VDI 3.1.1. Configuration with 4 Servers

Hello guys,
i have an easy question?
The costumer have 4 VDI Server. 1 primary and 3 secondary. When I start the vda-db-status i dont see all 4 host. Is this correct? When fail the DB Node 1 going the DB Note to other host?

Hi,
vda-db-status just monitors the critical nodes. Your 4th node is not critical and therefore doesn't appear on the list, even one of the first 3 nodes is down. VDI doesn't change the roles of the different nodes.

How to configure with several DB on source

Hello all,
I configured correctly 2 servers linux with GG 10.4 and oracle 10.2 for simple tables replication.
So i had one source database on server1 and one target on server2 ( 2 datasources on my GG director)
I need now to had a new source database on server1 and replicate tables on the same server2 (other destination schema).
How can i do this ?
Do i need a new GG installation on server1 (as manager process seems to bee dedicated on one DB) ?
Or simply add a new extract from my other db ?

Hi.
If the second source database is the same version of Oracle as the first and running on the same box then all you need to do is add another extract and explicitly set the ORACLE_SID (if you're not using an TNS alias to connect, but remember it still needs access to the redo logs) and possible the ORACLE_HOME if it happens to be different. To override any environment variable in your extract or replicat use the SETENV parameter before the login information (USERID parameter). For example:
SETENV (ORACLE_SID="ORA102")
If the second source database is a different (major) version then you'll need to download the appropriate build and hence work out of another OGG home.
Remember, a replicat can only read from one trail so you're going to have at least two replicats on your target - one for each source trail.

Now the question goes as follows:

How do I create an Integration Domain with 3 servers ?

I would like to create a WLI domain with three servers:<br>
Ã˜     One for the administration console;<br>
Ã˜     One for WLI;<br>
Ã˜     And the last to deploy EJB Session (which are the service called by WLI)<br><br>
To create the domain, I use the WLI 8.1 SP4 Configuration Wizard.<br><br>
After creating the domain with 3 services, I have not succeeded to start the WLI Server.<br><br>
For another test, I would like to create a WLI domain with two servers:<br>
Ã˜     One for the administration console and WLI;<br>
Ã˜     And the last to deploy EJB Session<br><br>
To create the main server, I have used the configuration wizard. For the other, I have used the console administration. With this configuration, the message brocker was not initialised.<br><br>
For the last test, I have created a domain with single server and I had no errors.<br><br>

To use 3 managed servers with Weblogic, I must a cluster environment.
Weblogic say: "WebLogic Integration domain that includes an administrative server and one or more managed servers must include a cluster. A WebLogic Integration domain that includes an administrative server and one or more managed servers without a cluster is an unsupported configuration."

Encrypting a vote with a servers public key...HELP!

Hey, I really need some help( online voting application)....what I want to do it allow a voter to be able to submit a ballot(vote) via servlets, they encrypt the ballot with the servers public key and then the ballot is stored in a database, where at another time the administrator may decrypt the ballot(s) using the servers private key. I have already sorted the voters authentication(MD5), and at the moment the servlet submits the ballot in an unencrypted form....so I just need a little help from here. I am also in the middle of doing an en=voting application as part of my thesis! Its interesting to see the way other people do the voting. Well, my experience so far is that I cannot get public/private key encryption to work. I have posted many topics on this forum regarding it and the reason it wont work is that the ballot that I am trying to enctypt is too large for the ballot object . I used the RSA algoithm and it wasn't able to handle my large object. So instead I have just used a symmetric algorithm and that works fine. I think its the DES algorithm. The only problem with this is that you are using the same key to encrypt and decrypt the ballot. I dont think this is secure. It has been reccomended to me that I use this symmetric algorithm as it is, but that I then use public/private key to encrypt the symmetric key! I still have a problem with this because if the key is still encrypted with public key, the user must have acces to the private key to decrypt the symmetric key to decryt the ballot. See where I'm going?
I would love to know of an asymmetric algorithm that can encrypt large objects. That would solve the whole security issue. I will post a replyhere if I find out the answer.

VS Exp 2013: Unable to create the Web site ... The components for communicating with FTP servers are not installed.

I have MS Visual Studio Express 2013 It has worked fine for many months and then suddenly (I have made no configuration changes or added new programs) when I try to publish I am getting the message:
Unable to create the Web site 'ftp://ftp.xx.xx/xxx.org.uk/www/htdocs'. The components for communicating with FTP servers are not installed.
(I have replaced actual name with x's).
I had a similar problem some months ago and found that saving all files, closing VS 2013 and re-starting the program fixed the problem. This time it has not.
I am at a loss to know how to take this forwards. I do not use IIS.
Any help would be appreciated.

For web site development, so you use the VS2013 express for web, am I right? We have to make sure that it is not the VS version issue.
As you said that it worked well before, did you install other add-ins or tools in your VS IDE like
Xamarin or others?
Maybe you could disable or remove all add-ins in your VS IDE, test it again.
please also install the VS2013 update 4 in your side.

CSS One Arm Configuration with VIP(non-shared)/IP Interface Redundancy

With Reference to the following CCO documentation;
1). "How to Configure the CSS to Load Balance Using 1 Interface"
In this example, the Real Server's (10.10.10.2 etc) gateway are pointed to the router's gateway(10.10.10.1) and used the 'add destination service' command to NAT the RealServer's IP address back to the VIP (10.10.10.6).
2). "Understanding and Configuring VIP and Interface Redundancy on the CSS11000".
In the interface redundancy configuration, the gateway of the Real Server are configured as the CSS11000's Interface Redundancy Address (192.168.1.1), not the Router's gateway.
Can anyone help to advise on the preferred one arm configuration with VIP/IP redundancy?
(i). Is the reason for configuring the gateway of the Real Server to CSS11000's Interface Redundancy Address in 2) same as using 'add destination service' command in 1)? That is to make sure that the return path from Real Server back to Client passes through the CSS and is NAT back to the VIP.
(ii). To configure VIP(non-shared)/IP Interface redundancy(Active/Backup Mode) in a one arm configuration, my understanding is that there are 2 methods of configuration. Is it correct? Which method is preferred?
Method a)
1.Configure the Real Server's gateway to Router's Gateway
2.Configure 'add destination service' command on the CSS to NAT the RealServer's IP address back to the VIP
3.Configure VIP(non-shared) redundancy for the VIP on the CSS
4.IP Interface Redundancy on the CSS is not required as the Real Server's gateway is already pointing to the Router's gateway. (Assuming that HSRP redundancy is already running on the Router)
Method b)
1. Configure the Real Server's gateway to the CSS's IP Interface Redundancy IP Address
2. Configure IP Interface Redundancy on the CSS (as the Real Server's gateway)
3. Configure VIP(non-shared) redundancy for the VIP on the CSS

if you use method a) (server gateway is the router) you need the CSS to nat
the source ip address of the client in order to force the server to send traffic back to the CSS.
The issue then is that the server does not see the IP address of real client.
The server only see connections with source IP address = CSS ip address.
With method b) you don't have the above problem, but connection initiated by the servers are sent to the CSS that will then send it to the router.
You have a performance issue because the traffic will cross 2 times the one-armed interface.
If this is a new design, it is strongly recommended not to use one-armed setup.

Admin server not sending bootstrap servlet configuration to managed servers

I am having a bit of strange issue.
I have weblogic 8.1 SP5 domain in PROD.
14 managed servers in the domain
When i start the managed serverA, sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesnt.
By looking at admin server logs, i found the following.
When the managed ServerA doesnt start, the admin server has the following log snippet

The difference is that admin server unable to send the bootstrap servlet configuration to managed servers, as highlighted above

If so, is there is solution to this?
Right now i am doing the work around (Which is restart admin server and then start managed server, for every managed server that does not start)
But i cant do this all the time.
MY domain has 14 managed servers. All of them exhibit similar behaviour.
Some times they start, some times they dont.

I'm working on a Sun VDI solution using a 7310 with Sun Storage 2010.Q1.0.0 and am having a provisioning error when importing a template or desktop. It errors about copying disk image to storage. Upon switching to a Solaris ZFS storage server the issue goes away. I'm curious if anyone else has run into this issue and if the Sun Storage OS should be update or if there are specific configuration variables that should be set in the ZFS storage pool being used by the Sun VDI implementation.

Okay, after some issues with the 7310 that is being used for this pilot I was able to do some more testing to generate logs around the failures. I have been able to get this to work with a regular Solaris 10 iSCSI and NFS server that uses ZFS. In fact it worked perfectly but that isn't the storage array that is meant for this project. The Sun VDI implementation is accessing the 7310 using the 'root' account and is connecting over gigE SAN. We can see Sun VDI logging into the storage array, it creates the '/suspend-data' NFS share right away as it should. When I got to import a template you can see it deploy the iSCSI LUN and the associated Target and IQN.

Configure 2 Ldap servers on C370

hello everyone,
we are consdering to configure a dual bundle C370 to Host a production and sumulation environement simutanously.
from Netwotking and mail flow plicies i think this is possible.
but i am not sure about Ldap profiles.
is it possible to configure two Ldap servers an associate each one with the adequate domain.

If they go in via the notification message they get in their email, they don't need authentication.
But if they need to do more than release that specific message, they'll need auth.

In the row for Spam Quarantin there's an "Edit" link on the far right, click that.
There's a section called End-User Quarantine Access, where you can turn on how users get access to the Quarentine. Pick LDAP.
You'll need to turn on and configure the Spam Quarantine End-User Authentication Query and the Spam Qarantine Alias Consolidation Query in your LDAP profiles under System Administration > LDAP

Can we have 2 Alert Configurations with same XI Server, Local&Central(CCMS)

Hi,
I am looking to configure Local Alert Configuration with XI Server,
It already had CCMS Alert Configurations in place, But the solution Manager
is forwarding alerts related to all the Servers (ECC,CRM,BW,XI). It is becoming
difficult to track the alerts of XI.
So my question is is it possible to have 2 alert configurations with XI l ocal & Certral (CCMS)?.
What are the effects if we have both.
I think it is possible to maintain xi specific alerts to specific mail ID's . But basis is finiding difficult in doing this.
Let me know suggestions if you have any in this case.

Yes you can have your own PI specific alerts.
You do this via ALRTCATDEF (as stated earlier)
You can edit the message header so you know if it's PI generated or if you log in as PISUPER to configure this then the sender will be PISUPER
Alternatively, why dont you ask BASIS to turn off monitoring for XI and allow you do a more fine-tuned version of this monitoring.
Or even better, dont create any local alerts but have BASIS finetune the central alerts so that the affected system is included in the subject header, also have them create roles for these systems and ensure messages are only sent to the impacted role. Blindly sending messages for all system to all system owners is really lazy config.

Problme in http server configuration with different database version

I have two instances of oracle databases on two different machines.
1. Oracle 9i R 2 with default http server
2. Oracle 10 g with http server of Oracle 10 g AS.
Now the problem is that when i want to cross configure the http servers that is to configure http server of 9i R 2 data base with the 10g data base or vice versa. It give the following error.
Can not run. Capacity probem.................
Plz tell me that is there any pronle in these configuration. Is it possible to configure 9i http server with 10 g data base and vice versa If yes then why I am getting errors???

Win 7 sp1 workstations losing contact with ZEN-servers

Lately we have seen more and more of this phenomenon that seems to have been described earlier but I cannot find any clear solution anywhere.
ZAA is 11.2.3.24691 MU1 or 11.2.4.3271. Happens to ws that are known to have been working ok. ZAA properties goes almost blank, except Agent status show correct IP-address, Device state Managed. Configuration location says Default location, should be something else. Server properties Unavailable, Closest servers no available, no policies, no bundles.
zac ref "completes" in half a second but nothing happens. If device still has the IP-address that was known to ZEN it shows up green, otherwise "Unable to connect...".
Wireshark shows little communication with ZEN-servers and only when ws uses same IP-address as is known to ZEN. A refresh produces no communication.

I sort of have the impression that ZAA actually is working (the services are running) but something else blocks the connection. However, Windows fw is closed and no av software is present.
Uninstall - reinstall of ZAA normally solves the problem, but this is not very practical and the situation can appear anytime on basically any ws, after which the ws remains in this state. The situation is particularly annoying on desktops with DLU, where the ws is practically useless in this state.

I sort of have the impression that ZAA actually is working (the services are running) but something else blocks the connection. However, Windows fw is closed and no av software is present.
Uninstall - reinstall of ZAA normally solves the problem, but this is not very practical and the situation can appear anytime on basically any ws, after which the ws remains in this state. The situation is particularly annoying on desktops with DLU, where the ws is practically useless in this state.
We seen this also on some workstation, zac cc, zac ref and then a restart usually solved it. Have not seen this error anymore after we updated to 11.2.4MU1.

CSM - serverfarms configured with multiple probes

Hi - If a serverfarm is configured with multiple probes, do the servers within the farm remain active if they respond positively to both probes or do they just need to respond to one of the configured probes?

Both probe must respond positively to make the server appears as OPERATIONAL.
If only one probe is responding positively then the server is considered DOWN
That is usefull for UDP test :
you need to check taht you don't have a RST when openning an UDP connection ( the UDP port is not closed) and you need to make ping (in order to be sure that there is a server ;-) )
