Vat u do when u find missing indexs as Basis guy.

Hello Gurus,
This question has been asked in an interview, and answer my friend gave
1q)    vat u do when u find missing index as Basis guy.?
A) He said he will locate the program table associated with it and let the programmer know about it,
especially if it is a Zprogram
to create an index on this. or if a programmer/ABAPEr creates a ticket for basis basis team will take care.
i know for sure depending on the role  ABAER or Basis also create an index.
2q) how do u create index
A) thru se11
3) y not thru oracle database
A) SAP recommends not to touch objects at database leve (select be ok )
After these questions my friend got doubt itseems for obvious reasons.
Please let me know ur comments insights into this. .

  • Missing index problem

    Hi Gurus!
I have a critical problem to solve.
I have a table without data which is inconsistent because it doesn't have the primary index. When i see missing indexes at DB02, the system tells me that the index is created, but when i go to SE14 and select the primary index, it says the index does not exists on the database and the only option that is active is the one to create the index. If I try to create the index, i get an error saying: there is already a  an object named 'zmed_distr~0' ( my index name ).
    Can anybody help me?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Finding missing photos when drive letter has changed

I have over 30,000 missing photos because LR only recognizes drive letters not names.  All my drives have a master "Image" directory with folders and subfolders.  Going to the LR online directory with name change and right clicking images and finding folder location does not work.  LR does not recognize folders or subfolders in the drive with a name change.  Usually none of the folder names are high lighted. By going to the "Missing Photographs" in the catalog menu and searching by file name I can find individual files but with over 30k missing files, this approach is not practical. I have an HP computer with Windows 7 and LR 5.7.  How do I find the photos?

I think the most straightforward way to sort this out is:
    1. Plug in all of your external drives.  From the screen shots, it looks like you have at most 5 external drives of interest, 2 that are currently online and 3 that are disconnected.  (I'm not counting the one external drive letter that has just one photo on it.)  How many external drives do you actually have?
    2. If you don't have enough USB ports, order a $12 USB hub from Amazon.
    3. Make sure the entire folder hierarchy for each drive is showing in the Folders pane as described here. When you're done, each drive in the Folders pane should have a top-level folder labeled with a drive letter (as with your F: drive in the screenshot above).
    4. Expand the entire folder hierarchy on each drive in the Folders pane by clicking the arrows to the left of the folder.
    5. For each drive, find one or more folders in its hierarchy that are closest to the top that have a "?" on them.  It may be the root folder labeled with the drive letter (e.g. "F:"), or it may be folders below the root folder.   For each such folder with a "?", right-click it and select Find Missing Folder.  That folder should be somewhere on one of the drives.  Use Windows File Explorer to help find where it is.
    6. When you're done with step 5, you should have located all missing folders and told LR where they are currently located.  But you may have missed some.   Do Library > Find All Missing Photos.
    7. Pick a photo from step 6.  Right-click it and do Go To Folder In Library.  If the folder in the Folder pane is marked with a "?", right-click it and do Find Missing Folder.   Otherwise, click the "!" on the photo and then click Locate.  Use Windows File Explorer to help find the missing photo by filename, if necessary.  Repeat until there are no more missing photos.
    8. Going forward, try to keep all your external drives connected.  To minimize drive-letter confusion in the future, rename the drive letters of the existing external drives to start from the end of the alphabet, changing each drive letter as described here.   When you change a drive letter, you'll need to re-locate its root folder as described in steps 3-5.   (Windows tends to use drive letters from C onward.)

  • Activity log for bug 278860: confusing "profile in use"/"already running" error when profile is missing (not found) did anyone find a fix for this? Thanks, Edie

bug 278860: confusing "profile in use"/"already running" error when profile is missing (not found)
Apparently the profile .default is missing. Therefore the bug 278860 is activated and I can't start Firefox. Is there a solution?

I did some googling and found alot of topics from you on this issue, to me it simply seems like on of the connectors is broken or loose.

  • Entire drive not available when finding missing folder

I keep my photos on an external hard drive so I can use Lightroom on my laptop and desktop computers.
I just opened up my catalog on my desktop, and as expected all of the pictures as flagged as missing (since the desktop mounts the external drive as a different drive letter than the laptop).  I right-click on the folders and select "Find missing folder", however the dialog that comes up only allows me to select folders in my user directory on my C drive.  There is no address bar, and none of my other drive partitions or the external hard drive show up as selectable options.
Here is an example of what I mean..

That's an LR bug which I think only affects Windows systems, and is caused by having too many icons on your desktop (no, I'm not kidding). Workaround/fix is either clean up you desktop a little (or a lot), or you can start typing the path to the external drive in the Folder box at the bottom of the dialog box and all will be revealed.

  • Creating Missing Indexes

I find a missing Index when I do Database check
    This is the error message:
"BR970W Database administration alert - level: ERROR, type: MISSING_INDEXES, object: (table) SAPR3.ZGMM0015"
    I executed Trx. DB02 - Missing Indexes - there I find
      --> Index missing under database
        --> primary index - 1
--> Z..... --> I selected this and clicked on "Create in DB".
Then it pops up a dialog box asking options like Online, Background .... (can I create this Index online)
from here what I needs to do.
Gurus can some one guide me.
    Thanks in advance

Looks like index is missing for the table.. When you get options like online, background, you may use online. It does not hamper the system.

  • Missing index entries

I have been working on a massive index (about 20,000 entries) on a ID CS6 document, a 700 page biological work of reference where all taxon names should be indexed. Took me several weeks. I produced the InDesign file from a Word file, but entered the index entries in InDesign (there weren't any in the Word file).
Now I found that many of my entries seem to have gone missing. They do not appear in the generated index. On the page where I entered it, the normal code (a ':' above a '^') is changed in a single ':'. I fear the last code, ':', means something like 'invalid marker', because they also appeared in another (crashed) CS6 document where they represented corrupted MS Word cross references (see "Cross references from a Word file", a still unanswered question on this forum). Normally when you select an index marker, the entry is highlighted in the Index Window. When I select the ':', nothing happens.
In the beginning of the book, I just marked any singular taxon name, but as it appeared that some taxon names appeared quite often, I started using the 'Add all' button in the index entry window. (I hope I use the right English names, they appear in Dutch for me.) This meant that some taxon names on earlier pages got double markers, but I thought that was no problem because the same markers on the same page only result in one entry in the generated index file. Could this be the bug that's biting me? I haven't found the problem in the later pages of the book.
A lot of the entries still found their way to the generated index, but of course I find this very worrying. Because I still have to process many author corrrections, I will have to generate the index again.
So, I have the following urgent questions:
    -     Why does this problem occur, under which circumstances? Will regenerating the index result in more loss of entries?
    -     Can those ':' markers corrupt my file in any way? What are they? (With the "cross reference problem", after some time I was unable to open the file again, which would with this project give me a major problem.)
    -     Can I somehow 'revive' the missing entries automatically? Or is there at least a way to search for the ':' markers? (They are hardly visible.)
    -     How can I prevent this from happening in the future?

    Thanks for the added details.

The version is 8.0.1, I always update when I'm prompted to do so by the update centre. As far as I know it is an international version.
Still, I would guess the InDesign developers could tell me something about that ':' marker. I suppose the software didn't invent it itself.

  • Missing Index in DB02

    Hi,
When I go to DB02->Diagnostics->Missing Tables and Indexes in our ECC6 system.
I see some missing primary and secondry indexes there.I also see option " Create on Db" there.
Please suggest should I create such indexes by option "Create in Db" and also suggest how SAP find out such missing indexes in Database,,, Does CheckkDB or Update stats provide this information to SAP.

  • DB statistic missing & Missing index for critical tables  after TDM refresh

    Hello SAP expert,
We have completed our refresh using TDM, but after the refresh we encounter problem at the receiver system,
    Issue Encounter
    1. System too slow
    2. When running tcode it resulted to time_out dump
    3. Db statistics are missing
    4. missing index for critical tables
Appreciate your help. How can we check tdm log if the data transfer really transferred or completed succesfuly.
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
We are looking the possible root cause of the issue, everything is fine in the target system before the refresh even the DB statistics update job is working fine before the refresh.
is there a way we could find logs or report from tdms server if there something happen during the execution of the tdm jobs or data selection and transfer. as we only find logs of the latest run. let say we execute the data transfer 4 times where we could find a report or logs stating the error or execution logs from the 2nd or on 3rd run?
    thanks

  • "Open VI Reference" Option "Prompt user to find missing subVIs"

I am using "Open VI Reference" to dynamically load a VI. For the "option" control of the "Open VI Reference" node, I pass "0x10" or "10" in hexadecimal, which supposedly "prompt user to find missing subVIs." Nevertheless, I don't get a prompt message dialog when I intentionally pass an invalid or missing VI path. Instead I just get an Error Code 7. What does this option "Prompt user..." suppose to do?

Make sure you set the properties on the integer input into the “options” control to the “Open VI Reference” to be a Hexadecimal format (right-click on the “options” control input, select Format and Precision…, then select Hexadecimal). Now, if you re-run your VI and wire in a VI with a missing subVI, the Open VI Reference will appear with a dialog that will prompt you to browse to the missing subVI. This is exactly the same message LabVIEW displays when it attempts to open a VI and cannot find its subVIs.
I’ve attached a simple example program to demonstrate. Enter the path to the “number extractor.vi” as the VI to open. You should see a dialog prompt appear asking for the “Search 1D Array – Complete.vi”.
    Hope this helps!

  • Script to find duplicate index and how can we tell if an index is REALLY a duplicate?

Does any one have script to find duplicate index? and how can we tell if an index is REALLY a duplicate?
    Rahul

One more written by Itzik Ben-Gan
The first query finds exact matches. The indexes must have
the same key columns in the same order, and the same included columns but in any order.
These indexes are sure targets for elimination. The only caution would be to check for index hints.
    -- exact duplicates
    with indexcols as
select object_id as id, index_id as indid, name,
(select case keyno when 0 then NULL else colid end as [data()]
    from sys.sysindexkeys as k
    where k.id = i.object_id
    and k.indid = i.index_id
    order by keyno, colid
    for xml path('')) as cols,
(select case keyno when 0 then colid else NULL end as [data()]
    from sys.sysindexkeys as k
    where k.id = i.object_id
    and k.indid = i.index_id
    order by colid
    for xml path('')) as inc
    from sys.indexes as i
    select
    object_schema_name(c1.id) + '.' + object_name(c1.id) as 'table',
    c1.name as 'index',
    c2.name as 'exactduplicate'
    from indexcols as c1
    join indexcols as c2
    on c1.id = c2.id
    and c1.indid < c2.indid
    and c1.cols = c2.cols
    and c1.inc = c2.inc;
The second variation of this query finds partial, or duplicate, indexes
    that share leading key columns, e.g. Ix1(col1, col2, col3) and Ix2(col1, col2)
would be considered duplicate indexes. This query only examines key columns and does not consider included columns.
These types of indexes are probable dead indexes walking.
    -- Overlapping indxes
    with indexcols as
select object_id as id, index_id as indid, name,
(select case keyno when 0 then NULL else colid end as [data()]
    from sys.sysindexkeys as k
    where k.id = i.object_id
    and k.indid = i.index_id
    order by keyno, colid
    for xml path('')) as cols
    from sys.indexes as i
    select
    object_schema_name(c1.id) + '.' + object_name(c1.id) as 'table',
    c1.name as 'index',
    c2.name as 'partialduplicate'
    from indexcols as c1
    join indexcols as c2
    on c1.id = c2.id
    and c1.indid < c2.indid
    and (c1.cols like c2.cols + '%'
    or c2.cols like c1.cols + '%') ;
Be careful when dropping a partial duplicate index if the two indexes differ greatly in width.
For example, if Ix1 is a very wide index with 12 columns, and Ix2 is a narrow two-column index
that shares the first two columns, you may want to leave Ix2 as a faster, tighter, narrower index.

  • Missing indexes after system copy

    Hi All
we have around 70,000 missing indexes after the system copy
    offline export from
    source with sun solaris oracle
    To
    Linux oracle
but these appeared after we Run  SGEN , which took 60 hours for a 200 Gb database.
and target system response is also slow , how to go ahead with this issue
we have checked export and import logs , none of the packages were missed
1 Why these missing indexes after SGEN , and why SGEN for 60 hours
2  when we check the Tables which appeared in Missing indexes ,from SE14  it says In Consistency with Data dictionary
3  and the other error , is  Index Missing in the database ,
4  but we cant create all these manually.
    Regards

    Hi Matt
    Thanks for the response
After sap suggestion  , we have done only import again, with 721 R3load same as export.
but still the R3load.exe.log of import shows as done with 720 kernel.
    import R3load.exe log       //bas/720_REL/src/R3ld/R3load/R3ldmain.c#
    export R3load.exe log     //bas/721_REL/src/R3ld/R3load/R3ldmain.c#10 $ SAP
But when we compare  the sapinst_dev and AGR logs both from export and import
both are referring the same 721 R3load version ,
    //bas/721_REL/src/R3ld/R3load/R3ldmain.c
still we have same missing indexes issue , after we did the import again.
Are we making any mistakes in export  , Any suggestions are welcome
hi all , kindly respond with your inputs , on this

  • Missing Indexes in Database

    Hi,
In tcode DB02, when seeing database statistics, i found that there were some missing indexes in database. ie., for some tables there are no indexes created.
Please tell me whether we need to create indexes or not. Is there any serious effect of a table not having any index?
Please suggest me a good solution for this.
    Thanks,
    Sailesh K

Not necessarily.  You must decide if an index will assist in making a table scan faster. FULL table scans indicate that an index is not available.  Creating an index in this case, will improve preformance and prevent full table scans from occuring.
Also, check oracle to see if the index exists.  Somestimes the Data Dictionary is unaware of the index due to how it ws created.
In summary missing indexes are not a problem.  FULL table scans are problems and require new indexes to be created for performance reasons.
    Hope this helps.

  • Check Missing Indexes

    Hi All,
We have a Database with many tables using foreign keys. Some of my queries from coldfusion are slow. We are using 11g version.
It's a way to check for missing indexes?
I would like to help the database to perform better, I know this is a huge topic but as new in oracle I need to start somewhere.
Any links or comments will be appreciate it.
    Regards
    Johnny

i have created a two step process for finding which Foreign key is not indexed
    1. create a table having the ddl of all indexes
    CREATE TABLE INDEX_TXT_TBD AS
    SELECT DBMS_METADATA.GET_DDL('INDEX',INDEX_NAME) TXT FROM USER_INDEXES WHERE INDEX_TYPE='NORMAL' AND INSTR(INDEX_NAME,'$') = 0
    2. create a table which will tell the tablename, columnname (FK) who are not indexed
    CREATE TABLE INDEX_TBD AS
    select distinct
         user_cons_columns.TABLE_NAME,
         user_cons_columns.COLUMN_NAME
    from
         user_cons_columns,
         user_constraints,
         INDEX_TXT_TBD,
    where
         user_constraints.CONSTRAINT_NAME=user_cons_columns.CONSTRAINT_NAME
         and CONSTRAINT_TYPE='R'
         AND INSTR(TXT,'"' || user_cons_columns.TABLE_NAME || '" ("' || user_cons_columns.COLUMN_NAME || '")') = 0
