Various Following v6 Upgrade...

Hi All,
Previously, I was using RH v4 and recently upgraded to v6.
I started working on one of my existing projects (all
appeared to be fine!!!) and set up the RS version control system.
I have added several new topics and updated a number of the
existing ones and the first problem that I found was:
1 - In preview mode - images that were present as part of my
original topic would not display (although images inserted using v6
worked fine), I simply got an outline box the size and shape of the
graphic containing a red cross.
I checked the code on the new images compared with that of
the old and could not see anything obviously different! So I
decided to compile the project and see whether the problem remained
in the compiled HTML Help file, then I hit my next problem:
2 - It would not compile - I tried compiling it in all
formats but none worked - each time it fell over with 'Robohelp
HTML Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenince' then the software crashes
altogether!
So I checked on the forum for similar errors and didn't
really find any answers other than to try importing the topics in
batches into a new project and see whether that compiles - which I
am part way through doing at present (this is an exceeding
laborious job - it would be so much better if the software was able
to actually advise as to what exactly it is that it is having a
problem with!) and I have now discovered a third problem:
3 - In the compiled .chm generated from the 'new' project,
the 'Related Topics' buttons that I have included in all my topics
are ommitted!
Originally I though this might be because of issues with the
conversion from v4 to v6 so I attempted to add a new 'Related
Topics' button to one of my topics using v6 and even that does not
display in the compiled .chm file!
Another thing - and this is probably me forgetting where the
setting is - in my newly compiled .chm from my newly created
project, you have to double click on the topics and books in order
to access them - whereas in my previously compiled projects, a
single click did the trick!
I would be extremely grateful for any suggestions in respect
of the above mentioned issues as (having got past my initial
excitement at a new version) I am now finding the 'bug hunt' most
irritating.
Thanks as always in advance
Kind regards
Sherri

Hi Peter,
Thanks for responding to my query.
In answer to your question - no there is nothing in the
Output area (unless of course you are referring to when I attempt
the compile? In which case all it says is 'Updating files'). I have
never really taken a great deal of notice of this pane am I
supposed to do anything in particular to activate or refresh it -
or is it supposed to display information by default if there is an
issue with the selected topic?
However, I do have a suspicion regarding the images which do
not display and it is entirely possible that these are the ones
that having opened the project for the first time using v6, I
moved? When I originally created the project, the graphics were
stored in multiple folders which made it difficult for me to manage
so from the Project view, I moved any images that were not
originally stored inot my 'Images' folder so that they would all be
located centrally. This appeared to work fine, it didn;t cause any
broken links and when I checked the associated topics in WISIWYG
view, they looked fine - as did the TrueCode which correctly
pointed to the new location of the images. I didn't think to check
the preview at the time!
If this is the cause of the image display issue, how do I fix
it?

I do the download for the new version, it goes smooth, and then when I try to open it up, it pops up in my Task Manager for a moment and then disappears. No error messages, just disappears.

But did you repair Acrobat?  The Adobe PDF printer is a function of Acrobat, not Adobe Reader.  Uninstalling/reinstalling Acrobat does essentially the same thing as a repair, but takes a bit longer.

i can't access iPhoto following my upgrade to yosemite

The first thing to do:  Make a backup of your iPhoto Library. Don't update iPhoto without having a backup of your iPhoto library.
When I tried I received the following message This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
This error message means, that you did not yet associate your copy of iPhoto (preinstalled on your Mac) with your AppleID by clicking the "accept" button at AppStore "Purchased" page.
First try to "Accept" iPhoto on the Purchased tab and try, if you then can update iphoto from the Updates tab.
Now check the "Purchased" tab. Is iPhoto among your Purchases to "Accept" or "Install"? Then accept and/or install.
If it is not possible, delete iPhoto from the Applications folder .
    (don't empty the Trash).
If it is not among your Purchases, open the AppStore main tab, search for iPhoto using the Search field, and buy it from the AppStore. If you already owned any version of iPhoto '11, this purchase should be free, from earlier versions it may be a paid upgrade.
If all fails there is no help but contacting the App Store Support to sort out the AppleID. Use this link: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/

  • IPhone Email setup is hanging following iOS5 upgrade.

Or is it typical to take 90min+ for email to set up following the upgrade?

From another fellow Cox sufferer.. with MY exact same problem:
My ISP is Cox.net – a cable service provider. Until recently, I had been forwarding their messages to my me.com account to make less accounts on my iPhone. I cancelled the forwarding, and added cox.net to my iPhone. Everything works fine, except when I delete a message on my iMac cox account, it stays on my iPhone, and vice-versa.
Is there a way to make it so they will update that I have read and/or deleted a mail? My four other accounts do that. I did set to delete from server when removed from inbox in the advanced settings.
    Thanks!

  • LowMemory following HD upgrade

    Hi,
I've just upgraded my MBP 13 (mid 2009) hard drive with a western digital 750GB 5400rpm hard drive and every time i trun on the laptop following the upgrade, I get a "TextEdit" page with the heading 'LowMemory -2011-01-30-105055" then loads of coding on the page (which do not make any sence to me)..  any idea what this could be? Have I install the HD correctly? apart from the message its seems to be working fine.
I have also noticed that the new harddrive is slightly noiser than the original Seagate 160GB that came with the Macbook.  do you think it will settle in slowly? or the HD is faulty?  I read so many good review about WD harddrive.. and how quite they are .. I am bit lost. Please help..

Hi, Thanks for your prompt response.
I have the following menue appeared on TexEdit heading,
"Mosh's iPhone, Mobile Device, crash reporter, logos, library, azad6, users, WD (new hd), MA's Macbook pro".I have attached a photo for your info..
after installing the new 750GB hard drive I now have 619GB of free space avilable and  currently have 2GB of memory installed in the MBP.
Please note, before installing the new HD, i cloned the new drive using SuperDuper software, there was no TextEdit message with the old HD.

  • Is anyone else having problems running out of RAM following an upgrade to Mavericks and Server v3?

I recently upgraded to Mavericks on my iMac which was also running Server v2.  Following the upgrade to Mavericks I upgraded to Server v3 and have been suffering from constant errors where the computer complains that I have run out of RAM and suspends all applications until I restart the computer.  I cannot work out how to turn off or delete the Server and therefore cannot isolate the problem to OS X or Server.
Is anybody else experiencing the problem?  I am quite happy to delete the server running on the iMac as I only installed for experimental purposes and only really use it as a caching server at the moment.
    Any help gratefully received.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Ipod touch can no longer connect to XP following Apple upgrade, HELP !

This is a nightmare. My son has an ipod touch (8gb)purchased a couple of months, and it's been fine until a couple of days ago. I downloaded some music for him, and just about to synch when Apple informed me on itunes of a software upgrade, so naturally I did this. However, it could not complete it saying there was a problem installing the hardware. The ipod then had a permanent picture of a usb cable pointing towards the itunes logo. Itunes no longer recognises this ipod or my own ipod as a device.
I'm not a techhie expert, but I generally know my way around computers, however I could not resolve this.
I called the Apple technical support desk, where I spent 1 hour 45 minutes with 2 different advisors who could not resolve this. We installed and re-installed various components from drivers to itunes to anti virus software, however nothing could change. There was simply no recognition of the ipod at all when connected. It does give a pop up message to restore the ipod, however you can't actually click on the restore button because to have to get rid of the pop up message first, then the screen with the restore facility disappears.
Windows xp is continually popping up a message saying " FOUND NEW HARDWARE WIZARD There was a problem installing this hardware. Apple Mobile USB driver. An error occured during the installation of the device. The system cannot find the file specified."
You then have to click on finish, however the message keeps coming back. We kept going round and round in circles with the technical support people, where it was left that I should start removing programmes on my computer to see if any of those are causing a problem. I have had the same spyware for the last 12 months now and never had a problem before, nor any other programmes.
I booked a genius appointment at my local Apple store today where the assistant reset the ipod to factory settings so it could at least work. I explained the situation, however 15 minutes was never going to be long enough to look into it, and a restore was all they did. Obviously all of my programmes were lost, however when I got home and plugged it back into the computer again, it could not be recognised by itunes and i got the same pop up message. Luckily we have not spent alot on downloads, however my son has lost his music now and it cannot be connected or upgraded. It's under guarantee however a software upgrade by Apple has totally messed my computer up. I really don't know who to turn to now as both the service support and store has not rectified this, something I feel has been caused by Apple.
    Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Are other browsers, such as Firefox, also affected? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?

  • Following the upgrade to 34.0.5, I can no longer access web pages of our SAN, airco, vSphere Web Clients, etc. How can I correct this?

Following upgrade to 34.05, can no longer access web pages of the SAN management interface, the airco system, the vSphere Web Client, etc. All still work in Chrome.
The airco system gives an error:
Firefox cannot guarantee the safety of your data on 10.32.16.50 because it uses SSLv3, a broken security protocol.
    Advanced info: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap
The SAN management interface and vSphere Web Clients display an empty page. Not sure whether these also have problems due to SSLv3.
I understand you wanting to be cautious, but I seriously doubt I need to face an attack from our SAN. Please, at least give us an option to connect regardless.

hello, ssl 3.0 is disabled in firefox versions 34 & upwards by default - if you want to re-enable it you can do that like this which will make you vulnerable to the recently published poodle attack though:
enter '''about:config''' into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''security.tls.version.min'''. double-click it, change its value to '''0''' and restart the browser.

  • File Attachments in Conferences: Permissions don't follow when upgrading from 2010 to 2013

    Hello all,
Here at Unisys we are upgrading our Lync Enterprise Infrastructure from 2010 to 2013.  We have found that when we do this, any conference that has an attached file the permissions of the file do not follow.  The
options for a file permissions are Organizer, Presenter, and Everyone.  If in 2010 it is Everyone, after the upgrade, it is always reset to Organizer.  Not a big deal, but every user will need to be trained to
go back in and reset the permissions on the file, else, they will not be visible by the other conference attendees.
We have a case open with Microsoft on this, and I've scoured the web trying to find others that have seen this.  Any thoughts?
Thanks, and it's very cold in Texas today :-)
    Jason Weaver
    Jason J. Weaver

    Thanks for the update Eason.
Here are a few notes from the Msoft case that we are not 100% in agreement with:
This is not only in the case of migrating user
from 2010 to 2013. This happens even when the user is not migrated to 2013.
You can reproduce the behavior by joining the same meeting in 2010. This is a
default behavior of meeting configuration and this has been set this way for
security reasons so that if organizer is not present, nobody can view the
attachments without the permission of organizer.
However, when we test in our environment, we can add the attachment and like you say, it is set to EVERYONE.  When we exit the meeting and rejoin with OR WITHOUT the organizer present, the attachment is still there, Everyone can see it.
However, when we migrate users from 2010 to 2013, the attachments are set to organizer only.
Go figure.  Not the end of the world, we just need to make sure we are able to explain to our users that the attachments are still there and that the organizer of each meeting will need to go back in and re-permission each conference.
Take care, see you all in Vegas-

  • Various errors after upgrade (stale file handle, corrupt file)

    Hi,
I performed a system update a couple of days ago and since then have not been able to access certain directories (it seems to be only my home directory and any directory in my Dropbox) using graphical file browsers (tested with thunar and nautilus). I can access them through the command line just fine but graphical file browsers give me a "Stale file handle" error.
When I try to open a libreoffice application, I get the following error: "The application cannot be started. The configuration file "/etc/libreoffice/bootstraprc" is corrupt".
The relevant part of my pacman logfile looks like this:

Does anyone know what's going on?
Is there any more information I can provide that would assist diagnosis?

    Hi, thanks for the reply
    /etc/libreoffice/bootstraprc  looks like this:
    [ErrorReport]
    ErrorReportPort=80
    ErrorReportServer=report.libreoffice.org
    [Bootstrap]
    InstallMode=<installmode>
    ProductKey=LibreOffice 4.2
    UserInstallation=$SYSUSERCONFIG/libreoffice/4
    Is this of any use?
EDIT: through finding more applications that don't work I'm beiginning to suspect it is something to do with GTK. QT apps seem unaffected whereas GTK apps are all a bit upset. I can, for example, access my home directory just fine in dino (qt) and ranger (ncurses).
EDIT 2: It appears only gtk2 apps are affected. gtk3 apps seem OK
EDIT 3: I never found a solution, I reformatted the partition and started again (it was only my home partition). I am now back to using ext4.

  • Steps to follow in Upgrade from 4.7 to ECC 6.0

    Hi ,
As part of Upgrade from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 , Basis team completed Prepare module.
Now Prepare module report says there are some modifications need to be done .
Do i need to make the changes to the adjustments populated in SPDD/ SPAU transaction code before  basis team goes for Upgrade ?
If changes are applied to the modifications populated in SPDD / SPAU. How i need to transport these objects ?
Please let me know the steps need to take in transport of these objects .
    Cheers,
    Reddy

    Dear,
Transaction SPDD allows you to adjust modifications to ABAP Dictionary objects during an upgrade, the upgrade will stop at the begin of ACT_700 phase, so you can logon to shadow instance and perform the adjustments in SPDD.
About transaction SPAU that allows you to adjust programs, function modules, screens, interfaces, documentation, and text elements after an upgrade.
You have the option to include the SPDD request from previous upgrade,
The PREPARE includes the ADJUSTPRP phase for this purpose. In this
phase, the system searches the global transport directory for comparison
requests from previous upgrades and offers these for inclusion in the
upgrade. If you do not have this request, you may go ahead with the upgrade
and the proceed with the SPDD / SPAU adjustments during the upgrade.
Please refer to the following SAP Notes for more details:
68678   Exporting modification adjustment for 2nd upgrade
610311 Importing a modification adjustment in 2nd upgrade
124522 Importing a modification adjustment in 2nd upgrade
    I hope this helps.
