Variable portion for Multi-shift-depreciation.

Hi,
I am using Multi shift depreciation for Depreciation calcualtion as per
The Indian Company Act.
Rates of depreciation are Single Shift-4.75%, Double shift-7.42%,
Triple shift-10.34%. Variable component for double shift will be 56.21
and 117.68 for triple shift.
As the variable component factor is not proportionate for double shift
and triple shift, Depreciation calculation is not correct.
Kindly advise.

please check the SAP Help Portal for Fixed Asset Accounting. There is one chapter for multiple shift depreciation. Summarized you have a shift factor in the time-dependent area of the master record, a variable depreciation portion in the depreciation parameters, and a setting of how to impact useful life in case of shift depreciation at depreciation key level. How they go together is documented.

I want to charge depreciation as follows:
Depreciation Rate: 4.75% for 180 days, 7.42% for 90 days and 10.34% for remaining 95days.
I have created 3 different depreciation key for above three rates. But its not working
For this shift factor will be used. Let me know how to do it in SAP.

The following steps are needed to maintain multiple shift depreciation:
1.The variable depreciation portion as a percentage rate is to be maintained in the detail screen of the depreciation area. Variable proportion is calculated out of the system as follows:
(Difference between two dep rates as per shift wise X100)/ lower dep rate. eg. (7.42-4.75)*100/4.75 = 56.21
For each shift you can define period intervals.
In time dependent tab, for Single Shift
shift factor - 1
variable portion = 56.21052632
for double shift
shift factor - 2
variable portion - 56.21052632
for thiple shift
shift factor - 3
variable portion - 58.84.
2. The multiple shift factor is to be maintained in the time dependent data in the asset master record. This shift factor is multiplied by the variable portion of ordinary depreciation.
Once you have done the above the SAP system calculates the total depreciation amount as follows:
Depreciation amount = Fixed depreciation + (variable depreciation * shift factor)

Cost center assessment to CO-PA using Variable portions in receiver rule

Hi Experts,
Could you please explain how to use variable portions as receiver rule. An example will be very helpful. I have got theory in help documents but could not get
through it....request for an example.
I am using fixed amounts as sender values and using variable portions as receiver rule.
In receiver tracing factor - I am using value field / key fields as say example VV075 (actual cash discount). I also mentioned record type and plan/actual indicator
in receiver tracing factor screen. I also mentioned data in receiver weighting factor screen.
Still if I execute KEU5, system says no receivers found.
I checked and found there are values for VV075 for the record type and plan / actual indicator combination selected.
Where could be the problem.
Request to explain variable portions with example.

There is no error in other segments. I already checked it...and also in KE24 there is data for the combination of value field, record type, plan/actual indicator and period selected. That is not an issue.
I feel some set up in using the variable portions is missing. This is the first time using variable portions.

Multiple shift depreciation - as per Indian Companies Act

Dear Friends,
I have problem configuring multiple shift depreciation. Facts of case are as below.
In one year
My plant runs 150 days in single shift = depreciation 4.75% for 150 days
My plant runs 100 days in double shift = depreciation 7.42% for 100 days
My plant runs 165 days in three shift = depreciation 10.34% for 165 days
How should i map this is sap. I can enter shift factor as 1,2 and 3. But how will i get depreciation rate as 7.42% for 100 days and 10.34% for 166 days.

As per my knowledge depreciation as per companys act only will depreciate as per the shift system(01 depr.area), As per Income Tax Act depreciation based on the lessthan 180 days or more than 180days in the fiscal year.
please check with your client how they are mapping in legessy system and let me know.

What is the differance between Variable POrtion & Fixed Percentage in Receiver weighting factors of COPA Assessment cyecle.
For example - i have 1 sender and 3 receivers in the segment.
In case of Fixed percentage -
Sender A =1,00,000
Receiver B = 50%
Receiver B = 30%
Receiver B = 20%
For example - i have 1 sender and 3 receivers in the segment.
In case of Variable portions -
Sender A =1,00,000
Receiver B = 50%
Receiver B = 30%
Receiver B = 20%
Is that correct? Please correct me..

Your first example for fixed percentage is correct. However for variable portion the percentage is automatically derived by the system based on the actual postings in the value fields/ key figure entered.

Variable subsitution for target file names

Hi All,
I am using variable subsitution for dynamic file names. I am using the multimapping for multiple files in the target.So i coluld not able to use the dynamic configuration for file names. Now i want to replace all the spaces in the filename to underscore.
For example
My payload filed value "file name in the target file".
Now my filename "file_name_in_the_target_file".
How to achieve this using Variable subsitution.

Print Layout Designer - Different Variable No for Different Currencies

Hi Experts,
I will need your support once again.I just noticed that the Withholding tax field on the Invoice print layout displays only when the transaction is in Local currency,while trying to trouble shoot this issue, I discovered that the Variable Number for the withholding Tax field for transactions in Local currency differ from that of USD transactions.
I need this field to display irrespective of the currency, how can I achieve this? Can I get a comon variable number for that field ?
Any info will be highly appreciated.

Hi Chike,
The answer is no. You can not change them because they hold different values. If you want to use one PLD to print both LC and FC, you have to use many formula fields to do so.

I found http://wesunsolve.net/bugid.php/id/6595253 that is a bug of mkfs without workaround. Is ZFS what I need now?

Well, to fix the bug you referred to you can apply patch 141444-01 or 141445-01.
However that bug is just regarding an irrelevant error message from mkfs, it will not fix your problem as such.
It seems to me like the minimum value for nbpi on a multi-terabyte filesystem is 1048576, hence you won't be able to create a filesystem with more inodes.
The things to try would be to either create two UFS filesystems, or go with ZFS, which is the future anyway ;-)

How do i filter the records in analytic view by using variable/parameter for a time range

i have a analytic view which has a output column as date type. i want the user who use this view have the control to decided the output records based on a time range (from x to y).
i tried to create 2 variables, 1 for start_time, 1 for end_time. Ideally, i should have a expression for filtering data like this:
$$start_time <= date_column <= $$end_time
However, the variable windows doesn't seem to be feasible for the expression as above.
Does anyone has the same problem and get it solved?

just figured out by my own. So the answer is using "variable" with "range" option.
Making a variable, then set the "selection type" to "range".
When preview the data, the variable input window pops up with operator on default "equal", use dropdown list to swtich it to "between", then you can enter the start_time and end_time as a range filter.

Variable Exit for YTD using posting period

I need to calculate the YTD amount per user entry, i.e., when user enters the posting period value as 5 the Actual value should calculate the amount for posting period 5 and Actual YTD value should calculate the amount from Period 1 - 5.
I'm getting the same amount as period 1 for YTD as well....I created a two variables for YTD , one is with single value optional with default value as 1 not ready for input and another variable as customer exit with single value. In the exit I'm reading the user entry value as my 2nd variable value. Then I'm using these two variables as range in RKF with key figure and value type.... i.e,
WHEN 'ZTEST'.

I used the range and when I use RSRT to test the query , I'm getting the exact variable values in the result example if I give the input as year = 2010 and Posting period = 3 - 6
I'm getting the variale values for input as 3-6 and variable values for Actual YTD as 1-6 but the Actual YTD value is showing the same value as Actual.
I have the cost element heirarcy as the row item. I'm not sure If we are allowed to use heirarchies in the rows when we are using the above logic for YTD? Also when I drill down by posting period I could see all the values in Actual YTD but when I removed drill down it is only showing the value for 3-6 just as Actual....Please advice
My Key figure in the RKF is a cumulated balance...Does it causes the YTD values and Actual values same?

How to set up new enviroment variables permanently for all users?

Hi.
I downloadad Apache Tomcat, and need to set enviromental variables for all users.
I tryed setenv commad, but it is not found.
for example # JAVA_HOME="/opt/jre1.6.0" Solaris remembers this variable only for one session and I need for all users permanently.

Variable Substitution for Source Directory

Hello,
I have seen several threads about using a UDF and variable substitution for dynamically determining the Target Directory.
Is anyone familiar with (or had to implement) a solution where the Source Directory is dynamically determined.
My challenge is to connect to a different Source Directory name (sy-datum format, ex: 20070920 ) each day on an ftp site and download all the files in the folder to a know target directory. I am doing a simple file-to-file transfer, so no mapping is involved.
Your comments, suggestions and feedback is greatly welcomed.

I have not found a solution for this type of event.
I was attempting this because the FTP site I was connecting to would DELETE a file the moment XI touched it. So when XI (using FTP Transfer protocol) configured with a DELETE or ARCHIVE (Processing Mode), it would error off because the file was no longer on the FTP site. I contacted the site but they refused to deactivate their script to auto-delete files. Using TEST processing mode is not recommended per SAP in a server pool environment. You would think SAP XI would provide a fourth option in which a DELETE command is not issued back to the FTP site.
The FTP site did have sub-directories in which copies of the original files were stored, but I could not figure out how to dynamically change the XI Source Directory as the current date changed.
I settled on using File NFS (Transfer Protocol) and running the FTP commands from a .bat (batch file). I put the command I run down at the bottom of the XI page with a 60 second timeout.
I still do not change to each folder dynamically because the standard FTP (GET and MGET) commands do not attempt a Delete after file retrieval.
Perhaps using a batch file is an option you may want to consider using.

Problem with variable offset for 0CALMONTH

I have a problem with using variables offset for time characteristic 0CALMONTH
Let's say my current query looks like this:

Sales ..............100..................125................200   (Keyfigure)
What I want do now is to add a previous year comparison. So that it should look this way:
...................01.2006..........02.2006..........03.2006   (0CALMONTH)
Sales ..............100..................125................200   (selected months)
LY_Sales...........50..................100................100   (selected months - 12)
(LY_Sales should show figures of 01.2005, 02.2005 and 03.2006 in this example)
I used new selection for LY_Sales with variable offset for 0CALMONTH -12 but that didn't work. Figures in second line are zero. The desired figures would show up (if I expand the selected time intervall wide enough) in 01.2005, 02.2005 and 03.2005 but that's of course not what I want.
Please help if you can!

We can get an an other way by using CELL editor caoncept.
First create teh query like this:

Though the call editor concept overwrite the second rows(selection) content with hidden columns of second row(selection) one by one .i.e first cell of 2nd row will be overwritten by 13 th cell of second column.similarly second cell of 2nd row will be overwritten by 14 th cell of second column........
First row(selection) : Cal year Charactertic with restriction 2006.
second row(selection) : Cal year Charactertic with restriction 2005.

What is the name of the DB Link and the name of the object you are selecting
from?
I find it easier to create a view on the remote object then use that in selects.
e.g,
Link Name = MyLink
Object_name = Addr_Loc
create or replace VIEW Rem_Addr_Loc AS
select * from addr_loc@mylink;
In the code I then use the view
