Vbios.dll?
I am running Windows XP Pro, over a K7N420Pro and a GF4MX440T, both from MSI, both are Live Update series... I have tested all the versions of Live Update that had been published. And, what do I get? Just an error saying "VBIOS.dll load failed". So Live Monitor and Live Update never finds any update (dead or aLive Update).
Any workaround???
?(
Yes, I am jumping all over the forum! :D
Well, the new version will be 3.30 again?? I suppose it will have a minor version number somewhere... Too many years programming to believe that the proud of a programmer will let a new version (or minor version) release without a version number increase... :D :D :D
I'll be waiting anxiously the update... Hope they release it soon! :(

Hi everyone,
I just brought a MSI video card, the G4Ti4200-VTP (MS-8886). After I have install the Live Update 2, a message pop up, "VBIOS.dll load failed". I was unable to use any of the Live Update function. Furthermore, when I try to see the MSI Information and MSI clock through the display option, the system crushed. A message saying something like Run dll as AP .......
Please Help!!!!!
My PC
CPU 2.0 Intel
OS Win XP
RAM 512
Mother board, Asus with SIS 648 chipset.I would recommend uninstalling the Live update feature software and just load the latest drivers from nvidia or look on the internet for other beta drivers like the 40.72.
You can find them at sites like http://www.xp-erience.org/
Or better yet: http://www.guru3d.com/files/detonator/
Forget about all that other stuff for now 8) -
Vbios.dll load failed error
i have an MSI G4MX440 graphics card and loaded Msi live monitor and when winxp starts it gives me a vbio.dll load failed error.
also, whenever I try using the monitor or Live update2 utility, i get the same...
I also, installed the 3d turbo experience! program and whenever I start it, it freezes my comp.!
please help someone, I am getting discouraged!
I have tried downloading the newest versions of each to no avail.!!!! ?(Hey guys,
It is very hard to follow everyones system. Lets have everyone get on the same drivers and I will work it with all of you from there.
First get the latest Motherboard Drivers. Install them.
Then get the nVidia DetonatorFX Drivers. Install them.
Then delete the file msicpl.dll from your windows directory.
Uninstall the turbo3d and any other 3rd party software that is some sort of a video utility. Do not forget to uninstall Live Update also.
If you need the extra features for overclocking etc. open notepad and copy this into it exactly as I have it quoted:

Save it to your desktop with the name agpsetting.reg and run it.

What is VBios.dll?
I've just bought a MSI Ti 4200 VTD8X card and when I try to install the Utilities I keep getting an error message that says VBIOS.dll load failed. So when I try to use Live update it says my card wont support it? The same error message appears when I boot up my machine just before the Live Monitor loads also.
can someone help please?
ThanksTony Williams,
Try using the latest DetonatorFX Drivers from the nVidia Website.
Also please list you hardware, OS and Power Supply.

MSI GeForce4 Ti-4200 128M 8X software
Here is the deal. The card install went well. MSI driver installs, but the MSI info and Clock tabs are inop. Upon selection, I get an error message, app .... .dll error
and when i install the MSI live update it shows an VBIOS.dll error and will not run at all. The 3D Desktop application is also inop, crashes browser instantly. Is this software compatible with Windows XP home SP1? If I have to go in and delete dll registry entries, than I have defeated the purpose of the software/card package. That is the reason I chose MSI over Asus.
The card benchmarks well, and works very well with the Nvidia detonator drivers. Leads me to believe that this a software problem. ?(

MSI GF4 Ti-4200 doesnt work with WindowsXP
I can't get the MSI display tools to work - it crashes,
the vbios.dll doesnt load, it also crashes.
the tv in doesnt work ,it crashes
the tv out doesnt work ,it crashes.
all the supplied software also crashes "application has encountered an error and cannot continue. sorry for any inconvenience"
the intervideo software (windvr, wincoder, winproducer) and MSI PVI software all crashes as well.
what's the deal with this stuff? ?(
I have a Dual AMD athlon Tyan thunder k7 motherboard,
MSI Ti-4200-VTD video card and MSI tv anywhere card.
is there any resolution for this?I'm sorry gfilitti if I don't have my system listed, but I thought my question was pretty simple...
Has ANYONE been able to make the InterVideo WinProducer 2 software, that comes with the retail version of the MSI G4Ti4200-VTD64 card, work successfully under the Windows XP Home or Pro operating system?
If the answer is YES, then I will begin investigating why my system can't.
If the answer is NO, then I only ask for other people's recommendations of what software WILL work in place of that. I NEED those functions to work. That's why I paid extra for the VIVO.
All we've heard so far in this thread are NO votes. I would like to see just how widespread this is. If I can find ONE person who claims it works fine on his/her computer under Windows XP, then my NEXT question would be if they had to do anything different to make it run, or was it just a straight install? Did they add the program patch available from the MSI website? See where I'm going with this?
If you would REALLY like my system details, here ya go...

BTW, I would think when investigating a program's FLAT refusal to run, that the MOST important things aren't listed in these signature files. It has to do with what ELSE is running at the same time. Which services are running and which are NOT? What memory resident programs are loaded at boot-up? Any service packs installed? How about any security patches from Microsoft? Which anti-virus software (if any)? Which DirectX version? Personal firewall? Etc., etc.
Granted, the hardware DOES have a factor, but I feel all of these are MORE important factors than the speed or brand of a persons hardware. I look at the signitures more as bragging rights than anything else.
Now, this is just my opinion and may not reflect the feelings of the more sane people around me.

I don't recommend installing VIA chipset drivers on a SIS chipset motherboard, please refer to the ASUS website for support and documentation on your motherboard....better yet, take the system to a qualified technician because from your posts, I have come to the conclusion you do not have the experience necessary to rectify your problem. -

MSI tabs in Display properties
whenever i try to use the msi tabs in the display properties i get this error
Run a DLL as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close.
and when i click on the button to see what data the error report contains i get this information
AppName: rundll32.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600.0 ModName: msicpl.dll
ModVer: 1.0.0.1 Offset: 00004261
I am running winxp and have re-installed it a few times to see if that would fix the problem, then i tried taking the card out and putting it back in, but no luck either, I have the newest drivers as well and nothing works,
any idea anyone???Hi guys,
I posted something about this exact problem...
Hi everyone...
I just bought an MSI GF4 TI-4200 128 and have the same problem. Running XPPro, fresh install. I was running MSI GF3 TI-200 64 before with same OS and had no problems with either the properties and the MSI Live Update 2. Now, when I try and access the MSI properties in the Display properties, I get that same error (see at beginning of thread) and the window will close. When I try and use the MSI Auto Update, I get the vbios.dll could not be loaded or found... (or something similar) and can't use the Update. I "bypassed" the problem by loading the NVIDIA drivers instead of the MSI ones and it works like a charm now...
I am pretty sure that the MSI drivers would have worked anyhow but I have'nt tried them. BTW, I can access the NVIDIA properties no problem!
I will also send a request to MSI to let them know that I am now aware of this "known" problem and am awaiting a fix for this... I will also check with ASUS for a motherboard compatibility issue.
XPPRO fully patched
MoBo Asus P4B-533 (latest bios, 1007 I think)
512 DDR-2100
Sound Blaster 128
Maxtor 40gigs 7200
Intel P4 1.7
PS 300W Antec
etc...etc...
To Moderators: Is there a fix for this and if not, could you let me know (by link, email or post) what could be the problem (i.e.: ASUS moBo.)? I am quite content on using NVIDIA drivers but still, my inquisitive nature is acting up...
I haven't tried yet but will I be able to Flash my VGA bios if I have that problem? (is this VGA card related or a compatibility issue with something else?) -
Ti4200-VTD8X (MS-8894) video capture
Hi,
I've just bought this video card (in the subject), that is working well normally, but the video capture function is not working. When I try to launch the capture driver properties with Winproducer, my computer becomes very slow and instable, the screen is blocked during long seconds, or my computer is rebooting alone. It's unable to capture video.
I tried with 31.00 original MSI drivers, and with lastest nVidia drivers, the result is the same.
I have an Abit NF7-S motherboard (nVidia nForce2), is there any incompatibility between both ?
And as ever seen in a past message in this forum, the Live Update 2 software is not working with this video card when it try to connect the server "this video card is not MSI", something like that.
The patch for Winproducer that I have downloaded on the MSI website is not working too with the Winproducer version on the CDROM bundle.
Would anyone help me to find the lastest VGA BIOS for this card, because Live Update is not working. Does anyone has the same problem in capturing video with this card, or is it a bug of my card ?
Thanks
Jean - FRANCESymptoms:
1. Live Update 2 install results with VBIOS.DLL error.
2. Vid Capture locks up Winproducer.
I've tried:
1. Reinstalled various versions of WDM capture drivers (1.08, 1.11, 1.18, 1.22)
2. Reinstalled various versions of nVidia drivers. (MSI 3100, 41.09)
3. Swapped out power supply
4. Updated MB BIOS
5. Installed Bundled Winproducer software and applied MSI patch. (Patch fails to install)
6. Format HD - Reinstall Windows and repeated all steps.

Be kind and release a 'Known Issues' memo. Especially with XP and various mobos. At least get it out in the open so we know that somehow they are acknowledged and perhaps will be addressed.
That way, I can finally 'give up' ;(
1. VBIOS.DLL issue.. Workaround?
2. Vid Capture (Feature incompatibilities with mobos?)
3. etc..Quote

VBIOS.dll with Live update installed fine on my A7V board. (but it still says I don't have an MSI board)
Vid Capture works on my A7V.
And. it all works on 300 W PS.
250W PS is probably fine, too unless you have LOTS of stuff hooked up to it, like fans and additional drives and OC'ing, but the +- Voltage can make cause odd failures and that goes for any PS rating. So recommending MORE watts is not necessarily an answer, asking what the +- voltage may give a better indication of a unreliable PS. Perhaps someone can post a few monitoring utilities.
Maybe I should go out and get a 800W PW.. hmm. -
Everytime I start window xp the message vbios.dll failed messages appear, and If i go into display and select those 2 additional MSI options it get an error and the thing closes... any solution to this?

I bought the G4 Ti4200 with VIVO I have tried installing every known Nvidia driver and MSI driver. However when liveupdate runs I get VBIOS.DLL Load Failed! and if i go to display properties and try clicking on any MSI tab IE MSI CLOCK or MSI Information I get an error saying An error occurred while windows was working with the control panel file C:\WINNT\System32\Desk.cpl
I have reinstalled my operating system not once not twice but 3 times!!! and the same thing happens each time.
I cannot use any MSI utilities either.I am running Windows 2000 My motherboard is an ASUS A7S333 Athlon XP 1600 256 Megs RAM 60 gigs hard drive space G4 Ti4200
MSI's Support Email address returns my mail as undeliverable. As well as there little contact form.
I cannot find ANY help ANYWHERE on these issues.Don't worry about Live Update. It works on my system, but maybe because I have an MSI motherboard as well and the version on the CD is corrupted or something. You could see if there is a version to download off of their webpage.
In any case, there are no new BIOS released for the 8886, according to Live Update.
For drivers, just get them from nVidia. I find that nView works best for me on 41.03. I haven't tried the VIVO functions yet, so I can't speak for them.
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/e_service/forum/viewindex.php?threadid=8044&boardid=9&styleid=1
That URL shows how to ditch the MSI tabs and install nVidia overclocking tools. I haven't gotten around to trying to overclock yet, myself, but you're welcome to try. -
I am experiencing problems with a new MX440 and cannot resolve it. I attempted to submit a request via the MSI website, but it never returns a response once the information is submitted. I sent an email to the support account - no response. I posted in another thread where other people experienced a similar problem (MSI Clock). The only resolution (in that thread) was to install Win98.
What do I do? I think my only option is to return the card and NEVER buy another MSI product for myself or a customer. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Problems:
1. Most games will not play properly, or will only play for a few minutes. Including the games provided with the card. "No One Lives Forever" flickers really bad and locks up (or blue screens). Similar behavior with Giants, Diablo II, et al.
2. The "MS Information" and "MSI Clock" Display Properties crash the control panel application with the following error: "An error occurred while Windows was working with the Control Panel File c:\winnt\system32\desk.cpl". I am not able to view or modify these settings.
3. Live Update Fails with a VBIOS.DLL failure.
4. 3D Turbo crashes the IE 5.5 window when started.
I upgraded the bios on both the MB and video card. I installed the latest drivers for the video card. I've tried every combination of scan rate, screen resolution and 16/32 bit. I prayed.
It's only the 3d apps or apps that are video intensive that have a problem. All other applications work great.
My Configuration:
ASUS P4S333 Motherboard Rev 1.xx (Award Medallion V6.0 BIOS - revision 1006C - 4/19/2002)
300W power supply
Intel P4 1.7GHz

MSI MX440-T AGP (PCI Mode) Bios V4.17.00.24 / nv4_disp.dll v6.13.10.300
ViewSonic GS771 Monitor running at 1152x864 32 bit 60H scan rate
Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live 5.1 sound card
Windows 2000 Professional
DirectX 8.1Hi ,
It seems I have the same problem than you; in addition I also have a ASUS P4S333 motherboard; running XP Pro.
Well my problem is really with 3D games, all of them, even those distributed with the graphic card. I am trying to get help from MSI and ASUS on that problem; before going back to the shop for getting a replacement card to test it will change something or getting a new card.
what I have tried is NOT installing MSI drivers since it adds some option in the display menu and constantly crash it when they are selected (MSI info and MSI clock)., got driver directly from MSI from 27.xx to 30.xx, try them all with "no one lives forever" and Medal of Honor with always the same results....freezing screen after 5-30 minutes of games.
I was wondering of a fan problem, that the GPU will get too hot , and you will get the typical freezing bug; however, if the image remains frozen (almost, because it is still working, but it is really slowwwwwwwwwww.), the sound is still playing properly, so the CPU is OK; it seems to be hardware GPU problem....
Did you solve your problem??
if yes what was the solution
Thanks in advance for your answer
Eric

New Dual Core Center "it rocks"
There is a new dual core center on MSI's 975x Power up page http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/download/dld/spt_dld_detail.php?UID=746&kind=1
I have tested it quite a bit today .. it rocks...
Everything works ...
It even recognizes my non-MSI Nvidia video card...
Just take the time to set up your separate profiles and save them, otherwise you will keep booting into MSI's default..
So set up your own profiles...
This is the first time that this application has ever worked properly for me ..
and it is great ..
Download it and enjoy...
Be safe and Have funThe old version that was on the site was 1.0.2.4, this version is 2.0.0.2
Here is what was fixed since that version, taken from the patch notes:
