Variant Transport via TR

Hi Sap Gurus,
Could anyone let us know how to transport variants to one environment to another environment, we could not able to save the variants in the Transport Request, could you advise how to move variants related to SAP standard transaction and Z* transactions from Dev.,>Quality> Production systems.
Regards
babu.

Hi Srinivas thanks for your inputs,
We could able to capture the variant details in the TR by using SE38, but we have some program which are created by GR55  and not created any transaction codes, when we try to save variants for the program which are created via GR55 in SE38, system is giving the following message.
Function cannot be used for local/private objects
Message no. DB275
Diagnosis
Variants cannot be transported if the relevant program has only been defined as a local/private object (development class $TMP).
System Response
No transport request generated.
Could you let me know is there any way to save this variants for the program which are created by using GR55.
Thanks
Babu

  • Variant Transport

    How is variant transported ?

    Hi,
    There are at least three ways that I know of that you can transport a variant for a program.
    When you first transport a program, all elements of a program are transported along with the source code. This includes any variants that have been created at this time
    After the first time a program has been transported, there are two ways to move a variant. The first method is to manually add an entry to the transport for the variant you want to move. The format of the entry is LIMU VARX xxxxxxxxName_of_the_variant where xxxxxxxx is the program name.
    The last method is the easiest, in that you do not have to remember any arcane codes. Go to the ABAP editor, and go to the variant screen. Under the Utilities menu is Transport Variant. This allows you to choose the variants to transport, and the transport to put them in.
    Also you can refer:

  • Customer & Vendor not transported via Plant tCodes WB01/2 or WB07/8

    Hello,
    We have change control enabled in our Dev, instance/clients SAP 4.7 IS-Retail , Basis 6.2
    Looking for help in understanding the necessary steps to transport the Plant Vendor and Customer records.
    The transport includes Plant records, but in the destination client the Customer and Vendor records that
    are automatically created via WB01/02 are not being included in the transports?
    Would appreciate any advice on how we transport the Vendor and Customer records that automatically
    get created via WB01/2 in the source client to the destination client.
    If we try to use XD01, XK01 the system enforces the Customer/Vendor records can only be maintained
    via the WB## transaction codes for IS-Retail.
    Have tried using WB07/08 and included in a transport, but still the Customer & Vendor master records
    are not being included in the transport.
    Any ideas?
    Regards, Ron.

    WB02 can not be used if the Customer and Vendor are not created implicitly via WB01, this
    is why the transport methodology is failing, See below. We were able to use WB01 on an existing
    Plant that had been transported, to maintain/create the Customer and Vendor relationship,
    but this produced inconsistent CO relationships that caused ME59 to fail.
    Note, you can not use XD01/XK01 for Customer/Vendor maintenance as it would pertain
    to Plant Customer Vendor relationships, this must be done via WB## t-codes.
    What we have found is that exporting and importing plants includes the Customer & Vendor
    coupled to the Plant. However the export and import WBTE,WBTI capability is not working
    properly as is similar to the transport capability.
    So, we have reverted to manually creating the Plant in each Instance Dev "IMG Gold Client",
    Test, Pro to complete this requirement. This has proven to work, but transports and or
    export/import have proven to not work as expected. Probably specific issue with SAP
    IS-Retail.

  • ID transports via CMS

    Hello,
    I have CMS transport question related to ID on XI. The CMS transport environmnet is setup as follows.
    DEV -
       QA -
    PROD
    We are using XI 7.0, SP11 and CMS is on SP11
    We configured a scenario on Dev environment and transported configuration scenario with all objects. Our basis team released the transport and now it is available on QA environment. When we checked QA enviroment we got transported scenario with all objects. We transfered all objects and tested successfully.
    Now we want to release transport to PROD. Our admin assembled package and resleased to PROD environment. When he was assembling package used "Same Support Package number as the last Support Package number" option. This option is supposed to assemble only changed items since last assembly. We do not have option to disable "Assemble all components"(per user guide).
    Interstingly When I look in ID, found all objects that have ever been transported including objects released about 6 months back. I do not want to assemble and release transports that were already released 6 months back.
    I appreciate your help.
    Thank you,
    Balaji

    Sudharshan,
    Thank you for the response. After I read VJ response I am not sure if it really addresses our problem.
    As you know in the current issue every ID object from QA moved to PRD via CMS transport, I tried to activate only those configuration scenarios and all objects related to scenarios we are interested.
    I got following error .
    "Unable to move object. Change lists were not part of same import."
    I made sure in all communication channels, all required fields have values filled in and saved before activating. I searched SDN for the error message and found couple of responses. They also suggested to fill in all required values in the communication channels.
    Any suggestions or comments? I appreciate your help.
    Thank you,
    Balaji

  • FB50 Screen variant transport

    Hi,
    I have created screen variant for FB50 using SHD0. Now, how can we transport this variant to other client. I have read other threads for variant trasport but none of them is working for me. I tried SE38 but was totally confused.
    Thank you,
    Joseph

    Hello,
    You can use SE38, you use the name of the program SAPMF05A and select Variants.
    In the menu goto->Variants (or CTRL + F1).
    Enter the name of the variant (you can create it here by pressing the button CREATE.)
    Next in the menu UTILITIES -> transport request, enter the name of the programm and the variant you have created. Then execute.

  • Broken image in case of transport via NWDI

    I have a image file in a webdynpro application. I have placed it in the src -> mimes -> comps -> package folder.
    When I deploy the application I can see the image on the application.
    Now when I released the application from development to staging, the application works fine, but the image is not getting displayed. We get an 'X' mark in place of the image.
    I checked the .ear file and extracted it. I can see the image file in the components-> package folder.
    Also the .dcdef file of the application has the following:
    <i>     <folders>
              <source-folder>META-INF</source-folder>
              <source-folder>src/mimes</source-folder>
              <source-folder>src/configuration</source-folder>
              <package-folder>src/packages</package-folder>
         </folders</i>
    We are using EP 7.0 SP11 portal and NWDI to transport the applications.
    Please let me know how to solve the broken image issue.
    Regards,
    Vibha Singhal

    Hi Vibha,
    Check if the image is added in the activity. You can check this way...
    - Go to Development Configuration Perspective
    - Expand the DC
    - Navigate to the location where you image is added.
    Here you can see if the image is added to repository or not by checking the icon. If you see a blue color Hut symbol on your image then its not yet added your DTR repository. You can right click on the image (DTR -> Add -> )and add to you an acitivity then check in and release it.

  • Migrating Transports via CHaRM to the same system more than once

    Good Day;
    Does anyone know if CHaRM has the capabilities to migrate transports (within a maintenance cycle) to the same system multiple times?
    Let me explain.
    When we move a maintenance cycle (release) through our landscape we move from;
    Development system - Quality system - Volume system. Then to production
    UAT is being done in both the quality system and the volume system.
    Once all testing is complete, we refresh the volume system with a fresh copy of the production system and re-import all the transports. This is to allow our BASIS team to do regression (batch) and load testing.
    Is there a way to use CHaRM to migrate the transports or is this something that needs to be done manually (as it is today).
    Thanks All,
    Regards

  • Error when creating a transport via a correction in charm

    Hi Folks..
    I am getting an error when I attempt to create a transport using a correction from a change document which is created from a service desk message.  I am able to go through the entire process upto creating the transport in the satellite system.  When I try I get the following error:
    Action Create Transport Request in system DBW 111 of type Source Systems has been cancelled
    There is nothing in the action log or either system log.  Has anyone seen this before?  I can't find anything in Notes, google or here in SDN.
    Thanks for your help!
    Best Regards,
    Bill

    Hi
    check log of this action in the task list (goto task list -> search error in calendar -> double klick for details)
    Maybe:
    -You don't have a user in the development system
    -You have created a task for a non existing user
    -RFC user of TMW RFC has not enough authorization in the dev system to create transports (trace authorizations while creating transport)
    best regards

  • Transport via CMS (Java stack) no longer available after upgrade to sp 14

    Hello
    Recently we have upgraded our SAP-XI  (SAP NetWeaver 2004s) up to service pack 14.
    Since then the CMS is no longer available on the Java stack. Exporting objects is only possible using the File System.
    When we try to release change lists for CMS transport we get the following errors:

    Has anybody experienced similar problems with service pack 14 and has found a solution to "reactivate" the CMS? Might it be an authorization problem (UME)?

    Hello Lieselot
    The upgrade of our SAP-XI was done by an external company. Therefore I cannot tell you the detailed procedure.
    However, you should search the Service Marketplace for patches of support package 0014 (there should be at least one patch around).
    If I remember correctly patching was required on both ABAP and Java stack.

      Uwe

  • KM transports via API

    Hello All,
    I have a requirement to transport KM content (such as folders, files and their properties) from one portal to another. AFAIK, the two supported methodologies that do just that, i.e. ICE and WebDav, only transport the current version, but not the version history. One of the requirements of this project is to create an exact copy of the content and that includes version history as well as properties such lastModifiedBy. I therefore tried to use the repository framework API as described in <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/5d0ab890-0201-0010-849d-98d70bd1d5f0">this</a> document.
    Also, in order to be able to set live properties, such as lastModifiedBy and lastModifiedDate, I ticked the „set_systemproperties“ flag of the system role in question as described in <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=86224">this</a> thread.
    All this works in principle, but I came across the following two problems and would be very grateful for any help:
    1) When I create version 1 of a resource in the target portal, I can successfully set live properties such as lastModifiedBy. However, in the portal when I look at the version details of the created resource, only the current version has the lastModifiedBy property as set by me and revision 1 (which should be identical to the current version as I’ve only created one version so far) has as lastModifiedBy the name of the user who executed the code. Why is that and is there a way to set lastModifiedBy on revision number 1 as well? This is the code I’m using:
    RID rid = RID.getRID("/documents/foobar");
    ICollection parent = (ICollection)ResourceFactory
        .getInstance()
        .getResource(rid, resourceContext);
    IContent newContent = ...;
    MutablePropertyMap properties = new MutablePropertyMap();
    properties.put(Property.createLastModifiedByProp("bondj"));
    IResource newResource = parent.createResource("test.txt", properties, newContent);
    2) The second problem I come across is when I try to update a resource and create version 2 of it. This time, I get a com.sapportals.wcm.repository.PropertyReadOnlyException when I try to set the lastModifiedBy property. This is a bit surprising as I’ve set the „set_systemproperties“ flag of the user in question and I don’t get the PropertyReadOnlyException when I create the resource as described under 1) even though I set the lastModifiedBy property there as well. This is he code I’m using:
    RID rid = RID.getRID("/documents/foobar/test.txt");
    IResource resource = ResourceFactory
        .getInstance()
        .getResource(rid, resourceContext);
    IContent newContent = ...;
    MutablePropertyMap properties = new MutablePropertyMap();
    properties.put(Property.createLastModifiedByProp("bondj"));
    resource.checkOut();
    resource.checkIn(newContent, properties);
    Thanks in advance,
    Thomas

    Hi,
    will be something like this:
    IResourceContext context = new ResourceContext((com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement.IUser) request.getUser().getUser());
    ICollection col = (ICollection) ResourceFactory.getInstance().getResource(RID.getRID("public/documents"),context);
    col.createCollection("newSubfolder",null);
    However, you'll need to reference some km services to get it working.
    Regards,
    Armin
    Not to forget, you'll find numerous examples on this in the KM section of SDN.

  • File to Proxy scenarios, varying Transport Protocol

    I need to define a "normal" scenario which will pick up files from an external FTP location, and process them with a server proxy.
    But there's the additional need to pick files from an arbitrary local file server in which some users could drop manually files they received by mail, which should be processed in the same way.
    This forced me to define two communication channels, two sender agreements, etc, and dupplicate in general all the directory objects. The CCs vary in the protocol and directories properties, but the content conversion parameters are also dupplicated (Recordset, fieldNames, fieldSeparator and such).
    I will have this same situation with at least 4 interfaces which leads to a lot of objects proliferation.
    Is there any way to avoid this massive dupplication?
    Many thanks!

    Hi Alejandro -
    your suggestion didn't apply because in this case we are talking about the same adapter but different protocol which requires two separate CCs
    >>>No need to have two separate CC's when you go with execute OS commands option.
    Only one channel which will pick the files from local file system. But before processing these you execute the OS commands to download the files from FTP server.
    But of course, as you are comfortable with the the other suggestion, you can create the channels and sender agreements..

  • Transport via CMS into two diferent XI landscapes

    Hello,
    we have one XI development system and have to transport the design and configuration objects to two different sets of consolidation and productive sets.
    we set up two tracks in the landscape configurator, but the exported objects only appear in one of the tracks, ut not in the other.
    How do I have to set up the landscape configurator that I can transport the objects to different tracks at the same time?
    Kind regards,
    Peter

    Hi,
    Refer to following weblogs for the same. We had the same scenario and we have followed the process mentioned in blogs.

  • Problem in transporting Variants - "You cant transport client-specific obj"

    Hi,
    I am facing a problem while trying to transport variant from DEV to QAS.
    When I tried to transport one of the variants (of a program) from DEV to QAS (quality system), it gave me an error that: "You cannot transport client-specific objects".
    Pleasehelp.
    Thanks,
    Vishal.

    Hi,
    The program is Not a local object. I am trying to assign the variant to a transport via. SE38->variant->display->utilities->transport request-> request number.
    Is there a way to modify this variant from client specific to "non-client-specific".
    Also, please let me know hoe do we copy this variant into a new variant which is not client specific (i.e. a global variant).
    Thanks,
    Vishal.

  • Transport Themes via Transport Editor EP7

    Hi,
    Earlier the Themes could be transported via Transport Editor. With EP7, I cannot do that! I see the Themes folder, but that cannot we expanded.
    The only possibility is to do it from the "Portal Display"->"Theme Transport"
    Any idea?
    Regards,
    Dharmi

    Hi,
    If you want to use CTS+ , then you might need to export themes from transport editor only as epa file.
    refer below document to check prerequistes to use cts+
