Vcore voltage

Ok just curious, what should the voltage on my vcore be?
i think it's set at 1.5 but speedfan shows the low at 1.39 the high at 1.44 and the average at 1.41.  This is after several restarts and I'm not gaming at the moment.  Might this cause instability?

Alrighty,  I just downloaded Speedfan 4.16 and ran a test on my system to see what results I get.
I have:
K8N Neo2 Plat
Athlon 3500+
Ballistix PC 4000

Yadda, Yadda, Yadda....
In my bios, I set my vcore voltage for 1.60 volts (slightly over default), yet Speenfan reports it as 1.49 - 1.52 volts ---- with cool n quiet disabled
So it would appear your Speedfan readings would be right on par with what would be the standard default voltage for your CPU (considering the slight error reported by Speedfan)

  • Question about Vcore Voltage with 2400XP

    Hi i have been to amd site and looked up what VCore Voltage i should run my processor at and it says 1.65v and the FSB at 133MHz
    The think is the default in the bios is 1.800 and the computer works fine when bios set at "AUTO" for this.
    I changed it to 1.65v and computer will get to just before the windows logo comes up and restarts.
    If i put the FSB at 100Mhz the computer boots up fine.
    Any Ideas on why i cannot run the computer at full speed with the recommended VCore voltage of 1.65v

  • VCore Voltage problems

    Hello, again...
    I've been silent for a while(after I had to RMA board once to MSI and got new one back), just being happy my machine works. But now, after a while, I just wanted to try to get my CPU to a bit more faster settings.
    Problem is, I can't get beyond 253 FSB without raising VCore voltage from 1.6 -> 1.7. When VCore is at 1.6, CPU-Z and BIOS Health monitor shows it is nicely near 1.6 volts. But when I raise VCore voltage from BIOS to 1.7 it starts to jump between 1.8 - 1.9, both BIOS and CPU-Z shows same behaviour. It wont drop below 1.8, so it's like I did set VCore to 1.8, but I didn't. I did check..
    Now, of course, I could run it at 1.8, but it is a bit too much for my liking, I would like to use 1.7 volts setting. Does anyone else have this same problem?
    Is this BIOS problem or what? I dunno, and I do remeber that my last board(which broke) did the same thing.

    Hi Lamy. 253 is nothing to complain about. I assume you are at a 5:4 ratio since your ram is only DDR400, which means you are at it's max rating. At that degree of overclock you are probably overloading your power supply at times. Have you tried dropping to a 3:2 ratio to see if the ram is the problem.
    ryede, I'm getting tired of threats from people planning on switching motherboards. Read the rules - there are no MSI rep's here; we are all users. You have one post to your credit with minimal information supplied, and to top it all you are trying to hijack someone elses post. Besides, exceeding 250 FSB is an accomplishment that few achieve.

  • P55M-GD45 Vcore Voltage Help

    I've read the sticky, I know about pg up/pg dn and the +/- keys.
    My problem is that I can't manually set the vcore voltage in the Cell Menu. It says Auto (greyed out) and when I do pgup I can increase the voltage up to about +.303, but it doesn't allow me to manually set the voltage, nor undervolt it.
    I've updated the BIOS to 1.8, but still no luck.
    If anyone has any suggestions, please help.

    To be honest, I fail to see the problem you are having with the voltage.  That means that either I am terribly misunderstanding what you are trying to say or that you are misunderstanding the way the voltage settings work. 
    Can you please try to elaborate what exactly it is you are trying to do with the system?  It is irrelevant at this point, what the system will be used for.  What is of importance is what clock speeds you are trying to run the system with, what exact settings result in an unstable system and which settings have been working for you.  Within a certain clock speed range from the default settings, increasing the core voltage of the processor may not even be necessary.  It all depends on what you are actually aiming for.
    In terms of current system settings, you have not really told us much so far:

    Hello everyone. I recently had a failed overclocking. I set the BIOS setting according to another user on  another
    forum with similar setup. Only thing is I didn't set the Vcore voltage on my board as it is greyed out not letting me
    make adjustments. Why is that. other users are adjusting theirs some kind of way. I have the X58 Platinum
    which was brand new when I built the PC. 3 OCZ 2gb three channel memory dimms,Vista 64 bit, Intel i7 920.
    Anybody care to share a guide to overclocking this board successfully. Tryin to see at least 3.67 or 3.99Ghz.

    to pick my PC back up from doing a diagnostic at Microcenter another customer in line had the exact graphic
    board and his did not work for him either. Both versions were from Diamond.

  • X99S Mpower + I7-5930K Vcore Voltages?

    Hey guys,
    Been working on getting this system stable for the past week on my bench. For the most part I have had success, minus a few issues with DOA video cards.
    I am curious as to what my Vcore voltages should be on this system, currently in HWinfo64 my Vcore voltage ranges from a min of 0.008v to max of 0.216v (load). This number seems low to me! When I run OCCT, VIN7, VIN8 and VIN9 are all well below 1 volt, is this normal?
    I have had some weird intermittent issues with some random crashes and sometimes Win8 won't boot properly (Black screen and keyboard loses power). However, I can run Prime95 and FurMark (4K resolution) at the same time while surfing the internet and not have a single issue. I suspect that my power supply may be taking a dump, which is entirely possible as it is well over 3-4 years old and I used to push it pretty hard.

    I just want to recap the issue and include a new one:
    1. Vcore on HWinfo64 reads from 0.008V to 0.216V. VIN7, VIN8 and VIN9 on OCCT read as low as 0.01V when idle. (I will post photos tonight.)
    2. Windows 8.1 hangs on boot after the blue window logo loads, keyboard and mouse lose power. (This happens occasionally, 1 out of 4 restarts)
    3. Using memory kit F4-2400C15Q-32GRR, even when set to 2133Mhz Windows will only recognize 20.9GB to 28.9GB. Ran memtest and found no faults.
    I own a Thermaltake DR. Power II and I checked the PSU, all voltages are normal.
    NOTE: I am currently NOT using J_PWR3 (4-pin EPS12V) only the J_PWR2 8-Pin EPS12V. I am under the assumption after speaking with MSI technical support that the additional 4-pin J_PWR3 is for overclocking only and is not required for normal operation only J_PWR2 8-pin is required. If this is wrong and it IS needed for normal operation someone please correct me!

  • Vcore voltage problem.

    How come it doesn't post evertime i raise up the vcore voltage. But when i press the reset button it post up fine. It only happen when i power up the computer. I have a MSI 850 pro5 mb | 512 rdram | 550 antec ps | g4 ti 4400. This doesnt make any sense, and I'm not even overclocking it. I try everthing, even update the bios. I think msi board suck. Assaf please help :]

    I did try to overclock, but im trying to say it does the same thing even i dont try to overclock. I have a watercool system and i want to overclock it some more. Its just that it bother me when it does that.

  • WHY No Vcore voltage Offsets?

    How the heck can there not be Vcore offsets in any MSI Z77 motherboards?  I wish I would have known this prior to purchasing a Z77A GD80 :(  Are there ANY plans to include Vcore offsets in a future bios update? 

    I totally love this MPower board, it looks great, clocks great, boots mega fast, no issues whatsoever, I'm gonna try 4.9GHz and then 5GHz on Air next... lol

    Yeah hopefully, it's not a major issue really, I just like to save energy wherever I can, this 2500K has a VID of 1.411v @ 4.8GHz, yet it's totally stable at 1.32v, so I can't just use Auto voltage as it will pump too many volts through it lol

  • CPU 1 Vcore voltage error

    I'm getting a voltage error every time Retrospect kicks in for backup.
    It's not far off normal. Normal is 1.26 volts. But I'm getting this error:
    CPU 1 Vcore : 1.21 volts * Warning *
    Sometimes it's four email alerts per minute.
    I have reset the PMU. Didn't make a difference.
    Is this a motherboard problem?

    I've gotten the same issues on the same setup (G5 Xserve running 10.3.9). I've been able to isolate this to heat and ventilation. Once the machine was moved to a better cooled and ventilated environment, the errors went away. And Recall that Retrospect is not the nicest piece of software. When it runs it will consume near 100% cpu which will increase internal heat. That makes the fans rev up and the whole unit heat up.
    If you have the unit in a controlled environment, try lowering the temp a few degrees. If you don't get a small fan and either blow cool air at the front of the unit or make sure you are venting the hot air. As summer draws on, you will likely see the problem more frequently.

  • VCORE voltage warning on new PCalert?

    Hey Everyone,
    Okay I'm not sure if this is due to installing the latest PCalert or due to problems I was having today.
    Anyways, I tried installing a new AGP video card in my MEGA 180 today, an ATI i1300 card that nicely booted up once, then never again, trying it in another PC I think it somehow got friend:( Going to bring it back to the store tomorow and see if they can figure it out. My MEGA180 boots just fine on the onboard card and it seems to work asif nothing has happened today and its been working fine.
    Then booting it up just now suddenly PCAlert started sounding an alarm on the voltage of vcore, its dropped to around 0.63 volts and it doesn't seem to like it. Now I did install the latest version of PCAlert and I have no idea what this voltage should be. Also looking at the voltages in my  bios I can't find anything that looks out of the ordinary. Is this just PCAlert thats giving wrong readings or did my troubles of today ruin more then they should have?
    (P.S. looking at the vcore graph it does seem to spike up to 1.something volts from time to time..

    Okay solved it,
    its PC alert 4 that gave me nightmares tonight.
    This morning I started my computer again and looked at the BIOS and desided it convinced me my vcore is running at a healthy 1.6 volts (wel I guess its healthy). I desided to uninstall PC alert and reinstall the version from my install CD and that one also told me nicely 1.6 volts:D I also no longer see the voltage drops I was seeing.
    So the new PC alert I downloaded from the MSI site seems to be buggy with my MEGA 180. Nothing wrong with my PC, must conclude I just bought a bad gfx card, hope they will swap it for a new one today...

    Hello, I have a KT4 Ultra with XP1700+ running as 2600+, but my mobo, only have a maximum vcore 1.7, it's really the maximum vcore? (bios ver 1.3)

    I believe thats the highest it will go with that cpu..........I have 1800 tbred and i have vcore set to 1.7 but speedfan reads the voltage at 1.73 which seems to be more accurate ....I think the default vcore setting for that chip is 1.65 .

  • Vcore voltages......PSU Problem??

    So, again, I was happily overclocking and I set my FSB to 240. Reason one so I could set my base mem freq. to 333 and get an end product of 400 (which is my mem speed.) and 240 also seems to be the highest I can go and maintain decent stability.
    I run 31C idle and max 49C @ 100% usage.
    When I try to run Prime95 I get a hardware error so right now I assume it's the power supply for two reasons.
    Numero Uno! - It's only an SL400 and I'm trying to OC a p4 3000 to 3600.
    Numero Dos! - When i check SpeedFan voltages It will dip down from 1.7(which is current vcore) to down PAST 1.65.
    I need to know if that kind of dramatic drop is expected or if i need to go out and rig her up with a new Antec or Enermax.

    You should Not have to up your V-Core anywhere near 1.7 Volts to reach 240 FSB or a 600 MHZ CPU Ovreclock, as these "C" Procs. Need Very Little Voltage to OC, as I can Go to 250 FSB and only have to up the V-Core to 1.585 Volts, and I can stay all day Playing Games or Benchmarcking at 225 FSB or 3.6 GHZ (Up from 3.2 GHZ) At Default V-CORE Voltage 1.550....I say this as it just may be that your PSU is Not Giving your CPU enough +12V Rail voltage to run stable at Default Voltages..And if you are running at a Constant 1.7 V-CORE, Keep your eyes Peeled for any temp spikes or Funny CPU behaviour.....When you Do get your new PSU I would try to Lowe the V-CORE down to 1.6 Volts, to see if it stays happy...........Sean REILLY875

  • Boris_m - can you hack AMIBIOS to allow more CPU Vcore Voltage?

    I saw you talking about all kinds of BIOS mods and tweaks... so i was thinking - can u mod the AMIBIOS 3.31a (the one that comes with my 645 MAX2-LRU) so that it would be exactly the same only it would allow, lets say, up to 1.7V CPU Vcore instead of 1.6V ?

    Yes i did the mod myself and of coz it helped. Highest i could go was 149 fsb coz my ram is limiting me  :(
    And by the way, most of the 1.8a processors need at least 1.65v to get to 133fsb. Of coz if u r lucky, u might get those gd ones which will run @ 133fsb @ default vcore  :P
