I am new to Oracle EBS and working on R12.
While running adadmin i observed it is displaying the status of various features of AD Administration.

Hi There Y'all,
I have recently downloaded MacKeeper. It ran OK for a bit, but has recently stopped allowing Internet security updates and switching on of the internet protection options.
Asked for help at MacKeeper. Their initial advice did not work, so a very nice technician was going to remotely attempt to fix the issue.
He however needed/still needs access to Terminal, a to me unbeknown Utility feature of my MacBook pro with Mac OS X 10.6.8.
While attempting to open Terminal the following came up
You are not authorised to run this application.
The administrator has set your shell to an illegal value.
Did do a diskverify permission and repair and restart.
Did check my admin settings in advanced options and have the /bin/bash.
Any advice anyone.

After finally localing private/etc/shells through Go>Go to folder and replacing the empty shells with the shells~orig I have permission again to open Terminal. Thanks. Another step.
(Why though can't I access /private/etc/... through Finder's search?)
Should work but the file or folder needs to exists to access it. If you typed in /private/etc/shells and the file wasn't there there's no place to access. Certainly /private/etc was there so that would have worked.
So what will happen by inputting the lines
ls -Fvl /bin/bash
ls -Fvl /etc/shells
more /etc/shells
into Terminal?
Basically to find out what you already seemed to find out. The first command was to display owner, group, and permissions of /bin/bash and to tell me whether it still existed.
Similarly for /etc/shells.
And the last command would have just displayed what was in /etc/shells.
By the way /private/etc and /etc are the same folder.

You need the administrator permission to enable the built-in administrator account.
For secure concern, there is no other way to do this.

Running iTunes as Administrator fixed "iTunes has stopped working" error.

I have this problem with iTunes. Whenever I try to access the iTunes store, I get the Windows "iTunes has stopped working and needs to close" error. I am running Windows 8 64-bit.
If I run iTunes as Administrator by right clicking the iTunes icon and clicking "run as Administrator" I no longer experience the issue.
I'm running the latest iTunes version as of 10/11/2013.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Queries run faster under Administrator account than from "regular" users

We have OBIEE 10g used as a reporting tool against E-Business R11i. When OBI reports are run from the Administrator account, they complete in about 15 secs. When the same report , with same parameters is run from a non-administrator account, completion takes 5 mins. In this latter case, the E-Business DBA can clearly see the "expensive" query running in the E-Business database (module=nqsserver@<obi application server host>). In both cases, the results of the query are the same.
What can account for the difference in performance when the user account is changed?

Not too sure what you mean but I do know that,
1. Authentication for end-users is through MS Active Directory (to login to OBI, they enter the same password as for the Windows Domain login to their PC's).
2. Authorization is via responsibilities granted to their corresponding accounts in R11i E-Business Suite, ie the reports that they can run in OBIEE are determined by responsibilities in E-Business.

How can IT departments set up basic users to run Captivate with Administrator privileges?

As we all know, on WinVista and Win7 or later systems Adobe Captivate must be launched with Run As Administrator privileges in order to function correctly and not crash. But the problem here is that in many corporate environments general users are not allowed to have Administrator access to their own work PCs. This presents something of a dilemma for IT departments with Adobe Captivate users.
Some time ago on this forum one of the Adobe technical staff chimed in on a thread about the Run As Administrator command and explained the technical steps required to set up a Group Policy in WinVista/Win7 that would allow a basic user to always launch Captivate with the necessary admin privileges even though they did NOT have Administrator access to any other app on their PC.
I have searched in vain to find that particular thread and post, so I've started this thread in the hope that someone at Adobe can again chime in to detail the necessary steps again.
So is there anyone there that can help out?

DOH! my bad.....I/we run WinXP at present and no UAC.
However, all may not be lost, try some of these options as posted on teh MS Technet forums....An admin person may need t do this first to enable this for that user...

Try these two options:
Using Compatibility Mode
NOTE: This will allow you to always have the program run as an administrator when you open it.
1. Right click on the program shortcut or program .exe file, then click on Properties, and on the Compatibility tab. (See screenshots below)
NOTE: If you are doing this while logged on as a standard user instead of an administrator, then you will need to also click on the Change settings for all users button and type in the administrator's password.

Iplanet MS 5.2 Too many failures to this host during this run skipping ...

Hello every body,
I'm DBA (Oracle) and I've been replacing a System Administrator who left suddenly the company, I work on iplanet messaging server 5.2
The company use a domain like email.company.xx it's the server root so we can send and receive without probleme
when we send from others domains which are hosted by this server we can't receive, I've tried whith outlook then I've received automatically Spams.
In the log file
1/ when I try from the domain root to another domain (in the same server) I have "initial status response expected"
2/ when I try from a domain to the same domain (not the root) I have "Too many failures to this host during this run; skipping this host: Try again later"
I thought of the tcp_local config, I checked imta.cnf but nothing.
How do I resolve this problem

Messaging Server 5.1 is beyond the EOL Shane described previously. The date after which you can not even open support calls for 5.1 was 6 years ago, March 2004. See [http://wikis.sun.com/display/CommSuite/Messaging+Server+EOL+Dates].
There will be no further bug fixes for 5.2, 6.0, and 6.1, but you can still open support cases about them. The "last bug fix" date for 6.2 is this month, June 2010.
The "Too many failures to this host during this run; skipping this host: Try again later" error means what it says: there have been too many previous failures trying to relay messages to this host, so the message is being put back in the queue to be retried later. So you need to look at what those failures were.
The "initial status response expected" error means that the smtp_client process on this system connected to the TCP port on the remote MTA but never received the "banner". So you need to look at what is happening on that remote system or in the network. Perhaps there is a firewall in between? You could use something like snoop to see what is happening at the TCP level. But...
You describe the messages having this problem as being "from domain to the same domain" and the mail.log_current info you provided shows it is from "[email protected]" to "[email protected]" and that it came in on the tcp_intranet channel and was enqueued to the tcp_local channel.
I wonder why mail for a user in some other domain is coming from that user and going thru your system. Is that your own domain and this is an MTA system rather than a message store system?
You could try setting LOG_CONNECTION=3 in option.dat (and do imsimta cnbuild; and imsimta restart job_controller). On current versions, that will give more information about the connection attempts. But I do not know if 5.1 had that option. If that option works on 5.1, it will give you the hostname it is trying to connect to. Then you can investigate either on that host or the network.

Run notepad as administrator if modifying cuda_supported_cards.txt after 6.03 update ...

Your mileage may vary ... When I originally installed CS6 on my new PC with a GTX 670 card I had to go edit the cuda_supported_cards.txt file and add the card; plus tweak the Nvidia settings (see link below). Anyway, tonight after I installed the 6.03 patch update I had to modify the file again. But I could not get notepad to save the file without an access denied error. Even though I installed the original program and patch update under my user name with administrator priveleges, I had to go back and run notepad as administrator. Just an FYI post in case someone runs into this issue.

You don't need to edit the file to recognize your card, simply delete the file and hardware MPE will be enabled! That's much easier.

Running Firefox without Administrator Permissions

I am an enterprise administrator and want my users to be able to run Firefox on their Windows 7 desktops. I have installed using elevated permissions but when the users try to open the application without admin permissions (they are members of the Remote Desktop Users group) it just presents a dialog box that says "Firefox has stopped working." Any suggestions?

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.
* Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
* "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected
Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).

HT1632 I can view a workout on my ipod touch history, but not in itunes or on nike+ website. I can't seem to upload this run and it's really annoying as I'm loosing about 12k of runs. It seems to happen when I program in a custom run. Can you help?

I have just done a custom run on my Ipod touch 2nd Gen of 12k. When I finished the run is appearing in my run history on my iPod touch, however it is not appearing in my itunes 'Nike+' tab, or on the Nike + website. I can't seem to get this run to sync and it is really annoying because I'll be loosing 12k. Can anyone help or has experienced this before? I know there are solutions to add runs to iPod nano's and older iPods using the 'Enable disk' and iPod_control function however from what I'm aware you cannot do this on an iPod touch. Can anyone please help?

You should really read the manual.

Restore. When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them. What program did you use to import them? Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Exception in Payment Proposal - Pmnt methods for this run are not specified

Dear all,
I want to ask if it is possible to run a payment proposal for AP transactions together with AR. The AR line items are used for clearing. Actually, this is the first time we execute proposal run which contains AP and AR respectively. And during the proposal, AR line item is an exception - 'Pmnt methods for this run are not specified in the master record or in item'. We already checked the master record, and there is a payment method. However, it was not captured during the payment proposal. Does it have something to do with the Document Type?

Thank you very much for your responses.
I've checked already FBZP and Customer Master Record, payment methods were defined. Also, during the payment run, all line items have the same payment method, but only the AR transaction was not accepted.
I think the problem is the same as what pushkaraj mentioned. We have payment method 'D' defined only for outgoing payments and not for incoming payments. I guess that is the problem.
By the way, can I create another entry 'D' for payment method-incoming payments? Would there be conflict if I assigned same ID?
