VBR too high issue

I am using OS 10.3.9 and Compressor 1.2.1
I have a project right now that requires 3 multi-angle video tracks that are 40 mins. each.
I made sure they are all the same identical length. Set in & out points exactly the same for each track in FCP and created my own preset within Compressor to have the same Average and Maximum Data Rates as the 120min High Quality Encode preset. I created my own preset because DVDSP says that GOP needs to be closed and the 120min Preset does not show that to be the case.
Well after spending almost all weekend encoding video (no thanks to a slow dual 1 gig G4) and spending hours designing my DVD menus, DVDSP says that the Bit Rate is too high! That makes me feel like bashing my computer with a baseball bat! I thought I did my research and even created 30 second tests to make sure it would work.
Does anyone have any suggestions to find out why my Bit Rate is too high? And what I can do in the future to make sure I have an acceptable bit rate so I don't waste another weekend?
Also, is there a Compressor update I might not know about that will work with the system I use?
Thank you for any advice.

I was totally wrong about the video.
The User guide is correct.
Audio however is a different matter with multi-angle.
The data rate of all the associated audio tracks add together.
Here is a post from Trai Forrester on an Apple Dvdlist.
The relevant audio details are at the end:
From: "Trai Forrester" <email@hidden>
Subject: RE: Multiple video streams
Hi Pete and All,
The multiple angle video stream, unlike multiple audio streams in a
single track object, is interleaved. Playback of multi-angle flagged track,
"hop scotches" on the chosen angle, "jumping over" the "not playing" chunks
of video, "bound" within their own angle. The "about 10mbps" ceiling still
applies.
The 7mbps maximum limit for each separately encoded video element that
will make up the encoded multi-angle stream, is more of a function of
distance over time, and the inversely capable limitation of standard
hardware to jump over non playing sections, as the non-playing sections, or
total number of angles in the stream increase (distance to hop scotch).
So the 9 angle stream will still register on the bit rate meter, well
within the specs (7mbps, as the other streams aren't "playing").
Audio streams are different. Even non-playing audio tracks bit rates
must be included in the total.
Example:
9 video angles (each encoded at 7mbps) = 7mbps (only one angle can play at a
time)
8 Dolby stereo audio tracks @224 kbps = 1.792 mbps
Total bit rate for the Track = 8.792 mbps - Plenty of room left to try to
wrestle some subtitle streams out of Subtitler, and include them!
Take care,

Take a look at page 70 of the PDF for bit rates on alternate angle tracks to see if that was the issue.
Also using a CBR intead of VBR has helped in some multi angle issues.

  • Bit rate too high DVDSP, build stops.

DVD Studio Pro used to be DVD Maestro from Discreet, but I was thinking since Apple bought it long ago, it would have a forum.  I searched for DVD and DVDSP and only came up with this forum.
If anybody in here uses DVDSP and if you know the solution I would appreciate help with this.
Upon building this, I did lower the bit rate to a lower size after getting the error message.
As of now I have the BR between 4.2 and 5.2 as the max br.
I'm concerned if I lower it anymore it will start looking like a pixelated mess.  Does anybody know how low you can take the rate and still have a good looking project?
The project was taped in HDV.  However I encoded it using compressor so I don't think it's an HD file anymore that DVDSP can't read. In the settings you'll see "SD".
I'm using DVD Studio Pro 4.
The settings I used for compressor were:

  • Muxer bitrate too high... solved... at least for me

    Hi all.
I've been getting that "Muxer Bitrate Too High" error like so many others. I've made probably 100 DVDs with the same process and sources, for the same client, and never had an issue. So the obvious suspects (like audio being aif or video data rate too high or too many streams) were not the issue.
But I certainly spent a lot of time confirming that. I lowered bit rates and recompressed several ways, even down to the lowest possible settings for both audio and video. Still the error. The log pointed to 2 specific tracks that were having the problem. Each track has single video (m2v), single audio (ac3) and one subtitle track.
So I imported those 2 tracks, without subtitles into a new DVD project. No error! (guess I should have tried that first). Then I imported the subtitle track for each... and got the error!
So in my case, it was the subtitle. And I've seen a few other victims in these threads who mention they have subtitles... so import your tracks into a new DVDSP project and build. Then import the subtitles and build again.
In my particular case, the solution was to go back into Sublime (that's how I make my subtitles) and review the subtitle files. I was actually making excerpts (smaller pieces) from bigger, previously authored programs. So I was importing previously made subtitle files, and deleting the excess subtitle in the timeline. Problem was, even though the excess subtitles were deleted from the timeline, they still existed as text in the text entries down below. I deleted those and reexported the stl and it worked.

I've read a bunch of posts and I have made sure my audio is AC-3 and I've compressed and recompressed the video several times to no avail. This is what I have: An AC-3 audio file for 1:39:43:09 at 48khz, an AC-3 audio file for 00:00:22:02 at 48khz, and MPEG-2 Video at 1:39:43:08 at 29.97 fps compressed with 4.5 - 7.5 VBR. I have 1 main menu and 9 sub menus all with motion and audio (the shorter AC-3 file). I have 28 stories. Other than that, I don't have anything special... no angles, no subtitles, nothing fancy. I keep getting that **** error... what am I doing wrong?

  • Can subtitles cause data rate too high errors?

I've been building a DVD in Encore CS5, using Sorenson as the transcoder.  I've built the disc many times with no issues.  Now I've added a Spanish subtitle track, and I am suddenly getting errors that the data rate is too high.  Can the subtitles cause this?
These are my Sorenson settings.  Ultimately this will be a commercially pressed disc.  Do I need to adjust, and if so, how?
    Target 8400 kbps
    Min: 53% (4452)
    Max: 115% (9660)
    Total data rate: 8624
    2-pass VBR, 720x480.
    Audio: ATSC A/52
    Data rate: 224
    Sample: 48K
    Stereo, 16

The question will be in part what the actual datarate is (and most particularly, datarate spikes). If we were using burned disks, I would worry. Since players don't have to play burned disks, they are less likely to be uniform in handling datarate variations. You are replicating; correct? So a player that fails to play correctly, is failing what it is supposed to do. As long as you are in spec, you should be okay.
The other way to answer this: no, I would not trust Encore failing to throw an error as a sufficient guarantee. Does the replicator test for datarate?

  • When I print business cards, they sometimes print 1/4 too high but not always.

I have my business cards in a Word document using an Avery template. I have used the same file for years. I never had a problem with my Canon printer but after buying an HP Photosmart D110 I have had nothing but problems. When I print then they print about 1/4 inch too high ruining the cardstock and wasting ink. This doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes I print and they are perfect but when I go back and print another, the problem returns. This is the same card stock I have used for years and when it is inserted in the printer it doesn't matter if it is a single page or a stack of them. I have tried previewing the page before printing and the alignment is correct. I've tried printing to a PDF and then printing the PDF, same problem. I try it on the Canon and no problem. Only reason I bought this in the first place was the cartridges were cheaper and I do a lot of color printing and scanning!  I have just replaced the cartridges and did a head alignment so that is not the problem. I have tried it with regular paper and the problem persists. I'm ready to drop kick this thing and buy another Canon!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Did you ever find a solution for this problem? I have no problem printing the business cards out on a Canon printer, or a different HP printer I used to have, but the D110 is nothing but a pain in the you know what !  I'm using publisher and the avery 8371 card stock,  I searched solutions for days and did everything possible but still they're not printing correctly!! I'm dissapointed in this printer, every time I have a problem with something it always seems to be an HP product!!!  Very frustrating because I never had to mess with any settings in the other printers I had, I would just put the file in, change the quality and click the print button with no problems. I'm ready to throw this printer out the window Anyway thanks in advance and I hope somebody can help me with this issue !!!

  • IMac Hard Drive expectations, Are mine too high?

    Hey everyone.
I have a 27" iMac i5. Its around 22 months old now and its being used as a personal PC at home.
Lately, I have been experiencing HDD related issues, It hangs, load times are poor, OS takes ages to boot (windows and OSX)
I backed up all my data to external drives and did a clean OS restore to Lion. No help, first boot with the OS was just as bad as a boot full of clutter. Loading Windows on the win partition also sometimes gives me the "cannot find OS boot disk" error which is scary.
Anyway's doing research its all sure tell-tale signs of a failing HDD and ironically last night on my Win7 partition, I got the windows error message saying my "windows detected a hard disk problem, back up all data and contact your manufacture".
Now, back on topic. Is this reasonable? a $2000+ computer suffering from a hardware fault like this when the HDD has never had more than 30% of the 1TB used in its life? (everything I keep backed up on externals.)
I was honestly expecting a few more years out of this, **** even my 5 year old Macbook has never had an issue in its life and its been bagged around more places I can think of in its lifetime. How does a computer that sits on a desk suffer for a hardware failure such as this?
From day one, I had a faulty power board inside, it caused a loud electronic buzzing noise. I did not get this fixed for aroun 9 months as tbh, it sounded normal but in the last month leading upto the replacement, it got much louder over a few days. This was replaced by Apple and I was sent on my way happy it was fixed. could this have caused something to overload?
I am a little bit bitter which I am sure you can understand, but was my expectation of this hard drive just too high? or am I in my right to be a little upset by this?
And before anyone askes, I was OS when my warranty ran out, my Macbook, iPad 3XiPhones and Mac Mini are all covered by their own Apple Care. the only thing that isnt is the iMac.. just my luck!
Edit: the old link for the power board.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2737002

    Thanks guys.
Just got off the phone to Applecare.
they confirmed my drive is faulty. Im just a little upset it died like this. I have never had a drive fail before. Id rather my externals go than the internal.
Spoke to Apple, they said that he spoke to his Tech Specalist and they would not offer a free replacement. I agree is its 10 months out of warranty, but even the Apple rep I was speaking too said he would not be impressed either if it was his personal computer
Oh well. Time to look at HDD Upgrade options! Not that I am totally impressed about it.

  • In reply to MK re: print too high...

    MichaelKazlow:in Re: print too high;
I'm using A.Reader v.9.3.4 in  XP.3 and Officejet J4540 series; I do think you are on to something with  print preview composite showing  Zoom 94% & page set to 8.27 x  11.69" but where to change to 8.5 x 11 inches since the zoom @ 94% does  not jibe with over 11 lgth X less than 8.5 inches which would seem  logical if the 94% issue were the trouble...please expound ~ Jaye ~

I'm not on Windows now, but the Windows dialog box is similar to the Mac Print dialog box.
You can see under Comments there is a Page scaling dialog box. Click on the drop down menu and switch from None to Shrink to Printable Area.

  • Too high bitrate (not as it looks)

    Hello,
I have one huge problem with the latest DVD Studio Pro and I need your help.
I have a 15 minute and 3 minute video and I need to build a simple DVD. Here's a scheme:
    http://mt11.quickshareit.com/share/picture5cff99.png
15 minute is "Final Composition" and 3 minute is "Additional Scenes". It would be SD DVD. I'm using export of raw miniDV camera footage from Final Cut Pro, using Apple ProRes 422 DV 48 KHz and file format MOV.
About two days earlier it was all right – I've linked all files and build the DVD, but yesterday I've needed to change one scene. Then I tried to build it again, but it still says error caused by too high bit rate. Why? Before two days was the same bit rate (QT says it's about 40 Mbps), the same footage, the same export, the same length... and everything was good.
I've tried also other bitrate (from 7 to 20), other codecs (DV, DVC PRO, ...), but without any success. Restarted program, restarted Mac, gave it a break, but still nothing.
Can you please help me solve this out? I will be glad and thankful (it's a year school project work = very important). Thank you very much!

Encode all your video via Compressor to m2v and make the audio AC3 and bring those assets into DVD SP (when you changed the scene perhaps the rate went too high.) Also FWIW 7 - 20 can be high (well over 8 is going to give you issues and 20 is HD realm not SD)

  • "bit rate too high" in menus with overlay files

    Hi
    I opened in DVDSP4 a project I was working in DVDSP2.
In DVDSP2 the project could build without a problem but now on DVDSP4 during build the program either gets stuck or gives the message "Muxer Bitrate Too High" when it reaches a menu with an overlay file (tiff or jpeg / advanced colors).
I didn't add any new assets to the project, just used transitions between buttons and menus available in DVDSP4.
As soon as I remove the overlay file, build continues succesfully.
Anybody has an idea about why this is happening?

Thank you for looking into this issue
Here is something I tried out:
I set the same file used for the overlay, as background image, and build was successful, which probably means that DVDSP can handle this type of file
Ps. Originally the files were tiff (they worked fine in DVD studio pro 2)
When the build problem started in DVDSP4, I converted them in jpeg but I had the same results.

  • ORA-25307: Enqueue rate too high, flow control enabled

I am stuck. I have my stream setup and they were previously working on two of my dev environments well. Now when I get the streams setup the CAPTURE process has a state of "CAPTURING CHANGES" for like 10 seconds and then changes to state "PAUSED FOR FLOW CONTROL". I believe this is happening because the PROPAGATION process is showing an error of "ORA-25307: Enqueue rate too high, flow control enabled".
I don't know what to tweak to get rid of this error message. The two environments are dev databases and there is minimal activity on them so i don't think it's a case of the APPLY process is lagging behind the PROPAGATION process. Has anyone run into this issue?? I've verified my db link works, my stream admin user has dba access. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks, dave

As rule of thumb, you don't need to set GLOBAL_NAME=TRUE as long as your are 100% GLOBAL_NAME compliant.
So, setting GLOBAL_NAME=TRUE will not have any effect if your dblink is not global_name compliant
and if your installation is global_name compliant, you don't need to set GLOBAL_NAME=TRUE.
The first thing when you diagnose is to get the exact facts.
Please run this queries both on source and target so that to see what are in the queues and where.
Run it multiple time to see if figures evolves.
    - If they are fixed, then your Streams is stuck in its last stage. As a cheap and good starting point, just stop/start the capture, propagation and target apply process. Check also the alert.log on both site. when you have a propagation problem, they do contains information's. If you have re-bounced everything and no improvement then the real diagnose work must start here but then we know that the message is wrong and the problems is elsewhere.
    - if they are not fixed then your apply really lag behind for what ever good reason, but this is usually easy to find.

  • Video bit rate too high - reducing doesn't help

I've not come across this problem before. Now DVDSP tells me my vbr is too high, but reducing it gives me the same message. I'm attempting to put 47mins of SD onto a DVD-R, so not outrageously demanding. I'm not sure where to go from here.

    John Howarth wrote:
My problem is happening on a talking head - there is plenty of movement elsewhere in this movie, and that is all compressing correctly. When I reach this particular clip, which has very little movement, the glitches happen when the guy moves his head. It happens nowhere else in the whole 87 mins, and it happens repeatedly on re-encodes in the same clip - not precisely the same frames, but the same clip. Exporting the clip and its neighbours alone, and compressing it, presents no problem when written to a DVD-R
It is strange, so in other words if Clips A, B, and C are all in one movie from Final Cut then the encode shows the problem in Clip B, let's say, but if you break down each section and drop each encoded clips (A,B,C) on a timeline in DVD SP then it looks okay? You mention that it is not the same frames each time, but are they near where the cuts/changes occur or is it throughot the entire section? Could be the encoder or perhaps the DVD Player is getting tripped up there. I have placed Compression markers in problem areas, even if not scene changes or high movement, to help when I had some ghosting with relatively slow rates of movement. I have not had to do it often, but it helped.
Though I think it is probably not related to the following, how many players have you tried it on and which brand of DVD Media are you using? Do you see the same problem when playing from the hard drive in Apple DVD Player and/or the DVD-R in Apple DVD Player? How are you burning the DVD? Straight from DVD SP or otherwise? (You are using the Universal Binary version of DVD SP and Compressor I take it?)
These problems all occur when using Compressor, at 6.2Mbps preset, with ac3 for the sound. Is that just too high? But then why does the rest of the movie play OK?
It probably is not too high if everything else is okay, and more so it sounds like it is a place where there is not much movement. Moving his head should not throw things that far off. Did you mix clips/camera types in Final Cut? When you say glitches, what is happening, macroblocking, skips in playback, jerky movement? Ghosting?

  • Firmware version is too high. How uninstall? Correct version where?

Help! That Firmware thing is driving me nuts. Wish apple would organize the latest upgrades by OS. It’s a maze.
My iMac DV (blue front slot loading) is OS 9.0.4 (I will upgrade but not right now, too long to explain).
I had bought a LaCie HD some years ago & made partition with OS 9.0.4, 9.1 to 9.2, it fell, bought another and installed it.
After much time I found out that to know my version of Firmware I have to look for boot ROM, my system profiler says it’s $0004.19f1 that means probably v 4.19.
If it’s v 4.1.9 it is too high it needs OS 9.1 and probably happened with I had OS 9.1 on my external HD. My LaCie CD Writer became a nightmare and I don’t dare to use it anymore, maybe it was because of the firmware ….or it might be that Apple CD/DVD Driver can’t exist at the same time as Toast extensions, it’s unclear to me.
Can’t find the latest firmware version for OS 9.0.4 that will work, or how I can take it off before I install another one. I know v2.4 will work on OS 9.0.4.
    Got: Firewire v2.3.3 - usb v 1.4.2 - CarbonLib v 1.6 - Apple CD/DVD Driver v 1.3.5 player is v2.1
    Help!
    1. What’s the latest Firmware for OS 9.0.4?
    2. Do I have Firmware v 4.1.9?
    3. How do I uninstall Firmware v 4.1.9?
    4. CAN Apple CD/DVD Driver exist at the same time as Toast extensions?
    Thanks very much
    Nicky

I think that you misunderstood Kappy's point about Mac OS X version.
What the information about OS X version is telling you is that those are the minimum requirements for the installer which places the firmware update permanently in the ROM on the logic board to run. However, once the firmware has been installed you are free to continue to update your version of Mac OS X for as long as Apple releases them.
I have an iMac G3 DV+ which has ROM version 4.1.9f1 and is running Mac OS X 10.4.8.
However, the firmware is backwards compatible as well. You obviously installed the firmware when you were running OS 9.1, but at some time regressed your OS to 9.0.4.
I think the issues that you are experiencing are related to other issues on your Mac. The folks in the iMac G3 forum should be able to help you sort that out.

  • No Server Name displyed in mail notification Alert generated by "total CPU Utilization Percentage is too high" Monitor

    Hello Everyone,
I need your assisstance in one of the issues with Mail Notification Alert generated by SCOM.
    Mail notification received as below:
Alert: Total CPU Utilization Percentage is too high
    Severity: 2
ServerName:Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard  - The threshold for the Processor\% Processor Time\_Total performance counter has been exceeded. The values that exceeded the threshold are: 97.091921488444015% CPU and a processor queue length of 16.
    Last modified by: System
The Alert was generated by "Total CPU Utilization Percentage"
But the problem with the above mail notification is it doesn't mentions about the affected server. So I would like to know how to tweak the monitors to provide the server name into it.
    Thanks & Regards,
    VROAN

  • Rounding Difference Too High

    Dear All,
I am having a problem in the vendor advance payment. When I try to post the document containing sales tax using the T-Code F-58 in a JVA related company the system gives the following error:
    "Rounding Difference Too High".
The system is able to post the documents which do not contain the sales tax. It is also worth noting that the companies without JVA are able to post both kind of documents.
Please provide help regarding this issue.
    Regards,
    Anosh

    Hi,
Looking at the error, it is JVA triggered.
G4 042 error could occur because of multiple reasons.
Without looking at the system, it would be difficult and would not be right to comment.
The solution as I can see is a 2 step approach,
    1. Implement all the latest (release for all) notes handling G4 042. Simulate the test case.
    2. If step1 doesnot help, please raise a OSS with SAP. The concerned expert can then comment on the issue
    after debugging the program.
    Regards,
    Satyajit
