Vcast media manager error

For some time now, several times a day I get the message "backup+media (process com.vcast media manager) has stopped error."  I looked at application settings but couldn't find anything useful to change.  How do I stop these messages, I don't use vcast! Tilly

  • Problem with Vcast media manager

So, I got a new phone.  Bought the USB cable so that I could transfer data using the Vcast media manager program.  Plugged in, put it sync mode, and drag/dropped the files over.  The program detected the phone and shows the files are transferred over.  The card works; take a pic with the phone and plug it in, and Vcast sees it..  But the phone refuses to find the music.  Doesn't matter what I do, it insists there is no music on the card.  Anyone else ever have this problem?

The issues you are experiencing with your handset not finding the music on your memory card may need to be duplicated with a live representative. Please contact us at your earliest convenience from a different phone so we can troubleshoot. Please have your cell phone and memory card available.
We can be reached at 800-922-0204 seven days a week 6AM to 11PM CST.
    Thanks

  • VCast media manager doesn't run under W7 64-bit

How do I download music to my new Droid 2. When I tried to install Vcast Media Manager, it aborted because it does not support 64-bit OS.
I'm not interested in having a 32-bit OS just to support one application.
    Thanks
    <Chas>

I have a 64-bit OS on my Laptop, as well, and experienced the same message.
I noticed that when I first plugged my phone into my PC the Windows Explorer came up and allowed me to browse my entire Droid 2 files. But, after allowing Motorola to continue to install the "needed" drivers/software, I was no longer able to browse my phone with Windows Explorer. So, I uninstalled the two Motorola files that install whenever I plug my phone into my PC, and viola! the Windows Explorer works again.
Therefore, the solution for moving files back and forth from your PC to your phone is to not use the VCast Media Manager and just use the Windows Explorer that defaults when you first plug your phone into your computer USB port.  When prompted to allow Motorola to modify your computer, say "no".  By doing this, your phone won't go to the Verizon Website and block your ability to use the Windows Explorer from there on out.
You'll need to say "no" everytime you plug your phone into your PC, but at least you'll have the file management needed.

  • Vcast Media Manager program is faulty

Downloaded Vcast. Installs correctly. When attempt to launch I receive a "verizon.exe has stopped working and will be closed" message. Problem is apparently with the Data Execution Protection (DEP) settings. Even when try to exempt the program from DEP, get a message that the program cannot run without DEP. This is a problem with the software, not with the operating systems.
    Vista Home Premium 32-bit
    Droid X

If you have a Droid phone, you are not required to transfer media over to the phone using Vcast Media Manager.  You can simply plug in your phone, put the phone into USB Mass Storage mode in the notification panel after you plug it in, and it will work just like any USB thumb drive or other mass storage device.  This is how I personally transfer over Videos, Pictures, and Music to my Droid 2, Droid X, Thunderbolt, and Fascinate.  This works pretty much flawlessly as long as the content is not protected.
For those of you having issues installing the Vcast Media Manager software on the computer, if it was a software issue, everyone would have it.  There are so many variables when it comes to PCs that it becomes impossible for a cellular phone company to help with software installation on a PC.  We are not certified computer techs here at Verizon, which is why we keep computer troubleshooting light.  There are some basic requirements for the Vcast Media Manager to work though, please ensure your PC meets all of these requirements before diving too deep into troubleshooting Vcast Media Manager installation issues.

I hope this answers some of your concerns with the Media Manager software.

  • VCAST Media Manager and ENV 3

OK, I always used the desktop Media manager to get my pictures off my phone, now I have a new computer and it doesn't work.  I tried reinstalling it many times (yes I have the device drivers) and it no longer brings up my phone in order for me to transfer my photos.  It shows FB, and all other options to transfer but note my phone which used to show up right away once I plugged it in.  I am unsing windows 7 but I also tired doing it on my XP machine but still it does not recognize my phone after I connect it, help!  I have all these pics on my phone that I can't get to my pc.

Thank you Goldie11 for your reply. Adding to what was said, I wish to point out that you double posted on the same issue a minute of each other putting the word Ok at the start of your sentence as the only difference between the posts. The reason why this was pointed out is because one posting would be sufficient.  Many postings of the same issue exact issue does not get more attention than a single posting where as a double posting can cause confusion. In stating you always have used a desktop Media manager to get my pictures off your phone, What Windows operating system were you using at that time it worked to get the pictures off your device? Please check to see if you enabled the menu for Mass Storage on your device.
The USB Mass Storage menu allows you to transfer content from your phone via Windows XP when your phone is connected to your computer using a Micro Sd card inserted in your phone and with a compatible USB cable. When you have the Micro Sd card inserted in your phone, use the steps below to enable the menu for Mass Storage. I am also providing a link to  our website that can also provide additional troubleshooting steps. The link is:  http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/index.html
    Using the Internal Keypad:
    1. Open the flip and press[MENU].
    2. Press Settings & Tools.
    3. Press Tools.
    4. Press USB Mass Storage. From there you can enable the Mass Storage to then transfer your pictures from the phone to your computer.
Please note: Do not insert or remove the Micro Sd card while playing, deleting or downloading Pictures/Videos/Music/Sounds.

  • Vcast media manager

I'm sure this has been answered, but I couldn't find it in a search so...  Everytime I plug my HTC Incredible into my PC, Internet explorer opens up and takes me to Verizon's website and wants to download VCast Media Manager to my PC.  Trouble is, I've already dl'd  and installed it. This is a huge PIA.  Any ideas??

Try this. The phone does not need to be connected to the PC.
    dial ##7764726
    Hit Call
A screen will appear requesting a password
    Type Password 000000 (that's 6 zeros)
    Hit Feature Settings
    Choose CD ROM
    Click Disable
Hit menu, commit modifications (it will say no item changed)
The request to download and load the program on your PC will end.

  • Vcast Media Manager -- where is support for 64-bit windows computers??

I purchased a Droid 2 in October, when I plug it into my computer it brings up Verizon Vcast Media Manager page to download that program (which is good because I want to get my music onto my phone from my desktop computer).  But only after download attempt does it tell me that said program will only support a 32-bit operating system.  Well, I, my wife, and a lot of other people have a 64-bit operating system.  Is Verizon really that far behind the times?  Seriously has no one noticed this, a 32-bit machine is outdated these days.  Why can i not hook my Droid up to my puter, I thought this was smartphone technology...  Maybe the phone is smarter than Verizons Programmers??   To VZW, please correct me if I am wrong, or fix the problem if I am correct.

Currently there is no 64bit version available at this time, and no ETA to when one will be available. I would recommend as an alternative using the Droid 2 as a mass storage drive to transfer music. I have included the instruction in an article below:
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=34780
If it still does not recognize it as a device, try putting it in USB debugging mode. Instruction article given below:
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=31366
***As long as a memory card is present in the device, it will show up as a drive on your personal computer. Once it shows up as a drive, you can drag and drop music and media files on the Droid 2.

  • Vcast Media Manager Software

Im running windows 7 (64 bit) Vcast Media Manager Software will only run on 32 bit OS, does anyone have any solutions  so that it will run on 64 bit OS? Appreciate any help on this matter. thanks:

64bit computing has been standard for almost 1/2 a year now.  I am not talking about high end machines either. Even cheap, low end machines have come standard with 64bit versions of Windows 7 (under $400).
Please Verizon, get a 64bit version out ASAP.
46 percent of all computers running Windows 7 are using the 64-bit edition
Until then, everyone who is running x64 machines use dazzboard (beta) or DoubleTwist.
From a buisness standpoint, I see the lack of x64 support as being a loss in potential revenue that could have been gained from customers purchasing media driectly from the V CAST Media Manager.

  • VCast Media manager looks for update, then shuts down

I installed the Vcast Media manager app on my Windows 7 laptop this morning.   I installed apple quicktime at the same time and told the VCast install I needed drivers for motorola.   Now when I open the Media Manager it says an update is needed, then immediately opens dialog box that says "Can't download update, shutting down"   I've done the uninstall/reinstall dance.   Any other ideas?
    DT

First try a Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

  • Vcast media manager issue

I downloaded the Vcast media manager for my XP desktop and was able to get songs loaded. But now when I start the program it says there is an update but it fails to download it and then Vcast closes.
I unloaded Vcast and downloaded the latest version but it still shows the same problem.
Any one else see this or know the solution?

I would call customer service and see if they can see an issue on their end...and at least make a note that you never received the download.

  • Vcast Media Manager won't give iTunes node

Just installed VCast Media Manager, version 1.1 (build 11). I'm running iTunes 10.1.1.4.  I'm running Windows XP on a netbook.
When I launch VMM, it shows Windows Media Player as a node on the left side, but  not iTunes.
It scanned and found all of the music files in my iTunes folders, but it doesn't show it as a node and let me manage the playlists.
    What am I doing wrong?

I don't have a PC support to contact, and if I did, why would they know anything about VMM software?
What is VMM looking for, in order to recognize iTunes as a node in the VMM software?
What, for instance, does it "see" in order to recognize Windows Media Player?
Is there a particular registry value?
A service that should be running?
Are there settings in iTunes that should be configured a certain way for VMM?

  • VCast Media Manager - Upload Button

So I ordered VCast Media Manager so I don't need to bring a cable with me everywhere and so I can store files remotely and access them with my phone automatically when I need them...great and fun.
I ordered the server, configured the service, and ended up on the VCast Media Manager page.  It's a simple page that has a simple set of instructions on the page.  The instruction states to start uploading content by pressing the "Upload" button.   So I look everywhere on the page for an "Upload" button.  Can't find it.  I do a browser find, still no go.  Look at the source and do find/upload, no control with that name.  Hmm...how do I upload files to VCast Media Manager without the Upload button that we are instructed to use?

I would call customer service and see if they can see an issue on their end...and at least make a note that you never received the download.

  • VCast Media Manager Will Not  Download Purchased MP3 Album to PC

VCast Media Manager Will Not  Download Purchased MP3 Album to my PC, but has deducted the purchase from my account.  Clicking Download Manager tab gives the message "Please sign into the store", even though I am logged in.
In the past when this problem occurs Loging out and Login In  to the store has worked and started the download , but not this time.   There is no tab on the Shopping Cart to Log out of Store.  I have tried exiting and restarting VCast Media Manager and also rebooting the system.  I am running VCast Version 1.5.0 Build 1652 which is reported as the latest.  System is meets all requirements Windows XP Pro SP3, Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, 4 GB RAM, Sound Card and Video Card.
If I need to re-install VCast Media Manager how can the data be saved that determines I am owed a download?
    Thanks.
