Variable depreciation portion-urgent

Dear all,
my client has asked for shift wise depreciation. For that in valuation and in determining depreciation area in the asset class, i have to fill the variable depreciation portion. But variable depreciation portion is not activated. it is in grey colour. Please tell me how to make it active. it is urgent.

Depreciation Isssue - urgent.
Our company follows Fiscal year 2009, current period is 3.
I have purchased new asset in current period 3/2009.
and I posted manual depreciation under ABMA t.code.
When I run depreciation for the same asset in AFAB with selection of planned depreciation. giving error as u can't post in specified period. Period is open.
I run in repeat run also, when I executed through repeat run , it is showing as Repeat run possible in 12 period fiscal year 2008.
After manual depreciation posted, which one has to select to run deprecaition in AFAB.

To get the list of queries in which a particular variable is used - urgent

Hi Friends,
I have a list of variables which were used in some queries, now I need to know list of queries in which the given variable is used.
for example: There is a variable called ZVBASMNT and used in some queries, I want to get the names of the queries in which it was used.
please give some short method for this, if there is any table or Tcode for this please provide, its bit urgent.

Goto Metadata Repository in RSA1.
Click on Query
Selct / Click on a Query which uses your variable ZVACITY
Click on your variable
Just observe the USED BY list.

How to replace the values in variable selection Screen urgent plz

Hi all,
I am having a requirement. where the user need pass the value in the variable, Here v r having option like '1' and '2' which represent 'month' and 'ytd'.
While selecting user view as 1,2 .Now my requirement is to replace the value 1=monthly and 2=ytd while the user passing the value to avoid the confusion.
Is it possible if so plz let me know

You please try the following steps:
1. Say the InfoObject is 0EMPLOYEE against which you have created the variable, which user is trying to select value against, when they execute the report.
2. Goto RSA1-> InfoObject tab-> Select InfoObject 0EMPLOYEE.
3. Selcet the following options:
Query Execution Filter Val. Selectn - 'Only Posted Value for Navigation'
Filter Value Repr. At Query Exec. - 'Selector Box Without Values'

Formula Variable in Bex , Urgent

Hi Experts,
                    I have created a formula variable on 0Material with replacement path as processing type. I am using this formula variable in a formula that i have created. The formula works fine.
However , when i create another formula variable on 0Prod_hier ( which has a navigational technical name 0MATERIAL__0PROD_HIER ) with replacement path as processing type, The formula which i have created doesnt work.
Ex:
1) ('MAT_FORM' == 100010001)'NET_SALES'10 , This works fine
2) ('HIER_FORM' == 10000010000001)'NET_SALES'10    . This fails.
Iam using the same formula process but with different formula variables , i cant understand why the formula is failing
I have checked the data, in the cube and the infoprovider (0Material has 0PROD_HIER data) , but i am stuck as to why the system is not recognizing the prod hier values,

Please read the following:
BEx Query Designer: Creating formula variables
You have loaded data into your InfoProvider. To be able to use sign reversal in reporting, you have to define a formula variable in the query definition:
       1.      You are in the Query Designer. Under Key Figures, use the context menu to choose New Formula. The Formula Builder opens.
       2.      Under Formula Variables, choose New Variable from the context menu. The variables wizard appears.
       3.      Enter a name and a short text for the variable. Choose Replacement Path as the processing type.
       4.      Choose your hierarchy basic characteristic.
       5.      Choose Hierarchy Attribute as the replacement. The attribute Sign Reversal is automatically displayed.
       6.      Save your formula variable. When defining the formula variable, you get the factor 1 or 1, with which you can multiply the required key figure.

Variable selection screen(urgent)

can any plz help me in this regard.

But upon refresh iam getting the same previous input values in the variable screen.
-- Upon refresh we need blank(with no previous input values) in the variable screen.

If you want blank input fields, you need to code your way out of it.
If your users can accept a "#" sign, you can set this as the default value for your variables - but it wont work, if you use those variable values to derive values for other variables before the screen is processed, because "blank" is not a valid input...

I build a SQL statement, PARSE and Execute...

I am binding ':pa01', ':pa02'
When I try to Bind variables, it throws error "ORA-01036 illegal variable name/number".

Depreciation reverse ( urgent)

If I have done the depreciation run , and now I want to reverse the depreciation of one of the assets then how can this be done?

try this out....
another requirement is u have an option to select particular asset and carry out a deprecaition run on AFABN.
under parameter for test run give the asset number under main asset number so that you will be doing deprecaition for that asset only....

Is there any way to tweak the browser/browser variables so that it prompts for User Name, Domain and password in different text boxes?

Extrashift depreciation

Please note that the Plant is operated on more than one shift and we would like to claim the Extra Shift Depreciation for category Plant & Machinery.
Kindly do the following:

This is required urgently and we need to calculate the Extra Shift Depreciation from Jan 07 onwards.

You can calculate increased depreciation due to multiple-shift operation for all types of depreciation except unit-of-production (unit-of-production depreciation is by definition 100% variable). You take this increased wear and tear on the asset into account using the following method:
Specify the variable depreciation portion as a percentage rate in the detail screen for the depreciation area. You can enter a different percentage in each depreciation area. Depending on the maintenance level you have defined, you make this entry in either the asset class or the asset master record.
Enter a multiple-shift factor in the time-dependent data in the asset master record. This shift factor is multiplied by the variable portion of ordinary depreciation.
The total depreciation amount is then calculated as follows:
Depreciation amount = fixed depreciation + (variable depreciation * shift factor)

We have a one machinery running in three shift, dep key Streight line method i.e dep 10.34% for three shift accordingly we have maintain useful life
but now that machinery is working in Two shift for next two month , how i can calculate the Dep. for two shift?
Can i change the useful life according to dep % for two shift? pl guide me

please check the SAP Help Portal for Fixed Asset Accounting. There is one chapter for multiple shift depreciation. Summarized you have a shift factor in the time-dependent area of the master record, a variable depreciation portion in the depreciation parameters, and a setting of how to impact useful life in case of shift depreciation at depreciation key level. How they go together is documented.

Hi,
Shift factor works only with the variable portion of ordinary depreciation. The variable factor is defined as depreciation area level.
"When you use depreciation with a multiple shift factor, the system
multiplies the variable depreciation portion by the multiple shift factor"
In depreciation area tab of asset master data double click on the depreciation area. You can check the variable portion can be see under "Additional Specifications" tab. If the value is 0 then the shift factor will not work.

Shift Depreciation for assets

I want to charge depreciation as follows:
Depreciation Rate: 4.75% for 180 days, 7.42% for 90 days and 10.34% for remaining 95days.
I have created 3 different depreciation key for above three rates. But its not working

The following steps are needed to maintain multiple shift depreciation:
1.The variable depreciation portion as a percentage rate is to be maintained in the detail screen of the depreciation area. Variable proportion is calculated out of the system as follows:
(Difference between two dep rates as per shift wise X100)/ lower dep rate. eg. (7.42-4.75)*100/4.75 = 56.21
For each shift you can define period intervals.
In time dependent tab, for Single Shift
shift factor - 1
variable portion = 56.21052632
for double shift
shift factor - 2
variable portion - 56.21052632
for thiple shift
shift factor - 3
variable portion - 58.84.
2. The multiple shift factor is to be maintained in the time dependent data in the asset master record. This shift factor is multiplied by the variable portion of ordinary depreciation.
Once you have done the above the SAP system calculates the total depreciation amount as follows:
Depreciation amount = Fixed depreciation + (variable depreciation * shift factor)

Changing useful life of an asset

Hi All,
Client wants to change the asset's useful life from 4 years to 3 years. Also previous depreciations should not get affected due to this. The new recalculated value of the asset should be spread over the remaining useful life and depreciation amount should also be recalculated accordingly. Do we have such functionality in SAP version ECC4.6?? or we need to post the depreciation manually going forward?? I have tried smoothing method but this is also not helping me out.
Please advice if we can do something in it.

Sorry but this functionality is only available as of release 6.0 if you have the
new depreciation engine activated. Note 965032 will provide you more details. In
particular section 4. c) Managing time-dependent depreciation parameters:
With the new depreciation calculation, you now have the option to
change depreciation terms during the fiscal year. This means that
the changed parameters are included in the calculation always
from the period for which the period is also valid.
The following depreciation terms can be maintained   time-dependently on the   fixed asset:
- Depreciation Keys
- Useful life
- scrap value/scrap value percentage rate
- variable depreciation portion
