[VB CS3] Place text in Headless/Faceless Documents

Hi,
I wonder if the Place method (for Tagged Text) is not allowed in headless documents? I do realise that an insertion point is needed, maybe only Server is alllowed to set a selection?
MyIndi.Place gives "No documents are open"
MyIDDoc.Place gives "import failed"
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Can you place text from a word document using data merge?

I'm working with a charity that is giving away scholarships/grants. I need to create a ducument that pulls in various application data plus their submitted essay (docx format). I would like to do this via data merge but cannot find any reference if it is possible.
Please help, I really need to automate as much as possible since this is a side project.

Data merge only collects info from CSV format - which I expect you would export from Excel. (I think it'll take tab-delimited as well, but that's it.)
MS Word files can be placed, but Data Merge is not the tool to automate placing of Word-file content. If there is no formatting of their essays, I suspect you could use VBA to cause entire essays to occupy a single cell in Excel. But that would be the only way to use Data Merge to automate import of essays into InDesign.
Maybe if you tell us more we can give you some more automation suggestions. (I spend a lot of time automating translation workflows, but I still place Word files. All day long, in fact.)

Placing Text - When I try to Place Text Nothing Happens

I am trying to place text into an InDesign document. When I do File-Place, the "place" menu flashes on the screen and then disappears and nothing happens, so I am not able to place the text into InDesign. With other Word files there is no problem. It's just with some Word files that this is happening. Would this be a problem with the Word files that I have from this specific person? Maybe there are some settings on Word files that are not accepted by InDesign's "File-Place"? Or is there a setting on InDesign that is causing the "place" menu to flash and disappear?

When you select place, on the place window that appears near the bottom, there is "Show Import Options". Make sure to select this option and apply all appropriate options needed for import, then select file and place.

Item text inconsistency for multiple item text in CRM Billling document

Hi Experts,
I am facing problem in adding item text in CRM Billiing document in Web UI.There are 3 line items in my billing document and their item text gets determined from Billing due list items but there is a requirement to change the item text at billling documnet level also to populate it in the invoice.Here comes the problem when I change item text of first item system alllows me to change in text type Sales Text but when I am doing the same with suceeeding items it throws me a exception like this.

The above given thread is the perfect solution for your requirement.
Defaulting some data in the text field means, either you can use the the Substitution / BTE.
Using the substitution, system not allows you to change the text field in case of any modification you want. But with the BTE you can specify only at the time of the document posting.
BTE is the best option in this case.

How do l delete all the text in my InDesign document in one go?

I managed to get the solution to my formatting problems for my book in InDesign CS6. I'm scared that with all the messing about something may have gone wrong. Is there a quick way to just delete the text - ie leave headers, footers and page numbering in place as well as the settings for automatically adding page numbers. I tried to sort this last night but the only solution I found seemed to want to take the whole page out and I don't want to go through all the setting up of headers, footers, page numbering and of course all the associated place holders. Anyone got a solution?

I'm not sure I completely understand. The file is simply a 200 page+ Word document that was autoplaced in InDesign. You've been really helpful to me with this In Design document - thankyou. What I'm getting at is that because I increased the gutter size to comply with printing specifications after I placed the Word document for the first time - some text that was on page 100 and was the start of a chapter - and therefore had no header, now appears on page 110 in the new file which in the original placing of the text had got a header and footer on. All I want to do is delete the story text - ie the Word document that was autoplaced.

Even simpler than that.
Clicking once in a text box selects it.
Clicking once in a selected text box places the insertion point in the box.
The clicks do not need to be close enough in time to be read as a double click.
The same behaviour applies to table cells in Pages and in Numbers.

CS3 Extended - TEXT error coming up

Error reads -
Could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from being initialized !
I have tried it a variety of ways, opened photoshop and reopened with no luck with using text.
Any one have this same issue and have any ideas to how to fix it?
I downloaded the trial version of CS3 extended.
Just trying to type over an image for copyright, just a standard jpeg image file.

I just began getting this error also. It started when I installed Audition 2.0 (if that has anything to do with it) I noticed Premiere Pro began acting strangely, so I reinstalled that, now Premiere won't start at all. Then I noticed Photoshop behaving strangely. I've tried repairing Photoshop CS3, did not work. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop CS3. Did not work. I can't place text on any image, even a new one. This is really frustrating.

You will need to export the text from Indesign as either .rtf or .doc files and import those.
You can also cut and paste but I assume you have already tried these options and are not happy with the result, but haven't said why.

If the PDF is not an IMAGE, you can using a free program called PDF-XChange Viewer from Tracker Software. If the PDF was done as an image then you will not be able to select the text.

Configuration to copt the text to the Payment document (F110)

Could you pls let me know the configuration/process to copy the text to the payment document while we run automatic payment program (F110) from Invoice.

Hi Gopi,
The information you get in the payment file is dependend by country (the program that create the file).
In SAP you hav the "old" payment programs and the work branche. In the first one you are dependend form the program and in the wok branche you define what you want.
Normal the information in the payment file is the reference field from the document header or the text on line when that start with an * (in this situation you set in the vendor, indv payment).
In customizing (payment program) you say how many items can be payd on the line item. The max is the space you have in the payment file to fill in the text (in our case 7 invoices).
Then you have the option create more payment lines (11 invoices is to payment lines in the file) or to create a payment advice that you have to sent to you vendor

Customer Master - Sales text copy to Sales Document Header

Hello,
I have properly configured the text types, access sequences, and text procedures to take text from the Customer - Sales & Distribution and copy to the Sales Document Header. After testing this in my DEV system, everything is working appropriately.
I have transported these changes to my QA system, all transports went through successfully. All configuration is now the same between my DEV and QA systems, and the access sequences are recognized in both systems via the TTXERN table.
All changes were made using transaction VOTXN.
The problem is that when performing my test in QA, the text is not copied from the Customer Master - Sales Area text to the Sales Document Header text. When going to the Text Determination Analysis view, it states 111 - Access Sequence does not exist. When selecting Customizing, it clearly shows that the access sequences do exist.
Has anyone encountered this issue? I have checked SAP notes but have not found a proper resolution for this issue.

Read OSS Note 1002455 - Errors in texts: Messages VX 201, VX 111, and VX 205 and Note 1002664 - FAQ: Text determination problems after upgrade.
Also check OSS Note 581779 - Text determination analysis: Access sequence does not exist.
One more OSS Note 970153 - Change to Customizing text not transferred to target system may also apply to your scenario.

Can't copy text in a preview-document opened in Safari.

Since the last upgrade of safari (I think) I can't copy text in a preview document opened in Safari. Can I adjust anything in the preferences or is there any other solution to get the normal behaviour back?

Quit Safari.
Open the Library folder in your home folder as follows:
☞ If running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar.
☞ If running an older version of Mac OS X, select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar and enter “~/Library” (without the quotes) in the text box that opens.
Delete the following items from the Library folder:
Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
Preferences/QuickTime Preferences
Relaunch Safari and test.

I don't know which Mac you have, but if you have an intel, update to 10.7 and you can use the function called Versions, which autmatically saves a version of your text, and you can revert to it when needed.

Inserting text to Acrobat PDF document, not able to create PDEText.

I have created a plugin for Acrobat, On press of MyPlugin's 'Insert' button it has to add the text to the document.
Eg: If there is a Active PDF document, which contains a text "Hello" in it. I want to insert "World" (i.e, the document should have "Hello World") when i click 'Insert' button.
