VCloud Director 5.5.3 - console disconnected on Chrome

Hello all,
I have an issue with vCD 5.5.3 and Chrome console . It popus up and immediately goes to disconnected . From the same PC , Firefox and IE console both work . There is no vmware-vmrc folder created , so I don't know how to get the logs of what might be wrong.
Both http and console certificate were imported into Trusted root certificate authority , opened in Chrome https://vcd-console , it is trusted .
Any ideeas on what might be , or how to get the logs ?

Well, some additional info :
I've tried VMware KB: Cannot connect to vCloud Director HTML5 console with Mac OS X using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome ( which also applies on Windows ) -> https://developer.chrome.com/devtools/docs/console
In javascript console, I've noticed that Chrome actually tries to open the console using the IP instead of the FQDN . I've tried to open https://ip-of-console , and of course I get a warning regarding the certificate , as it was created for FQDN , and it tries on IP .
Your connection is not private
Attackers might be trying to steal your information from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards).
So in the end is related to Certificate , have to see if there is a DNS issue or what . If you have any ideas, feel free to share.

Error in adding host to vCloud Director 5.5.

In our vCloud Director 5.5, we have added vcenter server through which ESXi Host are visible. however while preparing the ESXi host for vCloud Director i.e. installing vcloud agent it stucks in installation and never completes. N/W connectivity is working fine also we did manual uninstallation and reinstalling the vcloud director agent we are getting error message.
Can someone help, where are the logs file getting generated in ESXi Host also how to resolve this issue.

Please ensure that we don't have any running VM's on that host,if VCD fails to place the host in MM,you can manually put the host in MM mode and try preparing.Also keep an eye on below article to check if you are hitting with any such issues.

For log check -- > /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/logs do check for vcloud-container-debug.log,better to 'tail' the log when the host is going through preparation phase
Also do check /var/log/vmkernel.log and hostd logs.

Installing of CSR 1000V With Vcloud Director

All is Ok but ...
Anothing is indicated in documentation of CRS 1000V for installed with Vloud director.
The documentation say for Esxi.

Are you using Vcloud director 1.5 or 5.1 ? If you are using 5.1 you can choose internal option in the database and its will automatically generates the Database .
The Sql team can reset the Database of Vcloud .

MCAK for vCloud Director 5.1

We have been using the latest MultiCloud for vCloud Director but are now looking at upgrading to vCenter and vCloud Director 5.1.
I had seen some mention of support coming soon for the version 5.1 of vCD, but have not seen if it is available or in what version it will be.
Would you be able to give some indication on the support for this version please?

You should have no issues using the latest version of MCAK with vCloud Director 5.1. All IAC functionality has been verified. What is not supported yet is the VCD 5.1 API, so you would not be able to take advantage of new API/product features with the PO VCD adapter (although, you could always write your own custom process using HTTP requests to call the new REST API directly).

Unable to import vAppTemplate to vCloud Director with PowerCLI

I have encountered the following issue with PowerCLI and vCloud Director:
Import-CIVappTemplate cmdlet is not functioning in PowerCLI 5.8 and 6.0 against vCloud Director 5.5.
Error Message on PowerCLI:An attempt was made to move the file pointer before the beginning of the file.
Error Message on vCloud Director UI:Catalog item file transfer failed due to SSL error.
I had confirmed the issue is on each individual cell when I connect direct to the cell before running the cmdlet.
The same ovf and cmdlet is working well in PowerCLI 5.5 and 5.8 against vCloud Director 5.1.
Any suggestion is welcome.

I only get a HTTP/1.1 406 Error when I try to connect to the Cloud over this App =(

I'm not sure if the iPad client was ever updated to work with anything past 1.5.x generation. current version in the Apple store states it doesn't support 5.1.x generation, so I wouldn't expect it to work with 5.5.x.

How to use VMRC SDK to open VM console

Hi,
I'm looking for some help to setup a custom solution that opens a console of a VM from a corporate intranet site. I'm new to the whole VMWare SDK world, but I've been able to easily use vCloud Suite SDK for .NET to expose some details on my User Interface. So far so good, but when it comes to VMRC plugin honestly it is totally unclear how to use it.
My need is just to show a button that opens a new web page with the console on it. In our infrastructure we're using vCloud Director 5.5.2.2233543
According to VMWare developer center, I downloaded VMware Remote Console (VMRC) SDK (version 5.5.0.1280474), linked from the main page, that comes with VMRC plugin installers and a directory where I can found vmrc-embed-example.html and vmrc-embed-example.js files. The first weird thing I've noticed is that the vmrc plugin installer included in SDK is different from the one shipped by our installed vCloud Director application. The first is named "VMware Remote Console Plug-in 5.5.0.33581", the latter "VMware Client Support Plug-in 5.5.0.41167". It looks like the first is an old version, but I cannot be sure about that of course, and I can't find a newer sdk on the other hand.
I payed attention to test the html page included in vmrc sdk with both plugins anyway (one at a time), just to try to understand. In both cases, running html page on the web browser and providing some data to use, I can connect succesfully to a VM, obtaining the following messages:
starting VMRC instance: modes: 0, messages: 1
startup returned "vmrc-np-t-{55D63FD3-925B-47C7-B96B-74659A57498E}"
connect succeeded
onConnectionStateChange - connectionState: 2, host: 172.18.x.y, datacenter: , vmId: vm-401, userRequested: true, reason: Connection successful.
That's all: from the messages it seems that it's working, but the box that should show the console remains white and nothing else happens. Any action on the other form's button results in error messages, among them the most recurrent is "Error calling method on NPObject!", that is the same message that pops up when trying to connect to a VM with no parameter or without pressing the startup button.
I really need some advice, any hint is appreciated, thanks in advance.

After you've made a connection you should try setting the plugin to full screen mode by calling setFullScreen(true). I was receiving a black box in the middle of the screen until I had started setting to fullscreen. As far as the "Error calling method on NPObject", when I've had this message it was due to the fact the plugin was not ready for some reason, for example connecting to a vm and then immediately calling grapInput would result in this message. I was able to resolve by checking the plugin was ready (and in scope of the callee).

VCloud REST API - Change computername on VApp Instantiation

VCloud not returning expected data?

Ran into something goofy/unexpected on vCloud Director 5.5.2 with PowerCLI 5.8.0.
The logic (in this particular scenario anyway), just checks if the vApp exists; if it doesn't it returns null, then it creates the vApp then does another request for the object. If the vApp does exist, it just skips the creation and moves on to use the object somewhere else.
When I run a command to get an object (typically a vApp Template), it'll return null, even though the object exists. The same thing happens when we request a vDC. Is this something broken with our vCloud Director install?
So for example, the following code...

Can vCloud usage meter fulfill this requirement

vRealize Operations manager can do this if you want to monitor behaviour/normality, and report based off of this data. this would connect to vCenter directly to get the data (VMs and templates view in vCenter mimics that of the Organization (vDC) / vApp Structure).
Chargeback can sample and monitor for the purposes of a creating a bill/invoice for a given VM. This would connect to both vCloud and vCenter to build the reports.
vCloud Director which is available to VSPP/vCloud Air Network members has some basic monitoring included in the product, but requires API calls to gather the data and an additional Cassandra/Kairos DB to store the information.

Sccm 2012 DP failed to create iis virtual directories

I am trying to install a branch server as Sccm 2012 DP.
I already installed around 15 branch servers without any problems.
The problem I have is that the branch server failed to create iis virtual directories.
In my console under Monitoring, component status It writes that Distribution Manager successfully installed iis component of operating system to distribution point ""
Next it writes error to send packages to that branch server.
The site server distmgr.log shows the error below:
Failed to start primary service wdsserver
Microsoft Sql Server Native Client 11.0 login failed for user "xxx"
Failed to connect to the sql server connection type : SMS ACCESS
for Display = \\myserver\mswnet: sms_site= XXX failed to get master SCF.
Currently site xxx is initializing site control data. Cant get Master SCF from database at this time. will try later.
DPConnection;;;; ConnectWMI() failed to connect to branch server.
I try to remove the dp role, leave it for 12 hours reboot the server and assign the role again but same problem.
Any idea ?

Use vCloud SDK for Java to integrate with vCD 5.6

Hello Folks,
         Newbie here.
         I have a situation where a home grown app, that uses vCloud SDK for Java to invoke a vCloud Director 5.1 installation. We use this for powering on/ off a few VMs.
         Our installation is being upgraded from vCloud Director 5.1 to 5.6.
         My question is, are we expected to upgrade/ carry out any code changes to our current implementation to integrate with the newer runtime version (5.6)?

Somewhat going from memory here.
As long as the REST API Versions URL states that it is compatible with 5.1, then you should be fine to make the calls as v5.1.
Here is the section of the documentation for that:
Using the vCloud API with vCloud Director
The I think the SDKs are just wrappers in a manner of speaking. They all eventually translate code (java/python/etc) into a REST API system that is sent into vCloud Director via the API. For the most part, I think it'll work.
That's not talking about "support", just that it should work with some exceptions. I don't know if there is an official stance on cross compatibility like this.
