Variant configuration- with strategy 40

Hi,
We have gone variant configuration. And our planning strategy is 40 with weekly lot size.
Now the sales orders are created with different characterisitic values for same material
EX - sales order 1 - 10 pcs- size 20.
       sales order2-  15 pcs - size 40.
       sales order 3 - 20 pcs - size 30.
here size is a characteristic.
The sales orders generated in a week are combined (because of weekly lot size) into one planned order.and into production order.
The production order thus generated  is combineinng the total quantities of different sales order.
My question is how the production departtment should how much quantity is of what size.(characteristic).
Thanks in advance
Kalyan

Hello
As a Best Practice . for VCs you should activate ND in MRP1 - material masteri.e. No Planning , and there is config in SD ( requirement class for Availability Check and Transfer of Requirements ) thru which the Production Order will be created automatically as soon as Sales Order for VC materials in created..
IMG path -
Hope it makes sense.
pl come back in case of further questions..

  • Is it possible to use variant configuration (with a Non-SAP solution) when creating ERP sales orders in SAP CRM WebUI

    Hello,
our customer plans to use a Non-SAP solution for variant configuration (Camos) in SAP ERP (ECC 6.0) and in SAP CRM 7.0 EHP1 as well.
ERP sales orders (and ERP quotations) should be created in SAP CRM (CRM WebUI).
Is it possible to use variant configuration (with an external variant configuration tool) when creating ERP sales orders and quotations in the SAP CRM WebUI or do we have to implement SAP IPC for this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    AEV

    Dear AEV,
I think LORD (lean orders) should work with variant configuration as well. In the note 1236015 there is not restriction listed. However you need lord2 activated in ECC, and ECC system should be on EHP4.
    Best regards

  • Implementing Variant configuration with Non-configurable assembly

    Hi Gurus!
I have a scenario but don't know how to implement it.
My header material is configurable and has 3 semi-finished components under it. One of the semi-finished component contains a BOM with 2 raw materials, but this component is not configurable. I mean my model has a multi-level BOM but single a single level configuration. I want to implement an assemble-to-order manufacturing process for the header material. The component with 2 BOM items is manufactured in-house and the other semi-finished components are procured externally.
What kind of planning strategy should I use at the header level and should I maintain any special planning strategy for the non-configurable assembly?
I am new to SAP and also to variant configuration. So please give detailed explanation.
I have read the Planning strategies in the link SAP Library - Demand Management (PP-MP-DEM) but it is too confusing to me.
    Best Regards,
    Thileepan P

    Hi Caetano Almeida
Thank you for the links. I got a few more questions after reading that.
    1. In order type settlement profile which order should I check? I am creating a sales order (OR) for a configurable material in MTO strategy 25. In that case should I check "SD1    Sales Order MTO Production"? If so, am I looking at the right screen (refer screenshot below) and  are the settings correct in my system?
    2. As you have mentioned in the other links. Is it fine to make changes in material valuation in OMS2? Have you come across any situation in which this change has led to other inconsistencies?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Thileepan

  • SD Variant Configuration with manual entry cut length variant

    Hi Expert,
I have one scenario in variant configuration where client want to put one variant value manually and according to entry price variant for example 4 M cut length should pick up automatically in variant pricing.
    Please check below example.
    X-Material
I have created variant one Cut length and once Coated colour.
Character Cut length with no value as customer want put manually like 4 M ,4.2 M .......etc as per requirement.
Character Powder coated with different colour value like red, blue, pink etc......
    Character Price with SDCOM table
Condition class ZClass with above character....
Dependencies ZPrice with above character combination
    CU50 characteristic value assignment.
I have maintain condition record for VA00 with all character value....
Now I m creating sales order with X-Material where I will get option for variant for cut legth enter manual...4 Meter
and powder coated with colour option ,here I m getting price for colour which is coming from condition record...but not getting for cut length which we have enter manually...
One more thing sales qty sales in pieces and pricing should be in meter...so when I will sales X-material in pieces then pricing should be in meter.
Please suggest as this is urgent requirement...
    Thanks in advance

I m surprise no one has given any suggestion...
    anyway closing this thread..
    Thanks

  • Variant configuration with Sales order?

    Dear SAPIENTS,
I require variant configuration scenario in case of sales order, batch mangement, MRP, production order.

Edited by: Kaushal Rai on Feb 27, 2009 2:06 PM

    Dear,
    Follow these steps.
    1. Create the Characteristics in CT04.
    2. Create the Class in CL02. (Class type 300)
    3. Assign the characteristics to the above created class.
    4. Create the material (Product) in MM01 with material type KMAT.
    5. Assign the Class created in Step 2 to Classification view of Material.
    6. Create the configuration Profile in CU41. to the necessary setting to in it.
    7. Write the dependencies (Precondition, sele, procedure) in CU01.and Create Dependency net in CU21.
    8. Assign sele, procedure, Dependency net in Configuration Profile.
    9. Assign Preconditons to Chracteristics or Char values in Class.
    10. Check the model in CU50. whether your depencies or working file or not.
    11. Create the Supr BOM and Super Routing and attach the dependences in the respective and check whether your bom components and required operations are picking or not in CU50.
    12. VK11 - Enter VA00 (Condition) For Std RVA001 Pricing Procedure.

  • Variant Configuration Planning Strategy

    Hello All,
We are using Variant configuration and we want to maintain independent requirements for the dependent materials. The main material will be make to order and we want the dependent requirements from the main material to reduce the independent requirements maintained for the dependent materials. Please let what planning stratagies should i use for the main material and dependent materials. Due points will be awarded.

I don't know if R/3 supports full fledged planning based on characteristics but I do know characteristics based planning can be done in APO. The following documents talks a little bit about planing characteristics in the end in R/3, you may want to take a look at it.

  • Variiant configuration with material varaint

    Hi
I had creted material with material type FERT, i want to use this as configurable , i made "Material is Configurable and Material variant" in Basic data 2 view.I am using strategy 10 (MTS)
I made all the settings class, characters, configuration profile etc. Its working fine in Cu50 screen.
when i am creating Production order using co01.the cdonfiguration is not poping when i tried from header screen its just in display mode.
MY requirement is depend upon configuration characterstics BOM components/qty has to come in Production order.
How to configure this.where i have missed the settings?
    Regards,
    srihari.M

    Dear Srihari,
If you want to create configurable material with material type FERT, you must maintain :
    1. Basic data 1 : General item category 0002 configuration
    2. Basic data 2 : Tick material is configurable
    3. Maintain classification with class 300
    4. confuration profile in cu41
    5. MRP 3 : Strategy 25, not 10 (it is make to stock strategy not configurable)
    6. Maintain super bom and super routing, you can use object dependency in item bom and operation to characteristic in class.
also consult with your SD team, you need to maintain delivering plant and item category group in sales distribution view, also variant pricing in class 300 that you create for configurable material.
Important note : You can not configure using variant configuration with CO01 create pro manually because in variant configuration concept the all characteristic chosen in sales order step, try run MRP, check planned order with configuration then you can create PRO by converting this planned order.
If you use material variant :
    1. maintain material like other finished good, do not check configurable tick.
    2. In MRP 3, link this material variant to its material configurable and define the fix characteristic with for variant.
    3. You can create link for bom with CS40.
then you can create manually with CO01 for this material variant
    Hopefully it clears you

  • Retail-variant configuration

    dear experts
i am working on variant confg scenario(retail based).
So while creating BOM, I am giving class item.
but class type 026 is taken automatically while creating class(charateristic profile).
Then while adding as class item, it is giving error " class type 026 does not support configurable
    objects.
Also i am not getting ways to create class & charateristics using class type 200
So plase guide me on this issue
    Regards,
    sameer

    Hi Sameer,
Unfortunately, you cannot carryout variant configuration in SAP IS Retail System.
Once the Retail Switch is activated you cannot use certain manufacturing-oriented processes
    in an SAP Retail system.
You cannot create class type 300, 200.
You cannot add object dependencies to the in config profile as for that the material have to be KMAT type.
You can use the Generic/structured article for this concept, it behaves similar to that.
SAP Retail completely supports the special function for handing generic
articles in MM and SD only, not in the other standard areas.
SAP Retail does not support the following R/3 functions:
Variant configuration with variants subject to inventory management
Variants for generic articles cannot be used in variant configuration.
    Hope it helps.

  • Production Order BOM with Variant Configurable Material

    Hi,
I have a requirement to process the document items in the Production Order BOM for a variant configurable martial. I am not sure which Function Module will do this purpose. I checked the FM: CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2 and does not seem to be working.
Can you please help me with a suitable Function Module or program that will process the Production Order BOM? Appreciate Your Help.
    Thanks,
    Kanan
Edited by: Kannan SA on Jul 6, 2011 8:59 PM

What are you doing with the characteristics right now ?
If you want operations selected based on characteristic values, you need to have dependencies written just like you do (or in your case, will do) in your BOM components.
I understand the business-push to not do things 100% at the start and just "oh we'll add that part later" but I would really push back to get that part included initially.

  • Creation of sales order with Variant configuration info

    Hi friends,
I am creating sales order along with Variant configuration data. We have 3 level BOM structure.
    I am using BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2 and filling in ORDER_CFGS_REF, ORDER_CFGS_INST, ORDER_CFGS_PART_OF ORDER_CFGS_VALUE, ORDER_CFGS_REFINST

Updating Variant Configuration data for SO item became little tricky for us in an ongoing implementation. After spending some hours investigating the correct combination of data to pass, we were able to post the document correctly. As no detailed documentation is available online for this scenario, I hope this post will help community for similar requirements. J
For updating Variant configuration (VC) data for Sales order item, we need to populate below tables of standard FM or BAPI (e.g. SD_SALESDOCUMENT_CREATE).
Normally the standard FM or BAPI does not return any error messages in case configuration data is not updated successfully.
    ·         SALES_SCHEDULES_IN: The required date field should be populated with appropriate value (REQ_DATE).
    ·         SALES_ITEMS_IN: Field PO_ITM_NO should be populated with appropriate value.
    ·         SALES_CFGS_REF Table:

  • Create a production order with variant configurator data

    Hello,
Can anyone tell me the way to create a production order with variant configurator data. Is there a BAPI ? an IDOC ?
    Is there several steps ?
I have to create an interface which creates automatically PP orders. The data input is a file.
    Thanks for your help

    Hi,
There are fews BAPI's available for creation of Production Order. They are:
    BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE
This bapi will suit to your requirement, as input will be provided from file.
    Others are
BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE_FROM_PLORD " this converts planned order to production order
BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE_FROM_REF      " this creats production order considering other production order as reference.
    Hope your query is answered.

  • Process order with variant configuration material

    Hi,
I create a process order for a material XX.
This material has a BOM with a material that has variant configuration "class type 300" for price configuration.
When I save the process order I get a message saying "There are still characteristics for components to evaluate". I dont want to evaluate this material in my process order.
What can I do to not have this message?
    Regards.

    Hi all,
Yes, I work with variant configuration. But sales orders are not involved.
    What I do is:
    1) I create a purchase order for material X (this material belongs to a BOM), this material has variant configuration. I give a value to the characteristics in the PO.
    2) I create a process for a material XXX that has a BOM (material X is in the BOM and cannot be removed).
    3) When I save the process order the system asks me to evaluate again the characteristics. This is what I dont want it to do.
    Any ideas?
    Regards.

  • Save variant configuration data with BAPI or FM

    Hi experts,
I created a PP production order by using a configured material.
I can see internal object number in table AFPO-CUOBJ.
I'd like to change and save a value of characteristics by using ABAP.
Could you tell me it if there is a BAPI or FM to save values of characteristics in variant configuraion?
    BR,

you can chnage the variant configuration data using below bapi with strcture    order_cfgs_value      =
    CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE'
        EXPORTING
          salesdocument
