Variables containing French Accent do not follow - Photoshop data set

Hi,
I created a Excel file for my data sets. Some variables have french accent ( é, à, è etc ).
When I export to .csv or .txt, I have some issue regarding on which software I use to open the new file; all accents have changed to some strange characters.
However, when I open my csv file with Numbers, or Text Edit, accents are there.
My problem is Photoshop never show correctly the accent when I Import my datasets.  I tried to re-export from Number and/or Text Edit, but it didn't work
Any clue ?
Thanks

If you are unwilling to backup your data regardless of update/upgrade, I have no sympathy for you.
If you recall, the panther to tiger update was also no picnic. And it just makes good sense to backup all of your pictures/data anyway - regardless.
That in mind, your story is witty and disarming! Bravo on the final success.
I have upgrades/clean installed 3 macs with no issues on each. Maybe my luck <shrug>

    The client character set specified in the environment variable NLS_LANG controls the character set conversion between the database client and the database

    Hello Anuj,
    It takes awhile to arrange a change configuration with our IT section and arrange a test message with our partner.
    But we did arrange a test a few minutes ago.
    The b2b_2.log tip.properties reads as:
    -bash-3.00$ grep encoding tip.properties
    oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.encoding=ISO-8859-1
    #oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.encoding=Cp1252
    #oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.encoding=UTF-8
    But the b2b.log contains:
    -bash-3.00$ grep encoding b2b_2.log

  • Acrobat 10: We cannot search for words containing French accents.

    For example, if we copy a word like "Transporté" and paste it in the search field in Acrobat (Reader, Standard and Pro), it appears "transport´e" and the search fails.

    What app are you copying from? It works for me to paste (for example) café from NotePad. It also works to type café directly into the search box.

  • Dbms_xmlgen.getxml not returning entire data set

    hi, i'm trying to return xml from oracle using the following: select dbms_xmlgen.getxml('select * from person') from dual, but it's not returning everything. it's returning data only up to a certain point. I've condensed it alot just so you'd get the gist, but in reality, there are about 50 columns in this table.
    set pages 0
    set linesize 150
    set long 9999999
    set head off
    "(CLOB) <?xml version="1.0"?>

    </ROW>
    <ROW>
    <name>joe smith</name>
    <bday>1/1/2011</bday>
    <citizen>..."
    i've even "set long 2000000000" as some people have recommended, but that didn't work either. what gives?
    thanks!

    Yes, it's a display issue.
    In SQL*Plus, also set LONGCHUNKSIZE option :
    SET LONG 10000
    SET LONGCHUNKSIZE 10000Note : those are not "magic" values, you'll have to experiment a little to find what works best for your expected output.
    What do you actually want to do with the XML data?
    If it's really that big, why not write it to a file?
    DECLARE
    res CLOB;
    BEGIN
    select dbms_xmlgen.getxml('select * from person')
    into res
    from dual;
    dbms_xslprocessor.clob2file(res, 'TEST_DIR', 'result.xml');
    END;

  • Is there a way to select a document that contains a word not followed by a particular word in full text?

    I have a table named Documents that has Content field full text indexed
    Now i need to create a query in such a way that the query should return docs that have at least one word "hello" that does not have word "world" following it.
    --sth like
    select content from documents
    where contains(Content,N'hello(not followed by word "world")')
    And the result should be
    "hello" -- since this does not have world following hello in it"
    "hello friend and hello world" -- this document has word hello that is not followed by world it it"
    Can a full text query be formulated in a way to achieve above results? If so how?? I want to avoid parsing Content manually as much possible as I can.

    Hi Mokchhya,
    According to your description, the issue regards SQL Server Search, I will help you move the question on the related forums, and It is appropriate and more experts will assist you.
    In addition, I do a test. If you want to get the results which contains ‘hello’ characters and not contains’ world’ characters. I recommend you use NOT on any boolean expression. For example, if you create full test catalog and full test index. When you
    need to find the document records who has “hello” in their content, and does not have “ world” in content, CONTAINS( ) is takes one keyword to match with the records.
    select * from <database>.<schema>.<table>
    where contains (Name, 'hello') and not contains (Name, 'world')
    For more information, see:
    http://blog.sqlauthority.com/2008/09/05/sql-server-creating-full-text-catalog-and-index/
    if you don’t use full text search, you can use Like with wildcarding to scan a column. For example,
    ;With cte As
    (select * from <database>.<schema>.<table>
    Where name like ‘hello%’
    select * from cte
    where name not like ‘%world’

  • French accented characters in a barcode are being dropped when scanned by a handheld scanner

    We have an issue when our pdf417 barcodes contain french accented characters é,à,è, etc and are scanned by a handheld scanner.  As a result Montréal is decoded as Montral (the é is dropped).  We are using the Datalogic PowerScan 7000 and a Motorola Symbol DS6608 handheld scanners.  We currently have a ticket open with Datalogic.
    The problem does not exist when the barcode is decoded by LC Barocded Forms.Decode.
    Talking to someone, they indicated that this is pretty common with handhelds.  However, I did find this old post from lee sutton  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/332743 where he uses a keyboard wedge?
    Has anyone had to deal with a similar issue (non-english chars) via handheld?
    Can anyone recommend a handheld that does read non-eng characters without the wedge?
    Is there something in the encoding from Designer that i can do?

    When you're decoding with the hand-held scanner, you'll need to ensure that the decoder itself supports the scanning of extended characters AND if it's a keyboard-wedge scanner, ensure that your keyboard is in French or Canadian-French mode or the simulated typing won't happen.

  • ZipFile and french accent

    Hi,
    I have a problem with using the "java.util.ZipFile" library.
    Imagine that I have a zip file containing text files with names including french accents.
    The code to open and extract the files is simple :
    - I get each "ZipEntry";
    - get an InputStream;
    - convert to a bufferedInputStream;
    - use the read method;
    - save the data.
    But when the read method is executed the "java.io.IOException: Stream closed" message is displayed.
    If my zip file don't have file with name containing french accent, the code run without problem.
    If someone know how to resolve the problem...
    NB : I can't avoid the use of french accent.
    THANKS
    MY CODE :
    try
    String absoluteZipFileName = "C:\\temp\\fichier.zip";
    String destDir = "C:\\temp\\";
    zipfileName = new ZipFile(absoluteZipFileName);
    for (Enumeration iter = zipfileName.entries(); iter.hasMoreElements();)
    FileOutputStream FOS = null;
    BufferedOutputStream BOS = null;
    BufferedInputStream BIS = null;
    try
    int max = 2048;
    ZipEntry zipEntryTest = (ZipEntry) iter.nextElement();
    String fileName = zipEntryTest.getName();
    BIS = new BufferedInputStream(zipfileName.getInputStream(zipEntryTest));
    FOS = new FileOutputStream(destDir + fileName);
    BOS = new BufferedOutputStream(FOS, max);
    int nbr = 0;
    byte data[] = new byte[max];
    while ((nbr = BIS.read(data, 0, max)) != -1)
    BOS.write(data);
    catch (Exception a)
    System.out.println(a.toString());
    finally
    BOS.close();
    FOS.close();
    catch (Exception e)
    System.out.println(e.toString());
    finally
    try {zipfileName.close();} catch (Exception e) {}
    THE ERRORS :
    java.io.IOException: Stream closed
    java.io.IOException: Stream closed

    Why the java zip classes cannot work with zip files
    created by other utilities (e.g. WinZip or Linux's zip
    program) when they contain accented characters is a
    question that I cannot answer, but it certainly looks
    like a bug within the Java classes. It's not exactly a bug, I don't know what you would call it. When you look at the zip file specification ( http://www.pkware.com/products/enterprise/white_papers/appnote.html for example) you'll notice that the file name needs to be stored in bytes, but there is nothing to indicate which bytes. In particular it doesn't specify what encoding it assumes the file name is in.
    This isn't surprising given that the format dates back to a time when only ASCII characters could occur in file names.
    I suspect that if you used Java to create a zip file containing the file "sacr&eacute;bleu.txt", you would be able to extract that file using Java also. Most likely WinZip and the Java API code use different, incompatible, ways of encoding that file name. Using a hex editor to examine what they produce should display the difference.
    The reason I said it wasn't exactly a bug is that the specification is incomplete. But you could argue that what PKZip actually does is the de facto standard, and presumably WinZip does the same thing that PKZip does.

  • Variable Data Set has only one thing but the error asks for more

    Hi -
    I have a PSD (CS5, Win7) where I've defines 5 layers with variable names. One of them is the Heading layer with the variable named varHeading.  The Data Set I'm importing is very simple in that only the Heading layer will change. I'm gone over the construction of this text file a number of times but when I try to Import it as a Data Set I get the error:
    "Could not parse the file contents as a data set.  There were not enough variable names in the first line of the text file."
    varHeading
    "BABY CAR SEAT AECC0841"
    "BABY CAR SEAT AECC0842"
    "BABY CAR SEAT AECC0843"
    "BABY CAR SEAT AECC0844"
    "BABY CAR SEAT AECC0845"
    My first question is - does the number of variables stored in the PSD file have to match the variable names in the first line of the text file??
    If NOT - can someone please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?
    TIA your expert input.
    j2

    When you say you have defined 5 layers with variable names are you trying to attach the data set, that has one column, to each one at the same time? Did you create the data set in the Photoshop Data Sets Dialog ? The error that you are getting pops up when you have defined more variables than you have in your data set.

  • Why is my data set marking server not included in my executable?

    I have a program that writes data sets to a citadel database with a data set marking I/O server.  Everything works fine in the labview environment, but when I create an executable of the program, the data set I/O server does not appear to be included.  The executable can create a database and write individual traces to it, but they are not grouped into data sets.  I have looked everywhere in the project window and in the build specifications window for the executable for a setting that would affect this, but have found nothing.  Here is a picture of the build specification window for the executable. You can see in the Project Files window the lvlib file and the included Shared Variables folder, but the data set marking server is not shown as it is in the project window above it.
    The lvlib file created with the executable appears to remain in tact, because I can open it in the LV environment and see the data set I/O server included with it:
    Finally, here is a picture of the databases that MAX sees.  The VI in the LV environment produced the top database called C__Program_Files_National_Instruments_Labview_8_2_data with the DataSets folder, and the executable version produced the bottom database called mVROC_Database with no DataSets folder:
    I'm using LV 8.2.1 and DSC module 8.2.
    Thanks,
    Craig

    Hi, Drew,
    Thanks for the reply.  As I was looking into your questions above, I found that the I/O server was indeed geting included in the executable, but it was configured in the original project to look at the wrong database.  After a fair amount of playing around, I at least got it to create data sets.  However, there are some other weird things going on now.  The logged values of the variables are mismatched, or the value from say variable A shows up recorded in variable B. This stuff is all way too touchy.  Overall, I've been very dissapointed with using the DSC and database stuff. The promotional literature talks about how easy it is to use, but that is just not the case, and I've been programing in labview for about 10 years now.  Unfortunately I need to set this project asside for now so I can't investigate further, but I'll eventually get back to it.

    Craig

  • Display Help for Field not referred through Data Elements in ALV

    Hi,
    I am working on a report program where the output is in ALV_LIST display format.The internal table used to define the field catalog contains fields that are not declared using Data elements.For these fields, when i press F1 from the output, the message I receive is 'No Document Available'.Can someone tell me how I can attach a help document to these fields without creating a new data element for each of these fields....
    For eg : My internal table that forms the field catalog is
      Data : Begin of i_itab occurs 0,
             matnr like mara-matnr,
             Name(50),
             end of i_itab.
    When this table is displayed in ALV, if F1 is pressed on the field matnr the corresponding dictionary help pops out.But since the field Name has no help document attached to it, i cannot view any help for this..Kindly tell me how i can attach my own help document to this field.
    Thanks,
    Swathi

    Hi,
    This issue was solved using the followiing steps.
    1. There is a parameter 'IT_EVENT_EXIT 'in the FM REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY or REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY.
    2.Set the value of the field of this paramter as
    EXIT-UCOMM= '&ELP'  " F1
    EXIT-BEFORE = 'X'
    This will make the control go directly to the user command functio written inside the program rather than the standard SAP define duser command....
    3. Inside the perform -usercommand in the ALV program use the FM HELP_DOCULINES_SHOW to show the appropriate help document
    This method may be used to display help text for those fields/columns in the ALV which are not referred to the fields/data elements in the data dictionary tabel

    Ah... an interesting NLS problem ;)
    Main problem or misunderstanding could be that the characters small and capital ligature OE (œ Œ) is not part of the ISO 8859-1 repertoaire. That is, you need another characterset to store and use those characters properly.
    However, and sometimes unfortunate, if both db and session is using the same characterset setting, the binary value is "passed through" without conversion and stored - even if actual char is not valid!
    1. DB charset should be able to store all possible chars your apps/users need. That's a first. Is that the case?
    For sessions, the OS/app charset used should be indicated to Oracle with NLS_LANG parameter (registry or env var).
    2. Are you sure that (valid) character codes are stored correctly. Note that storing values directly could work technically but be wrong semantically. Values > 127 are not valid in UTF-8 (needing further explanation)!
    3. How are "characters" stored? What does this tell you?
    SQL> select dump(column,1016) from dual;

    I saved the file I was working on by choosing "Save" from the "File" menu. Unfortunately after 10 min as I saved my work  my PC had "issues" and needed to be manually shut off. I was trying to open the psd file after restarting my computer and I get this error message: "This document contains photoshop data which appears to be damaged. Continue and ignore the photoshop data?" I clicked okay and then I get just a black screen. No Layers or any pictures.
    I have tried to preview in Graphic Converter, in Illustrator, in ACDSee, etc... Nothing... I just get a black screen. Also, I have tried file recovery programs: Stellar Phoenix PSD Repair V1.0 and Advanced PSD Repair v1.4
    The program Stellar Phoenix PSD Repair V1.0 was able to recover only BMP picture 3.4 KB, it is so tiny that you can't see anything on the picture.
    I also have tried to install plugin "psdrecover", for Adobe Photoshop. Unsuccessfully for some reason. The plugin does not want to be installed into the "plugins" folder. I did follow the instructions.
    I am using Photoshop 6 version and Windows 7 operating System.
    I am in dire need of help. I've been working on it for days. Is there any way to recover that file back?

    I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you're likely out of luck.  We almost never hear of anyone recovering image data from a damaged PSD.
    Some thoughts:
    1.  Set up backups.
    2.  Get in the habit of saving your master file in several different locations as you work on it.
    3.  Consider upgrading to Photoshop CS6, which auto-saves your work in the background.  I'm not sure whether it would have recovered the data in your particular case, but it's possible.
    4.  Don't feel bad - go back and do the image again, and I'll bet it comes out even better in less time.
