Various apps require iOS 3.2, but my 1st generarion touch says it is up-to-date with version 3.1.3
Various apps, including Accounts and Wolfram Alpha, say they are available for iPod touch, and apply to iOS 3.2. But I can't get 3.2 on my first generation touch: these statements of requirements and compatibility are now seriously misleading (and expensive).
Is there a way round this?
So the statements are not incorrect; those apps will not work on your model of iPod. They require a newer version of the iPod touch.

Ever since the last few days (say, a week) i've been getting messages saying that Flash is outdated, and firefox blocks the plugin, so I have to unblock ("allow") every time I get to a new page. It's no big deal, but it's annoying and, for example, I can't watch movies on my fave movie page...
In firefox's Plugin Check page I get an "Up to date" message, but it shows version 11.2.202.418, wich is also the version on Ubuntu's Software Center , and current versione is 11.2.202.425. Look for the '''.mozilla''' folder in home/ and create a folder named '''plugins''' then you can place the libflashplayer.so file there.
Now any install of Firefox and SeaMonkey will be able to use it.

I am trying to download various apps and games and I get the message "this app requires iOS 4.3". Please can you tell me if I can get this on my ipod touch ? Many thanks
Unless you have iOS 4.3+ on your iPod (your current version is shown in Settings > General > About > Version) then you won't be able to download and install that app.
You can check if your iPod supports a higher version of iOS than you currently have by connecting it to computer's iTunes and selecting it on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button. If it doesn't find any available updates then I assume that it's an older iPod and that it's on its version, so you won't be able to update it to iOS 4.3+ nor to download that app onto it.
If it does find an available update then before you start the update first copy any purchases off the iPod to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off it as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPod by right-clicking the iPod 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.

I recently restored my iPod Touch because e-mail, contacts, and calendar stopped working. Upon restore, I noticed many apps failed to reinstall. Apps like Yelp, Facebook, etc. Roughly 10-15 in total are missing entirely. I can select the app in iTunes and move the icon but the application will not install. If I install the app from the iPod its self, an error comes up saying "Update Required: This app requires IOS 4.3". IOS 4.3 is not available for my iPod.
I don't care if I don't have the latest version on the App store, but I do want the latest version available for my device.
How do I install the latest compatible version from the App store onto my iPod?

Sorry, but there is nothing you can do other than buy a newer iPod. A 1st-generation iPod touch cannot run any version of iOS later than 3.1.3 and hence cannot run any app that requires a newer version.

App developers decide on what iOS versions to support with their apps. Also, Apple has identified certain updates that are necessary for particular applications. The only way to continue using certain apps on the iPhone 3G is to not update your apps if they require a higher iOS to operate. When you get ready to update an app, it will say what iOS is works on, and if it requires higher than the iOS you have, do not update. The only other alternative is to replace the device with a newer model.

Download the current GarageBand version to a computer's iTunes library, go to the device, sign into the iTunes App Store with the Apple ID used to do that, and try downloading it from the list of previous purchases. If that doesn't work and you don't already have a copy of a compatible version, you can't.

I have an iPhone 4 also. If you are referring to the flyover view, its unavailble for the iPhone4. If you want to rotate the map, hold two fingers on the map for 2-3 seconds and rotate them in opposite directions.

ITunes can't find music & won't run at all
A couple weeks ago we changed servers. All of my iTunes music was on the old server; now it on the new server (with a different server name). When I try to run iTunes an error message comes up saying iTunes cannot find or create the iTunes directory.
