Variable entry in Web application designer

Hi,
In the Variable entry screen in the Web app designer on executing a template, when I open the drop down menu for possible values, it leads to two more new variable entry screens wherein the selected values are populated instead of the original entry screen. This repeats for every additional variable entry selection, including the from and to selections. Any idea how this can be fixed? We are on SP7.

I solved this by changing the configuration in the WAD by changing the open dialogues in new window to 'do not open window'.

Forcing Variable Entry with Web Application Designer Bookmark

Hello All,
We have users that are creating bookmarks in a Web Application report. They want to change their dates every time they open the bookmark, but the variable entry screen is not showing up even with the "Force Variable Entry Screen" option checked. Is this how a bookmark is suppossed to funciton or is there anyway to make the variable entry screen appeear with a saved bookmark.
***the purpose of the bookmark is for users to save the format of the report as they see fit

when you save yorru personalization, you dont save it to internet explorer favourites. its a different code to save personilization.

Variable Screen in Web Application Designer (disappers after execute click)

Hi,
I have a Bex query in WAD, one of the variables is set to mandatory in Bex Query. i have also checked the "Force Variable Screen Display" option in web template. Initially when i call this Web template URL the varible screen is displayed and if i do not enter any value for the mandatory variable i get an error message till here everything works fine.
But when i provide the variable values and click on execute the variable screen disappears and never comes back again, how can fix this variable screen, so that it should be always visible even if i navigate between pages. I have WAD 3.5.

Variable in Web application designer

I created a template in WAD (Web Application Designer) and inserted table which is connected to Query. Given Query consists variable also. However WAD generating report without any variables.
Also, if anybody has stepwise document for WAD.

1. Check if your variable is input-ready (if it's not - it shouldn't appear on variable screen). If yes - pls.follow
2. Try to set parameter Reset variable values - On (WAD-> your Template --> Web template parameters --> Behavior)

Error in Web application designer in BI7.0

Hi,
If we try to create the template and save, it is showing the following error.
JAVA COMMUNICATION ERROR RFC_DESTINATION IS NOT CONFIGURED.
we tried some RFC connections in the backend . It is showing BI metadata for BSM is outdated. I checked the necessary settings according to note :888687.
But we are able to check the RFC connection between ABAP and portal.
But we are getting the same error. While saving the template which created. it showing the error and i am not able to save the template
Please help in this issue..

Meanwhile chk Trans: SM59 for RFC connection
IN Visual Admin check the JCo RFC Provider is properly configured with backend username.
Chk all the JCo related to BI are working properly either with SSO or User mapping
Chk in Table RSPOR_T_PORTAL the portal URL is proper or not
(transaction code SM30).
2. Enter RSPOR_T_PORTAL as the table.
3. Choose Maintain.
4. Choose New Entries to create a new entry.
5. Maintain the connected portal:
RFC destination: <RFC_DESTINATION>
System name: <SYSTEMALIAS>
Default: <DEFAULT>
Portal URL prefix: <PORTAL_URL_PREFIX>, for example, http://<portalserver><domain>:<port>
Prefix of RM for BW Metadata: <KM_RM_METADATA_PREFIX>, for example, /bw_metadata
KM service URL: <blank>
Referesh the MetaData Service in BI Web Application Designer under settings try to connect you SAPRFC.ini file set enviroment variables for the same.

How to create a date range in Web Application Designer

I am using 3.1 version of Web App Designer. I need to create a report with date ranges. I can get one date to work but not two (I need a start date and end Date). My Query has 0CALMONTH with a variable for Interval. When I select it as a dropdown (??) in Web App Designer, I only get one date prompt in web app designer.
Any suggestions??

Print PDF file with the lay out created in the BEx web application designer

Got the following questions (problems) when print a web report created in BEx Web Application Designer to a PDF file:
1. The tile (which has a company logo and report name in it) was not printed, is it possible to print a title (with company logo) on each page of the PDF file?
2. Want print the filters that have value specified on the PDF file, is it possible to do this?

Hi Simon,
you can achieve this requirement i.e. using this way of implementation:
1. Create a new template which contains the required fields (company logo etc) and set the visibility of the top container to "hidden". Add a empty data provider to this template and add the filter values (variable names) you want to display on the PDF. However be aware that the name for the (empty) data provider must match the name of the data provider within the original template you want to print.
2. Open your original template and include the template you created in step 1 (Advanced: Web Templates). Choose the appropriate location (above/below the analysis item.
3. Check the settings of your export command: do not set a special web item to be printed.
If you export the template within web the second template should be printed correctly.

How to suppress Result rows in a Query in Web Application Designer

I am trying to post a query in Web Application Designer. I am able to run the query in WAD but the Results rows appear. I choose Suppress Result Rows always in All Characteristics option in the query in BEx Explorer but still i see result rows in the WAD. Can anyone please let me know how to suppress Result rows so that they dont appear in Web Application Designer.

To get the enhanced menu-
1. Open the template in WAD.
2. Go to Web Item properties.
3. Go to Entries in Context Menu.
4. Find the "Enhanced Menu" property. Set it to "display" if you want it to be visible in template result.
5. Next time when you execute your template you will be able to access it by right clicking.
or
If you just want to supress results without adding enhanced menu in the context menu, simply set "Calculate result as" to "No Display".

Dynamic image display (based on variable attribute) in Web application?

Hi experts,
I am using a Web Template (from the Web application designer) based on a BEx Query.
This web template displays a logo (jpg image) and the report.
Is there a way to add another image to my web app and having the right logo displayed depending on a characteristic (sales organization for example) chosen in the variable screen (before the first rendering)?

Andrey's tutorial helped me to catch the sales org variable value in a variable named salesorg (Script Item in the web template as well as Data Provider Info Item).
Now could you explain how/where to use this variable to swith images? Is this still in the same Script_item where i should be able to "hide" / "show" the following XHTML tag?:

Unable to open WAD (Web Application Designer) 3.x

Hi experts
In my computer I don´t open WAD (SAP BW 3.x)
i make click start-> programs -> Business Explorer-> Business Explorer(SAP BW 3.x)-> Web Application Designer(SAP BW 3.x)
appears following error:
This application requires Internet Explorer 5 or higher
but I have installed the Internet Explorer 8 version
then I do not understand because can´t run the WAD 3.x

Please run the installation check as per note 1229206 and attach the result to the message.This is typically a front end installation issue May be dhtmled.ocx is not registered on this PC This is a typical front end issue where you have to look at your GUI patch and front end patch.I recommend you deinstalling your frontend installation as follows:
- Remove your frontend via 'START' - 'PROGRAMS' - 'SAP FRONTEND' -
   'REMOVE SAP FRONTEND'
- Install the newest frontend and GUI patch and check the installation
   again with sapbexc.xla
Please run the front-end checktool SAPBEXC.XLA as per Note 197460 and
ensure there are no errors.

How to maintain Master Data through Web Application Designer layout.

I’m Internship and I have to do something that it doesn’t work.
I explain to you.
I have to make a layout via Web Application Designer to permit users to add a line in the master data XST_RFC.
For that, I did two things:

The result; I have a problem with the appendix of method execute “DATA : ZL_WORKTEXT Type ZFREETEXT”. Here, SAP doen’t permit me to put XST_RFC (my characteristic to add by the user) but just /BIC/PXST_RFC… So, I tried with that and at the moment of the test in the Wad, the application say me “no Master Data in XST_RFC”. I know that there are no MD in my char, I just want to add once…
So it doesn’t Work.
Secondly, after testing, the Function Module test works. When a put an ID in the test page of SAP Logon in parameters, the FM put this ID and create a new line with this new ID. So I had an idea, use directly this function module in a Fox Formula but, when a call my function, I have a problem with variable/parameters type.
My variable is TYPE XST_RFC , but my parameters is TYPE /BIC/PXST_RFC….
My Fox Formula
DATA NEW_RFC TYPE XST_RFC.
NEW_RFC = VARV(XVOU_RFC).
CALL FUNCTION ZBWDSST_XX_MASTERDATAMAINTAIN
EXPORTING
VAR_RFC = NEW_RFC.
My error message Types of parameter VAR_RFC () and variable NEW_RFC(C) are inconsistent
If you can help me, I work on this issue for 4 days and I waste my time.

Dear All,
The text flow for 0WS_QUEST & 0WS_QSTNNR is sufficient to make available Criteria from source system questionnaire in BW.
After the text load (even it does not generate SID) we can already use Tcode SRM_VE_GROUPING & SRM_VE_WEIGHTING for customization of groupping and weighting in BW.

RSBOLAP 018 Java system error in BEx Web Application Designer

Hello,
while doing inside BEX Web Application Designer "validation of webtemplate" with
command "validate on server" I get following error message of WAD :
" Message RSBOLAP 018 description : Java system error : an Unknow Error occured during portal communication"
My procedure till now was ( please see results as screenshots in attachment) :
a) ckecking prerequisites for "Java template installer'" --> result "prerequisites.jng"
b) running "Java template installer" -> " result templateInstaller.jpg"
c) running Bex Web Application Designer as mentioned above results in error
message as mentioned above
d) running Diagnostic & Support Desktop Tool --> "result Diagnostic support desktop tool.jpg"
It says that something is wrong with "BI Mastersystem" because of failed connect to
message server.
Please advice me what I should do.

It is obvious that the connection between the ABAP and the Java is not working.
There should be a JCo RFC from the portal side to the ABAP stack set up and an RFC from the ABAP stack to the portal.
Check the entries of the table RSPOR_T_PORTAL
The RFC specified here should be the one mentioned above (ABAP - Java)
Check the name of the system should be SAP_BW
Is the parameter icm/host_name_full set on the ABAP stack with the domain name ?
Connect to the BI portal:
http://FQDN:5NN00/irj/portal
Navigate to system administration -> system configuration -> system landscape -> expand "portal content" -> systemlandscape -> SAP_BW
Right click on SAP_BW - Open - Object
Here you need to maintain these:
ITS Description - BW ABAP Logical System Name - Tx SCC4 or BD54
ITS Host Name - FQDN_OF_BW_ABAP:port - You can use the value of icm/host_name_full parameter and retrieve port number from Tx SMICM - Services
ITS Path - /sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui
ITS Protocol - Select http
Logical System Name - BW ABAP Logical System Name - Tx SCC4 or BD54
Logon Method -SAPLOGONTICKET
Message server - BW ABAP FQDN
SAP Client - BW ABAP Client Number
SAP System ID (SID) - BW ABAP SID
Server Port - 39NN
Web AS Description - BW ABAP Logical System Name - Tx SCC4 or BD54
Web AS Host Name - FQDN_OF_BW_ABAP:port - icm/host_name_full and retrieve port number from Tx SMICM - Services
Web AS Path - /sap/bw/BEx
If everything is set properly then do a test connection.

Information Field in Web application designer

Hi BI Gurus,
I'm working on Web application designer and new to it. I want to display the value of filter variables but without the description of it. I'm able to display the value but that's coming with description of variable that i have given in query. Please Help me out its urgent.

I used following steps :
1. dragged the information field, selected edit from context menu and choosen following options:
visibility : Visible [dropdown]
Check on Display Variables
Data Binding with my data provider DP_1
Text Element type : Variable Value.
Below that there is a option of variable , i selected it and there were 3 options present : Default value, Manual Value, Listed value
But no such option as u mentioned !
Please provide assistance regarding this.

Query on WAD (Web Application Designer)

We have got request from the user on one WAD u2013 Web Application Designer Report for the extra functionality.
This WAD report contains 7 tabs, for each tab there is a separate query view has bee designed with default variable values.
While running the WAD report user will input values in the variable window for the variables (Eg: Fiscal Year, Org.Structureu2026etc), after executing the report, if the user switch to another tab in the same report, the variable values entered before execution of the report will not pass to the another tab by default because the query views have been designed in such a way that each query view will have its own default values.
Now the user is expecting the variable values entered for the first tab should be passed to other tabs as well, is it possible to pass values from one tab to another tab?
If its possible, could you guide us where (HTML code or web template parameters or any another things) exactly the required changes/modifications need to be made in WAD report?

You are right .At first i did not get you solution
but later i treid some random seletion propeties for the text web item.
I got it.
Steps:
1. Place the text element in the right panel of wad.
2. Go to properties of test element.we have two in this 1.General 2.specific.
3. In specific we have the Display General Text Elements.Checkthis Check box
4.save.
Now you can see the ouptput.
But not only last loaded date but also other details like
Last change by,created by,..refreshed date..etc
