How to use data function using characterstics variable for calculation on
how to use data function using characterstics variable for calculation on attribute as key figure
Hi Gayatri
Did you not see my answer for CASE because CASE does indeed offer the use of the BETWEEN clause, but DECODE does not. Let me give you a little synopsis of DECODE.
In its most simple form it takes 4 values and looks like this: DECODE(A, B, C, D)
This essentially means, IF A = B THEN C ELSE D
The trick to solving BETWEEN in a DECODE is to work out algoriths where A = B. Because we don't know how many values are between 00 and 99, although I could guess there were 100 we could of course have 100 parts in the DECODE but that would be awful. How about if we look at it another way and say this:
IF PART_NUMBER < 'SDK00' THEN pay_amount
ELSE IF PART_NUMBER > 'SDK99' THEN pay_AMOUNT
ELSE pay_amount + 100
This statement only had 2 hard coded values, but how to make DECODE work with less than? Easy, we use the LEAST function. The LEAST function takes 2 values and returns the one with the lowest value. So I use LEAST(PART_NUMBER, 'SDK00') then whenever the PART_NUMBER is lower than SDK00 it will be true. A similar situation exists for the opposite function GREATEST. Putting all of this together then, you can do this:
DECODE(PART_NUMBER, GREATEST(PART_NUMBER, 'SDK00'), DECODE(PART_NUMBER, LEAST(PART_NUMBER, 'SDK99'), PAY_AMOUNT * 100, PAY_AMOUNT), PAY_AMOUNT)
In English this can be read as follows:
IF the PART_NUMBER is greater than or equal to SDK00 and the PART_NUMBER is less than or equal to SDK99 THEN PAY_AMOUNT x 100 ELSE 0
Best wishes

User Exit Variable for Calculating number of days in a month
I need a query to calulate the number of days in a particular month upto the current date. For example if i give 26 Feb it should reutrn 25, if i enter 30march it should return 29 for any specific year. I have gone through some posts and understood that i need to create a formula variable (under calculated KF's) and then go to CMOD, create a project, then enancement Assignment RSAP0001 then EXIT_SAPLRSAP_001 and include a code in INCLUDE ZXRSAU01. But i have any clue of coding. Could someone give me the entire code and how to connect it to the formula variable KF in created. The technical name of the key figure is ZMDAYS. If i have made any mistakes or if there is another eaier alternative please let me know. I thankyou all for the help.
Hi Uday,
I have a few modifications in the code
Data: xdate type d,
ip_year(4) type N,
ip_month(2) type N.
Types : Begin of ty_month_days,
month(2) type N,
days(2) type N,
End of ty_month_days.
Data : it_month_days type ty_month_days occurs 0 with header line.
ip_year = 2006.
ip_month = 01.
do 12 times.
CONCATENATE ip_year ip_month '01' INTO xdate.
xdate = xdate + 33. "this date is in the next month
xdate+6(2) = '01'. "first day of next month
xdate = xdate - 1. "last day of xmonth
it_month_days-month = xdate+4(2). "number of days of xmonth.
it_month_days-days = xdate+6(2).
append it_month_days.
ip_month = ip_month + 1.
enddo.
This code stores Month and No. of days in the internal table it_month_days.
You can access this internal table for your calculations
This should help.

EC (environment Compliance ) Extraction mapping for calculations Variables
Hello BI Gurus,
Currently I am implementing EC (3.0) to SAP BI 7.3, part of this implementation after activating all the out box standard content running into a problem where not able to bring in Extraction mapping for calculations variables from EC to BI. I added the mapping values in EC side (BI Mapping info objects) but we dont know where this values flows into BW side. Can tell me in which data source will this mapping comes in? or do i need to add it manually or activate ? if i need to do then how can we activate??
I went thorugh the SAP Implementaiton guide but i am not able to find any answers for my questions or sample methods on how we can do the mapping.
Any inputs or document will be highly apperciated. Looking forward for your response.
KaliHello Experts,
I am looking forward for response.. We are in very tight schedule to finish the project.

Using Value in a Text Entry Box for Calculation in a Variable
I have a project where I ask the user to fill in their name in one entry box and their two-digit age in another text entry box. Later in the project, I want to ask them to think back to when they were 6 years old and how they would describe themselves at that time. (the project is on self-awareness). To make this as personable as possible, I thought it would be neat to say. "(Name Variable), think back to about (Years Since 6)years ago, when you were just about 6 years old". I am having trouble getting the "Years Since 6" variable to work, and would like to know if it is possible.
I have set up the text entry box variable as "v_age"
I have set up a variable as "v_age6" with a value of "6"
I have set up the result variable as "v_result_age6"
I have set up a standard action with a mathematical expression that reads "v_result_age6 = v_age - v_age6"
The variable output does not show on the stage in project preview mode, and I think it's because there is only one variable with an assigned value in the equation. The "v_age" variable does not have an assigned value because that is a text entry box.
Is it possible to use a value typed in from a user as a variable to do math with?
Thanks.Welcome to the forum,
Each TEB has an associated variable, its generic name is the same as the TEB. But you'd better link your variable with the more significant name to the TEB. Have a look at this real old blog post, still valid (although maybe the screenshots are bit out of date):
http://blog.lilybiri.com/timesaving-tip-create-associated-variable-for
BTW: you didn't need to create an extra variable for the number 6. This action would have done as well:
Expression v_resultage6 = v_age - 6
How do you trigger the action, by which event?

Currency translation problem for calculated key figure
Hi All
I have a problem with the currency translation for a calculated key figure.
I have a requirement to show the MM consignment stock value in the specified currency from the selection screen.
For consignment stock, there is no value maintained in the system. So for this we need to calculate the value as below
Restricted key figure: RKFConsignment stock: Total stock with special stock indicator restriction "K"
Calculated keyfigure: Consignment stock value = Nodim( RKFConsignment stock) * (Standard cost / price unit).
Here, in the calculated keyfigure properties --> I have used a currency translation for the 0CALMONTH.
The query has selection on the 0calmonth.
But in the result the I am getting unexpected results.
Do we have any inconsistencies in the currency translation on the formulas?
Please help me on this.
Regards
S.RHi All
I have noticed something. I changed my query date selection to Calendar day - Keydate instead of calendar month.
And I have changed the currency variable to fixed exchange rate "CHF", it is working fine.
I think I have some problem with the currency translation variable.
Could anyone of you please send me the currency translation variable for Calendar month with the below parameters
exch rate type : M
Time reference : 0CALMONTH
End of month
Target currency for a variable : < var created on 0currency>
For my report, i need calendar month selection, currency selection.
Please help me with your ideas.

Currency Translation for Calculated Key figures
Hello Friends I want to use the Currency Translation for Calculated Key figures.
But when I go to Query and go to conversion tab it is always greyed out. Does that mean we can set the fixed conversion type for calculated key figures. like ZSAD Total debit - credit -flow value.
What is the way to do fixed currency translation in query for calculated key figures.
All the below is done now just want to specify this in query but I can'nt since it is greyed out.
All the below is done
I have created a Currency Translation Type " FiscperConversion" "ZVHGR" now this has Exchange Rate Type from Variable "ZVARN" (Which is a variable single value manual input on 0RTYPE Infoobject for exchange rate.)
2. Now Currency Tab: Target Currency is selected from Variable placed in the Report. ZRPVAR.
3. Now the Variable Time Reference is used. Standard Infoobject 0FISCPER
which is beginning of period.Hi soniya
Your calculated KF is result of some calculation ...so system will not allow u to do any translation on it...to get CT on CKF you should do it on base key figure...still if you wish to do then you can create a formula variable having processing type a customer exit...write code in cmod to rad exchange rate and multiply ur CKF by this formula variable....
Thanks

Selection variable for next month in RFPERIOD_OPEN in closing cockpit
Hi,
we would like to use RFPERIOD_OPEN in the closing cockpit in order to open the next period on D-10 automatically. I would like to use the selection variables of the closing cockpit in the program variant in order to avoid unnecessary variant maintenance every month.
Unfortunately I cannot find a variable for the next month. There is only SAP_FAST_CLOSE_PERIOD_P. Do you know if it is possible to base a calculation logic to derive the next period from SAP_FAST_CLOSE_PERIOD_P.
Thanks!
Kind regards,
MariyaThanks! I checked it, but the appearance of months and order is okay in T247.
Any other ideas?
I thought I read somewhere that this is a bug but can´t remember where I found that bug hint. -
Variable for calender month in BEX Query
Hi all ,
I am new to BI .
Can any one please guide on how to create a month year variable that I can get calculated from a date..
For Example
if billing date is 01.02.2009 then my variable should have 02.2009 in Query .
Regards,
ShashankHi Shashank,
You can achieve this by creating a customer exit variable for calendar month.
Function module :
READ TABLE i_t_var_range WITH KEY vnam = 'Date variable name ' INTO loc_var_range.
IF sy-subrc = 0.
year = loc_var_range-low(4).
month = loc_var_range-low+4(2).
CLEAR l_s_range.
l_s_range-sign = 'I'.
l_s_range-opt = 'EQ'.
CONCATENATE year month INTO l_s_range-low.
APPEND l_s_range TO e_t_range.
ENDIF.
Hope this will help you. Let me know if you have any questions.

Using variables for function arguments AS2
Hello,
I am trying to create a function in AS2.
After creating the function, I want to use values stored in variables for the function arguments rather than manually typing static values for carrying out the function calculation. Also, I want to use the function to assign a new value to the existing variable.
I have asked a similar question 2 days ago here and got the answer (thank you), but now I got one more question - How can I create the function to assign a value to the variable while that variable itself is also a function argument?
For example, I have 6 numeric variables:
var CoinA:Number = 10;
var CoinB:Number = 20;
var CoinC:Number;
var CoinD:Number = 30;
var CoinE:Number = 40;
var CoinF:Number;
Then I tried to create a function to assign values to variables CoinC and CoinF:
function CalculationA(FirstCoin, SecondCoin, ThirdCoin):Void {
FirstCoin = SecondCoin + ThirdCoin;
CalculationA(CoinC, CoinA, CoinB);
CalculationA(CoinF, CoinE, CoinF);
The above code didn't really assign the values 30 and 70 to the variables CoinC and CoinF but instead, values of CoinC and CoinF are undefined.
Please give me the correct code if there's a correct way of doing this.
Thank you,Here is one way of doing it, by passing a string value of the variable name instead of the actual variable name....
var CoinA:Number = 10;
var CoinB:Number = 20;
var CoinC:Number;
var CoinD:Number = 30;
var CoinE:Number = 40;
var CoinF:Number;
function CalculationA(FirstCoin, SecondCoin, ThirdCoin):Void {
this[FirstCoin] = SecondCoin + ThirdCoin;
CalculationA("CoinC", CoinA, CoinB);
CalculationA("CoinF", CoinD, CoinE);
(Note that in your second function call I changed the coins since CoinF (ThirdCoin) is undefined at that point.) -

Urgent!!Variable for days not displaying properly!!!
Hi
When executing the Query,Variable for displaying Aging in days are not displaying between the selection.Pls any one help with regard to it.Pls tell wht r the main thing to be taken to consideration for this issue.
ThanksHi
We have 2 formula var.
<b>Current Cal day</b> which is based on SAP exit ,single val ,mandatory & dimension is date
Another Formula var--<b>PR Info date</b> based on Replacemtn path ,replace with infoobject ,key,Interval value from,offset 0 to 8,single val ,optional & dimention tab as date.
So calculating Ageing as <b>Var Current Cal day</b> Minus <b> VarPR Info date</b>
Then u have condition for Ageing Selection, with above calculating ageing -
operator between, another var as AGING Frm & aging TO which is form var by manual input ,interval is From val & Offset start & length as 0 & 0, single val & optional..
These r the selction made for the variables.
Pls if u can get idea,tell where the problem is??????????URGENT
ASAP...When I select range, Calculate COlumn for Ageing ..........displays all different days values not as per the selection range. -
Formula variable for date in report
Hi All,
I have to display the last date value of a particular date in the report.
For a better understanding,
I have Customer, Equipment, Service date, Amount
In the report, I have to display
Customer, Equipment, Last Service date, Last Service Amount.
I have created a formula variable (Formula variable for Service date) for Service date with Replacement path.
Replace Variable with Infoobject, Replace with Key, Dimension dates.
And in Key figures, I have created a formula (Last Service date) with Last value in the Aggregation using the "Formula variable for Service date".
The Last Service date is displayed as 'X' in the report since the Service date is not in the row. I cannot have the service date in the row either (not even by hiding the display).
Kindly tell me how to rectify this problem.
Thanks and Regards
Adhira Anand.The X is appearing because, with the drill downs you have added, you have more than 1 date value to choose from when you attempt to aggregate.
Have you tried using APD instead of exception aggregation?
Have you built the exception aggregation calculated key figure globally or just locally (i.e. as a structure element)? It must be built globally to work properly. -
How to create Variables for the Key Figures
Hi All,
How to create Variables for the Key Figures
Thanks
BhaskarHi,
It is not possible to create the variables on Key figures directly. But we can create a formula variable with processing type 'User Entry' ,SO that the user entered value can be used in the calculations of the query.

How to Pick fields for calculations in forms?
I have all the fields in place, with all apparent formatting required for each. Using Properties > Calculate > Pick, Adobe will show me the list of all of my fields, but will not let me populate them in the Pick field individually. I can Select All and Deselect All, but choosing individual fields is totally hit or miss (~95% miss), with no apparent reason. I've been able to select fields that are not formulated as numbers, but cannot select those that are. I was able to select QtyRow9 and UnitPriceRow10 for TotalPriceRow1, but nothing else. I can even change the quantity and unit price in Preview and it calculates correctly. However, there are over 50 more calculations in this form.
My manager was able to open my file and Pick fields on the Calculate tab. After he saved the file and sent it back to me, I still cannot Pick as I would like to. I have Adobe 10.1.1 Standard, while he has Adobe 9.1.2 Standard (he was able to open my file with no problem). We both used Tools > Forms > Edit, although his buttons are located differently than mine. Any ideas what I might be missing?Pravender --> Yes fields are available when testing datasource in RSA3, but replication does not bring anything new (no selection possible on those fields)
MD --> Ok for the fields not allowed, but here is the need on my side. Maybe somebody knows a workaround to get this selection available ? (or another way to perform it)
I can see in the 4th tab (name is "update") in infopackage screen (BW), a frame named "time-dependant data", and here i have a possibility to filter according dependance period, but only 3 possibility :
- fixed time interval
- routine time interval
- variable for interval
but none of the three allows me to do what I want ...
