Variant files in BB

Hi,
During following the Building Block in configaration, I find in several area like for example .
"Change the General Ledger Accounts manually for the Company Code BP01and BP0X referring the variant file SMB14_FS00_C014_J03_01_V2.txt"
I like to know how I get this refered variant .txt file, and How I use it in config ?

This is regarding 4.7 version. I am trying to configure Best Practices - India (Baseline package) manually. Unfortunately the DVD on which the Best Practices documentation was sent is damaged and hence I am not able read some 'variant files' required to proceed with the manual configuration. These are .txt files (text files) on which some configuration data is given. This data is required to configure the system in best practices. When I looked into service market place, they have deleted the download links of BP Documentation for 4.7 version recently. I used to see those download links until a few weeks ago. Can anyone suggest me where I can get those files? Usually these files are in a folder called "miscellaneous" on the Best Practices Documentation DVD. If someone can send me that folder, I would be very grateful. This is a bit urgent.

St Practice JP_V2.600: Variant files not found

Hi,
Now I have been trying to install BP:V2.600.
In setting E05:Master Data, some variant files required for setting are
not found, and I cannot proseed implementation any more.
Does anyone know where these variant files are?
They are not found in Installation files...but written and set to use in eCATT programs.
E.g,
SMB50_SD_CUSTOMER_O034_J30_E05.txt
SMB50_XK01_O010_J30_E05.txt
SMB99_WORK_CENTER_O001_J01_E05.txt

Does anyone know why I get varying file sizes when I save a jpg (with same settings-None, 12, base "standard", preview checked) from PhotoshopCS5?

I opened a .psd file (300 ppi, CMYK, .jpgs (1626px x 2130px), I saved it as a jpg (None, 12, base "standard", preview checked).
I then closed the original .psd file.
I repeated those steps on the same file and saved a series of 6 .jpgs.
Of those 6 files, I received 2 large files (6.2MB) and 4 smaller (3.2MB) files.
My coworkers who were having trouble opening some of my jpg images in Windows Photo Gallery on Vista OS were able to open the smaller files but not the larger ones.
Do you have any idea why the same settings would give me different file sizes from CS5?
Is there a way I can make it consistently keep the smaller more compatible version?

How well a image data compresses depends on image content. Image with High detail do not compress well image will little detail will compress well and the file size will be small. Compare a image of a blank white wall to a wall with a black and white checker board wall paper. One is all white it white no other detail to detail the other has squares that vary in size because of perspective angle and distance a lot of detail must be recorded.
I do not know why they can not open some of your images. File size should not be an issue. All your image decoded are the same size Width number of Pixels Height numbers of pixels background layer only for these are jpeg files.

External Variants File in ECATT

We have a provision to provide external variants to CATT. I wanted to know whether we can also provide an external file for variants to ECATT.
If this is not possible please do tell me about some other option to load evxternal variants in ECATT

Loading variants from file can be done programmatically in abapendabap. Block
While recording the application find out what are the required fields for the script.
Instead of using variants store the values in the file. Then use an internal table to store this data for the screen processing.

That did the trick, once I figured out the missing step. For other folks interested, to use an .acv file to adjust a curve:
Open the Curves Adjustment Panel > Panel Options drop-down menu > Load Curves Preset... > find & select the .acv file (on hard drive) in the "LOAD" window > click LOAD. The adjustment in the .acv file will be applied to the image and appear in the curves graph of the Curves Adjustment Panel. Slick.
Apparently, moving the .acv file to the "Curves" folder in the "Presets" folder allows this curve adjustment to be a permanent preset choice. It can then be found under the Curves Panel preset drop-down menu. Just look for the original .acv file's name in the list.

Error while reading file name in a directory

I am trying to read all the file names within a directory, however I get the below error while running the code.

Variant Length 45 char limit - Help

Friends,
Iam developing a program to download all variants from current environment which are to be uploaded on other environment. Im using RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS FM. Problem is : when I Extract I get only 45 length limit for the variable value on the selection screen. This issue is with RSPARAMS structure which holds only upto 45 chars.
Is there any other way to download and upload variants other than above FM. Like for downloading program we use READ REPORT....anything as such (internal commands) exists for variants too....???????
If any of you have faced this issue, please do pour in your valuable inputs.

Seems you might be thinking that my requirement is little wierd......lemme explain you in detail.
We are moving from a Windows system to a Unix based as part of Upgrade. Because of this I have to change all the variants from
P06XXXX\VAROPT\ to /var/opt/ps1/ and we are expecting variant file path's to have more than 45 characters but when its changed to Unix path for sure max chars would be 43 (below our 45 limit).
My approach for this is :
1) Use the code in OSS Note to download all variants from Windows box and upload in new Unix box (paths would still be
P06XXXX\VAROPT\ ).
2) Once all variants all loaded in their old format, I would now extract the selection screen strucutre (using FM), I could use FM to extract values also but again 45 char limit is haunting.
3) Loop at the structure and IMPORT each variable. change variable content to Unix form and upload them using FM (RS_VARIANT_VALUE_CHANGE or similar).
Now my problem : I am not able to use IMPORT statement in a LOOP.
i.e.
LOOP AT OBJECTS.
IMPORT objects-name TO T_VAR FROM DATABASE VARI(VA) ID ST_KEY.
ENDLOOP.
Please help with this....

Bash CDE file manager problem

I have the following problem:
I use the CDE and the bash shell. If I start a bash terminal from the file manager file menu, the environment variables are not set correctly. The entries made in the file /etc/profile are just ignored.
However, the following works correctly:
-if I start the bash terminal from the CDE toolbar
or
-if I use the bourne shell (both variants file manager and CDE toolbar work)
It seems that the file manager is not receiving the correct environment information from the CDE.

Importing file types?

I am building a CDROM and would like to have varying file
types opening within it. Pdf's, powerpoints, word files etc. What
is the best way to do this. I know about linking to files that are
on the web, but I would like to directly open a file from the CD
and launch it in application e.g. adobe reader.
Any help greatly appreicated

Reg: Test Configuration with Default variant

I am new here.. Guide me to achieve this.
I do created the Test script ,Test data and also the Test Configuration
Whats my problem is I do run the TC with external variant (File that i have mapped) .
its works fine but Default variant is not triggering all other variant are triggering.
What to do to run all the external variant including default variant . Guide me with steps.

Hi Anandh,
ECATTDEFAULT is a special variant which is not intended to be uploaded from external files.
If you use the download option to prepare your external variant file as a sample, you will see that ECATTDEFAULT is deactivated by using * in front. It's only downloaded to the sample file for giving the scripts import parameter defaults as a reference.
If you like use these default values for individual fields of other variants simply leave those fields blank in the other variants.
To have your test executed with the whole record of ECATTDEFAULT simply copy the *ECATTDEFAULT line in your external data file and give it an other similar name, e.g. ECATTDEFAULT1.

Apropriate location for configuration files.

What are the issues with placing configuration files in /etc? In particular, with regards to configuration files shared between multiple applications.
Would you rather see these files in /opt/companyname or /usr/local? Why?
Further, does anyone know where I could find any standards documentation on exactly what types of files belong in which directories?

You will find that /etc/opt -> Configuration information for optional packages. Another typical location where such configuration files are kept are /var/opt -> Root of a subtree for varying files associated with software packages.
You can also find alot of specific/additional information for files in /etc directory in 'man' pages (eg. man networks, etc). An example search order of configuration file by application for your reference.

Quisiera saber cómo puedo extraer las filas que corresponden a "U" (ver imagen adjunta) y ponerlas en un arreglo, luego las filas que corresponden a P y por último las filas que corresponden a L. Es decir, obtener 3 arreglos finales, uno de filas u, otro de filas P y otro de filas L.

Hola pcortes , agradezco sus respuestas.... esos datos los obtengo de un archivo .csv, y acomodo en un arreglo.
Es correcto lo que mencionas, aquí el arreglo es 2D.
El inconveniente es que son varias filas u, varias l, varias p y extraer una fila por una, no resultaria eficiente.
Mi objetivo es "clasificarlas"y acomodarlas todas las filas u, en un arreglo, todas las filas l, en otro y todas las filas p en otro. Posteriormente graficar esos 3 arreglos; con el eje X que contenga las fecha y horas y en el eje Y que se indiquen los estados U,P y L.
¿CÓMO PUEDO HACER ESO?
