VBox multiple NICs per Guest/Desktop
Hi all,
How could I persistently add additional network interfaces to a VBox Desktop.
I changes this by utilising the VirtualBox Interface, but this normally doesn't work as far as reading
http://wikis.sun.com/display/VDI3dot1/I+can+see+my+VirtualBox+hosted+desktop%2C+but+it+will+not+start implies that per default a desktop will be unregistered from the Vbox host upon powering it down.
I can't see how to do this via VDI Manager WebUI.
Someone a better idea?
Regards,
Zoltan
Hi Zoltan,
You shouldn't need to edit virtual machine settings via the VirtualBox UI at any point, this should always be done via VDI. As you've seen, desktops do not remain registered on a VirtualBox host after being shutdown/powered-off. This allows VDI to select the VirtualBox host with most resources on the next start (load balancing).
To configure networking, first visit the Desktop Provder-> Networking tab. This will show available networks in the system, an aggregation of each VirtualBox host.
Specific network interfaces or subnets can be configured for each Pool by navigating to the Pool->Settings tab. First you will need to select 'Host Networking', then the networks you wish to be enabled for all desktops in the Pool.

ISE 1.2 - Multiple NICs/Load Balancing for DHCP Probe
Hello guys
Just prepping an ISE 1.2 patch 8 setup in our organization. I am going for the virtual appliances with multiple NICs. It will be a distributed deployment with 4 x PSNs behind a load balancer and there is no requirement for wireless or guest user at the moment. I've got 2 points I will like to get some guidance on:
Our DC has a dedicated mgmt network and I plan to IP the gig0 interface of the PANs, MNTs and PSNs from this subnet. All device admin, clustering, config replication, etc will be over this interface. However, RADIUS/probe/other user traffic to the ISE PSNs will be over the gig1 interface which will be addressed from another L3 network. Is this a supported configuration in ISE?
I intend to use the DHCP probe as part of device profiling and will ideally like to have just an additional ip helper to add to our switch SVI config. Also, it will appear that WLCs can only be configured for 2 DHCP servers for a given network so another consideration for when we bringing our WLAN in scope. We however use ACE load balancers within our DC and from what I have read, they do not support DHCP load balancing. Are there any workarounds to using the DHCP probe with multiple PSNs without having to add each node as an ip helper/DHCP server on the NADs?
Thanks in advance
SayreHello Sayre-
For Question #1:
Management is restricted to GigabitEthernet 0 and that cannot be changed so you should be good there
You can configure Radius and Profiling to be enabled on other interfaces
Even though you are not using guest services yet, you can dedicate an interface just for that. As a result, you can separate guest traffic completely from your production network
Take a look at this link for more info:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/ise/1-2/installation_guide/ise_ig/ise_app_c-ports.html
For Question #2
If you are using a Cisco WLC and running code 7.4 and newer you don't need to mess with the IP helper configurations.
The controller can be configured to act as a collector for client profiling and interact with the DHCP thread along with the RADIUS accounting task that is running on the controller. The controller receives a copy of the DHCP request packet sent from the DHCP thread and parses the DHCP packet for two options:
–Option 12—HostName of the client
–Option 60—The Vendor Class Identifier
After this information is gathered from the DHCP_REQUEST packet, a message is formed by the controller with these option fields and is sent to the RADIUS accounting thread, which is in turn transmitted to the ISE in the form of an interim accounting message.
Both DHCP and HTTP profiling settings are located under the "Advanced" configuration tab in the WLC
On the other hand, you can also use Anycast for profiling. You can check out some of Cisco Live's sessions for more info on that. Here is one that is from a couple of years (There are more recent ones that are available as well):
http://www.alcatron.net/Cisco%20Live%202013%20Melbourne/Cisco%20Live%20Content/Security/BRKSEC-3040%20%20Advanced%20ISE%20and%20Secure%20Access%20Deployment.pdf
I hope this helps!

Hi
We are just putting in a new Controller - 5500 type
We are using a WCS .
Someone has raised the issue of whether we can have multiple vlans
per SSID - as otherwise we may have very large broadcast domains
due to the overall design being to have Maybe 3 SSIDs
Guest
Staff
Engineering
I think in SWAN we could get away with dynamic vlans.
We would like to have multiple vlans in each SSID to avoid the above.
Can we do this in the new setup.
Kind Regards
SteveHi Steve,
yes it works just the same.
Enable AAA override on the controller and have interfaces configured for each vlan. Then the ACS can simply push the vlan depending on the user authentication. Users are then split in separate vlans.
Another way of doing is to group APs. You can have a group of APs serving SSID Guest in vlan 1, Employee in vlan 2 and another group of APs serving the same SSIDs but in vlan 3 and 4. It's "per-user" vlan load balancing or "geographic" vlan load balancing.
However, broadcast domains should not be a major concern in wireless as broadcasts are blocked by default. The WLC will proxy for ARP and DHCP.

Printing multiple pages per sheet using a PostScript driver and GhostScript.
I have three PDF files containing a total of 165 pages. I would like to print 162 of these pages onto two sides of a 8.5 × 11 in. "Letter" size paper. That is 81 pages per sheet. I don't care about loss of clarity or readability, just that fact that there are 81 (or I suppose 80 would be possible and would fit much nicer) pages of the document shown. I've seen this done before, so it is possible. It involved printing using a PostScript driver. I don't own a PostScript printer, so GhostScript will take the resulting PostScript document and print it on a non-PostScript printer.
The first issue I'm having is with using the PostScript driver to print 80 pages per sheet. The only printing options I can find allow you to print 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, or 16 pages per sheet, no customizable value present.
Does anyone have any words of advice or a source for information on the process of how this can be done? Thanks in advance."The only printing options I can find allow you to print 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, or 16 pages per sheet, no customizable value present."
There's no "Custom..." to choose from.
Edit: Alright! I solved my own problem. In order to print a customizable number of pages per sheet 'Page Scaling', under the 'Page Handling' section of the 'Print' window, must be set to "Multiple pages per sheet". At this point more options populate the window, one of which is a new but seperate dropdown for 'Pages per sheet' with "Custom..." as a selection. This is different, however, from the 'Print' window's 'Properties' sub-window which has a form entry drop-down for 'Pages Per Sheet'. Hurray for unintuitive software GUIs! Hopefully this post will help others. -
ITunes is crashing multiple times per day
For the past few months iTunes has been crashing multiple times per day. Most of the time I'm not even using it. I'll get up in the morning or come home from work and have the problem report message on the screen. Sometimes it does happen while I am using it. I've reinstalled iTunes multiple times and I've repaired permissions.

Back up all data.
Quit iTunes if it’s running.
Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash, if they exist:
Caches/com.apple.iTunes
Caches/QCCompositionRepository-com.apple.iTunes.cache
Saved Application State/com.apple.iTunes.savedState
Leave the Library folder open. Try iTunes again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
Step 2
If you still have problems, quit iTunes again. Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
iTunes
Note: you are not moving the iTunes application. You’re moving a folder named “iTunes.”
Test. If iTunes now works, delete the iTunes folder on the Desktop. Otherwise, quit iTunes again. Put back the folder you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place, and continue.
Step 3
In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with either of the following strings:
com.apple.iTunes
com.apple.mobile.iTunes
Move them all to the Desktop.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Test again. This time iTunes should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. You may be able to put back some of the files you moved to the Desktop in this step. Relaunch and test after each one. Eventually you should find one or more that causes iTunes to malfunction. Delete those files and recreate whatever settings they contained.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit iTunes again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the items you moved to the Trash. Stop here and post again.
If you later decide that you don’t like the results of steps 2 and 3, you can undo them completely by quitting iTunes and restoring the items you deleted in those steps from your backup. -
Hey; can miggui handle source and target servers with multiple NICs/IP addresses? I have a DNS/DHCP server to migrate that services two separate VLANs, and I want to make sure I'm not going to blow the whole thing sky-high.
Thanks. The Migration DHCP leases file issue has been fixed in the jumbo patch that just went into the oes2sp1 and sp2 updated channels a couple days ago. (bug 561928 - issue below).
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Setup NW server (6.5 SP 7 in this case)
2. Setup OES server in the same tree. Remove edir replicas.
3. Setup DHCP on both servers. NW should be configured with a range of 2
address. OES should have the dhcp server setup.
4. Run a windows client with one nic. Get a DHCP address and note the ip
address given.
5. Run the Novell Migration for DHCP (transfer ID option). Choose the
server-level migration.
6. Run the migration, and then run the post migration step per the
documentation.
7. Start DHCP on the OES box and watch the /var/log/messages. Restart or
/release /renew the address from the client. It will not get the same address
as before, but the second address in the pool. Drop the client and add a v-nic
(if vmware), or have another client try and grab an address. The DHCP server
will say it is out of leases, when in reality the first lease is not being
honored.
Actual Results:
See above
Expected Results:
Expected the first client to get its original DHCP assigned address back,
therefore leaving the remaining addresses in the pool open to new clients. -
DataSocket fails intermittently with multiple NICs enabled using LV7.1
Using LV7.1 and Datasocket v4.2, I was intermittently (but quite often) having problems reading and writing to the datasocket server (primarily from the server side). My application should read the value in the item and upon finding a specific string it should immediately follow it with a write of a default string. However, it can find the same string multiple times and not complete the write. Logging the errors from the write shows that no error is occurring. The client is not at fault because it only writes the string once every few minutes. I was able to finally show that by disabling the extra NIC on my system running the datasocket server that the connection seems to operate reliably. Both NICs
were set to static IP addresses, but only one was connected. I do have the program writing to "dstp://localhost/UUT" as opposed to a specific IP address (not sure if it matters).
With Labview6.1 I did not have this problem. It was only after I re-compiled my application with LV7.1 that I started having issues.Philip,
I do not feel I am running out of bandwidth since I have run it successfully on 1Gbit NIC connections on a P4 2.4GHz system as well as a 10/100Gbit NIC on an old 650MHz system with LV6.1. I only do two writes per variable (on up to 8 variables) once every few minutes. I did not seem to be a re-entrant VI issue.
I have created two VIs which should allow you to recreate the failing conditions with multiple NICs enabled. It responds very quickly with one NIC enabled, but when one or two more NICs is enabled, it gets very slow to respond and has some timeouts.
One VI is the writer, the other is the reader. Start both VIs and start all 8 reader loops. Then you can consecutive
ly click on all 8 sender loops. Doing this with and without multiple NICs enabled should show you the problem.
Note: I think the issue I was talking about in earlier posts about getting multiple strings back before it wrote out "Loop" was due to the fact that the writes were not occurring quickly enough and the reads were happening multiple times. Therefore, in these VIs, I revised the read and close timeouts to -1.
I think it would be best if you could call me so we can discuss this issue. If you can email me, I will send you my contact information if you don't already have access to it.

Actual and Plan Versions annual view - Multiple versions per company code
Good Day,
Iu2019m creating an FI-CO query with an annual view of both Actuals and Plan Values, which uses period and version as input values. The dilemma is around the plan versions which are hardcoded per company codes (eg. 1 Company Code = versions 501 u2013 512)
Can anyone suggest a possible solutions as normally there is only one version used for planning but in this instance there are multiple versions per Company Code.
Currently the report is hardcoded for one Company Code and going forward it should cater for more than one(Company Company* 12 Version)
Kind RegardsRemove restriction on comp code. There could be 2 models.
1. Include comp code, value type and version in the rows. This way you get multiple records for a comp code. One record for actual data and one record each for plan versions. To have this model at the query, the data model in the cube also should be in this way (what we call as the account model), multiple records differentiated into actual/plan by valuetype and different versions by version.
2. Include comp code in rows. Create selections, one for actuals (restrict with key fig and value type 10, actuals), one for each plan versions (restrict key fig with value type 20, version 501. Create one selection for each version this way). This way we have one record per comp code with diff key fig for actual and plan versions. We call this as key fig model. To have this model at the query, the data model in the cube could be account model or key fig model. If it is key fig model then no need of selections. The key fig could be taken directly from the cube. -
"Layout" option in iPhoto 09 - multiple photos per page
I am trying to printing several different photos on a single page. While I can achieve this by selecting a smaller image size and letting iPhoto arrange them automatically I would like to adjust the layout. When I selected "Layout" (under "customize") earlier I was offered layouts for One, Two, Three etc. images per page but now I can't find how to get iPhoto to offer more than One image per page. Am I doing something wrong? With several pictured selected, how do I customize the layout?
Thanks
DuncanThanks - That is what I figured but the strange thing is that when I clicked on "Layout" 20 minutes before I posted this question it offered me page layout options for "One", "Two" "Three" and "Four" images per page with different configurations for each......but now I can't get those options - frustrating! And thinking about it, why would it say "One" under layout if there were no other options available?
Has anyone else experienced this? Do other iPhoto 09 users get multiple images per page options under "Layout"?
Thanks
Duncan -

How to save a pdf with multiple slides per page
I have multiple pdf files that I would like to combine but for some of those files, there were originally from powerpoint. For those files, I would like to change the pdf so that there are multiple slides per page. I don't have a copy of the original powerpoints. I am trying to find an easy way to do this because I have at least a hundred pdfs to do. Thank you!
You could print a PDF to the Adobe PDF printer, and select multiple Pages per Sheet on the Layout tab of the printer Properties dialog. Printing a PDF to PDF is generally frowned upon, but once it a while it comes in handy. It could have some unwelcome side effects though like wiping out your carefully crafted accessibility tags, bookmarks, and some document properties.

How to print multiple sheets per page?
Please advise how, if it is possible, to print multiple sheets per page with Acrobat 7.0 Pro.<br /><br />I have a PDF that's about 24" x 60". I'd like to make a "poor man's poster" by printing on several pages and taping them together -- sort of like Microsoft's "Fit to <x pages> tall by <y pages> wide" feature. Can this be done with Acrobat 7.0 Pro?<br /><br />Thanks.<br /><br />-Kurt
That is typically a function of the print driver for Acrobat. One way to do it is to print to a new PDF and select the printer properties and select multi-up. Bill

'''"In that case this is more likely a bug in Covenant Eyes than it is a bug in Firefox. If we have no hope of success through engaging with Covenant Eyes and can't blocklist the offending DLL from loading, can we at least get a support article posted instructing users how to work around this issue (ie. removing Covenant Eyes or switching to a different browser)?'''

RFIDYYWT across company codes produces 1099 with multiple records per TIN
We have multiple company codes that post 1099-MISC relevant payments to a common set of vendors. All payments are processed through our main (paying) company code.
All our company codes are one taxable entity to the federal government, with one TIN. We are required to submit one file to the IRS.
Unfortunately, when we execute RFIDYYWT across company codes we get multiple records per vendor, one for each company code, despite that the vendor has only one TIN.
How may we customize the system so that a single execution of RFIDYYWT provides an IRS compliant file that aggregates common vendor records?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Otto Baskin
