VCS HW to VM license migration

We recently purchased 4 x LIC-VVCS-E-M-PAK and 4 x LIC-VVCS-C-M-PAK so we could migrate all our call licensing from VCS HW appliances to VMs, however when I go to redeem one of the PAKs I got for the VCS-C, it's only showing the following as available:
LIC-VVCS-C-M-PAK
1
LIC-VCSE-100
1
LIC-VCS-GW
1
Shouldn't it allow me to enter the serial number of a HW applicance to migrate from, then give me the relevant call licenses also?  Has anyone else had experience migrating HW licenses to VM who could maybe shed some light on this?

Hello Nick -
Please reference the below discussion, you'll need to email a certain group with Cisco to process the request to rehost the appliance option keys to the VM.  I'm sad to say that there isn't any automatic process in the background that does this when one purchases a migration for any product, it's all manual, and done by the customer most of the time.

    Hi,
What do you mean by migration? you are migrating to another hardware? or you are upgrading from basic to advanced license?
    here is the install/upgrade process:

Someone knows what is the best way to migrate licenses for UC applications?
I appreciate any cooperation in this case.
    Thanks a lot.
    Ernesto Gonzalez

    Hi Ernesto,
For UCCX 4.5 to 8.5, as there is no direct path available for upgrade , you need to use an intermediate version 7.0 to restaore the 4.5 data. From UCCX 7.0 with latest SR you have to perfrom one more upgrade to reach the version 8.5.
You can use the ordering guides to get to know about the license migration.

  • VCS\VCSE license migration from hardware to VM.

    Hi all,
I want to migrate my VCS\VCSE from hardware to virtual.
Both servers are covered by active maintenance contract.
How does licensing work in this case? What is the transfer procedure?
    Any cost involved?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Regarding Cisco VCS, in order to migrate from hardware to virtual machine, you will need to purchase a new license to make the transfer. These are the partnumbers you need:
    R-VMVCS-C-M-K9
For HW Migration to E-Delivery Virtual VCS Control Only
    R-VMVCS-E-M-K9
For HW Migration to E-Delivery Virtual VCS Expressway Only
Please, contact your Cisco representative to get further information.
After you purchase the license, the license rehost from appliance to VM will be made by a specific Cisco team, not the Global License Operation team, this is a different rehost process. You will have to send your request to [email protected], this team will provide all the instruction to rehost your VCS license properly.
    I hope this help.

  • 4400 AP license migration to 5500 - is it possible ?

    Hi all,
Can someone please tell if it's possible to use existing AP license number from an old 4404 WLC to a new WLC 5508 ?
I know that the 4404 has hard licensed bounded to the controller, not like the 5508 adder licenses that can be purchased separate, but I cannot find information about this type of migration (from 4404 to 5508).
    Thank you.

No, you can't move a license from a 440x to another platform.  When you purchase the 5508, you'll need to make sure you purchase the appropriate license size

  • Prime LMS 4.2 to Prime Infrastructure 2.0 license migration

A couple of months ago I upgraded WCS to Prime Infrastructure (WCS via NCS to PI 1.2 at that time). Meanwhile PI is running version 2.0. For some reason, when purchasing the upgrade licenses, I also got a 500 device LMS4.2 upgrade license.
    The exact part numbers were:
R-W-PI12-M-K9 WCS 7.0 to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Migration
R-PI12-BASE-K9 Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Base License and Software
    L-PI12-LF-500-LIC Prime Infrastructure 1.2 - Lifecycle - 500 Device Lic PAK
L-PILMS42-500-M Prime Infrastructure LMS 4.2 - 500 Device Upgrade Lic
I have a virtual LMS appliance running where I installed the 500 device license I mentioned. I've actually never used LMS but that's a different story...
As I'm running low on PI device licenses (lifecycle licenses to be precise), the question is:
Is there an officially supported scenario to migrate these 500 LMS 4.2 licenses (that are already the result of a license upgrade) to PI 2.0?
If so: what part numbers do I need to purchase? I suppose I need
R-L-PI2X-U-K9 LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.x Upgrade
    plus
(L-L-PI2X-500-U LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.x Lifecycle Upgrade 500 Device)
    XOR
(L-L-PI2X-500-UP LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.x Lifecycle Upgrade with PASS 500 Device)
Maybe someone can comment on that... thanks in advance.

In case anyone is facing the same issue:
Meanwhile, I finished the upgrade process using the following part numbers:

  • CUCM license migration

    Hi,

  • BE5000 to BE6000 License Migration

We currently have Business Edition 5000 Version 9.1 installed with 125 CUWL Standard licenses. We do not currently have UCSS or ESW. We are looking to upgrade to BE 6000 Version 10.5. Our supplier has told us that we need to purchase the BE6000 appliance 25 CUWL bundle and purchase 100 new CUWL licenses in addition to a new SWSS(UCSS+ESW) contract. We were originally looking to purchase the ESW contract but this has now been replaced by SWSS. I had originally been told that the CUWL licenses were transferable between Unified Communication applications using a zero cost migration option and that we would not need to purchase new licensing. I understand that this may only be available with active UCSS.
My question is would I be able to purchase SWSS on our existing BE 5000 v9.1 and then obtain a zero cost migration to BE 6000 9.1 and then utilise the SWSS contract to upgrade to 10.5.
Having to purchase new CUWL licensing is increasing the cost by a substantial amount.
    Thanks

  • License migration from Flex Builder 3 to Flex Builder 4

I am ready to purchase a license for Flex Builder but am hesitant to do so.  It appears that Flex Builder 3 is available now with Flex Builder 4 coming within some time period.  If I buy a Flex Builder 3 license now will I be entitled to Flex Builder 4?   If not, should I wait for FB 4 to become available?  What is the anticipated ship date of that product?
    Neil

    From our FAQ
Q: If I purchase Flex Builder 3, am I eligible for an upgrade to Flash Builder 4?
A: Adobe has not yet announced the ship date of Flash Builder 4. To be eligible for a free of charge upgrade to Flash Builder 4, you will need to purchase maintenance along with your purchase of Flex Builder. You can purchase maintenance with your Flex Builder 3 Standard purchase for an additional $99 US which makes you eligible for a free-of-charge copy of Flash Builder 4 Standard edition when it ships. You can purchase maintenance with your Flex Builder 3 Pro purchase for an additional $299 US. To purchase maintenance, you will need to buy through an Adobe reseller. In the US, please contact CDW at 800-800-4239.

  • WCS license migration

    Hi all,
I have a situation at a customer place. They have 2 WCS servers with plus licenses, AP capacity 400 and 300 resp.
They have a plan to consolidate the two locations into one and use single WCS server for management. Is it possible to use the license from the WCS server with 300 AP capacity onto the WCS server with 400 AP capacity?
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Many Thanks
    Girish

The license is tied I the WCS hostname. So you would have to open a TAC case with Cisco license to rehost that license to the WCS you want to use. You would need smartnet also.

  • SQL Web Edition license migration - SPLA

I currently have SQL Server web edition 2008 R2 SPLA lisence, for which I pay to my VPS server provider (hosting company).
I would like to know if I can get the SPLA lisence key from another supplier and use it with the instance which I already have on my machine.
Meaning that I would keep the existing instance and somehow replace the key with the one that I get from the new supplier.
Another question is - currently I have two instances of SQL Server web edition 2008 R2 on the same server, according to my understanding I don't need to pay for the SPLA license twice. Is this correct?
One last question - is there a way in which I can check on how many cores is the SQL Server web edition 2008 R2 running?
Say that I have a Quad-Code server but I bought licese for two cores, how can I verify that the instanace is running on two cores?

  • Product Instance has pre-9.0 licenses installed. These can be migrated via the License Planning page.

I am looking at upgrading my UC cluster from 9.1 to 10.5 and when looking at ELM I see the following message at the bottom of the Inventory > Product Instances page:
Product Instance has pre-9.0 licenses installed. These can be migrated via the License Planning page.
I have searched around but I cannot find any info on this message or how i am supposed to migrate the licenses.
Has anyone seen this before?  Any suggests?
    Thanks in advance

You would only get that if you upgraded to 9.1 and didn't upgrade the licenses through ELM.  I would consult with cisco tac (licensing) or your cisco partner to validate you're fully in compliance and that nothing was missed when you upgraded to 9.
Check out this tech note on license migration from 8.x to 9.x to verify you do this before going to 10.5.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/voice-unified-communications/unified-communications-manager-callmanager/116231-technote-cucm-00.html
It basically involves going to the license planning page, performing the 'license upgrade', select the product instance and counts then send that all over to licensing @ cisco.com with a license request.
    Good luck.

  • ... migrate your iAS license to the equivalent WebLogic Server ...

    hi
    see http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/jdeveloper11gfaq.html#L0
If I am licensed for Oracle Internet Application Server (Standard edition, Enterprise Edition) can I run a ADF 11g application for free?
No. The existing Oracle Internet Application Server(iAS) is not capable of running an ADF 11g application. You will need to deploy such applications on a WebLogic 10gR3 based Application Server. In order to be able to do this you will need to migrate your iAS license to the equivalent WebLogic Server or Suite license,. Please consult your sales contact or visit the Oracle Store.
    questions
(q1) Has anyone been able to migrate his license to WebLogic Server?
(q2) Which future (WLS based) Oracle Application Server release will allow to deploy JDeveloper 11g ADF applications without the need to buy a new license? Will there be such a release?
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

As far as I know the final details of the license migration from OAS 10.1.2 to FMW11g are still being finalized.
FMW 11g will have more components in it than OAS 10.1.2 had - and also more than what WLS had - so there will be a need to figure out what you had license for and what you are buying license for - and there will probably be various editions/packaging to match various needs.
I think this discussion is better left of this forum and in the hands of the Oracle sales team and your managers who can figure out the right price, discount etc...
Lets keep this forum focused on the technical aspects of any such migration.

  • BE on MCS v7 migrate to BE6000 on UCS

I have a client who has a 100 single MCS server based Business edition running version 7. Currently they are covered under UCCS/ESW nearing the end of this 3 year agreement.
What is the correct migration path to take them from V7 to BE6k on UCS.  Looking possibly to add some redundancy.
Customer has CUCM/Unity Connection/Presence/Attendant Console applications.
From the SE session I believe I could
buy 2 50 or 100 user bundles or buy 1 bundle and a
migration bundle for the redundant server with all the software preloaded.
If I purchase 2 50s, this gives the active publisher a total of 100 users during normal operation?
My question is is the migration bundle a deep discounted sku that acknowledges the investment of the existing BE version 7 and MCS hardware, or do I have to go through the technology migration path to get value for the existing hardware and licenses?
Is this even the correct roadmap, from v7 or do I have to first upgrade to v9 on the existing hardware under the UCCS support terms, THEN migrate to UCS hardware?
    Thank you.
    md

    You have mulitple options.
    1.  AS you described in the question, buy two 50 bundles will let you have a publisher with 100 user license, and a subscriber server.
    2. Just buy one starter bundle, and use the MCS server as you back server.  Please check the MCS server is supported in 9.0. In this case, you will need to upgrade the MCS server with 9.0 SW.
The migration program includes mulitples parts:
    1. Migration bundle is discounted with its price just around $1K higher than the listed bare metal server price. and with pre-loaded OS and VMware. It also comes with the free VCS licesnse (5 travelsal license + 10 non travesal ),  5 CC agent license and required VMware license.
    2. Don't need to purchase new license.  Just migrate them. What really matters is the migration discount on license.  With the 9X3 migration promotion, you can migrate you licesnse to BE6000 for $9 per license if 3 year UCSS is purchased.
    3. Use the MCS server as reducndancy server or run other applications.
    4. You don;t nee to upgrade to 9.0 first ro be able to migrate.
We are going to publish a white paper for migration ery soon. Please stay tuned.

  • License trouble when replace cisco Prime 1.3 with version 2.1

    Hi,
problem with license migration from PI1.3 to PI2.1.
In my PI 1.3 system I do have 2 license files only AP lifecycle, no extra base license file.
As I migrated to PI2.1 there is maybe a need for a base license, because the PI system now has a warning: "Base license is missing"
Unfortunately I only received 2 lifecycle *.lic files.
Is the base license also installed like a lifecycle license, via a license file?
Why the PI1.3 system worked without an extra base license file?
Maybe due to a former migration from old WCS with an add of 25 AP license file that included the base license in the 25 AP feature license?
    Thank's for any suggestions.
    Alois

    Hi Steve,
The license portal did not work when when I migrated from WCS to NCS. About 2 years ago I lost all my registered PAK + licenses + Order ID's within the portal.
So anyway, now I sent the PAK numbers I found to the licensing team. I extracted them from my old license files.
The license files are all in the PI directory /opt/CSCOncs/licenses
Also the old WCS and for the old NCS license are still there. And now I can find the license files for the new PI 2.1 in that directory.
Why are also the new license files in this directory, but did not appear on the PI license file section of the Web-GUI?
Is there anything I can check on the PI system to find the error e.g. logfiles ?
    Best regards
    Alois
