Variable values in navigation blok

Hi WAD Experts,
I'm trying to pass variable values to the navigation block. I have already set my variable as ''Changeable at Query Navigation'  but it's not working. The chosen values not appear.
Any ideas? I'm on a Bw 3.5 version.
Thank you.
Ste

Hi ste,
I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve.
The navigation block will display the characteristics and key figure structure from your query / view.
Why are you trying to pass the variable values to it?  Are you trying to display what the user has selected to run their report?  If so - just used the Text Elements web item and display the values there.

  • Passing variable values to the navigation block

    Hi WAD Experts,
I have a requirement regarding passing variable values to the navigation block. User requirement is first give the selections on the selection screen and then after executign output should display in browser. In the output page we have a navigation block. So when user gives selections those selections should also populate in the navigation block. Your help will be appreciated.
    Prasad.

    Hi,
if your variable is 'Changeable at Query Navigation' the chosen values will appear in the Navigationblock.
Variables which are 'Not Changeable at Query Navigation'
    will not appear.
You can set this Property when you create a Variable.

  • Changing variable values in query navigation

    Hello,
We used to use the functionality of a user exit variable for a web template query and could enter a default value for a query, like yesterday's date. This allowed the web template to be presented without a user having to enter variables in order to initially see data. Then either dropdowns or the navigation block objects could be used to navigate the query. To do this the, "Can be changed in query navigation", was set to on. In BI 7.0 this functionality has been removed. Is there a way to provide a default value to a characteristic that can still be changed during query navigation?
According to documentation this functionality has been enhanced with default values in the variables but there does not seem to be a way to enter a non-fixed value and still change it during navigation.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rick

This can be done by changing the variable to be processed with user exits and changing the user exit for variables to populate the variable value at runtime.

  • F4 Input values for variables based on Navigation Attributes

    Hi,
We would like to use the option "Q Only Posted values for navigation"  from the set F4 mode 'Query Execution Filter Val. Selectn' in the Multiprovider specific properties.
The problem is that  this option Works for Infoobject stored on the infocube, but It doesn't work for Navigation Attributes.
Question : Could you please tell us how to use the option "Q Only Posted values for navigation" with _Navigation Attributes _ ?
    Thx.

    Hi,
The input help only offers values for which you can select data in the current navigational state

  • How to use bind variable value of one VO as initial value for other VO row?

JDeveloper 10.1.3.3, ADF Faces, ADF BC
    Hi,
I have two View Objects: one read only with several bound variables and another editable entity based. Correspondingly there are two ADF Faces pages: first contains search form based on the read-only VO and second create form based on the editable VO. The search form has several hidden fields for some of bound variables because they aren't edited directly by user. These fields are updated with PPR when user selects other search criteria from LOV.
There is a command button in the first page that navigates to the second form. Is there any way to transfer values of bound variables from the first VO to the second VO as initial values of the new row?
I tried to set custom controller for the second page and retrieve search criteria values from request parameter map but values from hidden fields are missing. I think because that these fields are updated by PPR. Of course I can add custom action method to the navigation button and in the method put these values to request parameter map but I hope there is better solution.
    Thanks,
    Marius

To summarize, given a bind variable value for one VO, on creating a row in a second VO, for 1 of the attributes of the second VO, you want to use the first VO's bind variable value. Correct?
A potential solution ADF BC driven:
    1) Ensure you have an AppModuleImpl for your AM
    2) Ensure you have a ViewImpl for your 1st VO (where the bind variable will exist) - lets refer to that VO as "Alpha"
    3) Ensure you have a ViewRowImpl for your 2nd VO (the one you want to default the value in) - lets refer to that VO as "Beta"
    4) For your first VO "Alpha" create the bind variable (say pValue)
    5) In your second VO "Beta" ViewRomImpl add following code:
    @Override
    protected void create(AttributeList attributeList) {
      super.create(attributeList);
      AppModuleImpl am = (AppModuleImpl)this.getApplicationModule();
      String someValue = am.getAlphaView1().getpValue();
setSecondVOAttr(someValue); // change this code to whatever your setter is for the field you want to initialize.
}Hope this helps. Let us know how you go.

  • Issue with variable values while adding report to Bookmarks/Favorites

    Hello All,
I am able to save the reports from my portal as bookmarks with the appropiate navigation state & variable values for reports which do not have a mandatory value variable with no default value. For all other queries like queries with no mandatory variables or queries containing mandatory variables with default values, this is working fine. Any inputs is appreciated. We are in BI7.0 with SP12.
    Thanks,

What's your question, because from your statement, it seems like everything is fine ??

  • Web report - Variable values while switching between views.

    Hi Gurus,
We have a query which has a few variables that are getting populated with default values during query execution[customer exits].
We have added this query to the web.Now there is a date variable  which gets populated with the current date value by default.Suppose the users don't vant to run the report for the current date, they are able to change the date in the variable window and execute. But once the report is run, and we try to choose a different vieew for the report, the report automatically gets refreshed with the selected view, but for the default current date value (because of the customer exit).Shouldn't the selected view be getting refreshed with the date values that the user had entered while executing the report?
Also when navigating between the different views, shouldn't a variable window pop up? Is there any setting to have the variable window pop up when navigating between the different views of a web report?
    Would appreciate a quick response.
    Thanks a Lot

    hello,
we need to go to Query properties -> interaction tab-> remove reuse variables to populate the variable screen everytime or "Save and reuse variable values" to supress variable window
    or
Problem could be due to any personalisation.try this:
One the query is executed, click on the button which says change variable values.
In the variable pop-up screen which comes up click on the personalization button
In the new screen which comes up click on reset personalization button
Enter new variable values and execute the query.

  • Query variable values in bookmarks (portal favourites)

    Hi,
Basic problem: When 2 different users save their modified query views they behave differently. In other case the favourite opens straight to the report without displaying the variable screen and in the other case the variable screen is shown with preselected values.
We'd like to standardize the function throughout the organization in such a way that every saved query view would behave so that the selection variable values would be automatically populated and the report would open without displaying the variable screen.
We ran the same report in debugging mode and found several differencies:
BI_TARGET_IVIEW (missing from the report which doesn't show variable screen)
    BusinessParameters
    - With Var Screen: Contains more information, f.ex. BW-client, and the technical name of the query
    - Without Var Screen: Just the bookmark technical ID
    ContentLink
    - With Var screen: QUERY=SALES_MP_Q0009&VARIABLE_SCREEN=X
    - Without Var screen: empty field

    Hi,
    A. If a person is doing the following activity
    1. Using the Export and Distribute-Bookmark function in the context menu of a Web application
    or
    2. In the BEx Web Analyzer when saving the ad hoc analysis
    or
    3. When you personalize Web applications
It will create a bookmark with bookmark ID.  (To View theses report  (SA38)
    RSWR_BOOKMARK_REORG - SAP NetWeaver 7.0 format)
    B. But if user is creating bookmark from portal framework.. like add to portal favorite or add to browser favorite in toolbar of portal, it only store the navigation struture of portal role.
    A.1 Regarding showing Variable screen.
IN BEx Template, if we set  Show Variable Screen  as OFF, It will not show variable screen provided the mandatory filelds are there. For case A, Since Bookmark ID providing all the variables information it will not show Variable screen.

  • How I can gain the variable value in web-application?

    Hi,
I have a web-template with several web-item. The data provider refers to a query with a variable screen.
After the report run and the table is displayed, i have need to set a paticular filter-item with the variable value that i put in pop-up screen.
Therefore I am trying a function or method in order to pass the variable value (pop-up variable).
    Help me, Thanks in advance

    Hi Ciro,
in the Web item properties of the Text element web item you can specifically select in the ITEM_LIST a list of text elements. For variables you can choose if you want to display text or key values. This should work for the print template.
With the Excel display I'm a bit unsure. There is a BEx Function called SAPBEXshowTextElements that allows you to display the variable values. I just don't know if you can execute it in the SAPBEXonRefresh. You can find additional information in the BW help under Business Explorer->Analysis & Reporting: BEx Analyzer->Queries in Workbooks->Integration with Visual Basic for Application (in the BW 3.1 documentation).
Another thing that might work is to add another navigational attribute to the needed InfoObjects with reference to the InfoObject. While loading Master Data you can fill the navigational attribute with the same value as the characteristic. Then you can drag the variable into the filter and put the Navigational attribute into the query.
Example: You have the IO 0COSTCENTER that you want to put a filter on. Create an IO COSTC_N (Costcenter Navigation) with reference to 0COSTCENTER and insert it into 0COSTCENTER as navigational attribute. While loading Master Data for 0COSTCENTER fill COSTC_N from 0COSTCENTER.
In the query put COSTC_N into the filter box and create a fitting variable. 0COSTCENTER can now be displayed in the rows and the filter values for COSTC_N are displayed in the query.

  • Company code and  Ship-To Party: variable values should be dynamic

    Hi,
We have queries where we have  Company code & Ship-To Party as Variable parameters.
While executing the report the user has to give the Variable values for both company code and ship to party.
But when they give the company code.....in the next parameter ship to party, it has to offer values which belongs to that company code only. But here it is offering all values form ship to party., where user don't want to see the value from other company code as they have lot of values there which is causing inconvenience to the user.
Kindly suggest me how to restrict the values at variable level.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Anand

    Hi,
You can do that using BADI BW_BADI_F4 .
You can use this BAdI to restrict input help for entry variables in the BI variable screen.
Create a separate implementation for each required InfoObject.
The BAdI is designed for multiple use.
Restricting input help without using hierarchies
To restrict input help for flat object lists without using hierarchies, use method Get_Restriction_Flat.
    Method GET_RESTRICTION_FLAT
    I_VNAM Variable
    I_IOBJNM InfoObject
I_T_VAR_RANGE Table of entries on the variable screen
    I_T_COMPID Table of participating queries
C_T_RANGE Range table with other restrictions
    C_INFOPROV InfoProvider
    C_F4_Mode F4 mode
Entry parameters I_VNAM and I_IOBJNM return the names of the variables and the InfoObject that F4 helpwill be affected for. I_T_VAR_RANGE returns additional values from the variable screen entered beforethe call. These are returned in a range table that does not, however, return any information about variables that cannot be entered. I_T_COMPID is a list of participating BI queries.
If there is a single InfoProvider, entry and return parameter C_INFOPROV contains the InfoProvider forthe participating queries, and can be overwritten in the implementation. Especially when you have justone MultiProvider, this allows you to restrict the input help to one of the physical InfoProviders ifyou also set the F4 mode to u201CDu201D (input help from dimension tables). The mode can onlybe set to u201CDu201D in conjunction with physical InfoProviders, as dimension values are otherwisenot available. If you reference to a VirtualProvider that is based on a data transfer process, you always need to set mode u201CMu201D (input help from master data)
Return table C_T_RANGE is a range table of additional restrictions that can be used in the implementation. These restrictions are identical to restrictions that the system makes in the standard setting. It is therefore not possible to add to the list.
The following restrictions are permitted in C_T_RANGE:
u2022Restrictions for InfoObject I_IOBJNM itself (for example using a specified range)
u2022Restrictions to groups of InfoObjects (for example restriction of the fiscal year variant for fiscal years)
u2022Restrictions by the InfoObjectu2019s navigation attributes.
For technical reasons, pure display attributes cannot be used.
You can also make a restriction to physical InfoProviders. In this case, the input help is restrictedto the specified physical InfoProviders. Field IOBJNM in table C_T_RANGE then has to be set to 0INFOPROV.In the case of a MultiProvider using physical InfoProviders with mode u201CDu201D (input help from dimension tables), the input help is built from all participating physical InfoProviders.
Entry and return parameter C_F4_MODE describes the retrieval method for the F4 help:
u2022In mode u201CMu201D, the input help is built from the master data.
u2022In mode u201CDu201D, the input help is built from the dimension tables of physical InfoProviders.
The choice of method is therefore always dependent on the choice of InfoProvider.
    Restricting input help using hierarchies
To restrict input help for flat object lists using hierarchies, use method Get_Restriction_Node.
    Method GET_RESTRICTION_NODE
    I_VNAM Variable
    I_IOBJNM InfoObject
I_T_VAR_RANGAE Table of entries on the variable screen
    I_T_COMPID Table of participating queries
    C_T_HIERARCHY Table of possible hierarchies
    C_T_NODE Table with node restrictions
    C_INFOPROV InfoProvider
    C_F4_Mode F4 mode
On the whole, this method is the same as method GET_RESTRICTION_FLAT. Instead of a C_T_RANGE, the additional node restrictions can be submitted using table C_T_NODE.
C_T_HIERARCHY contains the hierarchies that can be used based on the existing query restrictions. Ifthis table contains multiple entries, the system uses the first hierarchy in the standard setting. In a BAdI implementation, specific entries can be removed in order to select the required hierarchy.
Table C_T_NODE can be filled with individual nodes in order to restrict the hierarchy to the corresponding subtrees.
All other parameters are the same for Get_Restriction_Node as described above for method Get_Restriction_Flat.
For more information about implementing BAdIs for the enhancement concept, see the SAP Library for SAP NetWeaver, under BAdIs u2013 Embedding in the Enhancement Framework..

  • Find variable value out of attribute value

    Hi experts,
    We have the following requirement:
We have several queries in a workbook/Web Apllication.
Some of them are on sub-department level, other on department level.
We want the user to key in only sub-department (Unique)
The department is a navigational attribute of sub-department.
How can we pass through this department, using the variable -value of sub-department?
I guess we should use a replacement path variable, but w're getting stuck on the use of the rest of the parameters.
Or should we do it otherway?
    Thanks for your response
    Udo

So here, you will have input for sub department for few queries and in other queries you need to populate department based on sub department entered by the user, right?
Read the subdepartment varaibel value when the user enters and store it as global value in the customer exit code include. Based on that read the attribute value and populate it to the department variable. This just needds some smart ABAP declarations.

  • Retaining values when navigating between subtabs

    Hello everyone
I have a subtab region with 3 tabs in my page. I have some form fields in each tab, when I enter some details in tab1 and click tab2, and then come back to tab1 , my details previously entered in tab1 gets cleared. is there a way to retain these values when navigating between subtabs. all the tabs are based on different VO's
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Here's how I do it...
    (1) I always use Sessions.  In the main form of my application, I set up the session and I store a single variable:  Session.Exists = True.  All other forms begin something like this:  (It's actually an include-file.)
    <cflock ...>
    <cfset SessionExists = StructKeyExists(Session, "Exists")>
    </cflock>
    <cfif NOT SessionExists>
<cflocation ... send 'em back to the home 'cuz their session has expired>
       <cfabort>
    </cfif>
    (2) Now that we know that a session exists, we store various structs in the Session to contain the default or current values that have been used in a particular form.  If the Session scope does not contain a particular struct, it is automagically created with appropriate default values.)  This becomes "what we display," and when we capture the user's responses, we store them there, even before we validate them.  The session pool therefore becomes the vehicle for communication between the various forms.
    (3) If we reach a point where a particular piece of information is no longer useful, we delete the appropriate structure from the Session, thereby wiping out the entire set of values at once.
    (4) Structs and Arrays can, of course, contain other Structs and Arrays.  You can build data structures of arbitrary complexity.
    (5) As of late, I have found myself specifying individual CFCs for each logical "object" in my application.  This is true object-oriented programming, as best as ordinary CFC techniques can do without plunging headlong into the underlying nether-world of Java.  In those CFCs, I deliberately try to conceal just how information is maintained and stored, so that these necessary inter-dependencies within my application are concentrated in just one place.  "The structure is 'the object,' and the methods are found 'here and only here.' "

  • Passing a variable value from one query to another within a web template

    Hi All,
I have a web template with two queries.  Both queries have the same select option variable called ZSELCUST on the characteristic ZCUSTOMER but because they are different info providors (both infocubes) the customer has to be entered once for each query, even with the 'Display same variable only once' flag checked.
I want the user to select the customer once and then that value be passed to the other query within the resulting web template output.
Am I right in that the same variable is used more than oncee because of the different info providors?
I'm struggling, can anyone help out there....???
    Best Regards,
    Stuart Humphrey

    Hi
A way of doing this is by "linking" the queries: in transaction RSBBS you define the sender and receiver queries. In query navigation you can jump to the dependent query (blue arrow icon in the BEx tool bar). This transfers the navigational state to the called query: filters over characteristics and variable values.
    Hope this help

  • How can i get this variable value into second page IN BSP

    Hi friends
I have variable wk_matnr value 'ABC' in first page of BSP.
How can i get this variable value into second page.
    Moosa

    Hi,
you can define variable (page attribiue) on the second page with the same name. You can realise the Navigation with Button ther started onInputProcesing routine. In onInputProcesing you have to call navigation->set_parameter with attribut name as parameter and then starting the navigation. If you have checked the auto property on the variable on second page and varable have same name, the value of variable should be transported.

  • Change Bex Variable Value every time refresh query!

I'm looking for solution at this problem:
    1) I've create a formula variable
    2) I've assign to this variable a value in EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001 (step 2)
    3) When run my query it's OK but the value of my variable is static!!
The problem is to change variable value every time the user change a filter like when do "Select Filter Value"...
    How can I do this?

I know step 2 and this step is usefull for the first valorization of variable
but, for example, if I run the query with initial filter and after, in the navigation, I restrict the filter using "Keep Filter Value" on a single value of one characteristic the system doesn't execute the SAP EXIT and variable is the same of the first initial value...
I need a SAP EXIT or anything like it for change Formula Variable Value every time I change any filter during the query navigation.
