Vcore adjustment on 645 Combo-L?
Hi,
I am commissioning my new PC.Currently consisting off:
645Combo-L motherboard
1.7 G Celeron
256 MB PC2100 DDR.
20GB Seagate HD
Generic PCI graphics board.
The system passes POST and will boot up DOS, but the system is to unstable to allow an install of W2k or even W98.
The Celeron Packaging states 1.75V, but the BIOS health monitor gives the Vcore as 1.69V, which seems away to low for the Celeron and may be the reason for the instability.
How can I adjust this? I can only successfully run DOS, but there appears to be no DOS software for this adjustment.
MSI seem only to provide Windows software for Vcore adjustment.
Is there any way forward?
Your advice will be most welcome.
Codger
Thanks Assaf for pointing out my error regarding voltage.
That blows away my theory as to the cause of my system instability.
I am using the "safe" BIOS defaults ie FSB=100 PC2100 = 133
and CPU clock = 1.7GHz.
I have changed the memory, the HD, the HD cables and the power supply, without resolving my problem. I don't have access to a spare Celeron to try, but what are the chances of a Celeron that passes POST and can load up DOS from a W98 boot floppy, being faulty in such a way that it crashes when installing Windows?

645 Combo-L (MS-6737) VCore adjustment ?
Hello,
i have purchased the MSI 645 Combo-L (MS-6737) Board.
In the BIOS there are several functions for overclocking, it is even possible to adjust the AGP Voltage.
But i did not find any options to increment the CPU VCore, will there be a future BIOS Upgrade to enable CPU VCore adjusment ?
Thanks for any answer.hi,
yeah, that is where it should be. But there is no such option. Look here -> http://www.geocities.com/myouterspace2002/bios.html
Thats how it looks, but Bios 1.1 added the point "AGP Voltage Adjustage" there.
So if they are able to add that Option, is there a new Bios in planning adding a CPU VCore adjustment option ? -
Boot problem on 645 combo. help !
i need the "boot from lan" function on my computer. please, someone can tell me how to activate this function on my msi 645 combo (with integrated lan) ?
i have a security card (pc guardian)on a pci slot that absolutely need the boot from lan function to opérate, and it seems there is not boot from lan on this mainboard, or perhaps i'm blinded. so help me please it is vok i have the most recent bios 1.2 now but i still cant find how to activate the boot from lan so please help me.
edit : ok I FOUND !!!
In fact, I had to manually press F11 at boot : then i got a "boot menu" in which I have been able to choose legacy network.
only after i had done this, I can acces the function in the bios (boot sequence) and validate it .

Hi,
Why does my 645 Combo (6737) Motherboard make a siren noise when I turm my computer on?
I have just built a 1.8 Pentium 4 with 512DDR PC2700. 10 gb Fujitsu HDD, 230 Watt power Supply. (Think the power is the prob)
Cheers
LeighroyHi,
I found out the answer, dont worry. The CPU Fan was to quiet for the Motherboard to sense it!!! (ARCTIC COOLING 3ghz fan!!) HOW BIZARRE!! Anyway got another fan more expensive though, and the system works now. :D

Confused over FSB speed on 645 combo mainboard
Hi,
I've just bought a msi 645 combo mainboard and a intel celeron 2.2ghz (400mhz FSB)
My query is that when I go into the Bios set-up and then into the frequency/ voltage support the cpu frontside bus is set on 100mhz when my cpu runs at 400mhz, if I try to alter the fsb clock it only allows me to alter it to 200mhz but when I do this the DRAM frequency changes and is lowered below 333mhz (333 DDR is the memory I'm running)
Any help would be really appreciated.
MikeThe P4 BUS does 4 operations per clock, it has an FSB of 100MHz and a system BUS of 400MHz.
Your CPU shold be set to 100MHz. -

MSI 645 Combo on 8X FX5200 AGP
Hi does this MOBO (MSI 645 COmbo) Supoort Geforce FX5200 8X AGP?
It start normally when there's no driver installed on WIN XP. Then I download the latest NVIDIA driver from Nvidia website & installed it then the my PC Hang during bootup. I don't even seen the Starting WIn XP image, I mean the black screen with a Win XP Logo & Blue Line moving.
This is my spec
P4 2.0
MSI 645 Combo
512 Kingston PC2700
MSI Geforce MX440SE / Asus V9520 Magic/T (FX5200) 128MB
400W PowerMax PSU
Intel Network Card
Maxtor 80GB
Is there any incompatible of my hardware or just the Mobo doesn't support it?
Please Help Thanks.I have a similar problem, in that there is startup screen corruption, and graphics corruption. Granted I'm running WIN98SE so at least it starts. Several restarts and the occasional driver reload get it going, after which it's fine.
I've looked at Ram timings in safe and normal, AGP APERTURE (128), Oveclocking (none used) using the latest 52.16 drivers after using detonator destroyer to get all the sticky bits of code from Nvidiot out, and eventually replaced the card with the previous fan cooled XFX fan cooled 440MX ge4. It runs fine now.
The removed non fan cooled PV-T18K-QTHG GF4 440MX AGP8X 64MB DDR TV card is now in my P3/500 on a Soyo 6BA+ Mobo........where it does the same blessed thing!!!!
Possibly not an MSI problem, but an old driver removal/ conflict issue.
I've asked MSI tech support, and XFX tech support for a clue, but no replies yet.
I've also asked CCL computers, who supply all me bits for a clue. Just sent tonight.
If I get an answer, I'll post.
You have my sympathy.
regards,
Bill -

645 Combo
MS-6737 VER 10
Here's the situation,
Everything has been running great since I've gotten this board a few years ago, then my main drive crapped out with a corrupted partition table.
I've been running agp cards in this beast for a few years now, I'm pretty sure I used version 3 of the live update tool to upgrade the agp drivers on the now dead drive, but honestly don't totally remember, I could have only used the install disk for the agp drivers, but again, pretty sure I used the old version 3 live update.
So now I've got a new driver installed and getting everything back to where it was, all seems to be going well accept for my agp video card. I've have used my original msi utilities and drivers disk for the motherboard agp drivers but that has not not worked, windows XP will not find and recognize my video card (Gigabyte Ati HD 4650 1gb GDDR2). I've tried to install the cards drivers to try and trick XP but I still get nothing.
I'm wondering what I really need to do, the board has been great, has had 3 agp cards in it that have run without a hitch, on the old drive.
Do I need to upgrade the bios? (total noob at this, don't want to do it honestly)
Do I need to just get new msi agp motherboard drivers? (No clue where to get them, the new live update crashes my system, actually had to reinstall XP once because of it, had a boot loop going on after live update crashed)
I'm currently sitting with a clean install of XP Pro SP2 (no updates), have ran the msi utilities & drivers setup which added SiS AGP Drivers, SiS Lan Drivers, AC97 Audio Drivers and SiS USB2.0 Drivers. I've also installed my mouse software as well as Chrome browser and a partition data recovery utility (had to get some data off that crapped out drive). I have not installed my ATi drivers as this did nothing the last time I tried it. To note, I also tried installing the most recent ATi drivers, this also did nothing.
I can and will provide more information if it is required.
Looking for any help, thanks.I have installed the SiS agp Drivers from the link above as well as the current Ati drivers for my v-card. Still no go. What other chipset drivers do you mean? I have downloaded all drivers from msi's website for my board.
About to do another clean XP SP2 install and start all over again.
Here is a dxdiag of my system, if not the info you wanted, then what do you require?

How to VCore mod my 645 ultra (MS-6547)
HI..
i got 645 ultra (MS-6547) and P4 1,80 @ 2,3GHz.. The problem is, that i can set VCore to max 1,6V, witch gives me.. 1,55V to 1,58V. I would like to set it higher..
HOWUnless you really don’t care about frying your components, that procedure sounds like an impressively bad idea. I’ve also heard a rumor that there’s a “wire-wrap” way to unlock the multiplier on the P4s, but the same applies.

Hello I would like to know about bios settings on mainboard K9NGM4-F. What is adjust range of vcore? This is very important issue in my settings so it would appreciatable if MSI could include this kind of basic information in manuals. Thanks.

That's for memory. No you can't go below and you don't need to do that.
About CPU use C&Q as Bas said.
BIOS has two different records as followed:
One from 0.800V to 1.550V.
Second from 1.250V to 1.600V
However there is no guarantee that you can actually able to setup them.
Doesnt vcore usually refer to Cpu voltage...
Well so you mean there are different BIOS option?
Still seems better then k9agm* bios which doesnt seem to have control on voltages? -
MSI 6380 and XP1800 VCore Adjustment
Hows it going? I'm running into an issue with a MSI-6380 v3.0 and the Athlon XP 1800+. Seems the XP1800 is running pretty hot and I've been trying to figure out why. I've got a kicken HS/Fan on it, all copper and rated for a 3200+. The only thing I can figure is that the Vcore voltage is wrong and there is no adjustment. The system info in the BIOS tells me the vCore is 1.74. Correct me if I'm wrong but should that not be 1.5 for this processor.
XP1800 will be a palomino cpu, 1.75v is correct for it.
Please read the trouble guide sticky on top of via section about proper headsink mounting. -
Ms-6337le5 vcore adjustment problem
hi
i just replaced my old enpc motherboard with 6337le5;
it seems there is no way to increase core voltage more than 1.600V; this is not enough!!!!!
can anyone unlock the vcore to full range (1.300 to 2.000v)?
don't you just hate when vcore is limited?
hot about releasing a beta bios?
thankshey assaf, i am not mad at ya :D ; i am graceful that you replied my posts.
i like to point out that msi is trying away from a responsible m/b maker; at least one of the review of 865 p4 m/b review indicates; vr-zone.com's review "Intel PAT Enabled 865PE Boards Roundup" said msi 865pe neo2 let users change vcore to 2.3V!!!!!!! probably the "intel designed termal solution" would not be adequate to cool down the p4 other m/b makers was bit shy from 2.0v at most.
i disabled the full screen logo, and i saw the post of caps of volts sources, and interesting enough the tualatin's core voltage was caped @ little less than 1.8v. i think since the board will switch back to lower voltage if the monitored voltage is highter than the upper limit; if the voltage regulator can supply stablly about 1.750v, then i think users like me should be able to set it to such voltage. other 99% would be protected from the voltage upper limiter, and perhaps a short warning do the job.
i also suspect that msi did not design rigorously enought that the voltage regulator can NOT provide stable voltage to the core while providing 1.25v to Vtt
whatever the reason, my first msi was such a disappointment. like other m/b makers, it is hard to get any bios supports for an old m/b even if there is a problem.....i really wish either openbios or linuxbios can do better than award, so i can do whatever i want to do.
thanks assaf for your toughts
ps e7205 board from the asus is not $159; it is $59 though it is a oem "delux" edition meaning no software and fewer cables( no sata cables, no extra 2 usb2 cables) it has a gbe, 2*ieee1394, 6ch audio,4*usb2.0,2*sata; i think it is a good deal, but if my tualatin can go 133+fsb again, i would not buy it otherwise i would buy it + 2.2ghz p4 with hyperthreading enabled e7205 can do 200mhz+fsb but memory interface is syncro only. -
I have a problem when I'm gona set vcore to 1.7V, then the comp woun't boot or post at all. my first thought was PSU, can this be the problem?
i think KT6user gave some good advice here thomas, so dont go bashing on him.. LOTS of stupid people come into these forums and know there board came with something called "DOT" and they can "overclock" but lots dont know it takes life off CPU, sometimes drastcially.. raising Vcore to MAX on board will DEF shave life off of CPU considerably, and kt6user was just giving the other side of the story to raising your voltage, and why not to go that high..
oh, and i overclock, and i DO CARE about shaving life, so i dont go as high as some.. i dont raise Vcore... but i do overclock...
i have tried mine at 1.7 Vcore, no POST either.. that was when i was experimentingwhen i got my board... i can always go into CPU-Z, and it tells me i NEVER use any Vcore about 1.58.. that Vcore meter never goes above that, no matter how high i put it.. anyone else find this odd? i know the board is supposed to come with cool power consumption reduction stuff, (in corecell in think), but if i set Vcore to IE 1.6, i would like it to GO to 1.6... -
Does my bios have vcore adjustment ?
What is "wi vcore control" ?
"leving vcore" ?
Can I use this option to decrease voltage ? What are the option values? Can I lower vcore to 1.000 volts?
My laptop is a5000-025us. cpu is celeron t3000. I would like to lower voltage and lower frequency to make low power consumption. Is it possible?
bios download link is here- http://www.mediafire.com/?etlvj3btb5tzk6bNope sorry, i'm not gonna mess with voltages
