VCNS product roadmap

So I see that vCNS 5.5 has been out of GA for over a year with no product that I can see as a replacement, except NSX maybe. It also already had an exception made to extend support to 2016 instead of EOL'ing in 2015 as per VMmware's 2-year EAP lifecycle. However, I don't see any plans or hints at a vCNS 6.0 product. Right now I'm leveraging vCNS App and Firewall to secure a mixed PCI/nonPCI VDI environment. Reading between the lines it looks like vCNS 5.5 is the end of the line and they're going to force us over to NSX come Q3 2016 if I want to still leverage the functionality App and Firewall were providing. Does anyone have any info on vCNS beyond 5.5? Am I right to think "NSX"  will be the answer? Or is there another product I'm not aware of that is offering the App and Firewall functionality now?

vCNS is no longer purchaseable as single product from VMware, but it's included in vCloud Suites.Thats why the support lifecycle was extended until 2016 i think.
Every new customer is forced to buy an vCloud Suite to use all functionalities of vCNS.
I also found this PDF from VMware for vCNS EOL and Bundling with vCloud Suites - https://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/products/vcns/vmware-vcloud-networking-and-security-standalone-products-eoa.pdf

  • Creation of a Multi-Year Product Roadmap in Project 2010

I am looking to see if I can efficiently create a product roadmap using Project 2010.  For a given business unit in our corporation I have product categories and under those categories I have products and/or projects I want to show on a timeline.  I
was able to brute force this into a timeline but I would think there is an easier way to do this.
For example, I would like to be able to put the description of the product/project inside the bar on the ghantt chart but I get an error when I try to do that.  I increased the bar height to allow for legible text but still no luck.
I want each entry for a given product category to automatically produce a bar of the right color with starting and ending symbols as needed based on the type of entry I add (product versus project).
Is there any way to add an outline to the bars of different colors to designate the difference between a sustaining, anticipated, active, and discontinued product or project?
Or would I be better served to go find an aftermarket piece of software that will do this type of work instead of trying to use MS Project for something it wasn't specifically designed?
    Thank you for any feedback.
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
    Here is a
tutorial that might help you coloring your bar style. This is based on the resource name but you could have a custom field with your product category which trigger a flag then the bar style will be formated
    based on the flag.
Then about the description in the bar, I'm afraid this is not intended for this purpose. What about the note fields?
    Hope this helps,

  • AIRHelp product roadmap?

There is a lot of enthusiasm for AIR Help and the early adopters have made some good suggestions! Does anyone know if Adobe plans continued updates to AIR Help, and if so, how to get feature requests to them? Is there a product roadmap? For example, we are stalled until there is a way for us to handle end user comments over the internet (the way Adobe can with some of their product help), and whether we can virtualize the system (using Endeavors). I'm planning for next year's deliverables and would love to know whether particular problems are being solved and we can move forward with AIRHelp. thanks -Dee

Only Adobe know their plans and it is their policy not to publish them so no one can answer the question here. I don't doubt there will be changes but what they are is something else.
    Submitting feature requests is easy.

When you talk of sharing comments over the internet, do you really mean internet or an intranet? If the latter, there is a solution on my site.
Can't help you on virtualisation. Perhaps if you explain a bit more.

  • ALSB Product Roadmap question

    Hi,
Am curious if the ALSB product roadmap includes support for Web Services Notifications and Web Services Resource Framework anytime soon ?
    Both are OASIS standards.

Unfortunately this is currently not a supported configuration. A domain must contain a single ALSB cluster. This is something we are looking to improve in the future.

  • ERP product roadmap

    Hi
I am looking for timeline information on the SAP ERP architecture roadmap - for eg : when R/3 4.6 C released, when was R/3 enterprise ( 4.7 ) release, when was NW 2004 released etc - going upto ERP 6.0. I do have a SAP document - slide on the 'Evolution of SAP ERP' architecture indicating this road map  but that does not give details of the time line of different ERP product releases....starting from 4.6C
Would anyone out there have the timeline information on this roadmap ?

have you tried searching on SDN ?

  • FormsCentral product roadmap

I am in a 30 day trial period for FormsCentral and for the most part, I like what I'm seeing and see real value in the hosted service.  However, in order to commit to the product, I need to know where it is going.  I really have two purposes for my research: 1) as a member of a small HOA organization with fewer than a dozen forms that need to be circulated among a few people for approvals; and 2) as an IT Director in a large public sector organization with over 1000 users, 100 forms, and several dozen approvers.  In both situations, there are two key elements to a forms engine--workflow and electronic/digital signatures.  Workflow means that the forms need to pass through several different email boxes with entries possible from each.  Digital signatures does not necessarily mean signatures in the legal context, but authentication in the form that current Adobe PDF forms allow that just identifies the logged in username, IP address, date and timestamp.
Is FormsCentral moving toward either of these features in the reasonably near future?  At the enterprise level, we would also need to be able to render the form (not just the data) into an electronic (PDF) record that could be preserved for audit trail as well.  Is FormsCentral targeting the enterpise market, or just the SMB market?

FormsCentral does not publish a product road map and I really can't share information about upcoming features.
For the "workflow" need you may be able to accomplish this using the new "Save Web Form" feature.  It is not designed for this purpose, but if you gave proper instruction in the form and could rely on the users to do the right thing users could route the form through a series of fillers by entering the next users email in the "Save" dialog to have the partially filled out form emailed to them.
Here is an overview of the feature: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-4135
Related to the "we would also need to be able to render the form (not just the data) into an electronic (PDF) record that could be preserved" you can save any response as a PDF form from the "View Responses" tab by selecting the response and using the "Download Response as PDF Form" option from the row menu or the File menu.

  • Crystal Report installation roadmap

    Hi All,
I googled and found that the the SAP data can be extracted only if SAP BW is configured. We have a different requirement
InfoSet Queries are developed, which extracts data from SAP tables
We need to customize the design of the report, therefore plan to have temporary extracted data in InfoSet query and
install and integrate Crystal Report with Infoset Queries for customizing the layout.
Are our concepts correct about crystal report? If yes, how can we integrate CR with SAP, keeping in consideration that we haven't implemented SAP BW.
In short, installation/configuration of the following scenerio
SAP Tables -> InfoSet Query -> Crystal Report -> Custom Layout with Infoset Query data -> Print
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you Ingo for your valuable response. Infact, I'm a big fan of your blogs @Business Objects.
Actually, the objective is to design reports with customized heading without using ABAP. For the purpose, InfoSet queries are created. Now I'm looking for a tool, e.g. Crystal Reports etc., to design queries output in professional way.
What do you suggest, which product should I opt for temporary purpose? We will be acquiring BOBJ in next fiscal year, which I hope will make our life easy for developing/designing new reports. But at current, which product/roadmap should be focus on?
    Thanks !

  • Sql Anywhere product road map

    Hello, all
Our company is about to start a new large project soon.
Several DB providers are being evaluated, among them SAP SQL Anywhere.
Since this is going to be a product line for the next 15-20 years, we need to know if SAP has road map for SQL Anywhere.
The vagueness of SQL anywhere  future is currently the biggest drawback for us, since technically it is an excellent solution.
If anyone can point me to the product road map, it would very helpful.
    Thank you
    Arcady

    Hi Arcady,
As far as I know, SQL Anywhere is alive and well.  In addition to being offered as an product for sale to end users and OEMs, it is part of, or included with, many other SAP solutions.  For example, SQL Anywhere is included as part of Business Objects and the SAP Mobile Platform, and SQL Anywhere data synchronization (MobiLink) is currently in beta as a new offering for the Hana Cloud Platform.
There is a recent product roadmap for SQL Anywhere posted on SAP Service Marketplace, which you should be able to access if you have an account.
Development is continuing on SQL Anywhere and a new release is planned for this year (I don't believe a firm date has been announced yet).
Hopefully this information helps to address your concerns.  If not, please feel free to contact me directly if you have any further questions about the future of SQL Anywhere (firstname dot lastname at sap dot com).

On Prem can use EOP as well.
For on-prem Exchange 2013, there really is no equivalent otherwise. ForeFront For Exchange is end of life next year.

  • Has RIM discontinued production of all Playbooks?

I live in the us and I can't find a single Playbook anywhere. Walmart and best buy and pretty much all the top dog retail chains are sold out. I even went as far as to check the "where to buy" section on this website and it takes me to blackberry Mexico or something.

Sure appears to be that way. All accessories are being heavily discounted. PlayBooks are not being replenished at retail stores either.
In light of BB10 launching in 1.5 days, I think we're going to soon find out if indeed RIM has (or is going to) release a new tablet (they may even call it something new). Several months ago, I posted on here an official statement from RIM stating that they were indeed discontinuing production of 16GB PlayBooks and were going to concentrate on higher capacity ones (32 and 64GB). I don't think that statement was entirely accurate however since RIM just let the existing supply dry up and the firesale of discounted tablets continued. They may have had to fulfill supply agreements with vendors and suppliers just to satisfy all parties. The LTE device which had slightly higer specifications (CPU was 1.5 GHz) appears to be killed off too as I have come across a listing that Bell (a large Canadian telecommunications company) has end of life'd the product (EOL) as of Jan 23, 2012.
Now that supply has obviously dwindled to next to nothing, the next logical steps are for RIM to (may do any or all of these) a) release a new PlayBook of sometype and specification running BB OS 10. b) Update the PlayBook LTE and Wi-Fi tablets as we know them now to BB OS 10 (which has been stated several times that they are indeed going to do this. c) Do nothing and kill off tablets altogether for the time being. I find point c) to be the most unlikely as they've officialy stated that they're very much in the tablet business and plan on supporting PlayBook users. This makes sense as the PlayBook runs QNX which is the codebase that the entire BB OS 10 platform is based upon. In fact, the PlayBook is the incubator of this operating system and OS platform. As such, it makes sense that RIM will release a new OS version for the PlayBook to satisfy their existing customer base. Alienating 2 million+ users is not a very good idea in my opinion...
Keep in mind the PlayBook is 2 years old now. It is out of date spec wise compared to the competition and due for an overhaul/update. All of this makes sense as to why the original PlayBook's are no longer being produced. Not only that, if indeed RIM is going to keep making the existing PlayBook, they will have to release it with the new BB OS 10 on it and doing that with boxed products on shelves can't be done easily. Releasing any new tablets in production will have their new OS image on them - if indeed they keep producing them.
According to a leaked internal product roadmap that has appeared on the web (and has been incredibly accurate too for the record) a new 10" tablet nicknamed BlackForest at 128 GB was due to come to marke tin Q3/ 2013.
Anyhow, we're going to more than likely get a sense of what exactly RIM's up to with regards to BB 10 and the entire PlayBook line once BB 10 officially launches here in 1.5 days.  I doubt you'll get much more info on this until then.

  • HP Family Better Together

    By: Mark Budgell
Original Post on The Next Bench
A couple months ago, when HP announced it was considering alternatives for its PC business, I wrote a bullish post about our future. Today, after announcing that the PC business will remain part of HP, I still feel the same way.
This market is huge, shipping 1 million PCs a day.  HP is the leading PC maker with a profitable $40 billion business.  And everyone here is really dedicated to creating great products for our whole range of customers.
Thousands of hours were spent understanding how extracting the PC business would impact everything from supply chain to product development and brand image. Our leadership teams were locked in boardrooms late into many evenings. You could tell from the tired-but-determined look on their faces, and their coffee consumption, that no one was taking it lightly.
When the news was first announced, what might have been missed was that this was more than just a cost-benefit analysis. That was definitely part of it, but the larger goal was to ensure that the world’s leading PC company and one of the finest technology companies is firing on all cylinders.
For obvious reasons, I can’t share what’s on the product roadmap. I can say that our team is more committed than ever to building innovative, quality products for our customers around the world. And we’re thankful to all the customers who have remained fans of our products during the last couple of months.
PSG and HP: We’re better together, and we’re pumped.
I work for HP, supporting the HP Experts who volunteer their time and technical knowledge to help others.
