VCSA 6.0: Bad URL displayed in "pi shell" disclaimer

Greetings,
I enabled the bash shell in the vCSA 6.0 appliance, and each time I start it using "pi shell" the following disclaimer is printed:

Your use of "pi shell" has been logged!
The "pi shell" is intended for advanced troubleshooting operations and while
supported in this release, is a deprecated interface, and may be removed in a
future version of the product. For alternative commands, exit the "pi shell"
and run the "help" command.
The "pi shell" command launches a root bash shell. Commands within the shell
are not audited, and improper use of this command can severely harm the
system.
Help us improve the product! If your scenario requires "pi shell," please
submit a Service Request, or post your scenario to the
communities.vmware.com/community/vmtn/server/vcenter/cloudvm forum.

I have one or two scenarios that require the use of "pi shell" and I really want to post them here in the forums, but a forum named "cloudvm" does not (yet?) exist.
Can someone from VMware please comment? Should I just post *here* or wait for the cloudvm forum to be created?

I read your blog. In 6.0 U1, VCSA will have a new HTML5 UI which replaces old VAMI. This should provide you with password management features for the root account such as email, expiration time and setting new password. You can still use the CLI for some of these actions. The generic CLI/API for password management won't make into U1. There is feature request opened for this and hopefully it makes it into next release.
About the Winscp, I agree it is big pain point for many customers. We don't want customer to upload files to this appliance, if they have to it should be a feature requirement.
Having said that, we missed providing UI or CLI to upload sysprep files, certificates. For now you have to change the shell to make winscp working. It is very difficult to make Winscp work in restricted shell, because Winscp internally just runs random commands over SSH, rather than a proper client-server communication. The solution to this is that Appliance UI/Vsphere-client should have provision to upload such files.
I have changed the URL in shell to point to this community and asked users to add tag "appliance" for such discussions.

I will communicate with the vsphere-client team to add a plugin in appliance shell to configure this service. A user should not be required to change files.

How to correct bad PDF display of Excel 2007 graph-Adobe Pro X?

Just installed Adobe Acrobat Pro X; previously had Adobe Pro 8, which worked fine. Have Excel 2007 files with an Excel graph and a JPG image on the spreadsheet tab. Both the graph and the JPG are too big, are displaced, and hide spreadsheet data, when the Excel file is Saved As a PDF using Adobe Pro dialog or Excel dialog, or the Excel Plug-In to Create PDF. For some strange reason, printing to PDF works, although that is limiting. All of the settings are the same for the Adobe Printer as Adobe Pro settings. Changing them or going to default did not help. Just did the latest update; that did not help.
The graph and JPG are too large for the PDF page. Paper printing from Excel still works fine. Producing a PDF on another machine with Pro 8 still works fine. Could not find this problem discussed anywhere. Using XP, fully patched. This should not be a complicated process, nor a complex spreadsheet. What is going on?

Regardless of the method and Adobe product used to create the PDF, including the Excel tool button, the single common factor whether the PDF correctly displays a JPG or graph in the Excel file that is being done at anything other than 100% size is whether the Adobe Printer or a Physical Printer is selected as the default printer in the Windows Printers and Faxes-Settings. This is true even though the printer is not being used. I have created the same PDF using every method/product and the results are always the same, and only properly display when either the setting is 100% size or the system printer is selected as Adobe Printer. This is true only after installing Adobe X (8 was previously installed, and worked as expected).

You say the settings for the printer work fine, but do not for PDF Maker (I am assuming this is what you meant). PDF Maker no longer uses the printer and the settings are independent. Check the settings for PDF Maker under the create PDF menu.

Bad URL fix does not work

Bad url fix does not work, Skype still crashes when this string has been sent to group chat. People on the group chat are unable to load up Skype properly.

Bad URL when changing personal icon

After some unsuccessful attempt to change my icon, I finally realized that image URLs with capital letters extensions (.JPG, .GIF) are rejected as "bad URL".
Pls correct this or add a remark to the error message.

I would suggest that you remove that restriction and accept extensions with any combination of upper and lower case characters (e.g. rename them to lowercase on the fly during submission). Many times (e.g. on windows), the extensions are hidden by default and it might not be obvious to the casual user how to modify it.
To the OS, a JPG is a jpg is a JpG. Same difference! So why should a website care at all?
There is no reason to make users jump through flaming hoops for nothing important.

IO_ERROR event only fires for first bad url

This is my first Flash application, so please bear with me.
In the below example, I have a number of files that I load
using loaders.
However, when I have more than one bad url (missing file,
wrong domain, ...) the IO_ERROR event only fires once. For all
subsequent bad urls, the system does nothing and just hangs (when
loading consecutively).
A workaround is to load all images silmultaneously, but I
still want to know what the problem is.

Thought I'd post the solution here.
In the end, the problem was: loading a file from an
non-existent domain triggered no errors.

Could be that your screen is damaged or dying. Only way to know is to bring the phone to Apple for evaluation.

How can I prevent the url display from sometimes being overwritten by button icons?

The address in the url bar is sometimes overwritten by a line of button icons, which can overlap onto buttons beside the url display.

That is not normal behaviour and is caused by one of your add-ons. Just to be sure, '''try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Error message in a BADI getting displayed in a popup instead of status bar

Hello All,
I have implemented a BADI in ECC6 to prevent the change of formula in ERP from transaction O3I8.
The BADI gets called on clicking 'Save' from transaction o3I8.
Within the BADI i am giving an error message using the following command:
Message e000(ZABC) .
However , the message gets displayed in a pop up instead of the status bar .
The same is for information and warning messages.
Any suggestions on how to display them in the status bar ?

we are developping an interface in Web Dynpro Abap in order to manage an existing flow in SAP R/3 (4.6c).
In this context, the following functionality need to be developped:
- Create external doc. (URL) for objects like service notification, sales order and documents;
- Display these documents.
These functionnality are provided by the Objects Services.
Is there functions module we can use in SAP R/3 to manage that ?
Iam not in charge of the WDA dev. I just need to specify the SAP R/3 stuff.

User Exit /Badi to display Plant field in Accounting Doc Generated in MIGO

Hi All,
when we do GR in MIGO FOR Movement type '101' , it creates a material document and accountign document. In the Accounting Document , we need the plant field to be displayed with the plant from the Purcahse order in the Addtional Account assingments subscreen. ( the same document can be seen in FB03).
Is there any user exits or Badi available for this particular scenario. R we missing anything in the functional configuration.

You can use the badi MB_DOCUMENT_UPDATE method MB_DOCUMENT_BEFORE_UPDATE
or badi MB_MIGO_BADI method POST_DOCUMENT.
You need to call a function module IN UPDATE TASK in order to save the data in DB, you can use an update statement within this FM...
Create the FM with processing type: Update Module and Start Delayed.

HR BAdi to display the header data of employee (PA30)

Hello All,
I am using transactions PA30 and PA20 to change the HR master data. I will explain my problem as follows.
1) Transaction pa30. Enter personal number. Press enter. Screen will display employee basic info at header, just before selecting the any infotype. SSN number is also displayed for USA employee.
2) I will select infotype 0002, change the SSN number, save it. before saving, in function module exit:EXIT_SAPFP50M_002 (INCLUDE ZXPADU02) , i am encrypting the SSN number and then stores it in DB.
3) In BADI HRPAD00INFTY(BEFOE_OUTPUT), i am taking same encrypted SSN number form DB, decrypt it, and showing on screen.
But the header part is still showing encrypted value. It is not decrypting the value before display. After investigation i found that, while displaying header part, mentioned Badi is getting called. I want to decrypt he same before display in header part only. It is working fine with detailed part (Means 0002 infotype screen).
Which Badi should i use to decrypt the SSN number, before display it in header part??

The Badi method is triggering before the PBO, Means before infotype screen 3000
In your requirement you have to implement the method AFTER_INPUT rather than BEFORE_OUTPUT in the same BADI implementation
This will work, Try it out.

Wrong URL displayed

Hi,
I have a web application in which there are tabs inside a page.
what is happening is,
Lets say I navigate from tab A to tab B.
The URL should change from ../A.do to ../B.do
But it keeps showing ./A.do
But the data displayed is ok.
Can anyone please tell me how to fix this and what are the consequences of not fixing this issue.

I don't know how you implemented the tab solution, but if you're forwarding the request using RequestDispatcher#forward(), then you should use a redirect with HttpServletResponse#sendRedirect() instead to get the desired result. This will create a new request object on the given URL. The consequence is that you will lost the initial request object and its parameters and attributes.

Here is the BADI documentation. Whichever links you want to hide them, simply pass X to them and activate BADI implementation.
Business Add-In BBP_SC_MODIFY_UI to override the standard settings and tailor the user interfaces Wizard, Simplified Form and Extended Form to your own requirements.
In the Add Items area, you can activate/deactivate the Describe Requirement, Add Limit Item, Request (Service) and Purchase Order (Service) links on the various user interfaces.
You can continue to display the Default Settings for Items area on the 'Wizard' interface, and to hide this area on the 'Extended Form'. This area is not integrated into the application Request.

You know, in the pages, when mouse hovers on a link, the url of it appears on the bottom. But in some older version of nightly build, it displays in the address box instead. I quite like this feature, and how can I find this back?
