Variable is not visible at variable sequence in BEX

Hi Experts,
I have created the new query with selection variables in BEX (BI 7). Now I want to change the sequence of the variable selection. But there are no variables at variable sequence in query property. Please any suggestions.
Thanks In Advance
Ravi

Dear Ravi,
while defining a variable,,
u have an option like READY FOR INPUT.
u should tick that check box..
unless and until u check that box,,..that variable will not pop up or visible in the query designer..
Hope this helps u.

  • Substitution variable is not visible at Data Prep editor-creating rule file

    Hi,
    We are working on Essbase 9.3.1, Oracle as a database source for loading the data into Essbase.
    We have create a substitution variable at "server level" to use it in rule file as a DSN for data source. But this substitution variable is not visible in the drop down of substitution variable in 'Data prep editor' while creating the rule file.
    We restarted the Essbase server also but still it is not visible in 'data prep editor'.
    Any help will appreciated on this issue.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Mohit Jain

    Cameron-
    1) yes I've tried it on 2 different clients
    2) yes I've tried it on the server
    3) I haven't tried that, but don't normally use MaxL for anything
    4) I took a 'broken' rule, saved it locally, closed and reopened and it still didn't work
    5) I normally do files on the server, but I can't even get to that point because when I get the 'Open Data File' nothing happens, no dialog box pops up, so I don't get the chance to select the location
    6) This is a production server and EAS is running as a service, so I'd have to test this one afterhours.
    Because it happens on 3 separate PC's I'd eliminate bad EAS, since only some rules do it and others don't I'd think it could be corrupt rules, but it'll happen to new rules just as fast, and they still work just fine, so if that's the case I need to figure out what is corrupting them...
    Network issues wouldn't surprise me, I get TCP/IP errors regularly saying I have to increase my net retry count, but I've tweaked with those settings tons... looks like those are really the database server is running out of memory even though I have 4GB physical 16MB Virtual memory (32 bit environment though... I do have the /3GB switch turned on)... I've had to scale my caches way back to allow certain databases to even function.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Variable description not appearing in variable screen

    Hi Experts,
    we have created a variable which is ready for input. While executing the query, the variable description is not appearing in the variable screen, instead variable technical name is only appearing in the variable screen.
    The same variable is being used in two queries. In one query, it displays the technical name and in the other query it displays the description of that variable.
    your solution would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Franks

    yeah......it is strange.  As soon as the variable screen comes up, all the variables normally shown in description rather than a technical name, unless you select "Key & text"  OR only "key" OR only "Text".
    But, in this case this particular variable is showing in technical name, the description itself is disappearing from the variable screen.
    No changes have been made to variable. The same variable displays with descriptions in other query.  so difficult to analyze.

  • BC installed BEx Variables are not visible in Query Designer

    Hello,
    I have installed SAP Exit BEx Varibales from Business Content (0P_KEYDT, 0P_KEYD2 and 0P_KEYD3)
    sucessfully.
    But when I am not able to see these variables in the Query Desginer ( Need to restirct these on Net Due Date, Posting Date).
    Please advise me on this.
    Thanks,
    Geetha

    Are you sure you have the characteristics on which these variables are defined  y SAP are in your data target?
    Pl check this out. Alsso, sometimes, if you log out and get back, it may help.

  • WS-RM sequences not visible in SOAMANAGER Sequence monitoring

    Hello
    What i need to know is why I cant see any WS-RM sequences in SOAMANAGER>Sequence Monitoring. Please note:
    - I can see the asynchronouse messages in the XML monitor (srt_tools >> Monitor for Processed XML , or SXMB_moni)
    - I can see the sequences on the receiver side ( NW CE 7.3 SP2)
    - I can see the messages if I put a payload trace on the users that triggers the call ( in srt_util)
    - I have this problem only in the production system,. In dev, quality and sandbox I can see the sequences on both sender and reciever side.
    - The systems are identical is terms of SP's.
    Any Ideas?
    Regards
    A

    Hi Adam,
    I don't know of a report that may be removing them but some other suggestions:
    - Check if you have the necessary authorizations for monitoring in production (e.g. authorization object S_BGRFC). Maybe do an authorization comparison check with what you have in Dev & Quality.
    - I actually think that you may need to up the trace/log level in production to view these sequence messages. For better performance in Production, these levels are normally set to the lowest level (errors only), see URL below for guidance:
    [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/46/ee28b0837d3c1de10000000a155369/frameset.htm]
    Do a comparison with Dev & QA for the log/trace settings there.

  • Attribute not visible in characteristic properties in BEx Web

    Hello all,
    I have a query using Contact Person as a free chararacteristic. I need to be able to drill down this characteristic and display a custom attribute next to Contact Person, using the properties of the characteristic in the context menu. The problem is that the attribute doesn't show up in the list. All other attributes (most of them are display attributes) are visible.
    If I add this diplay attribute to the query definition, the attribute comes together with Contact Person when I drill-down it. I can see the attribute checked in the list too.
    When I put Contact Person in the row in the query definition, I can also see the attribute in the properties.
    Does anybody know a solution for that?
    Thanks in advance, Natalie

    Hi Sree,
    Thanks for your help. Actually, the attribute was a display attribute, but needed to be a navigation attribute. The reason seems to be the following: this attribute has another one as reference attribute (which I could see in the list).
    I changed to nav. attribute and now it works.

  • Variable not visible.

    Hi All,
    I am trying to restrict the Variable 0PSTNG_DATE by the SAP EXIT variable Posting Key Date(0P_KEYD2), the query is of the custome infoset i created, but the variable is not visible??? its visible for the same info object in the business content query(0FIAR_C03_Q0005, Overdue analysis) is there any specific reason that the var is not visible on the query based on infoset???
    Thanks.

    Hi Shetty,
    You can check the enhancement for the 0P_KEYDT or 0P_KEYD2 for the same and copy the same..

  • How to fail the task sequence if an MDT variable is not populated?

    We are deploying Windows 7 using ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 CU3 integrated with MDT 2012 Update 1 using the MDT database locations table to populate the MachineObjectOU MDT variable.
    Currently the "Apply Network Settings" task will read the MachineObjectOU variable and add the computer account to the OU returned by the MDT database query.  If no value is returned it will not domain join the computer, instead it continues
    the task sequence and configures the machine as a workgroup machine.
    I would like the task sequence to fail if the MachineObjectOU variable is not populated by the MDT database query instead of continuing as a workgroup build.  What is the easiest way to do this?
    Thanks!
    FP

    I agree.
    I would write a script that reads the Variable and checks that it has a valid content.
    If it doesnt i would return an exitcode from my script and have the TS fail on that

  • Visibility of variables in a multithreaded application

    In a code review of our GUI application, we encountered some multithreading problems, concerning the visibility of variable values.
    In theory, write and read operations have to be synchronized or at least, volatile has to be used to provide a accurate access to the variable values from different threads.
    Although we have encountered many code sequences in our application violating the above rules, we have never seen a problem in our application.
    This forced us to write a simple test program which should discover these problems, but there was no difference using volatile or non volatile variables !!
    Our experience is, that on our platform (Intel Core2Duo/Pentium M - Linux 2.6.23 - Sun Java HotSpot 1.6.0_04), no visibility problems caused by multithread access occurs, even if the variables are neither declared as volatile nor protected by a synchronized block.
    Is there anybody out there, who has more details to this multi threading issue ?

    Pulsar7 wrote:
    But visibility of variables in multi core environments is not an issue of atomic access.No. I meant to say that you also can see other problems if you remove the syncronized/volatile access. Reading stale data isn't the only problem.
    Multi-Core architectures can have per core-registers, -caches, -controller devices interchanging the memory content in a certain way.
    It is obvious, that two thread running on different cores should run into problems. But we do not see them !?It's all implementation and hardware dependent. You can get different result when you are executing on different VMs as well as different operating systems.
    Are there some memory consistency features implemented in modern CPUs, supporting immediate register/cache/memory updates ?
    Is the behaviour depended on the OS ?See above.

  • Prestaged OSD using SCCM 2012 SP1 windows Partition variable is not being set

    Hello All  I need some assistance with a workaround.
    I am using a presaged task sequence created from a working network / PXE deployment TS for windows 7.
    This TS sets a variable for the OS partition called "Windows" and the value is set in the Partition Disk task.
    Problem is this value is not being read from a prestaged due to the OEMMedia condition skipping this partition and format task.
    Question is how do I get it to read and or set the value for that partition?
    From what I have found on Google this was an issue in beta of MDT but was fixed in RTM.  I am not using MDT TS but I do have it installed. Any idea if this is a known issue with SCCM 2012 sp1 TS?
    Edit: also noticed that the variable's case is different and will not let me change it.
    Variable under format is "windows"  variable under Apply OS is "Windows"  when I change them to be the same then close and reopen they revert back to the above.  Are these variables case sensitive?
    Edit: for now I have changed it from variable to next available partition.  I tested it twice so far it seems to be using the correct partition and it remains to be called the C drive.  For now this will be my solution.

    When you say "presaged task sequence created from a working network / PXE deployment TS" are you saying this is still a network boot process? Or have you done "Create Task Sequence Media"?
    Dustin Estes - MCP
    yes when i say prestaged that is using the create task sequence media then selecting prestaged.

  • About visibility of variables in concurrency

    Hi,
    I have a class that implements Runnable, and it has a constructor. As we know to ensure the change visibility of variables in different threads we need to use the "volatile" key word.
    So if I do not use "volatile," and contruct the object in the main thread, and then access and modify them in the run() method, could there be any problem? (after construction the run() method is the only place these variables are accessed and modified)
    Thanks!

    Not true.
    First, variables' visibility is unaffected by multithreading. Presumably you're talking about the variables' values.
    Second, volatile is not the only way. Making sure all access to those variables occurs in synchronized blocks or methods also ensure that threads see each others' updates. Or you could use the classes in java.until.concurrent.atomic. Which one is appropriate depends on your particular needs, of course.
    So if I do not use "volatile," and contruct the object in the main thread, and then access and modify them in the run() method, could there be any problem? (after construction the run() method is the only place these variables are accessed and modified)If there's a shared variable, and you don't mark it volatile or sync all access to it, then, yes, you don't know when or even if one thread will see another thread's write of that variable.
    However, it sounds like you're saying only one thread is even using these variables. If so, this is not an issue. If you're worried about a child thread seeing the values that the parent set before start()ing the child, it's not a problem. Writes that occur before starting a thread have a "happens-before" relationship with all accesses in that new thread.

  • Can't receive headers from JMS Adapter - "Variable is not initialized"???

    I'm using JDeveloper Studio 10.1.3.4.0.4270 to try to build a BPEL process that is initiated by a JMS Adapter. I want this process to access the headers of the incoming message. Despite what Adapter Technical Note #005 says, JDeveloper says I can't do it! Despite the fact that the Receive activity is set up to store the header to a variable, JDeveloper says the variable is not initialized when I try to access it. (At least this is consistent with BPEL Process Manager's behavior -- the runtime also says it's not initialized.) In the following simple code, it looks initialized to me. What am I missing? Thanks.

    Hi,
    Your code looks correct to me. However, you should name your durable subscriber: topicSession.createDurableSubscriber(topic, "myDurableSubscriber");
    Then it should be possible to use your JMS provider administration API to check that your durable subscriber is registered with your topic. Once the durable subscriber is registered it will start receiving message.
    To double check that your code is correct, you should test your code with another provide.
    Hope this helps

  • Integrated planning: changed variable does not refresh in planning function

    Hi guys,
    I am facing the following problem. I have a web template with a query and a planning function. On first request I select the variable values through the variable screen, which automatically appears.
    If a change my variables later by using the variable screen again, the query refreshes and shows the correct values.
    But when executing the planning function it still uses the old variable values I entered before during the first request of the template.
    The variable in query and planning function is the same. There are no default values. I tried making the variable mandatory, no success. The system does not use the selected value for the planning function. It keeps running on the old ones.
    Thanks for any comments and advices!
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,
    usually the variable value of a planning function has to be refreshed when updating the query. However we had a lot of trouble with just this issue in a former project. As Gregor already proposed we used the variable binding to make sure that the proper variable value is passed to the planning sequence.
    When you implement your planning sequence in WAD you can do a variable binding as follows:
    <bi:param name="VARIABLE_VALUE" type="COMPOSITE" index="1">
      <bi:param name="VARIABLE" value="Z_0FISCPER_001" text="Geschäftsperiode (Customer Exit, eingabebereit)">
        </bi:param>
           <bi:param name="VARIABLE_TYPE" type="CHOICE" value="SELECTION_BINDING_TYPE">
           <bi:param name="SELECTION_BINDING_TYPE" type="CHOICE" value="VARIABLE">
           <bi:param name="VARIABLE" value="Z_0FISCPER001" text="Geschäftsperiode (Customer Exit, eingabebereit)">
        </bi:param>
      </bi:param>
    </bi:param>
    </bi:param>
    Althoug we just did a variable binding with the same variable as source and target we did not have the problem of wrong variable values any more....
