Vbscript error
I can download itunes 7.02 with no problem. When it gets to the windows installer, I receive the message that vbscript is not installed. It also says that vbscript.dll is not installed. I have checked it under my system folder and vbscript.dll is there. I'm using windows xp home. Please help before my son thinks I am totally useless
Miss M
Take a look at this article and see if it helps. It specifies that either the VBScript engine needs to be updated (and sends you to the correct place to do that) or if it is current it shows you how to register/re-enable it in Windows.

VBScript error with Vista persisting.
I am getting the same VBScript error as others, but the cl fix isn't working for me. Any other solutions? I have an iPhone 4s and would love to be able to add my music etc. Help in time for Christmas?
Unfortunately not. When I ran the fix I retried the add/remove of iTunes but got the same message:
"iTunes could not be installed because Visual Basic Script (VBScript) is not installed or has been disabled. Make sure VBScript is installed, turn off script blocking in anti-virus and personal firewall software, re-register VBScript, and then install iTunes."
Is that what we've been trying to do? I don't know how to get into the firewall, script blocking, anti-virus stuff. Do you have pointers on how to do that?
When I went into CL and loaded the modules I got error codes.

Web Conferencing Console - vbscript errors
Has anyone had issues accessing the Web Conferencing 'Console' applet? When I try the New User 'Test' link to download the Console and test my system I get several VBScript errors and it never gets more than 10% downloaded.
What browser are you using?
For Oracle's effort to push Linux, it still does a much better job supporting IE than any other browser unfortunately. I would also think that IE5+ is required. -
VBScript Error when trying to install iTunes 7.2 on Windows Vista PC
I downloaded iTunes v7.2 + Quicktime. When I try to install, I receive the following error:
"iTunes could not be installed because Visual Basic Script (VBScript) is not installed or has been disabled. Make sure VBScript is installed, turn-off script blocking in anti-virus and personal firewall software, re-register VBScript, and then install iTunes."
I installed my current version of iTunes v7.1.1.5 on my new Windows Vista PC just a month or so ago and never encountered this error. I have also tried to update Quicktime and get this same error. Why am I getting this error now? What do I need to do to 1) ensure VBScript is installed, 2) that script blocking is turned off since I don't see any settings in my Windows Live OneCare that allow me to do anything related to scripting, and finally 3) re-register VBScript?
PLEASE HELP. Thanks!

Solution for VBScript error message on Vista systems
From what I can gather in the short time that I have searched on this topic, this is a common problem for most Vista users trying to install the latest iTunes. I tried the following and it worked great.
Start
All Programs
Accessories
Right click on Command Prompt and run as administrator, Enter
In the command prompt, type the following;
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
[Press Enter]
You get a pop-up stating that vbscript.dll was registered successfully.
I found this solution here in this discussion forum. I hope this helps others.

Fix for VBScript Error When Installing iTunes/Quicktime on Vista
With GREAT THANKS to http://www.keathmilligan.net. I was able to fix this problem by performing the following steps:
The iTunes/QuickTime installer will fail with a "VBScript not installed" error on some installations of Vista. I'm not sure exactly what leads to this situation as it does not seem to affect all Vista users, but there is a relatively simple fix:
Click Start, All Programs, Accessories then RIGHT click on Command Prompt and select "Run as Administrator"
change directory to your windows\system32 directory
enter the following command:
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
This will re-register VBScript and allow the iTunes installer to run.
After almost pulling my hair out for a month, this worked like a charm and I was able to install iTunes/quicktime with the latest version and get to hear my music again after a month of trying everything. THANKS KEATH

VBScript error number conversion?
Hi,
I have a script returning an error as a large negative number and need to know how to convert it down to the nice small positive number that MSDN shows as the return values.
Thanks!**Decoding Errors**
-2147220978 style numbers are 32 bit signed integers, convert to hex with calculator.
Windows errors (smallish numbers) and COM HResults (typically, but with exceptions, start with an 8 as in 0x80040154) are defined in WinError.h, except 8007nnnn where you look up the Window error number that it contains.
As a general rule Windows errors are less than 65,535 (0xFFFF). Errors starting 0x80000001 are Component Object Model (COM) HResults. Errors starting 0xC0000001 are NTStatus results. Errors starting 0xD0000001 are also NTStatus
values returned in a HResult.
- **WinError** - Returned from Windows API Calls
- **HResult** - Returned from COM calls
- **NTStatus** - Returned from kernel and some API calls also return when
encountering a kernel error.
NTStatus errors (typically but not always start with an C as in 0xC0000022) are defined in NTStatus.h.
.h files are the best source because it includes the symbolic name of the error which can give clues such as the source of the error. FormatMessage doesn't give the symbolic name only the description.
You get these files by downloading the Platform SDK (it's gigabytes)
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx%3Fid%3D8279&sa=U&ei=w2IrULDDLsHFmAWbmIHoBg&ved=0CBwQFjAA&usg=AFQjCNHZn9-4f2NnuN9o3UWUsOF3wL7HBQ
If you just want the two files I have them on my skydrive so I can reference them anywhere I go.
https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=E2F0CE17A268A4FA!121
Note internet errors (12,000 - 12,999) are windows errors but are specified in wininet.h also available above.
There are errors defined in other .h files. But 99% are in the three above.
**Structure of HResults and NTStatus Codes**
The most significant bit in HResults, and the two most significant bits in NTStatus are set on error. Hence Hresults start 8 on error and NTStatus starts C on Error. The next 14 or 15 bits are reserved and some specify the
facility - what area the error is in. This is the third and fourth number when reading hex. EG 0xnn07nnnn - An HResult facility code 7 is a normal Windows' error (returned from a COM program - hence it's returned as a HResult). Facility codes are defined in
Winerror.h for HResults and NTStatus.h for NTStatus codes. They are different.
**To Decode 0x8003nnnn Errors**
HResults with facility code 3 means the HResult contains OLE Structured Storage errors (0x0 to 0xff). These are the same as Dos error codes. These don't seem to be in Windows' header files and the list of codes is at the end of this post.
**To Decode 0x8004nnnn Errors**
HResults with facility code 4 means the HResult contains OLE errors (0x0 to 0x1ff) while the rest of the range (0x200 onwards) is component specific errors so 20e from one component will have a different meaning to 20e from another component.
This is why the source of the error is extra important for errors above 0x80040200.
**To Decode 0x8007nnnn Errors**
HResults with facility code 7 means the HResult contains a Windows' error code. You have to look up the Windows' error code not the HResult.
To decode 0x80070002. The 0x means it's a hexadecimal number, the 8 means error, the first 7 means it a windows error, and the rest of the number, 2, is the actual Windows error.
To look up the error we need it in decimal format. Start Calculator (Start - All Programs - Accessories - Calculator) and choose View menu - Scientific, then View menu - Hex. Enter 2. Then View menu - Decimal. It will say 2.
Start a Command Prompt (Start - All Programs - Accessories - Command Prompt) and type
net helpmsg 2
and it will say
The system cannot find the file specified.
or look it up in winerror.h
// MessageId: ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND
// MessageText:
// The system cannot find the file specified.
#define ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND 2L
**To Decode 0x8019nnnn Errors**
HResults with facility 0x19 are HTTP errors. Codes under 16,384 (0x4000) are the same as HTTP errors, eg HTTP status 404: The requested URL does not exist on the server is 0x80190194 (0x194 = 404). Codes 16,384 and higher are BITS specific.
**To Decode 0xDnnnnnnn Errors**
HResults starting 0xD are an HResult with a NTStatus value in it. Just cange the lead D to a C and treat as an NTStatus (Hresult = NTStatus OR 10000000).
**Dos Error Codes (for 0x8003nnnn errors)**

VBScript that traps error "Access Denied"
I am newbie in VBScript. I have been trying a script where my requirement is, if the "ACCESS DENIED" error is coming, I need a prompt "Do you still want to continue?".
My question is how can we trap the "ACCESS DENIED" error and as user ""Do
you still want to continue?"
Kindly, push me in right direction. Thanks in advance.Yes just use normal VBScript error methods. Check for the error and ask the question then take required action.
There is no specifc one lineof code to do this. You will have to write it.

Itunes installation failure, error code 80070246
I was attempting to upgrade to the latest I tunes version, unfortunately the installation stops during the publishing product information stage. I am using Windows Vista, home edition 32 bit.
While searching the help topics I have tried uninstalling itunes, quicktime, apple software update, apple mobile device support, bonjour and would have uninstalled apple application support if it showed up.
After rebooting and attempting to reinstall (with another failure) I tried running Microsoft fix-it basic and advanced because I came across this fix in another article for this error code. Now not only can I not install Itunes, no updates show up in the history for Windows Update and when I run Windows Update it also fails with another error code 80080005.
After spending 2 days working on this I am worse off than I was when I started, does anyone have any suggestions for what I should do next?A quick search of the error code shows a VBScript error. Perhaps this could help:
