in Time' in ECC COR2, it would instantly pass to APO and the capacity consumption would return.
Is there some SPRO config somewhere?

Sorry for the delay. I have found a user exit in ECC that controls the filtering of operations. An SAP note (367658 ) appears to suggest it is filtering out the operations when the ECC scheduling setting 3 is used.
My initial testing seems to show this user exit fixes my issue.
From the business side, we have a quite complex solution wher APO plans, ECC converts to process orders and another non SAP system does the scehduling and sends it back. Im not sure on the need for the scheduling type 3, as im not the ECC consultant involved, but im pretty sure its related to the number of lines on the resource in this non SAP scheduling tool.
Not ideal, but if the user exit works for me then i will run with it.

The instructions for creating a custom Resource Adapter in the IDM Technical Deployment 5.0 don't come close to working for me. Has anyone used these documents to create a Resource Adapter.
First off, on page 5-19 in Adapter Development, a table makes reference to a component called waveset.properties and says it's located in REF/config. I don't see any directory called config in the REF directory.
Secondly, I have a current JDK and I have set up the ws.sh file which has the WSHOME, JAVA_HOME, and PATH variables. I can't even compile the unaltered SkeletonResourceAdapter.java code successfully.. I get 100 unresolved symbols when I use the supplied command:
    javac -d . -classpath %CLASSPATH% SkeletonResourceAdapter.java
    Thanks

Yes. I did need to add a classpath. None of this documented in the Technical Deployment 5.0 docs. I also needed to download and install the IBM logging classes for the Skeleton resource to compile. I installed the log.jar in REF/lib.
    The final classpath is <path_to_REF>/REF/lib/idm.jar:<path_to_REF>/REF/lib/log.jar
The documentation instructs the reader to set up a ws.sh and add some variables to it so they can source it to prep their build environment. Seems to me adding a CLASSPATH variable and telling the Resource Adapter developer what the actual classpath is for SkeletonResourceAdapter.java would be useful.
In any event, thanks for your response. It is much appreciated.

  • Gramps 4.0.0-1 giving Resource Path error

Is it me or is anyone else getting gramps failing to run on a fully updated system with the error:
    $ pacman -Qi gramps
    Name : gramps
    Version : 4.0.0-1
    $ gramps
ResourcePath.ERROR: Resource Path /build/pkg/gramps/usr/share is invalid

I'm getting it to semi-work by using just the following command (no other mods or environment variables) to generate the resource-path file (as root):
    echo -n /usr/share > /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/gramps/gen/utils/resource-path
Note the "-n". The resource-path file cannot have any whitespace (including carriage return) after the path. By doing this, gramps will start (just "gramps" at the command line), though I first get the
No handlers could be found for logger "grampslocale"
warning, followed by a series of error panels that state things like
    2013-05-23 18:41:01.375: ERROR: grampsapp.py: line 114: Unhandled exception
    Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/gramps/gui/widgets/validatedmaskedentry.py", line 1174, in do_changed
    if self._block_changed:
AttributeError: 'Entry' object has no attribute '_block_changed'
After clicking through all those, my database is open and I can navigate as usual. However, I continue to get _block_changed errors as I move around. In addition, I will say that 4.0.0 looks very raw - the UI could use a lot of spit and polish to bring it up to the usability of 3.4.4.

  • How many people use the SQL Resource Governor?

(Timely Walking Dead joke ahead.)For those of you new DBAs, the SQL Server Resource Governor was released along with SQL Server 2008 as a feature to manage your workload and system resource consumption. With Resource Governor, you can throttle allocating resources to the CPU, Memory, and IOPs appropriately, and free up resources based on importance of the application or the user. Resource Governor also allows DBAs to limit any runaway queries and throttle I/O resources that negatively impact workloads. But of course, there are always going to be limitations to any great tool. For example, resource management is limited to the SQL Server Database Engine, andcan't be used for Analysis Services, Integration Services, and Reporting Services. And there isn't any workload monitoring or workload management between SQL Server instances.This...
