Variant Config in Mobile Sales

Hi,
We can do offline Variant configuration and pricing on Mobile Clients (w/o connecting to CRM server). I would appreciate if someone can provide some documentation/tips supporting this statement ?(Please be specific on Variant Config and Variant Pricing on Mobile clients like laptops)
Or if someone has implementedit before, i would appreciate if they can tell about the challenges faced in implementing VC on Mobile sales and some other tips on same?

Hi Experts,
I am just looking into possibilities for this particular requirement and would really appreciate any inputs
Req: Being able to use variant configuration in an offline mobile sales scenario involving graphics (i.e. selection of characteristic: color should be reflected in the image of the product being configured.)
currently we using ECC 5.0.
the possible option at hand is to use CRM MSA but we still need UI which can handle the interactive graphics.
What other options do we have ?

You're correct - MSA is an offline application, with ocassional synchronization to CRM server.
What we've developed - was on the front end ( UI ) in the Mobile Sales application.
I'm not sure if this can be done in CRM UI ( with ABAP coding ).
I understand your requirement, and to me it sounds similar to what we have done.
You would need someone who know's Visual Basic or .NET really well, to develop an OCX control. Then, you have to incorporate this custom control into MSA.
After that, according to your requirement, you need to build a custom code to change UI based on the user actions.
So, to your point, whenever user changes the values of particular fields ( product type, quantity, status or category ) - the color will change.
I'm not sure what type of functionality you are looking to customize in MSA, but it definitely achievable.

Sales Order Variant Config

While returning from the variant config screen, I need to add a line item in a sales order. Does anyone know about any user-exit that could be used?

Yes, if you have done your settings correctly, especially Requirements class set up (see the documentation link), then the cost estimate will flow to a condition type in Pricing, usually EK01/EK02 conditions. These conditions are used to calculate sales prices (PR00) in cost-plus (mark-up) scenarios.

However Profit margin as calculated in a sales order comes from VPRS condition (which is based in Material Master) and is the difference of net value and VPRS condition value in normal circumstance.

A SAP está com 2 diferentes estrategias para Mobile:
1) para microapps, backends apenas baseado em stack ABAP e empresas com plataforma móvel única, a recomendacao é o Gateway como plataforma de integracao mobile
2) para aplicacoes mission critical (incluindo processamento offline), baseado em multiplos backends (SAP, DBs, web services etc) e/ou com multiplos devices móveis, a recomendacao é utilizar um MEAP (mobile enterprise application platform), e o MEAP da SAP é o SUP (Sybase Unwired Platform).
Nesse contexto, vamos às perguntas.
1. O que é o AFARIA ?
O Afaria é uma solucao que faz parte da suite de Mobile da Sybase, juntamente com o SUP, Mobile Workflow & Mobile CRM, que foca no cenário de MDM (Mobile Device Management). Ela te permite ter uma gestão centralizada de todos os devices da empresa, controlando permissoes de acesso (usuario/perfil), bloquear/liberar funcionalidades (camera, email etc), install/update/remove de apps, remote wipe, remote lock, tudo remotamente, On-the-Air (OTA).
2. O que é o SUP ?
Como falado acima, o Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP) é o MEAP (mobile enterprise application platform) da SAP, ou seja, plataforma de desenvolvimento de aplicacoes móveis. Um MEAP é recomendando principalmente no caso de aplicacoes mais críticas e em cenarios heterogeneos em termos de fontes de dados (data sources) e plataformas móveis.
3. Como instalar o ambiente de desenvolvimento ?
Se vc for parceiro oficial SAP, vc pode receber as mídias para ambientes de desenvolvimento como faz para qualquer outro produto. Sei ainda que a Sybase oferece(ia) via site próprio um trial de 30 dias, mas não sei se ainda está disponível.
4. Qual a linguagem utilizada ?
No SUP vc desenvolve em Java, em Eclipse (além da linguagem de cada SDK, no caso de WinMo, .NET no Visual Studio).
No Gateway, é ABAP* + linguagem da SDK movel.
Mas em ambos os casos, existem aceleradores que te permitem criar apps "draft" sem nenhuma linha de código, só com cliques de mouse (wizards no Eclipse/Visual Studio/Xcode).
se for só pra disponibilizar no mobile uma RFC/Transacao existente, dá pra fazer só com config, sem código.
5. O que eu preciso fazer pra saber criar um u201Chello worldu201D ?
Os treinamentos. Ou se virar batendo cabeça. :P
No caso do SUP, há o treinamento SUP511 que a SAP Education já oferece (antes era oferecido diretamente pela Sybase).
No caso do Gateway, ainda não há treinamento oficial, mas para parceiros há o Gateway Hands-on sessions by COIL, que introduzi no blog que vc linkou acima.
6. Quais os cursos disponíveis no mercado ?
Como falado, SUP511 p/ desenvolvimento em SUP.
Ouvi falar tb de SUP611 para afaria, mas nao sei dizer se a SAP Education já está oferecendo.
7. Como integra com o SAP ?
O SUP pode integrar de 2 maneiras:
- lendo um data source SAP diretamente (há um "adapador" RFC no SUP, baseado em JCo); nesse caso, o staging é feito no SUP;
- usando o DOE (Data Orchestration Engine), componente do NetWeaver Mobile Infrastructure, como staging entre o mobile device e o backend SAP. Nesse caso, no SUP, é usado o DOE conector. É essa estratégia que as aplicacoes "standard" da SAP (por enquanto, Mobile Workflow & Mobile Sales/CRM) usam, mas não dá pra afirmar com 100% de ctz que essa vai ser a arquitetura "oficial" - mais informacoes devem sair no Sapphire.
8. Uso somente para o SAP ?
O Gateway sim, é focado em backends ABAP.
Já o SUP nao, vc pode usar para integrar quaisquer plataformas compativeis com padroes abertos como JDBC, SOAP & REST.

BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2 is not carrying out pricing for variant config materials

Hi Guys
I need to create a BAPI to create sales orders coming in through a web service from an external system, for normal materials all works well, but for variant config materials the pricing is not happening, like the way it does when I manually create an order, I don't want to manually pass the pricing condition in BAPICOND as I want the BAPI to dynamically determine the conditions from the access sequence.
While debugging VA01 I found that the control goes to the 'PRICING' function module twice, ones for the main material , and next for all its config materials, the second time it calls the 'PRICING' fm with pricing type 'O'. Here it selects the price for all the variant materials and loads into an internal table vkomv and displays in VA01 the variant materials that we select while creating the order, but in the case of the BAPI call, the control is going only to the 'PRICING' fm call for the header.
I have passed 'V' in the application parameter and the variant material in the varcond parameter of the BAPICOND structure.
Any idea what I might be missing ??

Mobile sales online installation for CRM5.0(ABAP+JAVA)

Client wanted to implement Mobile sales online for NW2004s component CRM5.0(ABAPJAVA) stack. We have already installed CRM5.0 with ABAPJAVA engine and EP7.0.Currently we are using EP with CRM5 using PCUIscreens. Also configured SSO(SAP logon ticket) between EP and CRM and BI7.0.
I found the document which says about NW04 instance CRM ABAP stack and need to install JAVA satck seperately then do SSO and deploy .sca files etc...but could not find for MSON on NW2004s using EP.
We have already integrated CRM5,BI7 with EP7.0 using SSO saplogon ticket,now my concern is
1. Do i need to use MSON configuration like SSO,SLD,deployment on existing CRM5.0 ABAP and Java engine , which is installed in one system ?

2. Can i use MSON config through CRM5.0 already integrated with EP7.0 ? which is already configured SSO and SLD etc..
Which method is recomended for Blackberry to communicate CRM5.0 system?

How to find variant config material changes

Hi!
I have a requirement to compare variant config material under an equipment sales order. Scenario is:-
Suppose company has sold one product and that product is variant configured. Under configuration tab user has selected different characteristics and because of that characteristics some materials has come under that config material in sales order. Suppose customer has returned that material after some time and now I have to create a follow on return order. My requirement is , I have to check that if that configured material has been changed now (depending upon same characteristic values ) or not. May be that configured material is now having one more component material added that is priced now and that configuration product price has been changed because of that new added component .
Is there any way I can compare that configured material in sales order with regards to todays date. (Depending upon characteristic values) .

The material documents are NEVER deleted. You can reverse them (MBSM provides a list of reversed documents) but not delete them.
You can delete the delivery, then the VBFA is cleared but in MKPF table a trace of this still stay in field MKPF-XBLNR that contains the deleted delivery number.

Variant config

Hi gurus
cofniditon type va00 is manadatory or manual conditon in prcing procedure. Can any one suggest me. When i am maintaining in conditon records for the condition type va00 is not coming the it showing messege variant not found. So that price is not coming in sales order. Please help me in this regard

VA00 is a condition record maintained for variant config material. So if your material is not under variant config the error will come. you can delete that line if you dont have a variant material.

Variant Config Strategy

Hello all,
I am currently implementing BW for Sales (SD) for a customer that uses heavily Variant Configuration.
They are using 560 different characteristics to classify their various products. However, for each Material (ZMAT or modified KMAT), the number of characteristics used does not exceed 10.
I know I can create DataSources in CTBW to load Variant Config transactional data.
Anybody has experienced a data modeling strategy that would allow us to manage this efficiently?

we're having the same issue.
We have a configurable material. Mat type KMAT. That we have a sales order and planned order for.
When converting the planned order into a production order we get this message. It does not matter if the individual/collective indicator is set to 1, 2, or left blank.
Any clues? Are we supposed to be able to manufacture KMAT materials?

Variant config - Two Varinat class to single material

I had defined two variant classes eg: Class1 & class2 and assigned it to material in clasiification view.
While sales order the systems take me to variant config screen which shows charateristics of both the class combined. I need to display separately .
How can do this ? please help

Some light on Variant Configuration in Detail.
The procedure is as follows:
Create a Material - KMAT type with Item category (002)
Create Charateristics in CT04 - Zbike, where in values mention the Color of the bile like Red, Blue etc
Create another characteristics in CT04 - ZPrice, where directly go the additional data tab and maintain the table SDCOM and field VKOND (ABAP Dictionary it will ask for)
Assign these two characteristics to a Class in CL01 - ZBikeclass ( Type 300) in characteristics tab page.
Then go to CU41 Configuration profile select the material and enter the description click on the class assignment ie assign Zbikclass.
Now go back to CT04 - enter Zbike -go to values- select Red- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Select Procedure enter in front 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Red' and save
Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save)
Now select Blue- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Editor - Select Procedure enter in front of 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Blue' and save
Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save)
Now go to VK11 - Enter VA00 (Condition)(For Std RVA001 Pricing Procedure) - enter variant Red and Blue give the rates accordingly and create the sales order.

Variant Config. stock valuation.

Hi all,
We have implemented variant config with controlling. Finished material is valued at Sale order stage (Sales order costing). While uploading the stock, some of the materials are valued at std. price maintained in the material master instead of sales order costing. These materials are not valued at Std. cost estimate (CK40N).
Can anybody suggest how to rectify these values? One option is to recost the material in VA02 but it will not overwrite the stock value.
I am also looking for a functionality whereby I can recost these materials in one screen instead of going into VA02 for individual Sales order.

Your problem is that you have "some of the materials are valued at std. price maintained in the material master instead of sales order costing".
I think it is important to understand the following concepts and test with your logistics folks:
If you are using material type KMAT for VC, then there should not be any standard price as KMAT does not allow Accounting views, only costing views.
The lower level BOM of FINISHED KMAT may or may not be KMAT. BOM may have dependent requirements or independent requirements. Please check with your planning folks. Dependent requirements are generally MTO stock valued from sales order cost. Independent requirements are generally MTS stock valued from material master cost estimate.
If BOM is structured in the above way, then when we load inventory, it will take the value depending on the settings in material master, whether it is MTS or MTO material and whether the requirements are dependent or independent.
Valuated sales order stock must be linked to a sales order. Just because the material is marked as MTO in planning strategy, it will not have sales order COST.
I think we have to load open sales order and do the GR receipt as part of cutover, so it takes the sales order cost for MTO Inventory. (Test with your logistics folks)
OR
If you are doing 561 for MTO material, then it should ask for sales order.(Test with your logistics folks)

Hi,
For variant config. in MM you have to use the comunication structure as MMCOM in additional data for charactoristics.
to configure follow the steps :
u2022     Create a Material - KMAT as Material Type with Item Category - 0002 by using TCode MM02
u2022     Create Charateristics using TCode CT04 - Zbike, where in values mention the Color of the bile like Red, Blue etc
u2022     Create another Characteristics using TCode CT04 - ZPrice, where directly go the additional data tab and maintain the table MMCOM and field VKOND (ABAP Dictionary it will ask for)

u2022     Now go to Condition Record using TCode MEK1 - Enter ZVAR (Condition)(For created Pricing Procedure which contains the defined condition ZVAR) - enter variant Red and Blue give the rates accordingly and create the purchase order.
In the material tab new button will appear for configuration-- here you select the variant value ( value for the charactoristics - e.g. 'Red') - press enter and come back.
Check the pricing in condition tab.

Variant Config with Plng w/o Final Assembly case

Friends,
I have requirements to map Variant Config scenario for products that are Forecasted for the purposes of driving the dependent materials production/procurement.
The Finished configured part is forecasted for standard configuration, however, it is only assembled at the receipt of a Sales Order. The sub-assemblies/components are manufactured/procured in advance driven by the dependent demand frm parents PIR's. I can use Strgy 50 & make the matl configurable, but the system asks me to create Config Plng Profile to be able to create PIR's for it.
Want to know if there is a simpler way/strategy group with which I can manage the same? The configuration process itself is pretty straight forward, its the forecasting part that is creating the prblm to me.
Any ideas.

I found the way out for this. It all depends on how can the business:
1. Forecast accurately on the diff configurations possible (Plng Profile & Table)
2. Can they produce good consumption history on the lower lvl assemblies/components
The following can be done based on the buss reqts:
Finished prod's planned with Strgy 25, assemblies with 70 or Use Strgy 56, 89 for char based plng. The latter are v complicated unless the data is available on usage probabilities of config paramters..

Variant Config w/o Batch Mgmt ?

We are trying to implement Variant Config for our business & do not currently manage our products in Batches. I've done VC with Batch Mgmt earlier, however want to know if VC can be managed without batches. If so, what could be draw backs? Our variant config process is purely make to order, no material variants.

Below are the few issues which sparks immediately.
1. When you Produce materials , the characteristics values cannot be tracked at batch level.
2. The configuraiton will be available only in the sales order.
3. Tracking the configured product in the shop floor would be a huge task.
May be the list will grow as experts share their views.

Variant Config- Dependcy based on Material quantity

Hi ,
I have a specific requirement for variant config.
If we have a material A1 and it has variants as b1( values 5/10/15) and c1(red/blue/green).
when i create the sales order for A1 and enter 5 in the quantity field , then the variant B1 should be populated with value 5, if the quantity is 10 then B1 gets populated with 10 and so on.
I know that using the quantity field to drive this is not proper.
But I am trying to do a work around.
Because the business process has material with many variants but while ordering the customer will never order for more than 1 quantity of the material. and if he wants to check the various options he will need to mostly change one particular variant. I am trying to reduce the work involved in going to the variant and then choosing the value.
Any help would be rewarded...
