Variable new_value doubts ( Rookie Needs Help Pls)

i am using
column global_name new_value gname
after i do the usual select stuff to bring the value into gname
what i don't understand is,
1) is the gname here
same as declaring
variable game varchar2
2) if it is, why cant i print gname;

no, it is not same
it is like defining gname. So you can "prompt &gname" but not "print gname".
if you are referring to the buggy asktom script to set the sqlprompt, do not miss my note : def gname="SQL> " to attribute a value to gname, which will be overwritten is the database is open.

It's a disgraceful failure of any customer service by BT. Had my Btinternet email account since they launched backin ... was it 1997? Everything digital in my life is spidered into the account now. Its been used as my registration point for virtually everything for the past fifteen years. And now getting less than 30 days notice to try and find every single product and website I have registered with and then change all my details?!?!? Hell, I'd need about a year to do so; and then I would still probably have missed some! By their actions, they potentially cutting me off from products that I have purchased & tied to this email address.
Add to that the fact that their email that comes into your inbox sources from some dodgy 'analytics planning' website, as all the links route through there... I had serious doubts as to its legitimacy and forwarded it to their abuse contact & opened a case regarding it. Highly unprofessional of them - especially when you consider that we are repeatedly advised by BT to never click on links unless we are sure of their validity. And should never, ever, enter our account details on any other site other than theirs.
Shoddy BT, very very shoddy. I would expect a higher standard of business from such a company. And would definitely expect a proper notification click through to come up regarding this service change when I log into email. I would say a good proportion of their users will deregard the email as a phishing attempt. **bleep** cowboy operation.

The iPad is telling you it has entered the recovery mode - you need to follow the instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 for connecting to a computer running iTunes by way of the recovery mode.

Deleted Database from OEM Page showing pending - Need help pls..

I need urgent help for this issue. Yesterday I saw a production database was not communicating on the OEM home page so I deleted it from the page restarted the agent on the server and re-added it to the OEM home page (10g OEM). It has been showing pending since yesterday and is still uploading XML files. I forced an upload of files using emctl upload agent and it is still uploading and showing pending. Is there any way I can get this PRODUCTION database to show up normal and be accessible in OEM? I need help on this soon as we need to have it available in OEM for monitoring... Also, it should still have it's history even though I deleted it from the database page. Correct?

Why does it show 0 as the number of files pending upload, but still uploading files? The number of file uploaded so far continues to increment.

You are able to access all the DB pages because the OMS makes a direct connection to the target DB to retrieve in information in these pages. The historical performance details are also queried from the AWR of the target DB and is not stored in the Grid control repository DB.
The status is however computed by the Agent monitoring this DB. If the DB status is incorrect though it is running, it means that the Agent is unable to compute the status or has incorrect monitoring configuration details for this DB. You can check this by choosing the Database and clicking on the 'Configure' button. Review whether all the database details are correct and attempt a 'test connection' in this page.

Rookie needs help

This is my first attempt at building a web site and am
obviously in way over my head. I am using Dreamweaver MX2004 and
started the site with one of the CSS templates included in the

I have is, now that I renamed the links to fit my site, how do I go
about getting those to link up with the appropriate pages? Any help

If you are referring to HALO templates, you are in deep
trouble. I don't
recommend you use them at all.
Have you tried grabbing one of the layouts from this site?

From the above thread i have hardcoded my XML file by inserting BEGIN
and Segment = "1" in each of the new segment.
Since it is a bypass scenario.. when it reach to production , the idoc -xml will come from one of the tool without having these BEGIN and SEGMENT = "1".
Still XI will receive it??
Because my doubt is i harcoded the XML file and finished my developement.
Now iam getting the doubt that once they do testing in QA server..the XI will process it and not ?
Can we able to achieve this even without BEGIN and SEGMENT = "1" ?
or
those fileds are mandatory?
Pls suggest me .. its urgent.

To post an idoc to R/3 system this fields are mandatory.

As you are just routing it...just XI will poll the file and sends data to the idoc ( as the source and target structure are same).

1. Whenever I launch a JSP page, it takes significant time and fails to render with "No back end server available for connection. Timed out after 300 seconds or idempotent set to OFF" message.
2. These JSP pages are not doing any I/O intensive activities (NO long DB read...) as well (reads a 10-15 KB file from local disk and display some simple UI)
3. WL Console shows all the THREADS as HOGGING and eventually, the log file shows them as STUCK !!
4. After some random period of time (1 hr, 2 hr or 5 hr), IF I try to launch the same JSP page, it might succeed.
5. Re-deploying the .war file/Restarting the weblogic instance, SOMETIME helps !!!
Based Google search, I have done following changes with NO LUCK.
    1. Changed JVM parameters (--Xms1024m --Xmx024m, MazPermSize=512m ) with NO LUCK
    2. Changed the Java Muxer from native I/O to Java based – NO LUCK
    3. Changed Deployment Plan to increase #BackLog request - NO LUCK
     4. Changed "Resource Reload Check" in deployment plan to -1 - NO LUCK

- Make sure you are using the latest build of WLS plugin.
- Get the WeblogicBridgeConfigInfo output and check if the connection to wls servers is OK.

New Solaris Rookie needs help.

I am new with SUN Solaris, I mean I know nothing about it (I'm HP-UX SysAdmin). My boss gave me 3 additional Sun Solaris8 to manage. 2 are in production that I will not touch for now. 1 is test and learnig box - Sun E450. I re-installed Solaris8 OS on this test box. I get stuck with how do I find out the patches to install. I went to Sun web site and the list is too many patches, can't do one at a time. Is there a patch bundle for Solaris8 and how to install it? Thanks for your help.

For example...has instructions on how to install the S9 recommended cluster.
So...what you need to do is go to sunsolve.sun.com you'll find links to get patches. You can either download single patches or patch clusters (basically a giant group of patches that fix a whole bunch of stuff).

I am new to JAVA programming and am trying to figure out my first progam. Any suggestions? Here's what I have to come up with...
This program will test your ability to code a loop function and some work with the strings methods.
INPUT
A SENTENCE OF UNKNOWN LENGTH.
OUTPUT
THE NUMBER OF WORDS IN THE SENTENCE AND EACH WORD ON A SEPARATE LINE. Two spaces are not a word; "a" is a word.
HINT
Use a loop until the end of the sentence and count each word that is removed from the front of the sentence (one at a time). Each time the sentence should be shortened.
I know I need to use a string method...Here's what I have so far...

Rookie needs help. How do I set it to play consecutively?

I am trying to create a DVD that will include multiple slideshows and movies. I would like to have it playing at a party all night. I can find the setting to loop the photos in an individual slideshow but can not figure out how I can get it to play one after the other.
Can anyone help?

Welcome to apple discussions. You may want to consider adding your photos as well as all movies to the slideshow feature within iDvd. Go into Map View and now drag and drop the entire slideshow (which also contains your movies) to the very first or top box in the tree. That pretty much makes it play one after the other. And if you want it to loop also then select the loop function too as shown below:

You'll need to select the top box and then hit the "i" button (inspector) so it brings up the dialog box to select the Loop function.

Rookie needing help on converting iMovie to iDVD

I am a rookie user of iMovie, so I apologize if this is a silly question. I have created an 18 minutes iMovie and want to now get it into iDVD so I can burn it and watch the DVD in the DVD Player. How do I go about doing this? I did Export Movie, which creates a .m4v file on my desktop. When I open this it opens in iTunes, which is not what I want. I'm sure there is something I'm missing. Can anyone help???

Multiple ways to share to iDVD.... Launch iDVD, create a new project, select a theme, and then drag-n-drop your .M4v file into the iDVD menu screen.
