Variable in the planning level

Hi,
One variable X is assigned to Y characterstic in the Selection tab of planning level.
I want see the properties of X variable, i want to see the defination part of X varaible.
where can i find the x variable?
It would be great help for me.
will assign the points.
thanks
BPS

Hi Maynak,
Thanks for ur quick reply.
I assigned the points.
So my question is : if i want the see vairable properties do i need to change the planning area to change mode?
Is it any other way without changeing the planning area to change mode to find out the variable dfination part.
Please help me in regards.
thanks

  • Hierarchy node variable in BPS planning level

    Hi gurus,
I have a set of planning levels and packages that are meant for all users. The users currently are segregated by 0costcenter hierarchy nodes, i.e. groups of users are belonging to different nodes within the 0costcenter hierarchy. These group of users each have its respective authorisation profile assigned based on hierarchy node.
The planning levels and packages are configured so that 0costcenter is one of the header characteristics in the layout.
Is there a way for the characteristic 0costcenter in the planning level and packages to derive the cost centers from the authorisation profiles ?
    Advice appreciated.
    Thanks.

You may consider any of the following:
    1. BPS variables with authorization replacement type.
    2. BPS variables with user defined values replacement type.

  • BPS-dynamic columns-single value in the planning level.

Hello, we would like to use a compound characteristic in dynamic colums.
Based on test and documentation we already know that we can use compound characteristics in dynamic columns only if the higher-level characteristic is restricted to a single value in the planning level.
If we use a variable restricted to a singel value per user it does not work. Does it mean in general that a varibel cannot be used in that case and that we have to create about 30 planning packages with a fixed value for the higher level charactersictic?
    Thanks for help.

This is solved now with support package 12

  • What is the significance of having a compound master data in the planning levels?

In "SAP2" model there is PERPRODCUST as a planning level.
This planning level has PERIOD, PRODUCT, CUSTOMER and PRODUCT-CUSTOMER master data as part of the planning level.
Wouldn't PERIOD, PRODUCT, CUSTOMER be sufficient? Why is the compound master data required to be added to this planning level.
Could someone clarify this for me.
    Thank you.

    I'll attempt:
It depends on if you want to surface the result/value of the compound master data type on the key figures in your planning level.  If you do then you'll need to include it in the planning level.
If the question is why would I want a compound master data type, then my attempt at that answer is as follows:
From my understanding, the idea of a compound key figure is that you are able to derive an attribute or attributes that are related to, in this case, two master data types - all without having to 'store' that attribute on the transactional record.
    Here is a simplistic example:
Master data on PRODUCT (where PRODID is the key)
    PRODID,PRODDESCR,PRODSIZE
    P1,Widget A,Big
    P2,Widget B,Big
    P3,Widget C,Small
    P4,Widget D,Small
Master data on CUSTOMER (where CUSTID is the key)
    CUSTID,CUSTDESCR,CUSTREGION
    C1,Store A,West
    C2,Store B,West
    C3,Store C,East
    C4,Store D,East
Master data on compound MDT PRODUCT-CUSTOMER (where PRODID and CUSTID are the key)
    PRODID,CUSTID,SALESREGION
    P1,C1,BIG_WEST
    P1,C2,BIG_WEST
    P1,C3,BIG_EAST
    P1,C4,BIG_EAST
    P2,C1,BIG_WEST
    P2,C2,BIG_WEST
    P2,C3,BIG_EAST
    P2,C4,BIG_EAST
    P3,C1,SMALL_WEST
    P3,C2,SMALL_WEST
    P3,C3,SMALL_EAST
    P3,C4,SMALL_EAST
    P4,C1,SMALL_WEST
    P4,C2,SMALL_WEST
    P4,C3,SMALL_EAST
    P4,C4,SMALL_EAST
Finally you have some transactional data for the Key Figure on the planning level (ex: Sales)
    PRODID,CUSTID,SALES
    P1,C1,10
    P3,C4,15
    P4,C3,30
    P1,C3,20
    P2,C2,15
*Note that you don't need to 'store' the sales region attribute on the record
Then on your report, you can pick the SALESREGION and get your aggregated values:
    SALESREGION,SALES
    BIG_WEST,25
    BIG_EAST,20
    SMALL_WEST,0
    SMALL_EAST,45

  • Using attribute variables in the planning folders

    Hi all,
Is there way to use attribute variables in the planning folders?
There is a following situation. We have a number of cost centers (0COSTCENTER). Cost center has responsible person (0RESP_PERS) as attribute.
We planning some costs for cost center.
To select certain cost center to cost planning we created
variable ZVAR1 as type CHAR and placed this variable in the header of planning folder.
Now we have to restrict list of cost center for selection according to selected responsible person.
Of course, I can add 0RESP_PERS to my cube, create variable ZVAR2 as type CHAR based on this character. Then place this variable to folder. For variable ZVAR1 use type of replacement as "User Exit" and ABAP routine will restrict list of available cost centers based on value of ZVAR2.
But... Is there way to use variable with type of attribute and place this variable to header of folder?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Dmitry,
Yes, you can use the attribute variable in your folder.
Just create attribute variable with 0COSTCENTER as the basic char and 0RESP_PERS as attribute.then when you create your folder with UPSPM, make sure to choose notweb-enable type then under the variable category you will see the the attribute vairable you just created at BPS0, just drug it to you folder, you are done.

  • Selecting the Planning Level for Statistical Forecast in S&OP on HANA

    Hello together,
we currently face an issue regarding the statistical forecast in S&OP on HANA:
The customer wants to implement an S&OP process containing the two steps statistical forecast (automatically calculated) and sales forecast (manually determined). The planning level of the statistical forecast should be higher than the planning level of the sales forecast, i.e. the statistical forecast is calculated on a higher planning level and then disaggregated to be an input for the manually determined sales forecast.
Since it doesn't seem to be possible to disaggregate any key figure below its base planning level we need to have the lower sales planning level as base planning level in all key figures, including the input and output key figures of the statistical forecast.
When running a statistical forecast with a defined forecasting profile, the planning level used for the forecast seems to be the base planning level of the input/output key figures defined in the forecasting profile.
However, we need to define a higher planning level for the statistical forecast in order to have a better data base for recognizing trends and sesonality. In APO DP it is possible to define the planning level for the forecast when running/scheduling the forecasting job. Is this also possible in S&OP on HANA? Can we define the planning level for the forecast in the forecasting profile or when running the forecast from the Excel AddIn? I tried to use the field "Filter" in the forecasting profile as it listed all the planning levels (as well as a lot of other things, we don't know where they come from), but the forecast was still carried out on the base planning level.
Do you have any other idea where to define the forecasting planning level that is different from the base planning level of the input/output key figures?
    Thank you in advance,
    Jonathan

    Hi Bert,
thank you for your fast answer. I checked the forum again and found this post:
    Question about Statistical Forecast
However, I don't really get how the disaggregation is meant to work; the suggestion seems to be to calculate a forecast on an aggregated level, i.e. with input and output key figure with an aggregated base planning level, and then disaggregate it "somehow".
Do you have any idea how this disaggregation might work and what other steps I have to consider?
It seems as if I'd have to define a whole bunch of new key figures and have more than one output key figure but no input key figure for the statistical forecast, which doesn't make sense in my eyes.
Actually I was looking for a solution where I can define my forecasting profile with both input and output key figure on the lower planning level and then insert the level I want the forecast to be done at either in the profile as well, or even more flexible when running or scheduling a forecast. Defining more key figures any time I need another forecasting level does not appear very comfortable. Is it meant to be like that or is there another way to reach the goal mentioned above?
    Cheers,
    Jonathan
Edit: The mentioned thread contains some valuable information on how to disaggregate key figures. However, the really tricky decision is how to define the disaggregation ratio.

  • ASAP :: Variables used in planning Level

    Dear All ,
I m using variable for each characteristics in Planning Level. This level further is used for Web Interface. Would like to know if in this case if i use Planning variable's in Level  ,, will it  affect in performance ????????????
    Regards
    Anup Singh

    HI
It will not effect in Performance much. It is advisable to use variables only. (There are so many other advantages using variables). It is not advicable to fix the values for characteristics  in planning level until and unless u are confident that the value will not change. For eg: Fisc Yr Varnt , u can fix as K4 etc.

  • Urgent!!! How to give a value to a BEx variable in the planning fuction?

    Hi all,
does anybody know how can set variable's value in the palnning fuction (type exit) in IP?
The two function modules in BPS which make this job don't work in the IP.
thanks very much for any proposal.
    hongwei

    Hi,
Reg the first part of the question, can you please explain how do you want to capture the variable for the custom planning function? Because, when I look at standard functions delivered by SAP, in the FROM CHANGE and TO CHANGE(for example copy function), we can select the BI variables or create new variables also.
To pass the values to this variable from BEx Analyzer, we need to use the command range in BEx Analyzer and capture the values.
I have used this approach to capture the BEx variable values into a FOX function using VARV function, but Im not pretty sure how to pass it to a custom planning function.
Regarding the second part of the question can you pls look at FM :   RSPLSSE_PLSEQ_EXECUTE. I think you need to embedd your planning function into a sequence and call it with the above FM.
You can also have a look at the ABAP program that is used to trigger a planning sequence by placing a breakpoint in any of the planning functions : "RSPLS_PLSEQ_EXECUTE" wherein you can pass the sequence name in the variant.

  • Medium description of Variable in the planning folder

    Hi Experts,
In one of our planning folders the variable for infoobject(Cstcenter) is not put pulling the medium description in the varible section(Top part of planning folder) but same variable is pulling the medium descprion in the header of the layout (Bottom part of the llayout) with in the same folder. This problem is also for only few Costcenters, some costcenters it is pulling the data in both variable section and in the layout section
Any thoughts on this . Please share me your ideas on this. I know this is very simple but little confusing Since the same variable is dipalying the value in place but not in other place. Anybody had this problem.
    Thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply Bindu. In both the places test replacement and char test defined as "Medium". It is dipaying the medium text in both the places for only few CC's, but few CC's it is not diplaying the descrption in the varaible section..

  • Using Session Variable in the Column Level Security

    My Question -
    1. I created an initialization block with initialization string by calling a new session variable CTP_ID_LIST in the sql command, given appropriate database connections and when I exit out of Block, and chosen Row-wise initialization. I do not see a new session variable created under variables list. Why does this happen? Please help me on this.

    Hi,
This happens when you select Row-wise Initialization.
The row-wise initialization feature allows you to create session variables dynamically and set their values when a session begins. The names and values of the session variables reside in an external database that you access through a connection pool. The variables receive their values from the initialization string that you type in the Initialization Block dialog box.
You can also use the row-wise initialization feature to initialize a variable with a list of values. You can then use the SQL IN operator to test for values in a specified list.
Example: Using the table values in the previous example, you would type the following SQL statement for the initialization string:
    select 'LIST_OF_USERS', USERID
    from RW_SESSION_VARS
    where NAME='STATUS' and VALUE='FULL-TIME'
This SQL statement populates the variable LIST_OF_USERS with a list, separated by colons, of the values JOHN and JANE; for example, JOHN:JANE. You can then use this variable in a filter, as shown in the following WHERE clause:
    where TABLE.USER_NAME = valueof(NQ_SESSION.LIST_OF_USERS)
The variable LIST_OF_USERS contains a list of values, that is, one or more values. This logical WHERE clause expands into a physical IN clause, as shown in the following statement:
    where TABLE.USER_NAME in ('JOHN', 'JANE')

  • Catching an error from the component level in a plan?

I have components that installs a software package (using the LINUX rpm install plugin). These components are called in sequence from an SPS
"Plan". If any one of the rpm's to be installed by the plan might already have been installed, the rpm exits with an error message and a "1" exit code.
That exit, causes the whole install to stop dead in its tracks.
I have tried a "try and catch" to be allow the installation to continue
when that situation exists. Howvever, at the "Plan" level all I can catch is
any error. If a bad error; that is one that is not an "Exit 1" because the
rpm was already installed, but rather something that needs to stop the
entire plan ... the "catch" will ignore those errors as well.
Without modification of the SUN component install plugin, how in XML does one know what the exit code is from the install plugin
    (a) within the component that calls the install plugin
    (b) insde the plan XML that calls the component XML that calls the plugin
Are there global variables, passed return codes, inherited parameters or something that facilitates the passing of exit codes from plug-in to XML component to XML plan?

  • 2 variables for same characteristic in planning level in BPS

    Hello,
I would appreciate your help implementing this scenario: a user has access to certain versions and should be a able to copy data between 2 of those versions.
We have 4 versions on our master data: 001, 002, 003 and 004.
A certain user should be able to access versions 001, 002 and 003, and should not be able to access version 004.
So we have an authorization object applied to that user with:
      -> 0TCAACTVT EQ 03
      -> 0TCAIPROV EQ <real time infocube>
      -> 0TCAVALID CP *
      -> 0VERSION EQ 001, 002 and 003
Then, users should be able to copy data between versions.
We created 2 variables on planning area, named ZVERSOLD and ZVERSNEW, with these characteristics:
      -> Characteristic: 0VERSION
-> Replacement Type: USERVALUE User-defined values
-> Restriction of Values Required by User: enabled
-> Input Allowed by User: enabled
So this particular user should only see those 3 versions when pressing F4 when filing both variables.
After that, we created the planning level with the u201Ccopyu201D planning function.
But now, on planning level, we need to restrict 0VERSION, but we have a problem because we are not able to restrict it using 2 variables (ZVERSOLD and  ZVERSNEW). Only one.
If we donu2019t use any variable, user gets an authorization error because he is not able to access to all data due to authorizations.
Does anyone have a way to avoid this issue? Should authorizations be defined in a different way? Should variables be defined in a different way?
Hopefully I exposed all required details to get help, and that my question wasnu2019t too much confused.
Again, thank you very much in advance for your support.
    Rui

    Hello,
If you restrict the VERSION with variable ZVERSNEW for target version then the function should work. But if you get any error related to reading reference data for the source version then you can create a new variable of type exit and populate it with the values selected by the user in two variables ZVERSOLD and ZVERSNEW using the two APIs :
API_SEMBPS_VARIABLE_GETDETAIL  - to get the current value of the two Variables
API_SEMBPS_VARIABLE_SET - to set the Variable Values for the Exit type variable

  • Variables from workbook are not visible in the Planning function

    Hi,
We're using a workbook with a bunch of queries in it. Every query has a lot of variables declared that are calculated based on two input ready variable that users are required to fill the first time.
Everything works as expected until the save data function is called, which in turn calls the planning function.
Here, the user exit variable try to be recalculated again. Unfortunately, this planning function loses track of the two input ready variables that were on the workbook, so the user exit variables have no values.
Can you please suggest a method so that:
    a) The user exit processing in the planning function "sees" the two input ready variables
    b) The user exit processing is not triggered in the planning function and it's taking the already calculated values
Let me know if you require further information.
    Best regards,
    George

    Hi,
the variables in the filter of the query lives in one variable container and the variables of the filter of the planning sequence live in another variable container. They do not know each other. You need to establish a relationship between them. Usually this is done via variable binding for regular variables. For exit variables the variable binding can be done as written above.
If as in your case you have variables in the filter of the query and you want to use their values in the variable of the planning sequence than you need to store the values somewhere where you can retrieve them in the exit. This can be in a e.g. in shared memory or in the session memory. To do this you need to spend an extra exit variable in the filter of the query. The exit variable reads the real values and stores it somewhere (e.g. shared memory, global parameter of a function group, a class member or something similar). Now as the variable value is stored it can be read in the implemenation of the exit variable in the filter of the planning sequence.
In total we have 3 variables:
Variable 1 contains the value which the user keys in and exists in the filter of the query.
Variable 2 reads variable 1 and stores the value. It needs to be defined in the filter of the query as well.
Variable 3 reads the stored value and needs to be defined in the filter of the planning sequence.
